I love CVS and have loved CVS ever since I moved to San Diego. I'm not all hardcore with the coupons and points, but I have friends who are who save a ton of money by doing their shopping at CVS. This particular CVS is my local haunt. Why so much appreciation, you ask? + Open 24 hours. + The pharmacy is also open 24 hours (MAJOR BONUS POINTS). + CVS-brand products are kind to my wallet. Really, the pharmacy is the selling point. The mere presence in the middle of the night of someone who knows what they're talking, someone who can advise you while you wait for your doctor's office to open... That's a great resource to have. read more

One great thing about this CVS is that it and it's pharmacy is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Their pharmacy is always a bit busy, and I admit, it does take a while to get or drop off your prescription, but I guess that's the price one has to pay for a 24 hour place. Employees are always helpful when asked, and the location is always clean. Another plus - it's in a plaza that also houses a Peet's and a whole foods, so parking is always guaranteed. read more

HAPPY CAMPER HERE!! This is the first time I have been in a CVS and didn't feel like the store was dying a slow death. There were plenty of people around and each employee said hi to me as I walked by. I needed to buy a few things while I was vacationing nearby and had a 25% off coupon so I thought this would be a good place to stop. One of the things I needed was locked up and the cashier was very nice about getting the keys to get me what I needed. Most often this kind of thing causes employees to look irritated because it slows down the process and there was a long line at the time. 25% off coupon used and out the door in less than 20 minutes with everything i forgot to pack for my trip. I really like how I can walk here from UCSD, but uhh, why aren't the q-tips in one of the 5 aisles of personal care or bath & body ? Why would you put it in the baby section next to the diapers? Adults use q-tips, too. Of course, problems like these can be easily solved, once you ask one of their employees, and they do seem to HAVE the things you expect them to have at a pharmacy. The worse pharmacy ever. Avoid at all cost, came here for to pick up my prescriptions, the clerk says they are out of stock and told me to come back the next day. Next day they weren't able to find my prescription and sends a request to my doctor for new prescription. So i go to my doctor after being put on hold for an hour with cvs and got the print out of the prescription that was sent. After coming to cvs they still "cannot" find it in the system, so they call the doctor and confirm this whole process took 45 minutes, not to mention when they gave me the medicine it wasn't even mine, but someone with the same last name. I've never ever had a experience with any pharmacy like this, visiting the store 4 times to finally get a prescription. Needless to say i will be switching pharmacy after this. read more

I will be filing a complaint with the CEO of CVS to have the pharmacist at this branch fired. I have had prescriptions from out of the county filled here every year before and the pharmacist on duty on December 24 ar 9:15am refused to fill it even though it was filled at this branch one year ago and it has been filled at a CVS in Los Angeles County every month for the last four years. They are not following the law and they should be penalized for it. Now I am stuck spending Christmas Eve driving to LA and back to fill a prescription. So a very merry Christmas to the horrible pharmacist at this location who will soon be out of a job. (Post script: I went to the CVS on Eads in La Jolla and they were able to fill it no problem. So, no, the pharmacist at the Villa La Jolla location would not have lost her license for helping me. She just didn't feel like she needed to be helpful, despite it being the holidays and all that.) read more

It's large, has abundant merchandise, and pretty good prices and selection of alcohol, usually less expensive than Ralphs across the street. I come here for snacks, drinks, vitamins, and some random grocery items occasionally. A few things - they do attract some interesting characters as employees (I guess the nightshift draws certain types), but I'm not deducting a star for that. I actually kind of like it. They also need to fix their cashier line issue. It never ceases to confuse people. There are signs but they need MORE visibility. People regularly end up forming 2 lines - one correct and one incorrect, and it throws off the order of customers. You would think it's not a big deal, but people accidentally cut the line in front of others often enough to make it an issue that the store should have addressed a long time ago. Finally, their pharmacy hours are convenient and it is usually staffed by nice pharmacy techs. USUALLY, but not always. read more

I love this location and since I work nearby, I am in the almost everyday. A big shout out to Dina! While all the folks who work there are very friendly, she is always at the door smiling and laughing and having a good time, which has to be hard considering some of the poop heads who shop there. Good prices and you really must shop their sales, if you time it right you can get some great deals. My one complaint is that they seriously need to update the interior. The one in Clairemont is nicer, come on folks, this is La Jolla. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had the absolute worst experience in my one and only visit at this location. I went in to buy a bag of ice and a bag of chips, it was supposed to be an easy in and easy out CVS run. Once I grabbed my items, I noticed that there was no line at self checkout, which is what I prefer to use anyways. There were other people utilizing the self checkout registers, but I was the only non-white looking person here. I am a person of color and this should not have any effect on my visit. However, the self checkout employee felt the need to come up to me AND ONLY me and start scanning my items for me. He didn't even bother asking if I needed help. He just grabbed my items without asking and scanned them for me. I only had two items (the bag of ice and a bag of chips), yet he kept insisting I had more. He even made sure to triple check my basket to make sure I wasn't hiding anything in there. I have never experienced anything like this at any other store, but I know that I will never be returning to this CVS location after this incident. I am writing this review because I had an amazing customer service experience today thanks to Destiny, one of the cashiers. She was super helpful and patient with me. She went above and beyond and I felt like she genuinely cared about making sure all my questions were answered and that I had a good experience at this store. It's not often you find good customer service nowadays and she should be recognized for making customers feel welcomed. I frequently shop at this CVS (La Jolla Village Shopping Center). The staff is super helpful, many have been working there for years. I always feel I receive great customer service. I was having trouble with my extra care card today, was not receiving the coupons that I thought were on the card. Percival was very kind and patient and took extra time to assist me. He believed me when I said I thought the coupons should be on my card. He gave me the benefit of the doubt and went the extra mile to get things straightened out. That was a very kind gesture, this is my neighborhood drugstore and I very much felt I was treated as a kind neighbor. Thank you Percival and all staff. read more

