This is the worst pharmacy in NYC. They don't call with an issue. They ignore the problem and then act annoyed when you have to ask multiple questions to figure out why a prescription isn't being filled. The woman who works is incompetent and makes up information. read more

I love this place...it is an "upgraded" version of the Walgreens in the Loop in Chicago...staff was friendly and efficient. While on vacation in NYC I stopped in to get Shampoo/Conditioner and the stuff that you need but cannot carry when you do not "check" your bag in to avoid paying luggage fees at the airport when flying coach. I loved the unique Hask Blue Chamomile Blend Shampoo and Conditioner that I purchased and have never seen before.... This store is great! I have been to the Walgreens on 23rd and park which is terrible, like being in the post office. If you walk to 28th and Park you have a great experience. Convenient and right across the block from where I work. Great spot to pick up some snacks when the craving hits me. This place is loaded with them. Along with all the bad fattening snacks they also have a wide variety of nuts,dried fruits, and trail mixes. Sometimes they run sales on these. A few different varieties of their own De-Lish brands of pretzels are a perfect choice to snack on throughout the day when dieting. One of my favorites are the Honey Wheat Braids. Nice and cheap too. Staff here is still a little off-putting but I'm just usually here to grab something and go. read more

"Everywhere you go... Duane Reade" Seems like a cookie cutter of generic drugstores cropping up everywhere dominating the City That Never Sleeps. I stopped by to quench my thirst for vitamin water towards the end of my workday when my favorite brand of Sobe Vitamin Water, Fuji Apple Pear was down to the last one. I happen to luckily purchase the last bottle. Duane Reade needs to restock plentifully as in retail it is unacceptable to be completely out of stock to meet the demands of business. read more

This review is for the Pharmacy only. it is a hot mess. Each month when I pick up my prescription, I have to allocate 30 minutes to wait on line, have some complication arise, and then finally be able to check out. At the other pharmacies (for example the 35th & Broadway location), I am in and out the door in 2 minutes. On one occasion two cracked out looking older men came in looking for syringes. The cashier who was in the process of helping me actually stopped in the middle of our transaction to honor their request! She found a box of them under the register and was going to give them to him (saying, this is the last time -- meaning she's done this before!) but luckily the pharmacist came over and stopped her. The men started arguing but luckily she finished ringing me up so I didn't have to witness the conclusion to that. On another occasion, I waited on a long line only to be told that my prescription wasn't there (after spelling out my name 3 times) and that I needed to go to the drop off counter and have them put in my order again. I ended up waiting at the drop off counter (behind a line of very complicated cases) until the woman there told me that my prescription is already in the system! Finally came back to the pick up counter and the woman found my medicine -- it had been filed under the wrong letter! What a waste of time. They either need to get more staff in the pharmacy or just get their act together. It's never an easy process getting your prescription here! read more

Terrible experience at the pharmacy. Waited 45 from my appointed time for a booster shot and couldn't wait any longer because people do have to work in this city. Had to cancel. No explanation or apology as they just made an error. If errors happen in the front not sure what's going on in the back when they give the shots. Won't be going back. read more

Being pregnant comes with some annoying side effects, one of which is indigestion. I came here during a late night looking for a healthy snack that wont make me feel sick, and settled on a pack of MANGO SPEARS $5.99 in the refrigerated section. It was surprisingly delicious! Some were definitely not ripe enough yet but it was all crunchy and fresh. I came back the next day like a crack fiend looking for more but they were out of it. So disappointed... Going on a hunt for more mango sat another Duane Reade now. read more

I live down the block from this Duane Reade, and I am in there at least 4 times a week or more. The staff there is the most amazing staff ever. They are always friendly and efficient. With all that is going on now with the CV, they are on double time stocking up on items that are needed and continue to be there to help with anything you need, and still have a smile on their face. *Review for pharmacy only!* I'm shocked to see such terrible reviews of this DR's pharmacy department. I've only had positive experiences when dealing with both the pharmacists and cashiers. Unlike several other locations I've been to, the pharmacists here are extremely attentive to detail. The medication I'm on has several generic versions that are considered the same by the FDA, but through trial and error, I've found that only one has the least side effects. All other pharmacies (both DR and other stores) told me I had no choice and gave me whichever version they were stocked with. The pharmacists at this location not only noted my request, but also consistently provided the specified version. They were extremely polite and understanding on the phone (more so than my own doctor) and have always refilled on time. read more

The thing I see here is that they just don't care. People are lining up and the staffs are still chatting, laughing, and moving slowly. It's always a long wait in line during lunch hour. The manager is even slower when people need to make a return. read more

I mean.... it's a Duane Reade y'all. You get what you get more or less the same way you'd get it at any other Duane Reade. Plenty of overpriced options available for you when you can't make it to a grocery store. I suppose since this one is located in Midtown East there's an even steeper premium. Stick to items on sale and getting your prescriptions here and you'll be more than fine. Pro tip: there's a Trader Joe's just a 7 minute walk away. read more

