Were I not restricted to CVS by my health insurance, I would drive 100 miles or more not to have to deal with them anymore. They have lost prescriptions from their system, sometimes seem unable to refill in a timely manner, cannot get my scripts synced to save their lives (I typically get a text from them a few times a week letting me know something else is ready,) and, just today, they requested a prescription "refill" from my doctor that neither my doctor nor I asked for and that I do not want. When I called to ask about this, I had the "most El Cajon CVS" experience ever - I called to leave a message for the pharmacist and was told that because the store is closed for lunch... I couldn't leave a voice mail. What? Does anyone there know how voice mail even works? Individually, each staffer seems very nice, very friendly, but somewhere in the system, stuff is breaking down. I spent 20 minutes waiting for someone to open the door for eyedrops. I hit the button 4 times over that 20 minute period. At one point someone came up to me and said she called someone and they would be there soon, 5 more minutes went by with no help so I left. I called and spoke to the assistant manager who offered a perfunctory "sorry". Clearly management cannot "manage" or schedule. read more

Went in at 6:15pm to see if they could transfer a prescription from another pharmacy. Pharmacist says it takes 24 hours to transfer a prescription. I let him know that they can fax it over. He says they don't have time. Now I have to wait until tomorrow and am in quite a bit of pain. Appears to be a lazy pharmacist. read more

So why is the assistant mgr. Taking off his clothes at the counter. Also this store has a dangerous all gender bathroom with multiple toilets. I had to poop with lady's and kids in the stall when I got out little girls were coming out of the stalls. I think an all gender restroom should have one toilet not multiple. The Asst. Now to the pharmacy , they close at 7 and I showed up at 6:58 to pick up my rx and I was turned away saying they are "closed " like mam , you are not closed you guys are just lazy and rude to not even try to help me ! This review is for their photo services. My first order was a batch of 5x7 postcards double-sided on cardstock with rounded corners. I was so sad because their printer didn't seem to work right and each card had a streak in the middle of it. However, they were so nice about it and gave me a refund without issues. I was sad because I had to go to Walgreens to put in the same order due to timing but I will tell you, even though my CVS order had some color issues going on (which was clearly due to something that is not usual with the machine), the CVS version of the same order was a lot more clear and crisp compared to the order I put in for Walgreens. Also, Walgreens puts their company logo on the cards even though it's not part of your design and you paid for it! CVS does not put their brand on your custom card photo orders. The font and photos on my botched CVS order looked so crisp and clean but sadly that darn color streak was not going to be able to be fixed in time, otherwise I would have stuck with CVS. The next week I took a chance and put in another order with CVS but this time it was for a couple of large posters - one 24"x36" and a smaller 12"x14". And I gotta tell you the quality was excellent and I could not be happier. The text was so clear and the photos came out really nice - the color saturation was excellent. I was so happy because I was a little nervous about how they would turn out. Also, I also want to say that the employees are so nice at this location. I appreciate their help and they genuinely care that my orders came out nice and that I was happy. I highly recommend their printing services. The quality is by far way better than Walgreens (the one in San Carlos anyway) and the staff are the nicest folks. Thank you CVS! read more

This review for the pharmacy. I was checked in just fine, and he let me know was prescription was just being filled. I was asked to wait a few minutes and that he would call me when it was ready. So I stepped aside to wait. 30 minutes pass by, and it was only another CVS employee that told me the pharmacy is closing and that if I was waiting for a prescription, I should check with them. When I went back up to the window, though, all he gave me was a half-hearted sorry, and I had to leave for the night without my prescription. More of an effort should have been made to at least call my name up to the counter. No one called my name, and I suppose I could have gotten up to check, but I expected him to actually call my name the way he was doing with other folks that were around the pharmacy area. Horrible customer service, will be transferring my prescription immediately after this. read more

You can never speak to a live person in the pharmacy unless you drive there and wait at the pharmacy window. The automated phone greetings are terrible. They are limited in what they recognize and they always transfer you to voicemail. If you ask for a call back what you get is a recorded voicemail from someone in the pharmacy, you never get to speak to a live person. I am changing pharmacies I don't have time for this. read more

This cvs is very inconsistent. Sometimes you get good customer service, sometimes not. Sometimes your prescription is ready, sometimes it's not. It really is flavor of the day here! The only thing consistent about this location is that they are always running low or out of whatever you need. Empty shelves are a constant theme here so be prepared. read more

This pharmacy has wasted so much of my time it's actually insane. I have specified over 5 separate times that I CANNOT have a certain brand of a medication and it is constantly filled as the incorrect one. They didn't order the correct one for two weeks and have never once looked at the note specifying that I CANNOT have the one they continually fill. I've now paid out of pocket 3 times because they bill my insurance and I can no longer fill the prescription with insurance. Save your time and aggravation by going to literally any other pharmacy. read more

If you work, expect to wait minimum 30 minutes in the evening. As the waits get longer, the pharmacy hours get shorter. CVS needs to sort this out. read more

