I'd like to start by saying that the employees of this CVS location are exempt from this review. It's not their fault that they work for an evil empire. The pharmacy staff and employees have always been courteous and helpful to the best of their abilities. However, CVS is a monster. This organization is evil, and to detail that statement is beyond my ability to elaborate on in this short review. I will say this; the new pharmacy set up is awful. It is not HIPAA compliant because you can hear word for word everything each patient at the pharmacy window is saying, including their personal information, their prescriptions, etc. To make this matter worse, CVS has installed thick plexiglass between the pharmacy worker and the patient. So the patient has to basically yell in order for the pharmacy worker to hear them. Therefore, half the store can hear the person giving their name and birthdate, etc. So consider that hundreds of people are walking through the typical CVS pharmacy line per day and yelling at plexiglass... it is disgusting to see the spittle that is all over the glass and rarely cleaned. These employees are always shortstaffed and now they have to clean plexiglass between customers? Ick factor high. I need to find a new pharmacy. Lastly, don't ever try to call this pharmacy because you'll be thrown into an AI hell hole. You will not speak with a human being. If you're lucky, you will end up in a voicemail and get a call back. read more

When I went in here to pick up my prescription, they told me that my insurance would not cover it. They said my Medi-cal is refusing to pay because the doctor who's prescribing it is not a Medi-Cal approved doctor. This is incorrect and I had to have my prescription forwarded to Walgreens. Walgreens approved the insurance and I got my prescription. I tried to reach out to the management here and they ignored my calls. read more

I used the self-checkout. During my transaction, the checkout counter "activated" and electronically opened, exposing the inside of the machine, moving parts, wires, gears, and all. I stopped my transaction to let the cashier know, and she started babbling about paper coupons and this makes it "easier". I have no idea why. I didn't use any paper coupons bc it's 2026 and I scanned my card from my phone. This seemed like such a lazy, dangerous workaround in the middle of my transaction, for absolutely no reason. It caused me to drop products behind the register bc who expects the register to start MOVING during checkout. The cashier then has the nerve to tell me to "push it back in"? Absolutely not. I don't work there, don't know the machine, and am not going to injure myself because she was too bothered to walk 6 feet to close it. Overall a weird interaction, and the cashier was just angry or irritated the entire time. It's my local pharmacy so I have no choice but to use it in the future, unfortunately. read more

This CVS usually has everything I'm looking for at convenience prices. I'm able to grab a toy for my kid, some medicine for myself, snacks, diapers, etc. They do have issues sometimes with being open at their usual hours which can be frustrating as it's the only CVS around Martinez. read more

The pharmacy is the best I've been to. I have complex medical issues, and they are the most responsive, helpful people. If you leave a message, they call you back. I have used CVS Pharmacy for a couple of years and now that Rite-Aid closed nearby, the lines at CVS are always very long and you have to wait a very long time. YOU CAN NEVER SPEAK TO ANYONE AT THE PHARMACY BY PHONE. I spent 20 minutes this morning trying to get through to cancel my prescription account and never did get through and slammed the phone down, I was so pissed. You need to close your doors if you have no customer service. I transferred to Wal-Mart because there are NO lines, you can speak to someone on the phone the first time and not playing AI games, AND they can deliver to your front door for free if you are a member of Wal-Mart+(50% off if you have Cal-Fresh). I still have not cancelled my prescription unless I go down to the store and stand in line to tell them in person. God forbid you go between 1:30pm and 2:00pm which is lunch and they are closed. Wal-Mart is open all the time during business hours. Wal-Mart is fabulous and the pharmacy staff is superb!!! read more

They don't answer their phone. I needed to know if I could pick up my daughter's meds aftr her ER visit but no success getting through on the phone to the pharmacy or store front end. I tried to callcorporated for help but after 15 mins of waiting gave up A pharmacy clerk told me it's only designed for customers to leave a message and get a call back, but that this new phone system has not been working for some time. The store looks dirty and disorganized like one that could be soon closing for good? There are many items on the shelf up front with no pricing. I was needing to get passport pictures for my kids. When I found out the place we were going to go was closed, I discovered that CVS provided passport picture services. Who knew? Silvia took their pictures and was very helpful. We were in and out in about 10 minutes! $12.99 each to boot! Very satisfied and got what we needed done. read more

