Ive been going to Walgreens for decades, in different cities across CA. I dont blame the pharmacists or aides at all for all of the poor experiences, I blame the system more, but they were always consistently poor. Long lines, poor notes in the computer, issues with insurance you have to fight after the fact, no capacity to be more responsive or organized, etc. I decided I could not live this way anymore. So i found Evergreen. My first visit and Im already pleased and impressed. Super friendly and professional staff, small family-community vibe, no line when I arrived: glorious. I had been going to the same pharmacy since I was a child and I always had such a terrible experience there that when I went over here I had no idea what to expect! I am very close by and I wish I had transferred sooner. I can't say much about the pharmacists, but the boy techs (?) In the green shirts are always so genuine and sweet! Let's talk about a second fast , friendly and clean location located off of Quimby Rd in San Jose right behind the Arco gas station . This place is beautiful , big screen Tv , couch and some low cost snacks while you wait . As a long time customer of 9 years ,the pharmacist Kevin has had and continues to show great accessibility and personal service to all of his customers . SO my grandma goes to the doctor downstairs and he filled her prescription here (we typically go to Walgreens).It is located in a medical building upstairs. What I really love about this place is that they are very helpful ( I had an issue with my grandmas new insurance and Kevin went above and beyond to get my grandmas medicine covered after a long call with the insurance company, so I wouldn't have to come out of pocket). They typically have a short line , the staff are super friendly and they have snacks like soda and chips for sale by the cash register. I would have given them five stars but they failed to tell me I could have gotten a prescription they sold to me as a sample downstairs( I hate spending when I really don't have to). Kevin the pharmacist is excellent as well as all of his staff. I was reluctant to go to a smaller size pharmacy thinking it would cost more. Found out it was the same price and no waiting. I have gone there dozens of times without calling in my refill ahead of time. They have never complained and I still had my order filled and was out of there in five minutes or less. I can't believe I went to Walmart and Walgreens and waited sometimes as much as 30 minutes and dealt with rude employees there. I'll never go to another pharmacy again. A prescription drug with my insurance was priced at $54 ($35 out of pocket and $19 covered by insurance) by both CVS and Walgreens. The same drug at a small pharmacy 8 miles away called Evergreen Pharmacy was priced at $15 without even processing my insurance. You really need "Out of the box" thinking to understand healthcare in this country, like my mailman who went to Honduras to get his appendix removed! Kevin and team do a great job. They are lightening fast unlike all other pharmacies on the planet. I never understood why takes CVS and others hours to simply put pills in a little jar but it does and they all are slow as molasses. After living in Temecula for 17 years I've had more than my share of bad Pharmacist experiences, so going to Evergreen was like a breath of fresh air. Leo heads it up and runs the business like a business should be run. Super-friendly & helpful customer service, kind of like a small town pharmacy in the 1960's. They fill most prescriptions on the spot, while-you-wait, and if your insurance requires pre-approval Leo is very knowledgeable and willing to help you through it. Kevin and his staff are very competent. They will go out of their way to make sure you understand EXACTLY what you need to do and make the drugs you take as effective as possible. They are a small operation and the interactions are very personal-something that has been lost with the bigger drug stores like Wal Mart, CVS, or Walgreens. If they get busy they make it their business to call back ASAP. They take credit cards. Their prices are very competitive. I asked Kevin that when I first started getting prescribed drugs from him, since his operation isn't as large as one of the big chain pharmacies. My family have been long time patients of Dr. Kale and Dr. Saio. Having Kevin and his team as the pharmacists has been one of the best additions to the medical office. We love Kevin and were so happy to be able to do one-stop visiting/prescription filling. Evergreen Pharmacy is a hidden gem. Although there is a sign on the side of the building facing White Road, the pharmacy is nestled inside the building on the second floor. I've been getting my prescriptions filled at Walgreens for the past couple of years. You know the routine - drop off your prescription, wait in line, a random pharmacist you don't know hands you your pills, and you're off. However, I stumbled upon Evergreen Pharmacy when I took my mother to a doctor's appointment in the building. My mother had her prescription filled at this pharmacy by Kevin, the pharmacist/owner. He was friendly and showed genuine attention to my mother. Kevin took the time to answer all her questions during the drug consultation and made sure she understood how and when to take her pills. Kevin now fills all of my prescriptions as well. It costs me exactly the same co-pay as Walgreens, so why wouldn't I?
