This is one of the absolute worst locations in all of San Diego County. The pharmacy does not have their shit together at all whatsoever. It's always kind of bizarre to me when I see such a low rating for places like CVS or any other drugstore. I mean, it's a drugstore, what do you really expect from it? Since Rite Aid down the street closed and became a makeshift, impromptu, and illegal homeless hangout, this became the place I started to come to for simple necessities that I need faster than an Amazon Prime delivery. It's not a Target, it's not a grocery store, it's a drugstore. Who hangs out and actually spends any significant amount of time walking the aisles? Yeah, NOBODY! Hence I can't believe the passionate words stabilizing the low reviews. You go in, you grab what you need, you pay, you leave... that's it. This location is near Rolando and College area. It's very clean and organized here. The pharmacists are helpful and answers all of my questions. I really like the drive thru pharmacy; I have anxiety standing in long lines for a period of time so this help me so much. ARE YOU KIDDING ME I came in today to buy grenadine for a Shirley Temple for a Valentine's Day themed party. The cashier at the front told me I needed an ID to purchase. Wouldn't even tell me what age the ID needed to say. Last time I checked you don't need an ID to purchase non alcoholic SYRUPS. Frustrated and wasted my time. Blown away by how rude I was just treated. Came in like usual to get my meds that have been ready for pickup and there was no one in line. The cashier lady looked me in the eyes, pushed a button and closed a gate door in my face and said sorry closed for lunch. I understand lunch and I understand customer service. Upon picking up medication from this Pharmacy, what lay in plain view of the employees was so DISGUSTINGLY UNPLEASANT, where signing for medication was what appeared a bloodstained napkin which no one including the employees ACKNOWLEDGED!!! This is my closest CVS Pharmacy but I've always had great experiences here. I went here Monday night to get 3 new prescriptions for my son. The person helping me at the register was really helpful and friendly and actually took the time to have a conversation with me about my day and we talked about hating eye drops as that's what 1 of my sons prescriptions were and how much I was dreading giving them to him. Sadly I didn't catch their name but they did have really cool purple hair. My receipt said David but not sure if that's correct or not... anyway, I appreciate the kindness and normal human interaction. (Writing this as part of a highlight to my experience is actually pretty sad considering this is what customer service is but most places haven't been as friendly since Covid in my opinion so feel like I need to mention it!) I feel like this job is very demanding and I'm sure you all constantly get angry customers because your job entails dealing with sick people and insurance... just wanted to make sure to say thanks! My personal experience is that this CVS discriminates especially towards women and who are NOT WHITE! They are rude and treat people horribly! I now go to Rite Aid and have no problems there! I have now been in line 3 times today alone because they can't get organized. They couldn't find the prescription then said it can't be filled because it won't be ready for 5 days even though it's an antibiotic after surgery. Now they finally figure it out and can't find it. I have been waiting nearly an hour for my prescriptions to be filled, that were called in over two hours ago while I was in surgery. When I got to the pharmacy, they said they needed to do additional confirmation with my dental office - which they waited another 20 minutes to do. After waiting 40 minutes in the pharmacy, my partner went to check with the pharmacist how much longer we would be waiting. They said the prescriptions would only be covered for 6 days. So we then had to go to another line to have the other pharmacist tell us that the prescriptions were not covered - a change that occurred somehow between us walking between one line and the other. They then sent me back to the line where my partner just waited, and we are waiting an additional 10 minutes to see a pharmacist and pay for my prescriptions. I am changing pharmacies immediately. I don't know if they're understaffed or just do not have policies in place - but I would think an hour would be enough time to fill a prescription. Usually I would not be as bothered, but the longer I wait the more swelling and bruising may occur as a result of the dental surgery. Update - was told they were ready by one employee and by the time we waited an additional ten minutes to pay for them, in a different line, we were told they would not be ready for another 20 minutes. read more

I love this place. Their pharmacists always go above and beyond for me, and the turn over is so quick to get prescriptions filled. I could spend an hour in the cosmetics department, and as a true makeup connoisseur, they do tend to carry the latest releases from all the Drug Store brands. They have a pretty nice selection of the more Indy brands, like Essence, Milani, Rimmel and Joah. I love stopping in to buy stuff I really don't need. read more