They can't get my meds on time, I've waited 13 days for my meds, they are rude and have lied to my doctor and to me about when they're gonna get my meds in. This Pharmacy is horrible when considering customers health, My wife was prescribed pain medication from a trauma center after being almost crushed by a vehicle. When I got there at 2:15 in the afternoon they told me they were closed at 2PM and have the hospital send the prescription somewhere else. Their attitude was rude. The manager was the worst. I went to their pharmacy today to get a prescription. First off, they didn't even know where the darn thing was so they had to refill it. Total waste of time. Then, they charge me $55 despite my being on a plan where the cost is $0. The final kicker? They actually charge to mail prescriptions. I am writing to express my concern and frustration regarding the poor service that I have experienced at the pharmacy of CVS. For over a week, I have been attempting to have my prescription medication filled, which is critical to my health as a diabetic. However, I have faced numerous challenges in this regard. Despite having received the prescription from my doctor, the pharmacy team has been uncooperative and unprofessional in their handling of my prescription. They have sent it back to my doctor three times, and on my most recent inquiry, I was informed that they were unable to fulfill my prescription. This has caused me significant anxiety and distress, especially since I am starting a new job today which requires me to be alert and awake. It is unacceptable that I have been treated rudely and dismissively by the pharmacy manager, who previously informed me that I could not obtain my medication from their pharmacy. Their careless behavior has caused me to fear for my employment and my health. As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect, empathy, and professionalism, regardless of my health status or prescription requirements. I hope that you will take steps to address this matter and ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future. And the worst part is I sent my complaint to customer service and they did nothing but say oh we sent it to the pharmacy manager the same person who created this problem I have moved on and left this pharmacy for good And was able to ask to start my work next week now that it's to late I have never been so poorly treated before I hope this review helps others read more

I wish I could divide this review in 2 parts. One for the pharmacy and the other for the rest of the employees and managers. Pharmacy: 5 stars! I recently switched my prescriptions from Walgreens to CVS and I could not be happier. The personnel are super nice and efficient. Hardly ever a line and my prescriptions are always filled and ready on top. They are the best! Cashiers/Managers: 1 star. I was overcharged for an item and asked the cashier what their store policy was when the scanned item comes in higher. She said she would give me the $1 difference back. I once again asked what the store policy was. Some stores give the item for free while others give a set dollar amount (I know this because this happens a lot!). She was mumbling and annoyed with the whole transaction and seemed like she was falling apart at my insistence for an answer. Next comes the floor manager who also doesn't know the store policy and declares "there is no store policy." I stood there and googled it and sure enough there is a corporate policy: If an item scans at a price higher than the shelf or lowest-advertised price, the company gives the item for free if the price is $4 or less or if the price is more than $4, the company is to provide the customer with $4 cash and refund the excess collected, if any. Next the store manager comes and she's aware of the policy but she doesn't refund correctly. I should have received the $1 back plus $4, instead she refunded the item and recharged at $4 less. You would think after CVS had to pay 2.4 million in a CA settlement that the employees would be trained in this matter. There is even a "Scan Right Guarantee" button on their computers and still the floor manager was indignant that there was no policy. So check your receipts and make sure you are charged correctly and refunded correctly as well. read more

The pharmacy is not good. For years I got my prescriptions filled at the Virginia Hills CVS, always great service. But when they closed that store and moved us to this store, the service from the pharmacy is awful. Always a long line waiting to p/u prescriptions, not enough help in the pharmacy. They should have predicted the additonal customers with the closure of the other store, but apparently have done nothing about it. If things don't get better soon I will be switching to Safeway of Walgreens. read more

I have come to this pharmacy for the last 3 years but as of today I have decided to no longer give them my business due to the horrible customer service at the pharmacy by the Pharmacy Tech. The pharmacists have always been nice and I have never had a problem with any of the staff for the rest of the store. I don't feel it is fair for me to give my buisness to a place that makes me feel uncomfortable over something so small (I asked them to put a Rx back due to me no longer taking it and it apparently being automatically refilled). Regarding the Pharmacy only, not the store, horrible experience. Will not be going back for medical care at this pharmacy. Incompetent, poorly trained giving Covid shots and paperwork - beware!, and will shut down the accordian door as you are waiting at the counter if it's 2 minutes to closing time (it's like a government job to them!). I will never go to a pharmacy again, especially this CVS, for booster shots, paperwork, prescriptions or customer service. This CVS is conveniently located just off of highway 4. This was especially helpful when I found myself with only 10 minutes in between meetings, a huge headache and no pain reliever. Parking was fairly easy, especially if you don't mind a short walk across the lot. The store is well organized and easy to navigate. I was able to quickly find a pain reliever and a few other items on my shopping list even with a huge headache. I am still a Target girl when it comes to basic health and beauty products but this store is a good option if I am in the area and in a hurry. read more

