This CVS used to be your run of the mill CVS until they "upgraded" it to a "CVS Y'Mas" a few weeks ago. Now the store is a total disaster and looks like it belongs in a Venezuelan slum. Almost half the shelves are empty while boxes upon boxes of unopened merchandise crowd the aisles. If I was manager of the store I'd be ashamed of myself. Since they now are devoted to carrying crap like fucking piñatas and an entire aisle full of religious Mexican themed candles, normal products everyone goes to CVS for are misplaced randomly about the store with no order. It doesn't help that all of the signs are now in Spanish so you have to squint to see the tiny descriptions in English. My Grandparents were from Mexico and they would be livid at stupid shit like this. People don't move to the US to upgrade their standard of living, not go down several levels. I can't tell you how much I hate going to the Rite Aid open 24 hours down the street with all the crazies in the parking lot; but, it provides far better service and lower prices and I will be driving the extra block to them from now on. read more

This is the most incompetent pharmacy I have ever dealt with. If you go here out of convenience, I recommend using the Vons pharmacy just a couple of blocks away. But if you do continue to use this CVS pharmacy, I recommend double and triple checking that your prescription is ready before going to pick it up because 9 out of 10 times (literally) they will not have it ready. I have also found that once my provider sends them a prescription, they will not fill it until I call and ask them to fill it, which is not convenient or helpful. read more

Pharmacy review. I dropped off my prescription 7pm and was told it would be ready the next morning. I came at night after work and was told it is on hold because they have other prescriptions to do first. What the heck? Am I not important. I asked why this expectation was not set and there was no answer. So i asked for my prescription back so I could go to another pharmacy like Costco and they refused to give it to me. My personal experience: I went to but Casein protein but there was no selection just 20 Whey proteins. I also went to buy Axe hair pomade that I usually buy at Target for $6.99 regular price. well it's 10.79 at CVS. I've had similar experiences with every product I've at CVS. I don't see the pros to shopping here. At least Rite-Aide has very low prices to lure you in, but CVS everything is more expensive overall, for the identical products. read more

ive been trying to get a refill for a week now on medication i am not supposed to be without. they dont care. i ask call my doctor and they call cvs. cvs refills it. next time comes around, they refuse to refill unless they get in contact with my doctor. its caused me to be without my medicine for days at a time. not only that but after calling to get a refund for medicine i had to pay out of pocket due to it being an emergency, the person on the phone wouldnt even let me speak. I walked into this cvs and I took my sunglasses off because I thought it was rude to have them on while shopping. The pharmacists is a complete ass! He lied about the price of my daughters prescription, she is sick with an ear infection when i told him i forgot my insurance card i asked how much ill just paid for it she needs it, he lied and said it would come out to 100 dollars. Why would someone be so evil and lied to a mother for her daughters medicine just because he feels like being a jerk. I don't know how he sleeps at night. Horrible service every time!!!! This CVS is not as ghetto as the competition down the street on 5th & Gaffey. It's much cleaner, fewer low lifes hanging around, much easier to get in & out without getting hassled for change, much less chance of vagrant encounters. So those are good things, getting in & out easily. Once in the store, the service you get is shaky, inconsistent. Some clerks are obviously better & quicker than others, which is to be expected; but the lame ones are really lame. A trip to this pharmacy is also an exercise in patience & poor customer service. This place probably doesn't pay employees very much and it is totally obvious by the service. Overall, it is what it is, it's convenient, and it's better than many. Your mileage may vary. read more

I'm really starting to hate this location. Never used to have problems here but it seems that after the store got updated things went downhill. I guess they have a lot of theft cause every time I go in, I get followed around the store by their security guards. I literally was in the store for 5 minutes today (including checkout time) and the security guard did 3 laps around me while I was choosing between cold medicines. WTH. I seldom do reviews of my visits to stores, this time however, it certainly deserves that one be made. As I enter the the establishment with my more than appropriate face covering, I asked the worker for a location for school goods and she happily was showing it to mu son and I. An older lady approached us and in a very disrespectful fashion contested my face covering as to not being appropriate. I inte to explain that being a frontline worker I only wear appropriate PPE approved by the industry standards. She curtly cut me off and basically kicked us out of the store. I have to admit that I was utterly upset, not at her disputing the face covering but at how disrespectful and brazen in her approach was in front of everyone. I hope that she gets educated in the proper respectful approach to shoppers that support the business. I reviewed other feedback regarding this store and it is not uncommon to get this type of treatment. I certainly would not recommend shopping at this location. read more

