I could not more highly recommend La Jolla Discount Pharmacy, especially for IVF meds!! The pharmacist, David, went SO above and beyond to help us out, that we just had to share this miraculous story incase any other women doing IVF find themselves in this situation! Here's the backstory- it's definitely worth the read because it felt truly miraculous, and the kindness and helpfulness of complete strangers was so heartwarming and will never be forgotten! My husband and I are currently going through our first IVF cycle at Gen 5 Ferility (who we also couldn't more highly recommend). Our egg retrieval surgery was schedule for the morning of 4/21, so we needed to do the trigger meds at 12:45 am Easter Sunday. I overnighted on Friday the Ovidrel trigger injection and our Cetrotide refill from CVS Specialty Pharmacy, since that is who our insurance requires us to go through. I had gotten the Lupron from La Jolla discount pharmacy Friday after my appointment at the recommendation of my Gen 5 team, since that one needed to be compounded and wasn't too expensive out of pocket. My CVS Specialty order got delivered Saturday afternoon, and when I went to unbox all the meds that night at 10pm to get them ready for our 12:45 am injection , I realized the pharmacy only sent one syringe of Ovidrel in the box when I need 2. The instructions on the box even said take 2 syringes, so the pharmacy must have messed up when packing it. I literally was trying every possible Hail Mary move I could think of, and one of them was to email the after hours email for Apri Pharmacy. I put urgent in the subject and explained everything and said I knew it was a longshot, but if someone saw the email and there's anything they could do to help, I'd really appreciate it and left my phone number. The sweetest man, Jason, from Apri Pharmacy literally called me back 30 minutes later and said he just happened to check the email and saw our message and wanted to give us a call and try to help! When he called we were on our way to the ER right next to La Jolla Discount Pharmacy because that's the only thing else I could think to try at that point and was desperate! (I figured since I knew that pharmacy had the meds in stock, maybe there was a chance someone in the ER right next store could access it or know someone to call? Unlikely, but again, desperate lol). Jason said he will try and call all the pharmacists and see if anyone can come in and open the pharmacy for us to get is the injection. I am seriously SO blown away by his kindness and desire to help us, and still can't believe it. He ended up not only calling his Apri pharmacists, but called other pharmacists in the area, and the pharmacists who owns La Jolla Discount Pharmacy, David, agreed to drive all the way from Rancho Santa Fe at 11 pm at night aven though he has. Sick kid at home, and open the pharmacy for us make the trigger med and get it to us in time! He was also THE NICEST most helpful man and I can't believe he was willing to do that! My husband and I were and still are truly blown away at his willingness to do that! And it was unbelievable that we were already on our way to La Jolla Discount Pharmacy to go to the ER next to it. David luckily had all the personal phone numbers for our Gen 5 team, and he reached out to all of them trying to get approval to fill out. Our Gen 5 team is amazing and they all responded back to with approval. We are so thankful to our Gen 5 team for responding to David so late at night on a weekend- we are so appreciate and feel so lucky to have a team that really cares! We literally left the pharmacy at 12:15 to make it home right before our injection at 12:45. I am still blown away that worked out and truly feel like it was a miracle and we could not be more grateful, especially to Jason with Apri pharmacy and David with La Jolla Discount Pharmacy! And I literally have both their cell numbers now, and Jason told me he was planning to stay up and wanted me to call and let him know when we got the meds from David, and if there was any issue, he would help us troubleshoot more. My doctor's office straight up messed up on a Friday for a medicine I needed on a Saturday. David went above and beyond, opened up for me, and got me the medicine I needed. I have been using this pharmacy for years and I barely go anywhere else. The prices are amazing, and the people are very nice. It can some time to get your prescription filled, but if you call in ahead of time and let them know your coming, they can tell how long it will be to fill the prescription. First of all I was confused to read the bad reviews. I've been going to this pharmacy for almost 2 years and have never had an issue. The Staff, and Pharmacists are always super helpful and sweet. There prices have always been cheaper than the rest -and I have price matched. Most recently, I had an issue with picking up some meds and could not get to LJ Pharmacy before the closing time. David, the owner, offered to meet my husband after 9pm to pick up the crucial medication that I needed to take the next morning. Talk about exceptional service! How is this place still have its license. I had my prescriptions sent her for fertility since it was the same building as my clinic. They gave me the wrong type of medication once for fertility. Since then, I stopped going there. 9 months have passed since and I had a procedure where I needed my meds asap. I was on heavy mediation already from my procedure so I couldn't open all my bottles to check that it's correct. I get home and check the pills and they gave me 5 less pills for one of my antibiotics. The bottle says 28 and they only gave me 23. I needed all the pills. Now I am 6 hours away and have to get the additional pills elsewhere. Why oh why do they still have a license? read more