Yelpers, I have a not-so-secret secret to tell you about CVS. Yes it is 24 hours and had most things you'd need for daily life (beauty, food, office, etcetc) and the staff is pretty good. I want to tell you about the perfume counter. First of all, sign up for the free CVS value card. This will save you $7 off your perfume purchase. (It seems like a "sale" but I see it every time I go in there). It's really strange to think about, but CVS carries lots of high end perfume (hello, CHANEL and D&G?!) for cheaper than Nordies, Sephora, Ulta... any of that. They might not have your favorite but I bet you can find something. I bought the D&G dupe I Love Love by Moschino for about $33. The same size retails at Sephora for more than $40 I believe. I bought Juicy Couture for $23. This also retails for much higher in other stores. On your way to Wamu, Blockbuster, or whatever you're doing in the area, go check out CVS. It's the perfume collector's dream. I almost didn't want to post this because of fears that my favorites will sell out! read more

CVS is the same everywhere, so this review will focus on the aspects that make this CVS, well, unique. Summary: Poor service, expired over-the-counter drugs, incompetent pharmacists. 1) Poor service: - I got Nyquil once and got carded. That was fine because I am an adult. Despite the fact that by law, I was old enough to purchase the Nyquil, I was interrogated for a long time as to why I needed amphetamines. I mean, is coughing between sentences and blowing gallons of snot no enough reason to get Nyquil??? - I got carded once for buying coolers to a BYOB party. Understandable. But my underage sister was at CVS with me at the time because she needed eyeliner. As I was getting carded, my sister comes up to me at the cashier and asks me add hairties to the purchase. Because my sister had walked up to me, she got carded and we were not permitted to buy the alcohol anymore. That's fine, except she needlessly lectured me... the 21+ person who was buying alcohol not to drink but to bring for other people. - I forgot my CVS whatever-the-crap-they-call-their-member-card-thing so I asked the cashier if I could give her my phone number and her look it up. She glares at me and barks "NO! I have to... you can't *a bunch of incoherent mumbling*" I ask, "pardon me?" in a very kind and patient voice and I get yet another death glare. Moments later, she barks, "PHONE NUMBER!" and I gave it to her. Why did she yell at me? 2) Expired OTC drugs (just a few things I came across on the selves): - Acetaminophen was 2 months expired. - Nyquil was 1 month expired. - Neutrogena sunblock was expired. - Neosporin was expired. I eventually gave up looking for stuff there and went straight to Walmart for my OTC goods. 3) Incompetent pharmacists: Me: "Where can I get some Loratadine/ Claratin for my allergies?" Girl in white coat: "Oh you don't want that. You might want to try Ranitidine/ Zantac. It's also a histamine blocker and I personally think it has fewer side effects" Me: "But that's an H2 receptor blocker for GERD. I need H1 histamine blockers for my allergies." Girl in white coat: *looks at me sternly* "This is the right stuff, but if you don't believe me I'll get my supervisor to tell you the same thing." *leaves to get supervisor* Older guy in white coat: "Oh yeah you were right. You want the Claritin for your allergies." It pays off to know a little something about medications... read more

I had a horrific experience tonight at CVS pharmacy. First of all, I approached an employee to pick up my medications and he LIED to my face saying they were closed. Rudely nonetheless. I returned a few minutes after looking up their hours online which said they were open, and was shut down IMMEDIATELY. The employees were patronizing, once again saying they were no longer open in a rude manner without even looking at me. As a loyal customer, I am disgusted and offended by this misconduct. It's amazing that you cannot contact CVS Corp in order to lodge a complaint or concern, I guess they do not care. After a 13 min and 40 sec phone call to the CVS Pharmacy in Bastrop, Texas concerning a refill that was entered on their automated system exactly 7 days prior, Armond, the pharmacist said "we sent in the request to your Doctor but never got a reply". I guess once they do that, they are done with the refill process and do not follow-up if they do not get a response. Are you kidding me? They will bug you to death with text concerning refills you do not want, or those that are not due for refills, but do not show the same effort in order to fill a prescription that you actually request. I guess they spend to much time trying to be diverse, or curtailing the 2nd amendment instead of customer service. I was actually told that I should contact my Doctor. I guess they are too busy because they do not properly staff their stores properly. That is why when you pick-up your prescriptions there is always a line and waiting forever is normal. I have decided to relieve them of some work by moving my needs to another pharmacy. CVS SUCKS! read more