I highly recommend filling your prescriptions at any other CVS, Rite Aid, Target, or other pharmacy location. Not only does this pharmacy team lack total regard for bedside manner, I've never seen a lazier team of people refusing to do their job or extend correct information to patients. My father passed recently, and I've not been treated worse or more like an addict for requesting an early refill of a small, low-dose anti-anxiety medication. Not only this, but the techs will ask you invasive and, frankly, inappropriate questions regarding the reasoning for the prescription and why you're seeking care/medication from your doctor. If you go against better judgment and fill your rx here you'll need to be persistent in asking for help, understanding, or requests for them do their actual jobs. read more

The only thing I hate about this place is the homeless people are wondering around here, I don't feel safe at night. That being said CVS pharmacy is a great discount store, they have all the essentials you need, from lotion, to balls, to lotion, it's a short walk and it's not as far is Walmart from where I'm located, CVS is really what is said to be, and if you have a card it'll be really efficient also. read more

I would not recommend this pharmacy. It's rare to get a prescription filled here without some type of problem. It's ridiculous. My physician called in an Rx three days ago, and I received a call saying it wasn't in stock and it would have to be ordered. Fine. I called the pharmacy to check status four times today, three times I was disconnected, the last time I was hung up on after I said, "Hello, can you help me?" I tried to call again after lunch and was on hold for 40 minutes before someone picked up. Time to find another pharmacy. read more

Horrible pharmacy. They are extremely rude on the phone and almost combative. I had a prescription that said it required me to come in and pick it up in person. I called to see if they would be able to just mail it anyway. They said I still had to come in and talk to them in person. I came in, picked up my meds, said thanks and walked out the door. They didn't say a word to me. Since the pandemic, I've been getting ads about free delivery. I thought, "Cool!" Well, they keep putting my monthly prescription "on hold" until about a week before the refill date, but the shipping is between 3-7 days, so I have to be really lucky and pray to the prescription gods that my refill date falls on a Thursday or Friday so I can get the hold taken off. Oh yeah and I have to call them to get the hold taken off. It doesn't happen automatically, so I CANNOT forget. I was having a new med filled a week before my refill date on my regular med, so I asked if it could be taken off hold and included in my next delivery. Why create the waste by making two deliveries back to back? The pharmacist on the phone started grilling me about why I would need my med that early. I tried to explain to him that I don't want to miss the med because of slow shipping and why separate the packages when you can just combine. He got angry and said the shipping was fine and I needed to learn to be patient. I don't think he saw the irony. Since my refill date tends to fall on the other 5 days of the week, I have to pay and extra 7.99 to get my meds delivered the next day or wait about a week. Switching pharmacies for the next refill. This is stupid and they are going to hurt someone. read more

This CVS (aside from the pharmacy) is one of the worst. Poorly stocked, small, not updated, feels like everything is locked (even $20 moisturizer), employees are scarce, and safety is a real concern. Homeless loiter outside and occasionally harass customers going in and out, and sometimes wonder inside. Makes for an uncomfortable and often unsafe experience. However the pharmacy is really reliable and the employees there are great. They are the sole reason for the two stars. read more