I will never forget walking in one day to pick up a fertility prescription and the boss was yelling at a young, female employee stating, "What, are you stupid?" I couldn't even believe it. I asked her if she was ok and she said that he was just in a bad mood. Infuriating. They may carry some non-standard meds - but their staff is The WORST!! Zero CSR skills - Zero accountability - LOTS of ineptitude. So many girls working there, yet, no body knows what's going on around them..they shrug a lot an say "we're doing the best we can", "someone's working on it", "I'm sorry we can't find your meds" ....even though it was called in twice, as they lost the first request). On one of several calls, it was suggested I call ahead, to confirm my prescription was ready for pick up. Quick in / quick out - avoid the 30+ minute parking fee. However, despite my call moments before I got there - NOTHING - couldn't find 'em. Once they did locate the meds, they had failed to ask for insurance information and never had anything about me on file. But but but I called and was told it was "ready & waiting"?!?!? - uhhhhhh kind face with an empty stare. It was SO frustrating (after SEVERAL phone calls and a totally wasted visit) I walked out w/o my meds. Just Infuriating. I'm all for supporting local business, when possible. Spend your time and hard earned $$ someplace else. read more

I have always been pleased with the efficiency and service provided by David and his team but this weekend was above and beyond! I accidentally left my refrigerated IVF meds out overnight and with both my DR and the pharmacy closed I was STRESSED. Amazing prices! This pharmacy is located in the scripps hospital on the ground level. I called around to prob around 15 pharmacies in San Diego and their prices were half of what others were charging for a non generic prescription. Seriously other places were quoting 200-300 for the script and it was 107 at La Jolla discount. My health insurance doesn't cover any scripts written outside of the network so this place saves a lot of money when I have to pay out of pocket. I got quick proficient service and they even told me if I find a better price else where they might be able to match it. I just have to let them know in advance and they will discuss with the manager. Free validation also. read more

My husband and I have been going through our fertility journey for some time now. We are on our 4th try and fingers crossed we will be blessed with healthy babies! So, I went to pick up my fertility medicine today and one of the medicines that was critical for me to start tonight was not included. I did not realize this until I had left and checked in with my doctor informing her of every med that was in my possession. My doctor reached out to the owner, David. I was a little worried when they were unlocking the doors at 9am to set up, but wow they were in place & spoke with me within seconds of opening. My Dr said they'd called ahead, but when I arrived I wasn't in the system. They took charge & called my Dr to get it straightened out. I am normally a CVS/ RiteAid kinda gal.. but I was directed to this pharmacy due to their competitive prices on specific medications I need. At first approach, it really does live up to the name-- DISCOUNT pharmacy. It felt like I had been transported to a PicN'Save from my childhood with recycled metal shelving and price gun labeling on a random assortment of pharmacy type needs. Despite the lack of glamorous settings, the pharmacy really has wow-ed me with their level of customer service. Both in person and over the phone -- they have been super kind, accommodating and informative. Even when they made a pricing mistake, they were quick to correct it over the phone and offer to send documentation via mail. I can't say anything about the drugs or pricing since I had no other choice but to come here.. but at least with the service and assistance I received -- I've been pleasantly surprised. It appears to be family-run which gets the additional star to a total 5. I have no qualms about this business and although no one likes entertaining medical concerns, they help make at least part of the process manageable. I appreciate that very much. read more
