The CVS in West Islip is huge, and it is open 24 hours. Lisa, the Pharmacist on duty, hastily came out from behind the pharmacy counter to listen to me complain about the continuous tears that have been flowing from my left eye for the past few weeks. I told her that I think it's due to Spring allergies because my optometrist did not find any pathologies, so she kindly lead me to the Eye Care section of the store, where she gave me some brand name recommendations for allergy eye drops. I bought the CVS generic brand of Olopatadine HCL, and although my symptoms have not improved, I am grateful for the excellent customer service that Lisa provided. The only negative about this store is that my Verizon WiFi is inaccessible here. CVS customers must use Public WiFi, which I refuse to do out of fear of online hackers. read more

George at the front end is absolutely miserable. Besides the fact that it looks like he hasn't washed his shirt in months, the payment terminal prompted me to enter my pin, as I did so he yelled at me and berated me saying he wasn't finished on his end. How am I supposed to know what he's doing on his end if the payment terminal is telling me to put my PIN # in? As I was leaving he yelled behind me NICE TO MEET YOU! In a sarcastic way. Every time I need to call about my prescription I cannot get through unless I pretend I am a pharmacist. Today my daughter has a double ear infection and amoxicillin was sent in from the pediatrician. It took the pharmacy more than 6 hours to mix up the amoxicillin for me to pick it up. This pharmacy is the worst!!! The workers are incompetent. The service is ridiculous, they're are annoyed you even showed up, and the drive-through pharmacy takes insane amount of time every time even when nobody is online. I do not recommend ever. West Islip deserves better than what goes on here. It's disgusting. read more

24 hour convience is a great prospect but you need the help to support this service. Especially if it is a pharmacy. You don't close down for a lunch break when you are a pharmacy. you schedule your people on lunch breaks and if you can't do that you have a help problem. On several occasions I have found people at the pharmacy counter givng out wrong information and rushing customers along because vthere are 30 people at the counter. Pharmacy consultations are crazy, the pharmicist is overloaded with prescriptions, has to get back and will try to be as nice and as friendly as possible GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES. PHARMACY IS MEDICINE. PEOPLE COME FOR ADVICE AND HELP IN A FAMILY WAY. DID CVS FORGET THIS ???? CVS built their reputation on caring (caremark), what the hell has gone wrong. How would you like to be vaccinaed by a pharmacist who is being over worked and is now going to inject you ???? I try to order some of my prescriptions on line to avoid the store. There is no hospitality, urgency or concern for, there are customers. Never will I spend another dime with CVS, especially this location and I will never purchase another gift card as long as I live. We purchased Visa gift cards last Christmas. The company issuing the gift card is Vanilla. One of the gift cards was compromised. It was used before it was even opened. We were told to call Vanilla, we did that. After months of investigation, they did not respond reimburse us. They told us to go back to CVS. After months of runaround and investigation, no help. I went to the store and told the manager. He "tried" to give me a refund and the "system" declined the refund. We were loyal customers. Yet, CVS continues to let criminals steal on a regular basis with no consequence and chalk it up to "shrinkage". Meanwhile we continue to be inconvenienced by locked up products and higher prices. CVS, your stock is down partially, because you cater to the people ripping you off and refuse to take care of your loyal paying customers. Therefore, your stock is down almost 20% yoy and almost 30% ytd. I guess you will not learn the lessons of Rite Aid, Walgreens and Eckerds in the south. Just read the many reviews posted here for most San Diego locations. It is one horror story after another when it comes to pharmacy services. Pharmacists are very very well paid these days. The curriculum is not rocket science. The vast majority of them do not ever break out their mortar and pedstal to formulate medications. Their job is mostly keeping a sharp eye on controlled substances and supervising small crews rarely exceeding 5-6 employees on any one shift. The pharmacists at CVS often lack even modest people skills and have little or no supervisory know how. The problem is that a person either has people skills or not. It's unlikely that a person can be trained in that regard. The retail side of every store is pretty good, but customers state repeatedly that prices are too high. Some compared them to convenience store prices. The CEO of CVS started out as a pharmacist. How can he allow such horrible practices to be the norm rather than the exception at CVS? If every pharmacy employee could just absorb and live by The Golden Rule, services would improve 100%. My guess is that half of all pharmacy employees, including pharmacists, could not explain what TGR is!!! I am a huge user of pharmacy services and generate lots of business as a result of my many prescriptions. One year my health insurance company paid out close to $25,000 on my behalf. I only use CVS because they happen to employ one astoundingly excellent pharmacist who takes wonderful care of me. I try to Only work with her. Management is responsible for this mess. Hands down the worst pharmacy I have ever had to deal with. They have lied to me on numerous occassions as to when my medication would be in stock. Every one of those times ive had to go over a week without medication that i take daily. Rather than give me a straight answer they lie about when it will become available and then tell me again they do not have it. Why is the pharmacy constantly under-staffed? Went for my flu shot today, the area they are giving the shots are in a random corner with other storage items blocked from the store by a screen- that's fine. What was awful is how unclean the area is kept, dust, bandaid wrappers and needle caps all over the floor and chairs. Literally had to sweep the chairs off to sit. Disgusting - and there were multiple people in the small corner that should only have 2 people MAX. Decided to leave - wouldn't recommend getting a shot at this location! Also, has anyone noticed it's a constant disaster, under-stocked and the selection of everything is terrible? Don't get me started on the selection of cards available! Do yourself a favor and never order photos there. It's a terrible experience. Tremendous waste of time, and they couldn't get the job done. If had I guess the online team doesn't really support the store staff well. Leaves them in a lurch. So that's not really their fault, but CVS fails the customer. This is my preferred CVS. It's relatively new and a decent size. Most importantly, it is open 24/7, which is a major key. I was surprised to see how badly it was reviewed. I have had nothing but good experiences here. The staff has been helpful when I asked. I don't remember being asked if I needed help though. That has been my experience with stores nowadays. When I worked at a CVS, we always asked. That should be a point of emphasis at a convenience store. People want to find what they are looking for, have a short line to no line, and get out quickly. I still feel it is the better CVS in the area. I usually go to this one, even if it is slightly out of the way. I think it needs some improvement in customer service and how long the lines take. The people in the pharmacy work very hard in a busy store. If your Doctor calls a Prescription in early it is put on hold and you must call to have it filled. They are to busy to answer the phone. The worst example of a pharmacy ever. I defected here from CVS in North Babylon, but this place is even worse. I'll never come back again. They have never once gotten a prescription correct. I've had a make a myriad of calls just to get the prior authorization from the doctor. I'm not doing it anymore, life is too short. I was instructed by the cashier at check out that if I signed up for a "care pass" I would save $10. He failed to tell me that there was a recurring monthly charge. The prices in this store are exorbitantly high, when there is a sale, it is nothing special, that is the price it really should be. After getting tricked into getting a care pass, having to spend hours on hold trying to cancel it, and spending a fortune on items out convenience, I will never come back in here again. read more

