Their Covid-19 policy is a joke! I was there a couple of weeks ago. My cashier's mask didn't cover her nose. I complained. Today I went back and NEITHER cashier was wearing her mask properly. My same cashier (Debi) still wasn't wearing her mask to properly cover her nose. The other cashier (female, Hispanic) was waiting on customers with her mask down around her chin. A drugstore serves many people who are pregnant, elderly, or have medical conditions. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION !!! Me and my family of 10 have been loyal customers of Long Drugs and CVS Stores for over 50 years . Never have I been through the ordeal I went through at CVS located at 3320 Fruitvale Ave, Oakland, CA 94602 Today 4/28/22 at 11:40 am . I had a pick up order . There was a store security worker sitting in front . I asked him , " I have an online order , where do I pick it up ?" He tells me in condescending manner , " That's not something that we do here because someone asked the same thing yesterday . I said , " Well, I have the confirmation email that says that this is the store the order should be picked up from . He says very rudely " How you gone tell me , I been working here for 2 years ." I said , Ok, I'll ask the clerk . I stood in line and patiently waited my turn as the store was extremely short staffed . When I got to the line I told the clerk I have a online order . She proceeded to give me my order . I told her , " I'm confused , the security told me something different, she said " the online order is new this week and no one told them about it . One other employee said they never got the memo . I asked can I have the security guards name because he was extremely rude and unprofessional. Definitely not the CVS customer service I'm used to experiencing elsewhere . She said she had no idea what his name was, it was like she was afraid of him . He walks up to me very closely , in a threatening manner and say " that's what I was trying to tell you , but you were over talking me . I said , " you didn't say that to me , in fact you were rude . I said "please stop talking to me " , he said you're still talking . It went into a back and forth , at this point I'm upset . He says " are you mad , you're mad huh " . It was like he wanted to pick a fight . He uses profanity and tells me to get my ASS out of the store, he was standing very close , and started threatening me , saying I ain't gone do nothing . I asked for his name . He said his name is Malcolm , and that I can call whoever because they're not going to do anything to him . In fact , he was so bold as to follow and taunt me outside of the store . It's obvious that the coworkers , managers at that location are afraid of him . Me or my family will never return to CVS stores and I will continue to spread the word about this location . Additionally , I will be sure to let everyone know via social media, yelp , Google reviews what kind of people CVS employs . The parking lot is disgusting and they don't care about the graffiti on their building. Sends a clear message that they don't care about Oakland or my neighborhood. Amazing what they may not have. This pharmacy sucks!! There are multiple people behind the counter but they prefer to let customers wait then help. They never call you when your prescriptions are ready nor when its backed up. I wish I could give negative stars. This is for the pharmacist on duty on 7/28/21. I only changed to this pharmacy because it's close to my house. They filled my medication, and it ended up being a different brand than from my old pharmacy. I only realized that they gave me something different when I got home. With this specific medication, there is a risk that the same dose can vary from band to brand. I'm a cancer patient and I'm expecting a baby; knowing what changing brands does, I politely inquired if I can return the medication back based on my circumstances. The pharmacist refused to do it, and moreover said that I was condescending to him when I asked him if he will be ok with me potentially experiencing side effect from this medication ( I had to stay my grounds because they have me 3 months supply). Then he hung up the phone!! Zero customer service and understanding of personal health circumstances. People in this profession forgot they are dealing with human life. If I knew they will be changing the brand, I would never even transferred. He could have worked with my situation, but he chose not to; he even acknowledged that I was correct about experiencing side effects when brands are changed for this specific medication. This is pure negligence, and "professionals" like this should not be given license. read more

It was a part for an inhaler for my CHILD, and all they had to do was put it in a damn bag and they told me to come back later. I did go all the way back after my child was in bed. If i could give this pharmacy ZERO stars i would. IF i could give the asian gentlemen who works at the cashier 10 stars over the pharmacy I WOULD because he and the pharmacy cashiers are their ONLY asset. Medications are consistantly later and later to the point i was being called every other day to pick up meds, they could never get the order right and at one point mailed medications that never arrived nor could be traced by USPS. THey even tried to mail me controlled substances and I had to inform them that that is ILLEGAL they cannot do that, they fought with me and my doctors for a month over my liquid morphine script which insurance had already approved due to a no cure spine disease and is being monitored by multiple medical teams, doctors also sent them an order for prednisone to increase my lung function a month ago and NOTHING. Both myself and my medical team had enough and transferred to a mom and pop compound pharmacy and i have filed now TWO board of pharmacy complaints against them which were deemed VALID. RUN if you can to the mom and pop pharmacies like Wellspring or High Street in Oakland or Daniels in SF. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. This old converted Long's drugs has been there ever since I was a kid. The employees at this store has always been so nice and helpful. Now CVS, you need to pick up a CVS card for every purchase at the store and in return you get random coupons attached to your receipt. Often times, it's free money or $10 off purchases of $25 or more. The card is free, but means you gotta lug it around. Fortunately, I have an iPhone app that stores the bar code and they can actually just scan from my phone. read more