I just went in at around 8pm 12/27/20 to purchase some soap after getting a couples massage a block away and as soon as we stepped we were racially profiled by the nypd officer posted in front. I was in with my boyfriend and we are both people of color. She immediately followed us to the soap isle then followed us to the contact lenses section. When we started walking to the cash wrap she was surprised and walked the other way. I immediately called her out for racial profiling us and which she got belligerent and started to threaten us even though we did absolutely nothing wrong! After we purchased our item, which I shouldn't have even got from there at this point, she threatened to call for back up and arrest us because i called her out on following us for no reason. We barely went down one isle before she started following us! This is completely unacceptable! On top of this the woman employee there with the glasses and box braids (who im pretty sure was a manager from the shirt, came to the front, did nothing and as we left telling off NYPD she flipped us off. The officer also watched us from inside the store to see what kind of car we were getting in and the plates. This is absolutely disgusting. Even worse the employees either walked away and the manager actively taunted us with the nypd officer. The officer would not give me her badge information or her name and hid her plaque. I tried to get a picture as she watched us get in our uber but she then ran away. Worst of all the employee was someone apart of my cultural background who didn't even see what happened prior to her coming over to the officer. I am completely disgusted and will be contacting my attorney for assisting the discrimination on behalf on NYPD. I work a few blocks away and I understand there are a lot of unfortunately homeless people who have to steal for basic necessities, but not every black person in a large winter jacket is a f*kin thief. Sad because my jacket is from Stone Island and probably cost more than her paycheck! Sooo disgusting especially after a year of protests over this very issue! read more

I assumed that this Duane Reade would be very busy as it is in surrounded by buildings and offices. I come here offend to pick up quick drinks or snacks, the options are alway different as if they don't restock at all. The staff is lacking and the ones that are there don't seem like they want to be there. I hope they improve the quality of this store. read more

After reading the reviews, I am not surprised. Duane Reade always seems to have the most unfriendly workers. Kinda like Popeyes and Burger King. But it gets an A-OK from me because they are very well stocked and...wait for it...they have cadbury mini eggs! Usually every Easter season I am searching numerous Duane Reades to find them and this one had at least 10 bags there. That raised em a star in my book! read more

This place is convenient to my apartment, so it's my go-to for anything I need quickly in the middle of the night. They have great prices on eggs and their selection of make-up is pretty good. However, their pharmacy line is SLOW, SLOW, SLOW. In fact, it is so slow, that I walk to the Walgreens on 23rd to pick up my prescriptions. Also, the staff can seem really zombie-like and inattentive, and at times a really long line also builds up at the counter. Not my first choice for a pharmacy/convenience store. read more

She never asked if I had a reward card. When I told her that I had one she started having an attitude saying well I asked you if you had one. This is seriously the worst drug store in America! The staff are incompetent at best. I work right above this location and often must shop here for convenience purposes only. However, there is always a huge line, and the staff is always SLOW! They often mislabel products as being on sale, and frequently have expired goods on the shelves. Do not go to this store!!! Last note to Management: You should all be fired, if in fact there is a management team. I have never, in 4 years here, seen one employee move faster than a snail or even crack a smile. This review is strictly for the pharmacy team. I work across the street and I have been a regular customer for years now. The service used to be mediocre at best, but the last few months I've been going in I've noticed a huge improvement. They have two new pharmacists Narai and Aaron who understand customer service. They're quick and personable. I actually did not find this to be the case with Susan and Tiffany. I would stand waiting at the consultation area to ask a question and Susan would be busy chatting with the other pharmacist Yvonne or Tiffany would be on a personal call and couldn't be bothered. There is a really nice lady that works in the morning named Nalini, who is awesome. I think management finally made some much needed changes at this store. read more

Pharmacists are incredibly rude. My doctor recommended me to switch to a different Walgreens because her patients had bad experiences at this drugstore. I was in hurry and this was the closest one, so I just went there. It took three times longer because they screwed up my prescription and they were unbelievably rude on the top of that. Good evening. Tonight I went to your location on Park Avenue between 27th and 28th street. While waiting in a line that was 7-people deep I was fortunate enough to get to hear ALL about the shift your employees Shondra and Tiffany K were having. They were kind enough to include the entire line in their conversation about their plans for their day off tomorrow as well as how their shifts were going today. We also got to hear about how Tiffany didn't care about Shondra because she didn't ask her what was wrong and why she wasn't feeling good. I was so enraptured by their conversation I almost didn't care that I waited in line for 10 unnecessary minutes. I also appreciated that Tiffany felt comfortable enough with her customers to keep eating her bag of chips while cashing people out. All in all it was another great experience at this location where professionalism and customer service continue to be the top priorities. read more

The Pharmacy department here is amazing. Tiffany and Susan, who run it, are always friendly and attentive. I take quite a few medications and they have gone out of their way to help me many times when my insurance has given me trouble. The support staff knows me by name and are always helpful, especially Daxa. Love them! read more
