The retail part of this store is fairly unremarkable. I see cardboard boxes of stuff to sell sitting in the 'seasonal' aisle a lot, which makes me suspect that they could use another staff member, but it really isn't that big a deal. So here's the thing: the pharmacy part of this store seems chronically understaffed. And that means that the staff that is there is really overworked. So they are stressed out, and any situation other than something really simple can take more time than it ought to, and cause them confusion. It also means that they don't have the energy to do things like keep the people in line behind you from invading your personal space and hovering over your shoulder and listening as you discuss your yeast infection medication with the pharmacy staff. *Ahem* Not that I have any personal experience with that happening to me. But let me tell you -- a couple of those "for patient privacy please stop here" signs would be EXTREMELY helpful. I feel bad for the staff because it is clear that they are doing the best they can with too few resources. At the same time, confusion causes delays in prescription fills. And some medications can do damage if you have to stop them abruptly, which is pretty much exactly what happens when the pharmacy screws up your refill. If you're filling an occasional prescription for antibiotics or something, you'll do fine. But if you have multiple ongoing prescriptions, you'll need to be very aware and watch them carefully. They won't do anything mean, but they may well make errors due to overwork that could hurt you. read more

This location is 24 hours, has friendly employees and ample parking. Most of the time there is only one cashier working and trying to handle it all. They seem to handle the stress well. It happens to be the closest drugstore to home, and the 24/7 shopping is there if you need it. Sometimes, it just may be the only place open, late at night, when you're brutally sick. That really spells convenience. Not the best selection of anything, including beer, but it's a smaller store than most locations around town. Just remember though, that if you try to come in late to buy alcohol, there's actually long lines of college kids. It the cheapest place for booze that will sell till 2am. Only tried this once, and turned around and left since it was 10 deep... Once in a while I'll use an email offer that gives me 30% off, so that's pretty cool. It seems they have issues with prescriptions based on other reviews, so keep that in mind. They actually have many grocery items as well, in case you're into cooking in the wee hours of the morning. read more