Most of the employees including the store managers are the most lazy and rude people I've came across. I came in to buy some stuff and Dina was so sweet to me, always so nice to see her..however, her rude ass manager(some tall white guy) came over and demanded (raised his voice) her to leave while she was in the middle of checking me out..twice! It was so rude towards the customer and so disrespectful towards her as an employee. She still proceeded to check me out until we were done. She is great..managers here (both the white guy and the black guy) are shit. I hate rude people like that who abuse their authority. The pharmacy here has consistently been a problem. I regularly pick up prescriptions here and they are never on time. I call the pharmacy an hour and a half ahead of time to make sure my prescription is ready when I come in. However, when I get to the front of the line I am told I have to wait 20 minutes to get the prescription. Not to mention the wait time in line is always unreasonably long. I highly recommend taking your prescription to another pharmacy in the area and save yourself the headache. read more

To anyone thinking of using the pharmacy at this CVS - please consider going elsewhere. You will save yourself a lot time, frustration and ill health. I have picked up my prescription here a few times (thought I'd give it a chance) and I'm extremely unhappy and disappointed with the staff of this pharmacy including pharmacists. 1. The staff is terribly rude to the point of insolence. I've gotten an aggressive sneer from the staff in response to a simple request to call my insurance. This happened after I'd had a lengthy conversation with another staff member and explained the issue patiently a few times and was promised that my prescription will be filled. A week later, of course, the prescription was NOT filled and I had to deal with another dose of offensive behavior. 2. The staff is incompetent. My doctor's office had to call them 3 times in order to place a prescription due to this CVS staff's ineptitude, 3. Prescriptions are not filled on time and when they are promised. If you have a sick loved one whose well-being depends on a timely medication - this is not the place you can rely on. 4. Needless to say, I'm not using this pharmacy. read more

I just heard CVS fired Joe Morici who spent seven years in the Army, including a tour of duty in Afghanistan because he tried to stop two shoplifters from running from the Maryland CVS store he managed. This CVS is okay, nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible. They have a machine by the door where you scan your "Extra Care" CVS care and get cool coupons that save you money, that's kind of cool. Some of the cashiers don't speak English and it makes it a little hard when I have a question, but no biggie. Most of the people who work here are pretty nice and friendly. They have pretty good sales on make up and other cosmetics. Look for their ads! Suckiest part? Their parking lot BLOWS. I swear people forget how to park/stop/drive in that parking lot. The employees that work in this store have always been extremely rude, especially the last time I went in to purchase alcohol with my friend. I was carded of course since I was purchasing, but my friend was also required to show ID which he didn't have with him. That alone kind of annoyed me because I've never had a problem buying alcohol at other stores such as Ralphs or Vons. But besides having an issue with that, the cashier woman, was very rude about the situation. We spoke with the manager who was contrarily very nice. Pharmacy anyplace but here. The cost they wanted me to pay for my most recent prescription was 10 times what it was when filled here less than a year ago ($400 instead of $40), and that's with Caremark Prescription insurance. They could not explain why. I didn't accept the package and left. They kept making their automatic call to my home phone ("your prescription is ready for pick up") and when I tried to call and get them to stop, I could not get through to a pharmacist (4 attempts over 2 days with a total of 28 minutes on hold). High prices, no service. The pharmacy manager should be replaced. read more

The Pharmacy at this location is consistently a disaster. I have been coming here for over two years because it's the closest one to my house, although I might as well drive up to Orange County to pick up my prescriptions because it might save me some time. And at least I could pick my own radio stations during the drive. My prescription auto- refills and it has been the same for almost three years so it is truly baffling to me how they manage to mess it up Every. Single. Month. There is always a line so after 10 minutes of waiting, I'm told to wait some more while they "fix" my refill to be brand specific and not generic as my prescription clearly states. Today it took me just under an hour to run what most would hope would be a quick errand. I hate this place and will be switching pharmacies. Shame on me for taking so long to realize that this place will never change. read more

Don't waste your time on the minute clinic. They said it would be a half hour. After and hour wait they got my fiancé and I in. I am sure the lady was well meaning, but she really had no idea what was going on. It took her 20 mins just to get the info in and even had to call CVS headquarters for help. When checking my fiancé out she wasn't better. After asking the same questions multiple times she began yanking on my fiancé's ear to look inside. My fiancé repeatedly told her it hurt but the clinic lady said it was necessary. The diagnosis: "your ear looks red." Like I said, don't waste your time. read more