I placed my order online. once my order was ready for pick up I went to CVS, parked my car in their curbside pick up area, clicked on the I am here on the CVS app and it said we will notify employee that you are outside but no one came out. I clicked on the thing 4 times. After 30 mins I called the store but no one answered the phone. The store was open. I saw customers coming in and out. Because CVS is a chain pharmacy, all pharmacies should have same system but after drug out of stock at my regular pharmacy which is on Broadway In Oakland, I went to 5 other CVS pharmacies in the area all denied.,the the finally I went to this pharmacy.First they denied to fill up the prescription due to my Doctor's location, they told me that since my doctor is in Walnut Creek,they take only local doctors, I was depressed to hear that ,this is ridiculous how can they do that . This CVS is near my house but it isn't convenient to shop here. I feel like I am not worthy of the employees time because I am often ignored especially by cashiers who think socializing with other people than working is more important than helping me. The employees attitude for customer service is apparent that if you are not a friend of the employees you do not deserve to be helped. I have been going to CVS for prescriptions for years in various locations, and I must say this location has the worse customer service. I called to get assistance before sending someone for a prescription and the woman in the phone was rude. Usually CVS first asks for the date of birth, as I was giving her the DOB, the woman cut me off, with a tone, and ask for the name, and then for the DOB I had already given her. She didn't ask what she could help me with, and instead asked what I wanted. As I explained she said ok to what I said and yet again said, "what is it that you want?" Seriously? I am telling you the reason for the call and you get a tone. Corporate should do something about this. I am not the only person who has had this experience, my family members have too. If you need a prescription, go to a different CVS location and avoid being mistreated. OMG. You know all that crap that is sold at the Laney Flea Market - the bright plastic jewelry, giant fake gold "Chanel" earrings, the neon-colored leggings, etc. etc. Well, you can see all that crap actually being modeled by the people that frequent this store. Whenever I come here, there invariably is someone trying to return some sort of shite that they bought somewhere else or stole somewhere else. I have witnessed fights between customers in the aisles over the last remaining Dak canned ham that was on sale. But you know what? This is the only drugstore in SF and Oakland that carries the kind of ear plugs I use, so I will continue to patronize this business, despite all of the above. They recently converted the Longs Drugs in my neighborhood to a CVS Pharmacy. At first I was really bummed because this was one of my favorite Longs Drugs. They always had my favorite salad dressings, teas and other specialty items at very reasonable prices. At first when they were doing the conversion to CVS, it didn't seem much different except they encouraged us shoppers to get a CVS card. I held out for a few weeks because my key ring is already too heavy but then I ended up getting one because I didn't want to pay full price for an item that was on sale. And now, here it is, many months later......I really like my neighborhood CVS Pharmacy. Each time I shop there, the cash register spits out these coupons where you get $3, $4 or sometimes $5 off purchases of $20, $25 , etc., or a percentage or dollar amount off certain types of products. They also have buy one get one free coupons on some of their generic items, which I've found to be pretty close to the brand name equivalent. During my last visit to CVS, I found out they have little red machine in the store that you can insert your CVS card into if you don't have any coupons and it will spit out coupons that you can use at the register on that day. The pharmacy expects drug addicts, it can be a real problem for legit customers. My husband had emergency oral surgery at Stanford. He was given a prescription for 3 meds - an antibiotic, a pain killer, and some type of mouth wash. He went to this CVS near our house to fulfill it but they wouldn't give him anything. They said his prescription wasn't real. He showed them his mouth, with the fresh stitches. He had the doctor call them. The person who talked to the dr said yes we'll give him the meds. He returned but the answer was still no. By this time it was evening, too late to go somewhere else. He spent the first night after his surgery with no meds. Pretty sad. read more

Started coming here a few years ago after a poor experience at the CVS in Montclair. I come during less busy hours and always have pleasant interactions with the pharmacy techs and store staff. Reading the negative reviews, they seem like they're all written by snobs. It's pretty standard for a CVS in a heavily-trafficked area of a city. Go to lafayette or marin if you want immaculate parking lots where they shoo away homeless people like they're vermin. And I've never seen a CVS with a bathroom, so no surprises there. read more