I was in need of some facial cleanser so I stopped in here to grab some. Almost no customers inside, but the store was nice and I did notice the Thrifty's ice cream counter inside! Score! Parking was great also. Big spacious private lot. Unfortunately, the employee who helped me was talking to her coworker the whole time she was ringing me up. No hello, no looking at me, nothing. Full blown conversation. I felt like I was a ghost or something. First time that's ever happened to me, and I thought it was pretty rude. I don't think I'm so important that I deserve to be waited on foot and hand, but I don't think it's too much to expect the person who's helping me to quit the tomfoolery long enough to just acknowledge our interaction in the slightest way for at least a second or two. It's really baffling as to how people like her are employed in a capacity where they have to interact daily with probably hundreds of customers. I came here to get my covid vaccines in may and everything was smooth but I went again today to look for a new ankle sleeve and I was immediately treated like I was going to steal for NOO REASON! As soon as I walked in there was a guard looking at me like he was gonna kill me then when I went to go look at the make up a worker came up to me immediately and asked if everything was ok (which is weird why would anyone do that at cvs) then I went to go get some Oreos and a guard followed me there too. when I went to go pay the guard was standing by the cashier. Like wth???? You guys must have me confused for someone else cause I have literally only been there 3 times. Even though I've moved to La Mesa I've had a hard time going to any pharmacy other than this one. The number one reason I chose this pharmacy is the people who work here. They all seem to really care about what they do and see the customers who come in here as people. Heck, this is the first place I ever bought condoms and the guy who rang me up did a magical job at not making me feel weird. More recently I have been going to CVS to pick up medications. I recently lost a prescription the day I got it. My insurance didn't cover replacement. I felt embarrassed, like someone would treat me like I made it up or like I was dumb for losing it. Andy at the drop off desk seemed more than understanding when I asked if I could use a discount card. I've heard on the internet that some pharmacies frown on their use, but Andy made me feel perfectly normal, even welcome to use this option with my situation. I order some syringes for my dad ( type 2 diabetic) & I called Friday 04/22/2022 and told me they were outta stock & they would have them ready by Monday . Monday comes & I get the "oh well it's not ready yet " come back in 20 minutes . I when home came back 3 hrs later & they were still not ready & asked to come back the following day , I said no ! , you guys even texted me saying my prescription was ready so WTF . I waited for about another 10/15 minute and nothing . My dad end up in the hospital because people can't do there job right . This CVS needs alots of help & maybe new staff . Do yourself a favor, and DON'T bother using the pharmacy here. Ive come here for a year to get my prescription. They tell me to come back in an hour, and then when I come back in a hour, They tell me to come back the next day. Then when I come back the next day, they tell me to wait an hour again. Ridiculous!! If they want me to wait, that's fine, but at least they could be organized when they tell me to come back. I have dealt with these people for over a year, and STRONGLY SUGGEST going to a different CVS pharmacy. This one is terribly mis-managed and I think at this point I'm just going to go to the one in Grossmont. This is about a rude experience that happened last night when dealing with the pharmacist. Stopped in last night to take a trip to get some more Dayquil and take the trip over to the "Family Planning" aisle to find out if I'm going to be a mother far sooner than I expected to be. Upon arriving in front of my selections, CVS has this entire part of the aisle locked up so you have to "ask for assistance." The pharmacist wasn't busy and promptly came over to unlock the case for to me get out what would be a huge relief off of my shoulders or a big FML moment. With the supplies locked down, no wonder Planned Parenthood is within a short walk of this place. At the checkout I got the stink eye from her as I was buying my supplies and got ID'd for Dayquil, which sometimes I can understand but it's no where even near close to prescription drug abuse status like NyQuil. Regulation I guess, but as I was swiping my card I could feel her glaring at me sizing me up if I'm ready to me a mom and when she noticed my wedding ring she had a look on her face that clearly read, "thank god for that" HA! Thanks for making me feel like Juno and for giving your opinions on your customers out freely. Huge store, It's like the mall for prescriptions. I went to buy a bday card and was out in no time. They have everything from candy to ipod accessories Convenient store w/o the hassle of going into an over crowded grocery store or target to get a bday card or something else small you may need. Hate to leave a negative review but have not experienced such bad service from a pharmacy before. My experience at this pharmacy location was horrible. I came in on a Monday afternoon to get a prescription filled for an upcoming surgery and the staff explained it would need pre-authorization for worker's compensation. From the start the staff made me feel as if I was being discriminated as they questioned me on the prescription as well as questioning if the prescription itself was real. Staff were also being very flat and benevolent. They stated they would call me the next day with info after reaching out to workers comp as I stated it was urgent due to surgery being Wednesday. Called the next day at 1pm since I had not heard back and a male responded and began arguing that it needed to be authorized first as I continued to ask if he can double check to see if they had attempted calling workers comp. He went on another minute or so and instantly changed his tone saying "oh it looks like it was authorized, I'll have it ready for you in an hour". I came in around 4:30 and was greeted by the female staff from the day before who basically asked what I was doing there. I explained that u was told via phone to pick up the prescription to which she stated 'it needs to be pre-authorized'. I explained that the person that answered said it had been authorized and ready to go. She stood there staring and switched it up saying "oh we need the doctor to call and confirm". And did not explain anything or apologize for the misunderstanding or lack of communication or anything. So I left. I explained to the doctor the situation at the time of surgery and he immediately responded to their lack of ability to fill the prescription and grew frustrated as he stated there was no need for him to call but did anyways. The staff seemed to lack professionalism, empathy and customer service for that fact. Horrible experience from beginning to end. My gf picked up the meds while I was in surgery.. read more

Terrible. I got my wisdom teeth removed today and headed to this pharmacy to pick up my pain prescriptions and antibiotics. Was told that they would all be ready in an hour. It's been more than an hour now and the robot handling their phone number told me my prescriptions wouldn't be available until another 3 hours! Terrible service. I can feel the pain starting to creep in and I still got another 3 hours to wait. I wouldn't have ordered from here if I knew they wouldn't have my prescriptions ready until after my anesthesia has completely run out. Never coming here again. read more

