It's been many years since I wrote a review for this CVS location and it's overdue for an update. Despite my upset review, I have been going to this CVS out of convenience as it's right down the street from my house. Since my review in 2014, service within the Pharmacy has gotten better. The customer service provided is not great, but it's not bad either for me to rave or complain . This CVS location is very busy and often throughout the day there is a line waiting despite the time. Some days there are many pharm tech working so service is fast while other days there's not a lot and the line is slow. The pharm techs are fast at what they do and is able to answer insurance questions when I've inquired on it. Note: They do not open until 10am and closes later than the normal hour for lunch. Local store in the neighborhood. Lots of parking and located in strip mall with a few restaurants, KFC, Lucky's grocery store too. Typical CVS that has decent sales. Clearance items are priced to sell! I just am not a fan of self check out, so sometimes it takes a little while for a clerk to come to the register. Sometimes they get busy helping another customer. And if you are buying alcohol, you cannot use the self service kiosk and have to wait. read more

10/04/2025, mid afternoon. Went to the pharmacy to pick up a few meds for my mother. Whereas it was my understanding that all her meds were ready for pick up, only two of four was available. When I attempted to get some clarification, the older vietnamese lady assisting me sharply and rudely raised her voice and told me to simply pay first. When I said I'd rather pay when my all my prescriptions were ready, she again raised her voice and told me to pay first. My mother could see that I was getting upset, so to diffuse the situation my mother instructed me to just pay. As I was paying, the vietnamese lady began speaking in her native language to a colleague. Whereas I dont speak vietnamese, I know when someone is insulting me. This is not ok. How this lady is still employed is beyond me. Sure there are a lot vietnamese people in the area and you need someone who speaks the language, but youre telling me they couldn't find someone to hire with better customer service? I'm not expecting to be treated like some royalty, just basic human decency. Not to mention, it appears there have already been numerous complaints about her. I get it, the job is demanding and customers aren't always the easiest to deal with. However, just because youre having a bad day doesn't mean you can offload your stress onto someone who hasn't given you any reason to do so. Please fix this. read more

The store lacks workers on the floor, but Katie (from photos) and Alex (cashier) are very helpful and polite regardless how busy it gets in the store with customers. They both went above and beyond providing excellent customer service. I hope CVS recognize their good work and rewards them. read more

This CVS is closest to me and always my first stop. The Pharmacy is the best. I also go here for all my vaccinations. Also, the checkout ladies are always very helpful and very conscientious workers. The rest of the store has limited stock so if I need something I don't see I will go down San Felipe toward Yerba Buena for that CVS that has more variety. read more

There is something fundamentally wrong with pharmacy in this CVS. I am saying this based on my last several years of going there. Firstly, the staff lacks empathy. I haven't come across a single staff who goes an extra mile for helping customers. If they don't find your record the first time they key in your details, they will immediately say "we don't have you in here". Secondly, most staff looks fresh out of school. They are not trained in handling even slightest difficult situation (like a medicine that needs insurance approval or a 3rd party to work with). All in all, I would recommend trying the Walgreens across the street or be ready to argue with current staff for every one of your need. read more

