I have been using this pharmacy for many years and never had a single issue. Then I met the pharmacist Mandicia. Safeway switched their policy on the text notifications where you can no longer see which medications are being filled. Very frustrating when you take nine medications! All I want is to be able to pick up my medicine once or twice (I get it's difficult with that many meds) a month. I went to pick up my medication and noticed that one was missing. I inquired and was told it would not be ready for several days and that didn't make any sense to me. I went home and the bottle clearly had the same date as the others, so I called to get some clarification. From the gate Mandicia was rude. Beyond rude. She wouldn't let me get a word in, had a very nasty attitude and refused to believe me. I understand that the medication is a controlled substance (an anxiety med I've been taking for about 15 years), but there is no reason why I should've been spoken to like I was "drug seeking". All I wanted was clarification. I waited three more days until the text notification said it was ready. Unfortunately, Mandicia was there and not Mavis. Immediately she started with the same exact attitude. Same medication- different issue this time. Once again she wouldn't let me talk, and she refused to answer my question. I was so frustrated that I asked for her name- I couldn't see her name tag. She refused to even tell me what her name was! She comes out of her booth and starts talking to the customer waiting in line behind me while I'm still standing there trying to pay. Mind you- this entire transaction was only two minutes, so it wasn't like I was taking up a bunch of her time. I'm at my wits end! There's no way I should've been spoken to that once let alone twice. I get people have bad days, but leave the attitude at home. I get it's a controlled substance, but not everyone is trying to pull a fast one. In fact- I was trying to get less pills so my medication will now be all ready on the same day. Now I'm torn between supporting Mavis and avoiding Mandicia like the plague.

The staff was also very helpful! I was even able to find some of my childhood favorites. They have all of the local favorites that us DMVers grew up on, including 2 Liter Rock Creek sodas in various flavors, the big huge donuts (where you only need one), the frozen shrimp in the little freezer right outside of the deli, and a nice selection of international foods. This visit really brought back memories. I hope they don't close this one!

They have a wide variety of juices, breads, flours, chickpeas and lentils, daal, mango and other juices, coffee, tea, beer, kulfi (ice cream), etc. All of the prices are very reasonable. The staff is very helpful. I got a Haldiram's vegetarian paneer entree ($4.03), horse gram (assorted seeds, $7.56), Himalayan yak cheese ($14.13), dry figs ($8.07), two Kit Kats ($4.02), aloo bhujia (spicy bread sticks or noodles, $4.94), Thums Up soda ($2.01), current achan sticks ($1.00), and a Barashinghe beer (11 oz., $3.70). Plus Market is a smallish bodega, but they cram a lot of goods into it. You can purchase alcohol, ice cream, cleaning supplies, mac and cheese, any basic good you may need. They do take credit card, but in case you need it, there's a working ATM inside.

This grocery store might not have what larger ones do, but I find it convenient when fishing the Potomac close by. I do think this is a nice one. Was happy to get some shrimp for bait. Also the Caesar salad was quite tasty! You'll find this store clean and organized. Safeway can't compete price wise with Aldi, Lidl, or Wegmans. Yet at this location, I did appreciate the very good customer service. I'll be back as soon as the weather warms up. If in the area this is a decent grocery store.

The Hilltop Wegman's has a few things going for it…read more I can tell you that they have a very good wine section, even including a few organic (no added sulfites) vinos. Wegman's also has excellent meat and seafood sections. The bakery is impressive. And one thing they have improved since we first shopped here five years ago is that they have toned down the blasting music that used to make us want to get fast out of Wegman's. The hot foods section used to be pretty good, but now it has shriveled down to next to nothing, The take-home pre-prepared meals, while very good in quality, are exorbitant. Plan on spending $16-$18 for a simple meal, which is as much as you would pay in a restaurant for the same stuff. While they have an abundance of self-check stations, Wegman's doesn't let you get cash back, like you can at Safeway. The self-check stations can be persnickety. Today, I encountered one machine claiming I had put an unchecked item in the bagging item before I had even started scanning my stuff. Yikes! But what I really don't like is how Wegman's does bagging. The Virginia legislature in 2022 passed a law allowing grocery stores to collect from customers 5¢ for each plastic bag used. Wegman's has completely done away with plastic bags, yet Wegman's but takes advantage of that law to charge 5¢ for each paper bag. The icing on the cake is their paper sacks do not even have handles.

Staff is always friendly and has often given me "emergency refills " of my dog's controlled medications when I've forgotten to call in advance. Their cafe ... no words .. from having a bar.. to coffee .. SUSHI? Perfect place to study with a large seating selection. As for groceries.. I would expect them to be more expensive but they actually aren't bad. I love their kitty litter!! $12 and works amazing! Tip: Try their take on a shrimp po boy but in sushi form ... (you have to love old bay)