The worst pharmacy I've ever been to. I made the stupid decision to get my prescription sent here. I called at 12pm (the NEXT day) to make sure it was ready, and the lady said it would be ready at 3pm. After running errands I showed up at 7pm and was told I would have to wait another 45 minutes since it wasn't prepared? I specifically asked when it would be ready. Worst place on earth! I transfered a prescription there this morning at 5am. The app said the prescription would be ready by 9 am. I call at 1pm to see the status of the prescription and they said they have not filled it and asked when would I like it filled. I said 3pm and they said no problem. I showed up at 3:40 and they said they have not filled it yet and would expedite it and it would be 10 min. After 25 min and waiting in line again they said they have not filled it because they don't have it. This is a waste of space and the Pharma employees are the worst ever. I love shopping at CVS and have a great experience with the helpfulness front store employees. This review is specific to the pharmacy that I have used for years. There has been a change in personnel within the last year and the customer service has diminished. To be fair, it is not all pharmacy employees but a significant number to influence my change in opinion. It is very difficult to get anyone to answer the phone. The automated system can not solve all issues and not everyone is computer savvy. My spouse has been in the hospital twice and both times it was difficult to get the narcotic prescriptions (spouse has stage 4 lung cancer) and lack of caring from the employees is appalling. I get they are doing their job however the pharmacy is a key component of the medical experience. People are not coming to the pharmacy to be an inconvenience to staff. We are people having a human experience out of our control. Examples: 1) An employee taking in the prescriptions was speaking as a robot over talking me. I was simply asking about scanning my CVS card to earn rewards for prescriptions. Responses were CVS card not a payment card, FSA card not ins etc. not related to what I was asking. Basic verbal abuse. 2) It took 5 hours of me calling the hospital to get a doctor to call the pharmacy. The doctor and hospital personnel were astounded at the hoops. The hospital called the pharmacist with doctors personal phone # and called me to advise. As I was sitting in the pharmacy, I could see and hear pharmacist Lauryn call the doctor rolling her eyes. I was incensed addressing this unprofessional behavior. She apologized saying she didn't roll her eyes at me. She rolled her eyes at our doctor which the public should not see. I work for a major international financiaI institution and I can assure you employees rolling eyes or having an attitude with customers in public setting is not acceptable. I contacted CVS corporate who in turn called me about 2 weeks ago. They were going to contact local leadership. To date, no one locally has contacted me so I see no other resort but to post a negative review. I want to use CVS but may have to change to Rite Aid one block away. Never, ever, EVER will I return the CVS to fill a prescription, and neither should anyone else who's reading this review. My previous pharmacy stopped carrying my prescription so I had to transfer my prescription to a new pharmacy. I tried calling CVS two days in a row and it kept ringing, ringing, ringing. I have a busy schedule and it's difficult to find time during their business hours to stop by the pharmacy. I went on their website and saw you can request a prescription to be filled through their site, awesome. So I thought. I requested my prescription to be transferred and filled out all the information needed, the name of the prescription, my previous pharmacy name and number, etc. I even received an email confirming my prescription request and stated it would be ready by Tuesday, February 23rd by the afternoon. I went in that Friday to pick up my prescription and they said they didn't even have my request there. I showed them my confirmation emailed and told them the process I went through and the pharm tech helping me rudely told me I had to go to drop off and go through the process all over again. I showed another staff member my email and they completely ignored and told me to give them the name of my prescription, my previous pharmacy info, etc. I gave it to them again and told them the importance of starting my medication by that Sunday and she said it would be ready the next day, meaning Saturday, February 27th. I called in the afternoon since I did not receive any phone call from them and they said it won't be ready until Monday, February 29th. Before telling me this, they tried to sell me a generic version, for the 3rd time and I had to tell them again that the generic did not work well with my body and even told them to put a note on my prescription letting them know. I tried to let the staff member know I was told it would definitely be ready on this day, but she hung up before I could even explain my self. Tuesday, March 1st I call since I had NO phone call from them. The staff member said they tried ordering my medication that morning and they said it would take longer than anticipated. I told her my whole story of how I've gone two weeks without my medication and have been going back and forth with this medication and she said she's not responsible because she did not work those previous shifts, completely missing the whole point I was trying to make. I asked for an ETA on my prescription and she said she was not given one but they'll contact me once my medication is ready and hung up. Frustrated by this process and going almost a week without my medication, I decided to call a competitor Tuesday and had my medication ready by Friday. The pharm tech from the new pharmacy I decided to go to even called me twice to keep me updated about my prescription. Shame on you, CVS. Horrible service! The majority of the staff look like they hate their jobs and project their hatred onto their customers. You can't just play with someone's health and keep playing games when it comes to their medication. read more

Not great. 1. Prescription issue with insurance. Rather than notifying me that there needed to be action on my part I had to call and wait on the phone to figure it out and was then told it was my fault and that I needed to call them first even though I wasn't even notified about the issue. 2. Didn't have generic version of over the counter Allegra Dso I had to spend literally twice as much so I could stop feeling like shit. Seems like they don't stock their otc meds enough. 3. Although the card readers have Apple Pay capabilities they don't work so kiss your credit card rewards goodbye. read more