I never had any problems going to the Martinez, CA store until today December 14, 2017 at 2:07pm. I went to buy some supplements for my mother-in-law to help with weight loss; she's had them before and never had any problems. I new where the supplements were, so my shopping was easy. As I approached the cashier, Denise, she was tucking in her shirt. She wasn't wearing a name tag, but I found her name on my receipt. Without even greeting me, she picked up my item and commented "Those are dangerous" and shook her head. I told her they weren't for me, then she asked if I was over 18. I answered yes and showed her my ID. I felt really uncomfortable about her comment. After I made my purchase, she didn't say "Thank you" or any sort of greeting as I walked away. I thought she was very rude; she shouldn't assume that the item was for me and that she should keep her opinions to herself. read more

My family and I have been loyally shopping and filling prescriptions nearly 20 years. Customer service has never been consistent at this store but was absolutely shocked by how rude and unhelpful the pharmacy staff was to me today. Stood at pharmacy counter several minutes (no other customers in area) watching three of them chit chat until the young pharm tech girl with dark hair and bright blue tuft of hair in front, approaches me, seemingly annoyed that I have interrupted them by standing at the counter, and greets me tersely with 'do you have a question?'. 'No, I'm here to pick up my prescriptions'. There was an unusually high copay for one of them, so I asked if they could explain why, she tells me 'that's not how it works, you will have to call them'. Then when I ask for my other Rx, I'm told it can't be refilled until tomorrow (perfectly understandable). So I ask if they can refill in the morning so I can pick them up then. I'm then told 'you need to call to request that'. Seriously??? I'm looking you in the eye requesting it be refilled tomorrow. No 'sorry for any inconvenience', 'hello can I help you', let me double check on that copay per your request'. Do they need to add a class in pharm tech school on being polite to customers? Apparently CVS management could care less...one more chance CVS Martinez. Another bad experience and I will find another place to spend my money and fill my scripts. Step up your game and make your customers feel welcome or you will keep losing business. read more

Bev, cashier, is SO kind. I was buying a birthday balloon and it looked a little light on air. I asked how long ago the balloon had helium. She did not know, but offered to put more helium in it. It took one second and I was happy! Then a man on a scooter asked if he could hold s bag of grocery at the front so he could shop, Bev said, "sure! I am having a hard time understanding where all of the negative reviews are coming from. I have to start by saying I am a pharmacist, and practiced for 10 years. I also have to add that I have no affiliation with CVS or its employees therein. I have tried many pharmacies in the area, and this is the only one that is even remotely helpful. I also feel like the pharmacist goes out of her way to make things happen for me when the universe doesn't align with whatever random issue I may have. My experience is not isolated. I have been here 5-6 and have never experienced anything like other reviewers are speaking of. There aren't any long lines and the staff is always great. read more

I am beyond angry with how the cvs pharmacy handled a prescription for my husband. He recently under went extensive neck surgery which has left him in a significant amount of pain. When we went to have the rx filled the first sign that this was not going to be handled well was during the original approval. I called our nurse liaison to have her insure that the drug company would approve the medication. Because I know those things can take a little while, I told the male who took my prescription that we came from Benicia because the other pharmacies in our area didn't have the medication. I explained that I would go to the market and be back in about an hour to pick it up. While I was gone they received a call from the insurance adjuster approving the medication. I spent almost an hour and a half inside knob hill. When I returned to CVS the prescription was not filled but they said it had already been approved. They said it would take about 10 minutes to put it together and they would call me over the PA when it was ready. About 5 minutes later they call my husbands name and they tell me that they can't fill it because the DR. Didn't print his name out next to the signature. Nowhere on that piece of paper does it say PRINT NAME. That was only the first problem. The second issue was the Date. They said it looked more like an 8 than a 0. Now I don't know about you but Dr.'s Never print all pretty. Normally you can't even read what they wrote however was not the case on this prescription. So the pharmacist Ron Tom refused to fill it. I asked the pharmacist to call the dr office to confirm the information. Which he REFUSED to do. Mind you I have now been dealing with these idiots for 3 hours while my husband was in extreme pain. This dipshit pharmacist told me I would have to leave Martinez at 4 pm in traffic, drive all the way to pleasanton and back with something that is more legible. {{{are you friggin kidding me}}} So I call the Dr. Office the PA also called the CVS and told them it was a valid rx and to fill it. Nope wouldn't even listen to the dr. The dr that filled out the damn paper in the first place. My husband has been in the fire service for 26 years. He would never ever consider treating one of his patients with the disrespect and negligence that this pharmacist did. He too took a hippocratic oath to do no harm to a patient. An oath that this pharmacist apparently forgot about. My husband is now back in the hospital emergency room thanks to the inability of this pharmacist to do his job. Furthermore on the back of the prescription they added a note that said VOID which eliminated our ability to take it to another pharmacist that actually knew how to do his job. Tomorrow I will have to drive from Benicia to Pleasanton and then back again because of this man's incompetence. We will be suing CVS pharmacies and specifically Ron Tom for negligence and malpractice read more

