Walgreens on Michigan Avenue is located at the base of the Wrigley Building and is a convenient spot to grab all those things you may have forgotten on your trip in to Chicago. This location is two floors with the pharmacy and a few other areas up top and the snacks, food, drinks and booze on the main level. There are two checkout areas, but the main is by the back entrance. Staffing was good and they were friendly from entry to exit. It gets busy and the layout does not allow for a large queue, so get ready to stand where you can when you are reddy to check out. Store is in need of some conditional updates, as it shows quite a bit of wear, but that's expected at a prime location such as this. Overall, solid Walgreens in a good location if in downtown Chicago. read more

This Walgreens is in a great, busy part of Chicago and was clutch for us staying nearby. It's huge, for starters. There's even an escalator to take you to the large upstairs area (fancy!). We were able to find what we needed and then some. What we didn't realize when we were there was that a massive thunderstorm was dumping rain on the city outside, and tons of people came in here to huddle up and stay dry, or buy last second umbrellas. Not a whole lot more to say other than it's nice to have an easily accessible drug store and this one is nice. read more

I stopped in looking for a phone charger as my portable charger suddenly stopped working. While trying to get a new power cord to connect with my power bank (still didn't work!) the woman checking me out said I could use one of the wall plug ins if I needed to. This was soooooooo kind and generous and someone who lives in the area, this makes me want to shop at this location more. Very blessed for this experience. read more

A large Walgreens conveniently located close to my hotel. It's a bit overwhelming in my opinion just because it's so large (2 stories). But this location definitely seems to have just about everything! I ended up visiting every day during my trip to Chi town to stock up on water, electrolyte drinks and snacks. I also bought a small can of Lysol (can't be too safe during COVID times). Shelves are well stocked and they had multiple refrigerated areas for drinks. Prices are just ok. The store seems to be very popular with locals and tourists. It is centrally located and convenient. Service was mixed. In the morning the cashier was friendly and efficient. Towards the afternoon they had more cashiers but only one was good. The others I found rude. That said it's Walgreens. Enough said. For being the corporate store right under the HQ, it is very "fancy" and nice but otherwise so hard to find what you are looking for. No where in site could I find laundry softener. Prices are also more expensive than your typical Walgreens which is a shame, even for their "sale prices". read more

I was in shock with the size of this big wall greens. Here you can find anything you are used to finding at any Walgreens location but besides the normal things you also find in a corner Freshii, this is a franchise that I saw in different places here in Chicago, they sell sushi, wraps, sandwiches and more. This is probably my favorite Walgreens downtown. I have been coming here for years. They always have many cashiers working and the lines go so fast. They have a huge selection of everything and they are right by Water Tower and many hotels if you need to stop in late to get water or a snack. read more