I will preface this and say that I always assume positive intent... that said I'm going to explain my experience and give you all a WARNING to always inspect your medicine for the proper dosages. I recently had a refill of a prescription. Some months ago my physician prescribed 2.5mg, but more recently my physician increased it to 5mg. When my prescription ran out CVS automatically refilled my prescription. A few days later as I'm refilling my pill box, I go to open my bottle and I noticed it was 2.5mg, not my 5mg from the most recent prescription. When I phoned the pharmacy about the mistake, the gal told me to double up on the pills to make it 5mg (2 - 2.5mg pills). She said she would phone me back once they have the difference to make up for what I picked up (a 90 day supply). When I asked why they were still using my old prescription, she stated that there was no way their system could "archive" or delete my old prescription. Fast forward, I never hear back from CVS, it's now May 2024, almost a month has passed. So, I call back today and I speak to a gal named "Chi" Honestly, this person shouldn't be working with customers. She was condescending and tried to turn everything around on me without even listening to me. I phoned in and she automatically starts to tell me that they're working on my prescription (other medication). I explain that I'm calling about XXX medication and she begins to tell me that they filled it last month. I tried to explain to her, then she says that she can't hear me, so naturally I raise my voice. As I'm speaking, she cuts me off to explain how they've already filled my prescription and that they can't refill my medication. Here's where it turns up, because rather than listening Chi is in her own world, not listening, just speaking and looking at the system. Had she taken the time to just listen, she would've heard me. So, again, naturally I have to speak up and tell her to stop interrupting me and just listen. She doesn't like that, but really there's no other choice but to speak to her like this, because she interrupts you mid-sentence. Well, she finally listens and she somehow tries to assert that it's my insurance fault, then it's my physicians fault, etc. Needless to say, she then said that my prescription needed to be renewed. So, I'll be reaching out to my physician, but again I don't buy this reasoning. 1) Why CVS refill an old prescription at 2.5mg when my most recent prescription was for 5mg. This is a scary thought. Btw: this medication is High Blood Pressure medication, imagine had I not noticed the error. 2) Why does CVS allow folks answer the phones at the pharmacy when those individuals have no patience and don't know how to hear a customer out. 3) CVS, you need to do better. If you say that you're going to reach back out to the customer, do that at the very least. 4) I hope someone from CVS reads these reviews, so your business can improve its operations. I'd love to hear back from someone. read more

If you need to get regular prescription refills, don't come here. Their process for handling refills is completely broken. I submitted a refill request via their automated phone system. I came to the store a few days to pick it up and they had no record of my request. So the person I spoke to in store placed the refill request for me while I was in the store. I came back a week later and ... no record of my request again! If your are a pharmacy, you would think being able to manage refills is a core part of your process that you should be able to get right. read more

Rushed over here late late a few night ago in need of a teething toy for my infant. Anyone who has dealt with a teething child feels my pain.... Employees seem very incompetent or maybe it's due to the sheer fact that they don't care. Since my arrival was near closing time, it would have been helpful to have some assistance in locating the item that I needed. 2 stars in total. The Manager Owen Discriminated against me for being on food Stamps. I paid for cvs Items with my Cash Aid. Less than 24 hrs later I went to return some items. The Manager was speaking to be in a rude tone and said that I was stupid for not understanding what their policy was. He basically yelled at me and I cried: he was very aggressive.He refused to return my items. he said the system doesn't allow Cash back returns or to put the money back on a different card. He was not trying to figure out a solution. Owen kept repeating himself over and over again! he spoke to me as if he was looking down on me and he did speak down to me. Owen was acting like he was superior to me. Cvs shouldn't have a manager who stereotypes low income members of the community.I needed to return these items so I could pay my rent. Came to pharmacy to pick up prescription. Waited in-line to pick up medication and was about to pay. Handed Goodrx coupon and was informed they need to rerun with coupon code. Waited about 10 minutes, name was called and got back in-line for pick up. Got to pick up window and they couldn't find my prescription. Waited another 5 minutes while couple staff looked for my medication. Finally, a staff found it. May not come here again. read more

They don't pick up phone calls! There are no live operators and it takes an hour before someone from out of state picks up the call!

Customer service isn't good. There have been at least two instances in the recent months that compels me to write this review. Specifically, when they made a mistake on a transaction, saying the discount was applied and was clearly not even though I asked the clerk if it was in fact applied. She insisted it was; when I advised her of the error, never an apology . When the Manager took over to process the refund, there was no apology either. Customer Service 101, apologize!! The feeling one gets is that you are bothering them being in the store. Not good read more

Just be aware when you pick up your prescription at CVS Pharmacy San Felipe Rd, SJ. They may try to sell it to you again next time you show up. I guess they are so busy and understaffed that they don't have time to remove it from your record even after you tell them so. Other than that their staff is friendly. Only 2 stars because when there are long lines, no one comes to help out. They also removed the liquor button to let staff know u need help. So now I just roll up in there, find the person not at the register and ask them. Otherwise, when u go after hours and only 1 person is in the store u gotta wait til the lines goes down.The store is almost always a mess! There shelves are literally barren. The employees are miserables and rude, they work so slow. The manager buys all the good seasonal items before they even get to the shelves. The cashier elizabeth is v prejudiced and mean, she will hold up a line just to argue why your coupon isnt applicable when it very well should be. Great customer service concerning the photo center and I was quite happy with how my photos came out ( I had developed film from a toy fisheye camera), previously the photos came out too small and half of my film was destroyed. The pharmacy always has great customer service and the workers are always informative and friendly. Their 10 for 10 aisle, is always stocked with random things you would never have thought of buying but some items are worth the buck. If you don't have a CVS card, get one 2% back on every purchase you make after scanning and don't forget to scan your card at the mini coupon machine. There's coupons daily, so why not? read more