This pharmacy is the worst. I recently changed insurance so I had to switch pharmacies (previously had Walgreens). I called this place at 9am to request a med transfer/refill. 4 hours go by and I heard nothing from the pharmacy about my meds. I called them only to have a rude staff member tell me it's not ready yet and hang up on me. I call again at 6pm, and they tell me there was no request for medication from me...??? So I call Walgreens, and they told me they never received a call from CVS about my meds. WTF. I ended up calling CVS again to put in another transfer request and they told me they don't know if it will before closing time... as if it wasn't their fault the transfer request wasn't put in earlier. Horrible customer service. The people working here don't know what they are doing and have the nerve to give you attitude because of it. read more

Prescription sent in VIA John Muir Health care at approx 12:30PM, I arrive to pick it up around 25 minutes later. I am told I would have to come back TWO HOURS later because the Pharmacist was preparing to go to lunch... when you need Immodium... 2 hours is a lot of time to wait but fine, I say "OK" and I leave, I call my wife and ask her to pick it up when she comes home from work. My wife arrives at 5:15PM and waits in a long line to be told what? That it is not ready and our Pharmacists has gone to lunch, can you wait 15 minutes. Do you think it was ready in 15? The answer would be "No" She waited the 15 minutes, asks for an update and is told she would have to wait 20 minutes more to when finally get her name gets called so she could then join the long line again to finally pick it up AND THEN... (yes my YELP friends, there is yet another "AND THEN") be told we are out of one item and you will have to come back tomorow. When they were Longs this NEVER happened... this is twice I have had CVS BS happen there and I am YELPING now dang it! NEVER AGAIN CVS, NEVER! read more

This is a great CVS, just as good of a store if not better than back when it was a Longs Drugs Pharmacy. I frequent this store most when (shhhhh, don't tell) I'm seeing a movie across the street and am trying to save a little dough on snacks. The best part is the staff totally knows what you're doing, it must happen all day long. I've rung up a candy bar and bottle of water, and on my way out the cashier has said "Enjoy your movie!" Totally busted. :) This store makes great use of their large space, and everything is well organized and easy to find. It can be a little chaotic in the front at times, there are usually displays set up focusing on the holiday candy du jour. But they are good for all the basics, and you can even buy Hallmark Christmas ornaments here. Their prices seem a bit steep here and there though, but are on par with Rite Aid down the street. The employees are all very friendly too - quite a few of them are holdovers from the old Longs, and they frequently sport big personalities and big smiles! A bit goofy at times, but I definitely prefer smiles over grumps! The parking situation is good too - even though they are in a shopping center and share their parking lot with many businesses and restaurants, no spot is more than a short walk away. read more

I needed some photos printed so I could make a little scrapbook for my boyfriend before he moves away for college. CVS was cheaper than Walgreens so I printed here. I got an email confirmation saying the order was ready for pickup at 3 AM this morning, so I came in at 6:30 PM. The lady at the register couldn't find them. Her supervisor Isaiah looked too and though the photos must have been printed, he couldn't find them either. Isaiah ended up reprinting all the photos for me and cut the price in half for the inconvenience. All in all, even with the mistake, I waited about 5 minutes for my photos and had a great experience. i normally don't write negative reviews but this is abt the phone convo i had with a staff member at the Pharmacy itself. I called for refill, and since i work down the street I thought it would be convenient to fill my DOG's rx there..boy, was I wrong! The person on the phone insisted that i get the actual DOB of my dog since I've never filled rxs at the Martinez CVS before even though I have filled prescriptions at another CVS pharmacy. She said there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING SHE COULD DO. I needed to do the leg work and call the other cvs pharmacy that we fill his SEIZURE meds at and find out what they have in their system. She didn't offer to call the other pharmacy, nothing..And i guess that is why she works there, i hope her customer service/pt/telephone skills improve. I was stuck in Marin because of traffic. So I looked for a CVS to make some prints from my phone. This store had a great station set up. I like stations that offer space to lay out prints to look at them, stools so I don't have to stand up too long. And I love the scanner which makes it easy to make reprints from past prints. This store was really a clean and friendly store to shop at. read more