This is by far the best Walgreens I have ever been in! It is actually in the lobby of the Wrigley building in Chicago. It doesn't feel like you're in a store once you're inside, it feels like it's part of the building, pretty cool. It is also very spacious and very neat. We came to get a bottle of wine to bring to our hotel room, and we ended up getting cosmetics and vitamins as well. We also met who must've been the nicest sales clerk I have ever encountered. Before she helped us, I had seen her talking to a few other people and she was just too happy to help and overall being there. I am actually sorry that I cannot remember her name, she deserves some recognition. Another first for a Walgreens (at least first I see) is the fact they have a walking cooler, where you can find everything from cider, beer, white wine, to sparkling champagne. Beware if you need your prescription on time. My regular Walgreens didn't have my birth control. I called this Walgreens to ask if they had it in stock. They said they had one month worth (I usually get 3) and were getting another shipment the next day. I was extremely clear on the phone and specifically asked if it would be ready by the next day at 6:30 pm, or else I would try another Walgreens. They insisted it would 100% be ready so I had my prescription moved there. The next day in the afternoon I receive an automated call telling me my prescription is delayed, but that if I needed it quickly they could get it in a few days? That's obviously not how birth control works. I immediately call back the pharmacy and speak to a man who again guarantees that they actually already received the shipment today, someone mis-labeled it in the computer system and they are packing up my prescription right now. Later I received another call saying its ready. I go to the pharmacy and the woman at the register (who by the way was extremely understanding, and helpful and validated my feelings while actively trying to solve the issue during a busy time - she gets 5 stars) hands me the bag and says "they told you on the phone it's a different manufacturer right?" Well in fact no they did not, and I have had a bad reaction to alternative manufacturers of this birth control before. In fact I specifically called multiple times to make sure they had my prescription in stock or else I would have called another Walgreens. Then they tell me they have one month worth of my prescription left, and i tell them i'll take it. They come back with two months. So like do they have this medicine or not? I just honestly feel really lied to by whichever pharmacist(s) I spoke to on the phone. I called asking specifically if they had it in stock, offered to ask another walgreens, and he misrepresented the medicines availability multiple times across multiple days. I live closer to CVS but have specifically been going to Walgreens basically my entire life because there was a really good one in my hometown and I trusted them. Love the architecture of the Historic Wrigley Building. This flagship store of Walgreens is a beauty. With two levels of lots of great products. However the staff are not as friendly as the last cation in Streeterville. Location location location, we have all heard that right? Well they sure do get their money for their products. I have also found a lot of products that are three times the price from the Walgreens in Streeterville. Other than coming in here just if I am in the area, I'd rather go to the one in Streeterville. Hands down the worst pharmacy. Isn't pharmacy the key part of Walgreens. First of all, taking days to get a simple prescription is ridiculous. Second, it's only open from 10-6. People work. Finally, if they don't have your prescription, they simply don't respond. Nothing. Eventually you have to go there and be told you won't be getting it. That's not great for blood pressure meds. This is the mother of all Walgreens! I mean this is a Flagship two-story (27,800-square-feet) Walgreens that is located off of Michigan Avenue (walking distance to the Mag Mile and River Walk). (REASON for 3Stars was the attitude of cashiers) I was gonna give it a 2 but this store has lots to offer. Located in the north tower of Chicago's iconic Wrigley Building. It has a pharmacy and clinic on second floor. The pharmacy features an Express Rx pickup kiosk to allow you to quickly pick up and pay for refill prescriptions and a private health room for counseling and services including immunizations and health tests. Also offers a Healthcare Clinic, staffed by board certified family nurse practitioners - no appointment necessary. A make up section, that has a pink glow of the LOOK Boutique, which offers an expanded selection of skincare, hair care and cosmetics including products from Boots No7. The boutique also carries other high end name brands that your typical Sephora store does not Cary. There is a beer market that has a WALK-IN cooler with a wide selection of CRAFT beers and a large selection of wines and fine liquor complemented by an assortment of cheese and crackers. This store has everything and then sum, it's the perfect destination for health and daily living essentials. You might, actually you will, get carry away by the views on the second floor. Stop and take in the 180-degree view of the Magnificent Mile and the court that is between both towers of the Wrigley Building. Also the first floor of the store has an Upmarket Café, which includes a made-to-order juice, smoothie and milkshake bar; hand-rolled sushi and sashimi; on-the-go meal options such as wraps, soup, sandwiches and salads. The only other Walgreens that I would compare this one to (the mother load of all Walgreens) is the one located at 151 N State St, 1st Fl, Chicago, IL 60601. However, that location is ALWAYS heavy with foot traffic and their staff is worse than the ones at this location. (with the EXCEPTION of one staff member by the name of LILY) Now Lily has made our visits super great. She has AMAZING customer service skills. She even gave us a TOUR on our first visit back in January. Other than that the staff at the cash registers are sometimes like they just don't want to be there, too tired to even greet you or just point blank rude by nature. I want to point out the unique design in this store's radiant color pattern and indirect lighting features that complement the building's exterior (which as you walk by automatically INVITE you in) especially if you are sitting at Peet's coffee (which is right across Walgreens) There is a mosaic floor (black and white) motif of the building's FAMOUS clock that welcomes you as you enter off of Michigan Avenue. I just had to, just had to take a few pics bc it's such a beauty and I'm sure that there are a lot of people that have OVERLOOKED at this beauty. This Walgreens location is in a prime location - right on Michigan Avenue in the Wrigley Building. The decor is great with the marble floors and very bright atmosphere. The layout is very well done. I was in dire need of some eyeliner for the next day so I walked to Walgreens from The Gwen hotel. It was very easy to get to but it was also 11:30pm at night in a city I'm not familiar with. I asked The Gwen's doorman if he thought it would be safe to walk to and he questioned why I would go so late but affirmed that I should be safe. There was a women standing outside Walgreens that told me where to enter because there were many locked doors and asked me to get her some Soda and Pringle's. There were a few sketchy characters in there but no one approached me. I think I was on edge because of the time. I loved how they had a BYOB section where you could Build Your Own Birchbox. And upstairs just looked really cool for browsing but I tried to quickly get in and out. I ended up getting the eyeliner and a few other items include the soda and can of Pringle's for the women outside. All the random employees that were in the store were nice and said hello to me. I came in for a passport picture on my lunch and the lovely young lady at the register had everything set up in about 30 seconds! She gave me great tips for a really nice passport photo and even took a couple extra shots for me with and without flash. Hey, this picture is going to be around for 10 years - better make it a good one. She reviewed my shots and helped me pic the one we thought came out the best one. She popped out the memory card, did her magic on the picture kiosk for it to print, I cashed out, and only had to wait about 3 more minutes for the picture to print, cut to the proper size, put into it's cute paassport picture sleeve, and I was out the door. All and all it took about 5 minutes MAX. Great service and a great picture! read more

