I needed items while I was in New York one day. I needed some sodas for our hotel room. My mom's back was acting up, so I also ordered some Epsom salts. After several years of coming here, I still maintain that this is one of the better CVS locations in the city, compared against other similar chains like Walgreens/Duane Reade and Rite Aid. It's overall clean, and shelves are organized and neat. They have high ceilings so it doesn't feel claustrophobic. They carry a decent number of drugstore skincare brands compared to some of their other city locations. Being part of a mass chain and being in the city does mean prices are higher, and in general CVS prices are kinda high compared to supermarkets for food, but hey it's really a pharmacy doubling as a convenience store and you'll pay higher convenience store prices for convenience everywhere. read more

I walked to the pharmacy asking if a could get a flu shot.. no I didn't have an appt & the rude woman shook her head.... I said you don't take walkins... she looked over at the pharmacist who shook his head.. no explanation whatsoever... I went to Walgreens where the pharmacist was cordial and explained that while the pharmacy closes at 6... they do the last vaccination at 5.... *This review is primarily for the CVS Minute Clinic.* Location: Easy to find. Practically a five minute walk from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. It's also easy to spot once you're on site. Check in: Process was extremely easy. I actually made an appointment online the day prior. They sent me reminders emails and text messages. I had actually arrived earlier than I needed to be. Once I was all checked in, the kiosk instructed me to return to the patient waiting area when my appointment time was 5 minutes away. Wait time: I waited maybe 10 to 15 minutes tops around the patient waiting area before I was called into the back. The reason I didn't hang in the actual waiting area is due to the fact that it's a small square shaped area with only 4 seats. As my medical need did not affect my ability to stand comfortably, I chose to leave the seating open for someone who needed it and was without an appointment time. Exam room: Was very clean and comfortable. It was a good size and all necessary medical instruments that you'd normally see in a doctors office was there. In fact, I was here for a simple earwax removal irrigation and it was all prepped and ready for me. Nurse Practitioner: Attentive and personable. She was chatty without being overly chatty, matter of fact and professional. She asked the standard questions, took my identification and insurance card for scanning, took my vitals, looked into my ears and explained the procedure to me before getting started. During the process itself, she made sure to check my comfort level and the whole problem itself was solved within 10 minutes. If you've never had your ears irrigated, I have to tell you it's the best feeling. I was able to tell immediately once she had blasted the wax off of my ear drum because I suddenly had dual sound again. (I'm one of those people who just has excessive ear wax apparently.) Pro tip: If you're irrigating one ear, you may as well irrigate the other too. You start off on the same clean slate with both and you don't have to wait for your irrigated ear to adjust to the same sound level of the non-irrigated ear. The way the insurance scanner works, she wasn't able to tell me until she was writing post procedure notes that my insurance went through. (I was prepared to pay the $100 fee for the ear wax removal. Low price to hear again as far as I'm concerned.) She instructed me to return if I had any sudden pain in my ear, etc. All in all, if I have this issue again, I'd be happy to return to this clinic for service. As for the downstairs portion of the store: the fact that you have to call for assistance with the beverages and frozen desserts says a lot about the issues this store must face being in such close proximity to Times Square nowadays. It's a two level store and only as I was exiting did I see maybe 4 employees. Naturally they had signs announcing they were hiring as most businesses do at this time. Also they no longer carry paper advertisements so if you want to see anything, use the app or the in store kiosk. read more

This is my pharmacy, since I work down the street and I like that I can order refills online or on their app. Unlike at other CVS locations, I have never encountered any mistakes by their staff or dealt with any frustrations. It is pretty often though that I have to wait a few days for a medication because they don't have it in stock and have to order it. They text me when it's ready though, so it's not a big deal unless I urgently need the drug. I get a lot of coupons from their ExtraBucks program, so I shop here a lot for household or personal items. With the coupons if you're smart about stacking you can get a lot of stuff really cheap or sometimes even free. read more

I spoke to Minna from this location over the phone and she was the most helpful pharmacist I've ever spoken to. Normally I feel they just try to get the calls in and out and she really seemed invested in helping me get the best deal and most convenience with CVS. I called to refill my birth control and as I recently quit my job I don't have insurance at the moment. Minna was so helpful in finding me a coupon to get a great rate on it and then when I realized this location wouldn't be open in time, she was able to transfer my prescription to another location. Most pharmacy staff wouldn't take the time to do that - they would just have me call the location so she is really going above and beyond. Much appreciation, she's a great employee, CVS! read more

We went there on Valentine's Day to look at the new spring plushies when we approached the new spring plushies a rude employee by the name of "Lotoya" or something very similar said "these aren't for Valentine's Day " in a rude tone to have us leave when she was pushing the merchandise as if we clearly couldn't recognize that the plushies were not Valentine's Day themed. She then preceded to say "excuse me" in a loud rude manner as she was called away by an employee. She clearly is a miserable member of staff and shouldn't be working there. read more