Please be aware that CVS is now providing generics from a lab in Wuhan, China for some of its prescriptions. The lab is called Humanwell PuraCap Pharmaceuticals and the distributor is Epic Pharma, LLC. Fortunately, I read the small print before taking any of the capsules. Of course, we're all painfully aware of the lack of trustworthiness, safety and quality controls at China's labs by now, especially in Wuhan. read more

My last 2 visits to this pharmacy were extremely poor experiences. First, a pharmacist tried to tell my my physician was prescribing too low of a dose of Eliquis for maintenance of my issue. My prescribing physician is among the top anticoagulation experts in the United States and publishes frequently in top journals through her appointment at The Scripps Research Institute. We spoke at length about a recent study that establishes this dose being more safe for long term maintenance. Obviously, the CVS pharmacist was not up to date and was interfering with my care. Today I showed up to pick up another medication after a CVS text message explained that it would be available to be filled today. The clerk called me back to tell me the pharmacist was refusing to fill it until tomorrow despite the message, and the pharmacist also would not discuss the reasoning with me. In any event, I'm done tolerating substandard care from this store, as well as having my time wasted, and have transferred all of my prescriptions to Rite Aid. Edit: 8 days after my request to transfer and multiple requests from Rite Aid, the CVS pharmacist still can't be bothered complete a fax to get this done. If I have to contact each of my doctors for new prescriptions, I will. But this is ridiculous. read more

They don't even deserve 1 star!! The pharmacy is inefficient, unorganized, and may actually give you a prescription that is different than requested. Unfortunately the Rite Aid on Mission Gorge closed and even though the CVS store always looks in disarray and just plain dirty, I thought I would give them a try. I have so far experienced long long lines, alternative prescriptions that made me ill and lost prescription requests from my Doctor. Also it appears they had double records on my name. Ray & Nikolas - Ray is a pharmacy technician, super easy going and has a great attitude. Appreciate how friendly he is while also being great at his job! Pharmacist Nikolas is fantastic. He always takes a moment to make a kind comment, ask how you're doing, etc. even when it's a madhouse of patrons (note: he does not do so in a way that slows down operations!). My wife and I's first experience here was positive overall. We talked to a staff member who was very helpful: she not only directed us to where we needed to go, but walked with us and suggested products. We also had a great conversation with two workers that checked us out. Great service! So good, in fact, that I thought four stars would be more appropriate than three despite my concern with this site. My major issue with this site, along with many other pharmacies, is what appears to be a substantial inconsideration for religious and moral beliefs that concern how much of the human body should be shown in public. This site has many real-life models who wear very little clothing in many places in the store. This includes displays and products. I know that eliminating much of these displays would be an exceptionally challenging task. Perhaps there is room for moving certain displays and products to certain areas rather than across the store. In conclusion though, I am very pleased with my visit and am happy to have a CVS in my area with such great service! read more

I live nearby and unfortunately this is the only pharmacy/ general good store in the nearby area. I've had a few bad experiences but I will talk about one in particular. Before I go into it I will say this: most times there is almost nobody in the store other than the people behind the pharmacy counter. They refuse to leave the counter and act like it's an inconvenience to be asked a question. The store relies on the automated cashier for people to tender their own purchases. So just getting a hold of someone is a major hassle. Now onto my experience: I came to the place hoping to purchase some over the counter medicine. I had about five dollars in quarters. The cashier refused to accept my payment and said that they didn't accept coins. I was shocked. When I said it was legal tender, she just kept repeating myself. When I asked to speak to the supervisor, she left and five min later the woman came out and was extremely rude. She basically told me it was the company policy and if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else. I had to go home and get my debit card and return to the store to make my purchase. I have rarely experienced the treatment I had at this CVS. If I ever have a question, I feel like I'm wasting their time. They are rude, patronizing, and antagonistic. read more

I came to CVS looking around for deals. There were lots of Valentine's Day stuff. A little overrated if you ask me. I walked around the makeup aisle as I love lipsticks. I found a new brand of lipstick that costs $5.50. If you purchase it, you get $3.00 cash by using your CVS card. I got two so I got $6.00 back on a printed coupon. I went to go buy drinks and snacks with it. Great deal. I like buying drinks and snacks at CVS. They also sell other items from snacks, medicine, makeup, etc. The lady at the register was really friendly. Makeup here is your drugstore brand but I prefer high end because of my sensitive skin. I hope the lipsticks are nice. The colors are nice. This is located on a busy street on Friars Rd. So much traffic going in and out of here. It's a descent place. They no longer have carts so you have to carry your heavy basket around. The cashiers are incompetent with long lines because it takes them 5-10 minutes to process one customer. If there is a delay they won't log them out to take you because "it's too hard" so you have to wait. The employees are indifferent and rude. If you have the opportunity to use any other CVS location do it. This one is not worth the trip, the wait or the aggravation. read more