Their pharmacy is a rip off. CVS pharmacy's have the reputation for the highest drug prices. I needed to fill a prescription for Doxycycline. I called them, they quoted me $20.24. I get there give them my prescription and then they tell me it's $34! So I told them I had called beforehand & had been quoted $20.24. The pharmacist hems & haws and says he needs a special OK for that price from the manager. They ended giving it to me at $20.24. This company is scum. I've read that COSTCO sells their drugs at 16% above wholesale and you don't need to be a member to buy from their drugstore. Stay away from CVS. read more

This pharmacy is terrible, the staff is judgmental and rude. I had my purse stolen so Ididn't have my California I.D. Yet I did have three forms of Government issued I.D.s. The girl shook her head at me and told me they couldn't give me the prescription as she put it up in the air shaking it at me! Her pharmacist wouldn't come over and talk to me. I had a rx for my daughter from Little Co of Mary bc she had painful strep throat. When I turned in the rx, not but 2 weeks agoe, the tech said that they had to order it, and that it would be in in 2 days. 2 days later I come in and they said it would be in the next day. The next day I come in and they said 2 more days. I finally send my husband 2 days later and they tell him they don't carry it. I called and they said that the pharmacist that orders the liquid Vicodin is on vacation and it can't be ordered. I mentioned that this would have been awesome to know a week ago. They kindly informed me that I can pick up the rx and take it somewhere else. By which time, it will not be needed. My husband is Hispanic with a goatee. I can't help but think that they took one look at him and refused to give him her rx because of how he looks. I am so frustrated with them. I truly think that they blew us off and stereotyped my husband. They never even called to let us know that they were unable to fill the rx afterall. I had to call to find out after 3 attempts. To be fair... the pharmacy staff is nice (although frustrating in this instance). I like their phone system reminders. Also, the drive through is very very convenient. It's the only pharmacy around with a drive through, and it is very nice to just hop in the car with pajamas. It's nice that they are open on weekends and the pharmacy itself looks clean. read more

Worst pharmacy ever!!! Customer service is extremely disappointing. They tried to charge me $40.00 as copay when I had picked up the same medication 4 weeks back and I only paid $5.00 . The person at the drive thru window "Vincent" was extremely rude an arrogant when I requested an explanation about it . Handed me a summary of all the medications I have been dispensed at that pharmacy and indeed, it showed clearly I only paid $5.00 the previous time for the same medication. (Keep in mind my insurance has not changed) He told me to talk to my insurance and closed the damn drive thru window !!! This is unbelievable . They shouldn't have such inconsiderate , rude employees working with people whose health is on the line. Never again will I go there. There are tons of other pharmacies . read more

My husband needed his meds here, and the pharmacist refused to enter his insurance information and told us it wasn't valid. Well guess what, it is fully valid and either the pharmacists laziness OR her dishonesty dictated that she charge us 200.00 for it, while pretending it wasn't valid. I take a medication(needed) that is poorly compensated by my insurance, am on a loyalty discount program and have a set rate to pay each time my prescription is renewed. To my surprise my medication cost went up by $87.00 this month with no explanation!! After arguing with the young female pharmacist last night about why I wasn't notified of the change she says I can pay the requested amount and then ask for my money back when the issue is resolved. That would never happen as we all know!! So after calling the loyalty card company, the pharmacy(again) and then my insurance, I found out that the only problem was I needed a new pre-authorization sent in by my MD!!! CVS pharmacy is a joke!!! The staff is disrespectful and unhelpful to say the least! I have been in the medical field longer than most of the employees have been alive and do not respect professionals that do not do their job! COVID is not a universal excuse, after two years, for not stepping up to do your job! Thanks CVS for making ME stay on the phone for almost 2 hours with 3 companies to straighten out this simple issue I could have been notified of or they could have notified my MD and she could have easily resolved the issue! read more