As I sit here at week 7 of pandemic closures, I have been thinking of delayed Yelp reviews I can write-- ones I've forgotten about and need to catch up on! Although I'm writing this in April, my experience with this CVS happened in November of last year. I was staying nearby at the Residence Inn, which is just a short walk from this CVS. I often went to this CVS to get water, snacks, etc. However, I was in NYC for a very particular reason-- like most people in NYC that weekend, I was there to conquer the NYC Marathon. My training had been plagued by countless injuries and I was nervous I'd even finish! The morning of my flight to NYC (Friday) I woke up with a "weird" feeling that I was getting a UTI. At first I tried to dismiss it. But throughout the day it pained me to think "You came all this way, limped through an abbreviated training just to run this race...and could get sidelined before you even start by a UTI of all things!" I couldn't risk it. I had to book a Minute Clinic Appt. I booked for the next day (Saturday). I was nervous about being in that area with other sick people, but I made sure I used my hand sanitizer often. You just go right up to the screen and check yourself in. Seeing other people waiting made me think I'd be waiting hours even with an appt. However, as soon as the NP popped out, he said my name. I was pleased they were running on time! If I remember correctly, the NP's name was Ben and he was AWESOME. Even though there were people stopping and asking to talk to him, he politely let them know he had a patient to take care of (me! lol) and that he'd be with them as soon as he could. What I appreciated most was that in a city that constantly feels "rushed," he took so much time in explaining everything to me, he even personally walked me back to the restrooms to get the sample. He took time explaining the whole "leukocytes" in the results, etc. When he came to the conclusion that I should get put on an antibiotic, we talked a lot about what would not limit my performance the next day (race day!). Although it wasn't entirely evident that I had a UTI, he saw enough leukocytes to feel I needed treatment (lest it get worse on my big day!). He also encouraged me to buy some OTC options in case I started experiencing pain. Overall, he is just a fantastic NP and I hope he's still at this location. He made a difference to me on a day where I was uneasy and nervous. Thank you, Ben! And I'm proud to say that I successfully completed the NYC Marathon the next day! :) read more

Worst experience in a CVS. At every corner, there are employees welcoming you and asking what your looking for. At first it was nice, but after 4-5 more - I'm like seriously ? Worst part was- the security guard accused my 16 year old son of stealing a toothbrush. He made him stay put until I came over. When I asked what the problem was, the security guard said nothing and walked away. My son told me how he wanted to know where the toothbrush was that he was carrying around (it was in my shopping basket btw) . The store itself was HUGE and selections of products was unreal. But it was a really bad experience, and scary for my son. They were just looking for trouble, must've been bored and resorted in accusing people of theft. read more

I put a disposable camera with very important photos in at this 1440 Broadway store on Jan. 3, 2020. The gal at the counter said she could not take them as they did not have the internal book? But her colleague said do not listen to her she is just talking we can do it and took my camera. It is now Feb. 10 and no one can tell me where my photos are. I have gone in every day and the store manager has tried to help too on 2 occasions. He even called his vendor Yesvideo who also has no record. There was a USPS tracking number which said they were delivered to CVS Friday, Feb. 7 at 8:00 pm but Monday morning still no sign of my photos. Beyond upsetting. Wrote to CVS online and got 3 different responses from there different people...none of them able to help. These were non replaceable photos of someone who is dying. There seems to be NO system in place...the photo filing is a mess. Never again. read more

Nowhere on the receipt does or packaging does it say this too. Tried to return an unopened, unused box. Earned my free Essie nail polish, but when i went to self check out, and scanned my coupon, the machine said held needed so the guy comes over scans his tag clicks some thing and tells me to proceed so i put my coupon in the coupon slot. Clicked the finish button to find that the Essie was showing up at full price. I told him the coupon didn't work and he gave me attitude explaining to me that the item exceeded the coupon value. The coupon value was up to $12 and the item was $9. Then i had to wait several minutes while they tracked down someone with the coupon box key so they could scan it at the register. Worked fine at the register, so don't act like I'm stupid and can't do math when your machine are malfunctioning. read more

Visit on 11/16/20: From Andrew, who helped me to get a same-day appointment when I was having a bit of trouble with the website, to Martha, who prepared my insurance and other paperwork, helped me to pick out a suitable pair of frames, and generally took care of me during my entire visit, to Dr. Waggoner, who throughly examined my eyes and explained their condition in language I could understand, this place seems to be humming along quite professionally, indeed. This level of customer service used to be more common; now that it is not, it becomes noteworthy when one is treated to it. During my visit, I found out that during these Covid times, the DMV is not doing eye tests: yet another reason to avail yourself of the professionalism here, should you need to renew your license. Pro-tip: the Broadway/40th St. exit for the Broadway lines at 42nd Street / Times Square station leads to their front door! I will return in 7-10 business days when my glasses are ready to have Martha adjust them for me. I'll update this review at that time--perhaps to 5 stars! read more

My son purchased his contacts thru this CVS on 1440 Broadway thru their optical dept. We were told that if we purchased a year, we would receive a credit from Acuvue. Unfortunately, we were having a hard time collecting our credit. After numerous calls & emails to Acuvue, we contacted the Optical Manager; William, who proceeded to help us with this problem. A local and long time CVS regular customer, I was a recent patron at this branch on this particular ocassion because it is one of the only stores in Manhattan with an optical center. Basically I've visited several eyeglass providers but only at this location was I able to have my current prescription lenses refitted into a replacement Nautica frame. Guillermo Butler (Willy) was a professional and resolved my problem, first after I called in advance and I presented my problem and he persuaded me to come in; then second, after he analyzed my broken Burberry frame and assessed my lenses, he took the time and found a comparable stylish frame where my current lenses could fit, and that was to my satisfaction. Would have been a bonus if I could have used my CVS coupon or AAA card discount, but otherwise, I felt good enough to write this positive review and recognize Willy, who is good at what he does because he's been doing it for a long time, and in my opinion represents one of the best at CVS. read more

Watch your money! I was paying the cashier talking with my daughter, gave a 100 dollar bill, almost left when I saw that the cashier Crystal paid based on a 10$. bill. I wanted to think she made an innocent mistake but its how she handled it that raised red flags and even my daughter (18) said she most probably does this a lot. The cashier didn't apologize, didn't seem flustered except for the fact that I caught it.
