Whats there to be said about CVS; it's one of those places when you are to lazy to drive to Walmart or Target or you really don't want to go to different store and it's in the area. So you go to CVS. It's kind of like me it's not the 1st choice but I have been texting you none stop so you are like lets give it a chance. CVS located right off Mission BLVD. They have a very large parking lot and always have at least 1 or 2 people staffing the register. Sometime the lines can get pretty long and even longer when someone is doing like normal shopping with a full cart here. This place is the 1 off place. You go in here to buy 1 or 2 things at a time. It's kind of like a 711 but with way more pharmacy stuff and way more alcohol for sure. I will go here if I need guy stuff. Lotion, Medication, Drinks, Snacks, A card for a birthday I forgot about and need something last minute and lets not forget they do offer small sized condoms; snug fit the kind I use when they have them in stock. They place does have many things in stock. Just don't think you are going to get a good deal. They have like weekly deals and sometimes they are really good. But most normally priced things will be $1 to $5 more so don't got into CVS thinking you are going to get a good deal without a coupon or there mobile app giving you a deal. So if you area CVS coupon shopper and don't want to deal with a real store CVS is a good choice if you are not a frugal cheapskate like myself. It's there a for a reason and it's a store I'll keep returning to just out of convenience.

Very disappointing experience with the woman pharmacist with short hair on July 27…read more My dog had suddenly started having seizures, and my veterinarian gave me a hard-copy prescription for a controlled medication because they couldn't dispense it or call it in. As soon as I handed it to the pharmacist, her first response was, "It's Monday. I'm very busy." She seemed visibly annoyed that I had brought in a paper prescription. She then said, "I have prescriptions to fill and I'm giving vaccines, so it's going to be at least 24 hours." When I asked if there was any chance it could be filled sooner because it was an emergency, she showed absolutely no empathy. She also said, "I have to call your veterinarian because the name on the prescription doesn't match the doctor who signed it." I transferred the prescription to the CVS inside Target on Hesperian Boulevard. They simply said, "No problem," accepted the same veterinary prescription without questioning it, and had it filled in about 30 minutes. The delay wasn't the problem. It was the lack of compassion, the rude attitude, and the completely different experience I had at another pharmacy with the exact same prescription.

This used to be 24 hrs back in the day, but those days are behind us. Their hours are still pretty generous tho like 7 am to 11 pm. If I do venture in here, I'll try and do it early am like 9am as to avoid most of the crowd and chaos. I usually stay away from any food shopping here, unless there is a sale up front like bananas or juice that I can quickly grab without going down a food aisle. There's no meat counter/section here but there are reach in fridges with some prepackaged stuff. And because this is Union City, I amusingly find Filipino products here that I'm sure aren't at other locations. I usually come here for big bags of charcoal. They have a great selection from briquets to natural mesquite to pellets. They are all in the gardening section on a massive rack. And they will be at a price that is better than most, which Walmart is actually beneficial for. I'll also grab outdoor/work clothes here. For those occasions when I'm planning on getting clothes wrecked like for camping/working in the yard/home improvement projects. The nature of the store is evolving, in that more and more things are locked up. Which is a sad commentary on our society actually. Socks, belts, even toothpaste can be locked up, and to find someone to open a case up is usually more cumbersome than it has to be. Which is why 1-2 times a year for a few specific things is more than enough for me. See ya after Labor Day when my dual bag of charcoal needs to be replenished.

That was pretty bad but I let it go and figured I'd just pick it up the next week. When I came back a week later all the same expired items were still there. Not acceptable. I let an employee know and they said "oh sorry". This is not an isolated incident. We find expired items often. They've also been out of paper bags the last two weeks. They haven't put up any signs or anything to give customers a heads up, so when I approached the register last week with my full cart I had no choice but to buy more of their reusable bags because I had forgotten mine at home. A week later they were still out of paper bags. I brought my own, but still no heads up until after I had unloaded my cart at the register. I mentioned to the cashier that they were out of bags the week before as well and she didn't know what I was talking about. They also seem to no longer help people bag their groceries. They will scan all your items and then just watch you pack them up, or they just start scanning the next customers items and mixing their stuff with your own items. This backs up the line at the register and makes everything go slower. Today while I packed my bags and the employee at the register stood there watching me, I asked if they had a new policy to no longer assist with bagging the groceries. I thought perhaps it was a holdover from COVID which would have made some sense. The employee said "Oh...uh..." and helped put the last two items in a bag, but did not answer my question. There was another recent incident when a manager came to the cashier and told them they needed to take a break after they helped me (that's fine, workers deserve their breaks). The customer behind me had already unloaded their cart and asked "What about me". The manager just said "You'll need to move" and walked away without offering to help them do so. I've worked at Target myself and in roles with other retail companies. I understand the challenges placed on stores by the executive class and poorly behaved customers that makes good service more difficult than it aught to be. But this location underperforms in ways it should not.