Super nice staff here!! Michelle and Nancy are always willing to check the back room for me if I can't find something out on the shelf! This place is my go-to for last-minute gifts, snacks, etc. The pharmacy staff are so sweet too :,) The pharmacy tech, Cindy, is such a sweetheart!! And the RP, Thi, is great at clarifying my medications whenever I have questions about side effects, mechanism of action, safe dose range, etc! Super knowledgeable and professional! Having CarePass makes it so much easier, too, knowing that I have a 24 hr pharmacist hotline I can call whenever I need a question answered immediately about my prescriptions! A lot of different foods and drinks can react negatively with the medications I take, so I'm eternally grateful for the support I get here! :,) read more

I can see why this store gets bad reviews, this is probably one of the worst CVS customer service I've experienced. Came in today to get passport photos done for my family. I even called before hand to make sure that they were still available. We were waiting for a bit and no one helped us, so I saw the manager Jon L. walk in so asked him if someone could help us. He said he's on lunch and that I had to wait in line to talk to a cashier. I waited and spoke to Loc, said that I needed passport photos done. He said only the person that can do it is currently on lunch. I said then why did he tell me to stand in line then? Jon came down and said that he's on lunch and that we would need to wait 1/2 hour for him because no one else can do it. I said what, then why did you tell me to stand in line. He was rude and not helpful at all. Not sure how someone like that can be promoted to a manager role. On top of that, shouldn't you train someone else to take photos in case of a situation like this? Terrible customer service, they really need to learn a thing or two. Maybe they should call Costco for tips! read more

After shopping at this store I was sitting in my vehicle parked in the handicapped spot right in front in the store. A man in a CVS shirt squeezes through and rammed a metal cArt into my truck. He never stopped or paused. I went in the store and discovered the man was the store MANAGER. Upon speaking to him he was rude and dismissive, yelling at me in front of other patrons. I left the store and called CVS corporate. They appeared apologetic and promised a call to me from District office within 24 hours. 30 hours later I have not received a call or email. Manager was rude and insulting, scratched my less than a y( December 2017) truck never apologized and corporate didn't think enough of the situation to even call me back as they promised. Really disappointing. CVS does not value or respect their money paying clientele. UPDATE 1/15/19... No one from CVS EVER called me regarding their manager hitting my vehicle. Three days after the incident I called them back. They said "someone" would call me within 30 days... That 30 days has come and gone and NOTHING. No call whatsoever. Horrible customer service. Returned an item for $60 and they said they gave $40 in store credit. After a few days I went to purchase something in the card and they said the system gave only $10 refund. These guys have all outdated systems and can't teach anything. Please stick to Walgreens instead. It's just a few blocks away from this hopeless store. read more

I live close to here so it would be awesome if this store and staff were better. A trend with CVS and other drug stores I have noticed is that most employees act like they don't want to be working there and get bent out of shape when you ask them for help for things like it's not their dang job to help customers. Like I said it's not just this CVS it's pretty much all drug stores like CVS and Walgreens and so on. They must not pay their workers anything or something because they ALL seem to hate their jobs! Well I am really beginning to HATE shopping here for full priced items when the shelves are only half stocked and the employees have a timber up their keesters! This is the WORST pharmacy and CVS store ever. A Pharmacist named Thi refused to give me her last name. This is unacceptable, she is a licensed pharmacist and her license is public record. Don't forget Thi you are a public servant and you are accountable for your scope of practice. This CVS did not have a restroom. This is truly unacceptable. Why does the CVS on San Felipe have one when this one on South White Road doesn't? I commend Yerba Buena/Felipe CVS for their outstanding customer service and condemn Aborn/South White Road CVS for their unprofessionalism and unethical practices.