I came here to get flu shot. It took literally an hour. Now I know there's a few people ahead of me but it is not like the other cvs on San Carlos where the whole process was much more efficient. I am really getting frustrated it is taking this long. This was on my way home from work so I decided to try it. If u get a flu shot they give you a five dollar coupon if u spend 25 dollars. I can see why this store specifically would have issues. I came in late last night with my service dog and I myself said "hello" to the employee in the isle. I confirmed her name as NORA. She then proceeded to ask me loud enough I heard her an isle away with headphones on to "leave my bag in the front" I proceeded to ask why she then just repeated herself and asked me to leave my bag in the front. I said why? This is a reusable shopping bag and showed her I only had two bright pink reusable shopping bags. She then ignored what I was saying and repeated herself. I blatantly showed her within camera view if there are any that the bag I had was empty and a shopping bag (cvs encourages the reusable bag movement). She repeated herself so I told her I shop here often and "no" to her question and that I will continue my shopping as she already was shown that nothing is in my bag. Then I walked away. Nora then goes on to make uncomfortable 3 announcements referring to my presence in the store for help, for a coworker to come over to "assist her", and to have a coworker "scan all isles" then had the coworker stand at the end of the isle I was in. She then proceeded to lock the liquor department down before 2 am. I wasn't even there to buy liquor. I came for household items. I believe johnathon was the name of the employee but we spoke face to face (01/22/22 at 1:50 am) As I was complaining to the employee about how uncomfortable I was made by a cvs employee (nora). Nora was hovering in the back isle where we were locking up the alcohol isle early. (Blatantly referring to keeping me out of the isles. I wasn't even there for alcohol!! Clear bias and discrimination on her part) she was hovering while I was complaining trying to hear what I was saying, not doing inventory as she was before nor watching the store. I will be calling the number I was given to be complaining as well as the cvs website because this is unacceptable and blatant bias. I hope someone reprimands her and retrains her as well as any other employees that think that security is their job. I usually don't like to leave negative reviews but I experienced one of the worse customer service here today. I came in to print one photo (just one!) I was told that it was quick and easy so I spent time working on uploading the photo and waiting for it (was there for over 30 mins for one photo). I approached the cashier twice, still there was nothing . The second time I approached it the tall white lady who seemed to be in charge was so rude. Not even a welcoming greeting and she made me feel like I was a waste of time. Idk who hired her but she is terrible, no costumer service in her bone. She must be a miserable human being, I hope she find peace and happiness sometime this holiday or find a new manager CVS. She clearly hates what she does. read more

Absolute Zero! Called to check to see if my medication was ready for pick up since I have not heard anything back from cvs after my prescription was sent over over a week ago. "Leanne" who answered the phone was rude af. Asking me with an attitude if I can tell her what medication I'm waiting for. Look lady, my doctor sent over multiple mediations for me, if you can see it on your screen I'm sure the proper way to respond to me would be "sure sir, would it happen to be so in so and etc.?" Not in the bitchy ass attitude she gave me. I get it , you work in the pharmacy and not solely customer service, but you work alongside the f#cking cvs company so act professional! Geez! If you hate your job then quit. I am a patient waiting for meds. If you haven't heard back from my doctor would it kill you to go the extra mile to maybe contact them again? Sheesh woman!! I work in customer service and if I don't hear back from someone I do what's called a " FOLLOW UP." Do everyone a favor and have yourself a coke and a smile and be more helpful. This is just for this location. I primarily come here for prescriptions for my little one, granted I hardly ever go inside to deal with the pharmacy, I always prefer the drive thru. It always seems understaffed. On occasion, I've waited a little more than 5 mins for a pharmacist to assist me at the window. Granted, once I'm helped, they're usually pretty nice. A little more staff would probably help this place out a lot. I choose this location because it's close to home, but busy because it's close to SDSU. CVS Pharmacy. They will text (from a corporate office someplace) and when you arrive to get your medicine that they texted "as ready", (using a code, so you are guessing what exactly that medicine might be), the medicine is different, and wrong, and what you don't need. When you ask the staff why this is happening, there is a series of "made up stories" as to why this occurs. And, if you need an expensive medicine or medicated cream, the staff will make decisions without yours or your doctor's knowledge on whatever they think you should get - without asking you, as the suffering patient. These result in more trips to that particular pharmacy during a viral pandemic. As you struggle to communicate, the public waiting in line share very similar stories of frustration and the last client stated to me that this occurs due to profit mark ups from searching for other pharma products to replace yours. They are not preforming the basic job of filling prescriptions and I don't think they should be operating until they get it right. This practice is called into their corporate offices and I hope they are able to fix this very broken loop that does not occur at other pharmacies we use. This is an unsafe place. Beware. read more

Take your prescriptions elsewhere. Second time in a row my prescription was not ready and told to come back. I don't think the pharmacy people understand the inconvenience this causes. CVS needs to properly train their pharmacy staff on customer service. I've been to other CVS Pharmacies, specifically the Target ones, and this issue doesn't happen. I only come here since it's in between my doctors clinic and my house. Came here to get a medical prescription. Indeed the pharmacy kind of sucks. They don't greet you. They're slow. And not to mention the black women with a beard, he or she, whatever you are, very unprofessional, and rude, and has an attitude.