I probably would avoid most products that are not on sale as they tend to be a lot more expensive than the Walgreens stores outside of downtown. I do like that they have Freshii inside, a great addition to lunch options in the area. The store overall is very clean and well organized. read more

This Walgreens was pretty badass! I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. It has a food counter of freshly prepared foods with spots and counter space to sit and eat + charge your phone, if you need. The store was massive. I did not get to explore more than I wanted because it was getting late and had to get back to hotel. From the photos though, it looked like they have cool make-up counters and so much more to just have some fun retail therapy at. It was close to the riverwalk and boat ride activities and easy access to the Magnificent Mile. If you want some affordable "Chicago"-marked gift giveaways, there is plenty to find there. I loved that the store was clean and super organized. I went in there to buy a green/healthy juice and they had a good variety to choose from. So, whatever you need: snacks, meds, drinks, gifts, toiletries and food... they'll take care of you in here! read more

Randomly strolling about the city one evening, the lady and I ended up stopping by here to browse around and ended up getting our passport photos taken. Great success. They provide two copies of your newly taken passport photo for $13 and handle all of the editing of the photo and even square cropping. It's only up to you to attach the photo to your application! Passport application went thru with no issues with the photo so we're satisfied! Aside from that, I gotta say this is one big Walgreens location. Super high ceilings and large windows letting in a ton of light natural light in. I've always walked by, but never took the opportunity to stop in before. Upon further looking around, this location is two stories! Crazy. They even have a large walk-in cooler for beer to give you an idea how large this location is. In addition, they have a salad & sandwich shop which seems to cater to near by offices and such. Anyways, I'm a fan of this location. I have only ever seen one other Walgreens like this before, and that was in San Francisco. Tucked in the Wrigley building, this is a 2 story Walgreens with a whole makeup store .. I'm not kidding, it's got basically a Sephora on the 2nd floor with makeup brands that even Sephora doesn't carry! I had to pop in here a few times during my stay to pick up an ankle wrap or waters because $4 for a water at my hotel was stupid. But $2 for a litre of smartwater was acceptable. Mirabilia dictu! This is by far THE COOLEST Walgreens in the entire chain! It has to be, the architecture of the Wrigley Building is phenomenal, and their occupancy has done nothing but improve the space. Wrigley owners owe them a debt of gratitude because it makes the building truly come alive. To quote the Blues Brothers: "This place has got everything!" It is two floors of food and merchandise for all your urban living needs, and tourists as well. They have a nice selection of everything including a beer and wine cooler, lots of prepared foods and snacks, and all the basic household necessities. After a long day I just want to go home. When I realize I'm out of garbage bags or soap, I can count on this location to give me the selection I need without having to walk the equivalent of a parking lot and then another half mile in the store. It is big and spacious, but everything seems so close by to a register and an exit, whether you are upstairs or down. The staff is really wonderful too! No kidding. They even have an outdoor patio section which is a terrific space between the two buildings. Lots of fun and activity. My only critique is that the pharmacy hours seem truncated. It would be nice if it were open until midnight, or at least until 10pm. For those of us who work till 5pm (on a good day!) and do the reverse commute, we miss it by a half hour. read more

One on north ave in wicker park and anther on diversey in Lincoln park. This is by far the most visually appealing Walgreens I've ever been in. It's integrated into the existing building and thus has gorgeous (marble?) floors, coffered ceilings, and feels more like an old-timey department store than a dime-a-dozen Walgreens. The reason for my visit was inauspicious (ISO: generic Pepto) so I didn't spend much time exploring, but everything was laid out attractively over two levels. The aisle I needed was a little hard to find, and prices were higher than your typical Walgreens, but considering its Michigan Ave. location it's not surprising that things were a bit more. I don't know if I'd necessarily make this is a destination, but if I need some quick items and was in the area I'd likely choose this over the more cookie-cutter Walgreens spots around town. read more