I have never used this pharmacy before, so they don't have my insurance information on file. My doctor called in a prescription. It was already filled when I arrived, and it took less than five minutes for them to process my insurance information. Everyone was courteous and kind. I was expecting the process to be at least slightly difficult, but it wasn't. There was a security guard standing outside by the front door, so getting in and out was also not a problem. The store is fine but because of their pharmacy I will no longer shop there either. I took my prescription refill to them yesterday and I was told it would be ready today. Went in today to pick it up and it will not be ready until tomorrow. I explained my situation to them and asked that they please return the bottle that I gave them. I have a medical condition that can seriously be debilitating and I am being treated like a criminal. Save your time and go to Rite Aid, they don't take hours or days to fill a prescription and they have well trained staff. CVS is a waste of money and time. CVS on 190th Street in Redondo Beach gets my 5 stars - while the staff at Gaffey Street CVS gets my kudos - the management NEEDS to do daily - and prhaps several X's a day sweeps of the people that consistently sit outside the store and ask for $$$. On the side of CVS- there appears to be an encampment as of a few days back. I realize this is an issue and one our city has yet to fully address, but it is also imperative for management to take charge. Well as of today we have ANOTHER new manager... we change managers almos every other month.. and they all promise that they are going to make the store better....Don't think I've seen it happen yet.. Good luck to the new guy... Wish they would find a good way to solve the shopping cart issue... We get 8 carts in... The next day we only have 2.. Need to find another way to keep the carts inside the store with out the long poles on the cart... I promise if you need help out side I will help you out myself or call someone else that will... I work in the Photo Department and always ask my costomers if they need help on the kiosk.. Sometimes it feels like I'm anoying the costomer... Not a trustworthy location for COVID-19 vaccines/boosters. Understaffed and the pharmacists have very little knowledge of what's going on. It was impossible to schedule an appt. so I tried walking in as it's just down the street...9 times. After the first few times I asked when I should be there and the pharmacist said 2-5pm any day of the week. I came back the next day at 2 and they told me "Oops 3-5" but I had to go out of the city after and couldn't stay. Came back at 3pm on Saturday and was told they don't do walk-ins on the weekends and to come back Monday between 2-5pm. I told them I had been advised 3-5 and they said it was wrong and they start at 2pm. I went back today and was told by a pharmacist that they don't have any walk-ins available at all this week (on a Monday). I asked how they would know since walk-ins are based off of cancellations and I was dismissed as the pharmacist walked away. They really are trying their best to deter people from vaccinations here. Someone from the county health department should really take a look. read more

Blatantly because there is ALWAYS unpacked crates of merchandise in more than half of the isles, and if I wanna get condoms out of the case I have to wait 20 minutes for 1 of the 2 people working at 7pm to come open it, and then stand in the line of 30 people to buy em. Its rediculous. I wish there was a walgreens closer than harbor city. But now that rite aid has a discount card, there's no reason why not to go there, especially since it instantly gives you 10 percent off, rather than the cvs way of eventually maybe. read more

No STAR! Had to choose one to submit this review. The Pharmacy is beyond the worse! I dropped of my prescription last night. Someone called me asking for someone by a different name then hung up. I called back asking if there was an issue with my prescription. The Pharmacist told me no she doesn't have anything for me. I thought she meant no new info. I go to the drive through, because I have my 7 yr old with me and it was late, and when I pulled up a guy told me the Dr. didn't provide a strength and they left a message for him. I called the pharmacy and they said they haven't received a response. I called my dr. and they said they never got any message from CVS. I called CVS to tell them I want to cancel it. The guy (probably the pharm guy) told me they don't have any information for me. I told him I dropped off a prescription and you have no info? He said ..."well you're canceling so". I just hung up! I WILL NEVER GET MEDICATION FROM CVS! read more

This place is trash! The merchandising of the place is messy and containers of the products sold are always missing the product. I think al ot of people steal from here. And that's just the store. The pharmacy isn't that great. They did not pay attention to my order and didn't have it ready. I dropped my prescription off in the morning. They said it would be ready in 2 hours so I came by 4 hours later and it still wasn't ready. Didn't even call me to tell me my whole order wasn't available. So I had to go somewhere else to get the rest of it. Will never go back unless I'm truly truly desperate. Would rather drive all the way to a Long Beach location to get better service. read more

This place could do so much better. A few of the employees are friendly and helpful, BUT most of them are just lazy and rude. I'm talking about the front store. CVS needs to hire more employees for those really long lines they get and they could use more experienced cashiers. Worst CVS for customer service. I shop at CVS regularly, but am newer to the San Pedro area. I rarely return anything, but I had an unfortunate circumstance recently. I had bought beauty items to pamper my grandma with while she was in the hospital. Sadly she died only a few hours after I bought the items and I only got to paint her nails before she died. The rest of the items I bought to dye and style her hair never even made it out of the bag. I went to return them last week and the cashier told me I could not return them because I had used coupons to purchase the items. I asked to speak to the manager because this didn't seem right. All it takes is some simple math to figure out how to deduct the coupons from the total. He said he was the acting supervisor because the manager wouldn't be back in until a few days later. He was very rude and told me there was nothing he could do regardless of the fact that the receipt said I was still in the window of time for returns. I wrote an email to customer relations regarding the matter, but am still waiting to hear back. Meanwhile, I took the items to a different CVS in Torrance and the cashier there was extremely pleasant. She had absolutely no problem figuring out how much was to be returned to my credit card and even gave me a gift certificate for store credit for the amount of the coupons I had used. Talk about night and day difference in service. Might be worth an extra drive to ANY other CVS besides the Gaffey location in San Pedro. read more