I LOVE CVS!!! Employees here are always really friendly & helpful. They are always asking if I need help finding something, or if I need help in general. I like to coupon and the cashiers always puts up with my confusion, is always PATIENT with me, and even helps me with my couponing! woohoo I love the little red magic machine that spits out coupons when you scan your card! I swear, some days when I have nothing to do...I just want to go and scan my card. haha. I also love that they have a huge huge huge parking lot which makes it so much easier for me to find parking compared to the Lakeshore location! Since this CVS is so close to my school & mom's restaurant...I am ALWAYS here!! Thank you CVS for being so close! One negative aspect is that there is always someone outside the store asking for money...and I'm not referring to the donation/salvation army stand. read more

So this is just a basic CVS -- nothing fancy or too memorable. However, they do have a very friendly staff from what I have encountered. Merchandise is well stalked and fairly tidy. They do have longer lines as mentioned, but I feel that is typical for anywhere in this district. You just need to be patient. read more

CVS prices have gone up and item's have been discontinued. There selection is fairly decent that you can probably get most of your items on your list in one stop. Beware when coming here at night, because there are a lot of drunks who comes in and starts screaming for no apparent reason. It's convenient that it's open until 10, however if you need something past 10, go to their 24 hour store on 51st and Broadway. (way better selection) They do have good sales from time to time but not as how it was when the store was Longs Drugs. Their pharmacy personnel rarely changes. Still the same great people working there. Overall just an average store that you can stop in for when you need to get something quick. read more

Gotta love the neighborhood CVS. After driving to three other locations a few being in Alameda, I came to this location and found the Milani brand of cosmetics that I was looking for. Guess I shouldn't have made assumptions about the "hood" store. Parking can get tricky due to the shared lot with Farmer Joe's and the ride share commuters sometimes park here too. The best thing is that parking is usually not a problem, but picking up prescriptions always is. If you're lucky it'll be ready when they say, but don't count on it. There is always a line, and there is always drama at the counter --it's not just people picking up prescriptions, it's people dealing with obscure problems, being called back to the window out of turn since they already stood in line once, stuff like that. I only come here if I HAVE to and if I have time to wait in lines. Their product selection is fine, but the staff are usually half-assed about everything and getting through check-out takes forever. Just like the Safeway around the corner, I wish this CVS would up their game a bit to fit the new atmosphere of the neighborhood. After taking my elderly mom that cannot walk (wheelchair dependent) to three cvs pharmacies to get a Covid 19 vaccine booster shot, this one took her because the pharmacist and her entire staff are very caring people. They were appalled that the other cvs pharmacist didn't take us. The reason was because even after making an appointment through their app, it didn't show up on their side. Again, my mom is elderly, in a wheelchair, and it's very hard for her to get in and out of a car. Their was no sympathy or compassion from the pharmacist at the CVS in Lincoln Square Shopping center (4100 Redwood Road). Even after I showed him on my phone that the appointment has been confirmed, he said that it didn't matter even though it's from the cvs app that is on my phone!! However, again, this CVS (6250 Broadway) has the Best pharmacist and staff!! Super caring people that actually wants to help people!! I don't know. I have no problem with CVS in general. This one just feels dingy and run-down. Outside of this CVS it's fairly nice; inside, it feels dark & dreary & just not good. I had a prescription to pick up; the pharmacy didn't have it on hand so had to order it. They were very nice and tried calling around for me (or I think they did, anyway), and weren't able to find it; instead, they got it in a few days, on the day they'd said they could get it. Reasonably pleasant experience in terms of customers service, which is a reasonably big deal. Line at the pharmacy moves super slow - but that's fair; I mean, people picking up meds are often not entirely well, right? So it makes sense. Can't ding them for that. on 11/29/2011 at approx. 12:00 noon entered a CVS store located at 3320 Fruitvale Avenue Oakland,Ca. 94602 to buy a carton of cigarettes. Once there i spoke to a checker that said the Mgr. would have to get them for me. When the Store Mgr arrived (name unknown) he said that if i was going to buy cigarettes that I had to use cash and he wouldn't take any other forms of payments. At that point i asked "why cash only" he said because to many people use false credit cards for cigarettes and that he wouldn't take any other forms of payments. I have bought my items from this store,with both credit cards and cash since it opened and I have never heard of anything like this before. I asked him is this a written store rule?he stated "no" but as a Mgr he could do what ever he wanted. So at that point i paid in cash and left the store. Closest drugstore and good for prescriptions. They are often out of products and the lines can be horrific. I know it isn't Pharmaca but wish they carried more natural products. How I miss the huge Longs (it will always be Longs in my mind not Rite Aid or CVS) that was at 51st and Broadway - open 24 hours and had a fabric section, clothing, housewares, hardware, automotive and tons of plants.