This double-Decker Walgreens has just about everything you could need for a good one stop shop. I had initially thought there was only one option for a can opener, but I was pleasantly surprised when I ventured to the second floor and found a second option that was much less likely to break upon first use. I may be biased as I just moved from DC area, where you were lucky if there was more than two aisles and hard alcohol in a Walgreens was unheard of, but it's worth a browse. If you find nothing inside worth your while, the building itself is a pretty sight. read more

Great location right on Michigan Ave. The store has a great selection, wide aisles, never a long line, and quite possibly the friendliest staff of any Walgreens. There's an awesome juice/smoothie bar with loads of great concoctions to cool you off during the hot Chicago summers. Or just as nice treat any other time of year. read more

Terrible experience. Called to see if they have a non contact thermometer, I kept being left on hold by multiple people. Then when I finally was told they have them, I came buy to purchase one. I purchased it and requested a paper receipt for this item since it's for work and I need a copy of the receipt and they made it the end of the world because my Walgreens account is set to email me my receipt. They told me to change my account settings and took forever to print me a paper copy and it was the same copy I could've printed through my email! I literally waited for nothing. The cashier gave me this $55 thermometer I just bought in a super thin paper bag with no handles, I requested a handle paper bag or a plastic bag and he dumps my item on the counter and let out a big sigh and told me I have to reuse the bag. I work in customer service and this is absolutely unacceptable! read more

I live literally live next door to this Walgreens. The lines are always extremely long and painfully slow . You have to play this guessing game as to which register will the cashier actually be at . Then they walk painfully sow to it and usually with an attitude . I actually walk a few blocks away near the movie theater to a different Walgreens , where the staff is efficient , and very pleasant , and a manager is always nearby so you do not have to wait I can never find anything in this store .It is very confusing .I have seen people literally walk out of the store , stealing sodas , alcohol and they do not even seem phased . Yet they will follow regular people , who are well mannered and polite around in a harassing manner making the shopping experience even more unpleasant . The prices here are much higher as well. Some of the cashiers are horribly rude .A cashier rang me uo and then just walks away from the register leaving the receipt hanging , I took my receipt myself and was treated by another cashier , as if I was committing a crime , while at this same exact moment a homeless man was waltzing out of the store with a bottle of Jack Daniels for all to see and non one says a word . Really ? I found the manager and shared this with him which he apologized for . The only good thing about this Walgreens is one certain cashier in the pharmacy section , who is so helpful and kind , I think her name is Porsche , she is an angel . I am very sick with late stage Lyme disease and thyroid problems and more and frequent this store for the pharmacy ,and she always is so kind and helpful .I cannot believe people so kind actually still exist in this world like her. I only come to this Walgreens for her help . I went on a day that she was. not there and the new person in training do not even stay in the front ,you have to wait and if you summon them from behind the wall of cabinets they get an attitude . They also changed the makeup section to very cheap , low quality items .No more Birchbox or anything "good" anymore. The irony is that this is the "flagship store " lol. It by far is the worst Walgreens . I appears all bright and shiny and that is as far as it goes . Also the homeless people are literally at the doors harassing you . By Law they are supposed to be FIFTEEN FEET from the entry way door. The "security guard " wears headphones absorbed in his music completely oblivious to the homelesss people loitering in pairs outside of the door behind him ,and is and utterly useless . The entire experience in this store is unsafe ,extremely frustrating , inefficient , toxic , negative , hostile energy . Get ready for attitude . Buying a bag if ice can take 20 minutes or more in line . They will have 3 people behind the counter but of course only one register actually in action . This Walgreen's is in an exceptional building - such a fantastic and historical location! I love the new concept of an expanded grocery selection with many fresh food options, including sushi and juice bars! The bad: the store is a bit spread out, especially on the second floor and could use better signage to where various items can be found. The ugly: one of the cashiers was beyond rude, accusing me of cutting the line (I didn't but she sure chastised me loud enough the whole store probably thinks I did) and then refused to check me out saying I threw my items at her (again, I didn't but she certainly wanted to create a scene with me). I will never, ever return to this location. I will never re-fill a prescription at Walgreen's. And, I'll only go to Walgreen's if there is no other convenient drugstore available. read more