As far as CVS stores are concerned, this one is really top notch.... Most likely because it's a new location which was just built within the past few months. The aisles seem well stocked and laid out. The cashier was friendly, making slight small-talk through the transaction. This location seems to get a lot of foot traffic. I think that it's the closest location to the hospital, so everyone leaving the E.R. probably just goes right there, in addition to the regular flow of customers. Overall, a nice CVS location. Also... They are open 24/7 which is nice. The only other 24/7 drug store I know of within decent driving distance is the Walgreen's on Deer Park Ave. This is now my go-to late night drug store. read more

I had a prescription to be filled at CVS pharmacy. The girl at the counter said it would not be in until 3 days from now. My husband and I went to the consultation counter and Grace waited on us. I would give CVS a 0 if possible!! I refilled my medication on Monday. Tuesday I got a text stating it was on hold so I called and was told a truck would be coming in later that day and I would have it by 6 pm. At 6:30 I called and was told that the medication came in and was given to other orders but I would definitely have it on Wednesday. Wednesday at 4pm I called and this time I was told it was too early to refill my medication. I was told they would try and refill it on Thursday, when and if it came in I would receive it. I called my insurance and was told I could have refilled my medication from Sunday on. i basically called another pharmacy and got my medication writhing 1 hour!!!! I can't stand this CVS. They lie, they are rude, they are no help whatsoever!! I think this CVS needs a whole new turnover or just shutdown and put something useful there!! 24 hour West Islip CVS Pharmacy decided to change pharmacy hours to 6PM with no notification. I drove to the store and was met on the drive through line by a worker who turned me away. I got there at 6:30 and there were still 5 cars in line from 6 o'clock when the line was shut down. Needed asthma medication for my son but was told to return tomorrow. Hey... I have an idea... when you send me text messages all day long, maybe you can mention the change in hours. Called on the phone when I got home and a worker said that someone in the pharmacy tested positive . They changed the pharmacy hours on Saturday. The staff is very helpful but every time I try to refill or obtain a prescription the pharmacy staff seem to always transfer my prescription without my knowledge or consent to another cvs. This time when I went to pick up my refill they again claimed it was transferred to a different cvs, that when I called that one they said they did not have it, and it had actually been transferred and filled by the first one last month. read more

The cashier was rude as hell. I was on line and he was standing behind the counter but it didnt look like he was working, it looked like he was training or something. He makes a gesture at me to come over to him but he speaks so softly I had no idea he was asking me to come over to him. He finally says HELLOOOOO to me, so I come over. He rings up my stuff, I ask him for a bag and he throws it on top of my stuff. He prints the receipt and just leaves it in the machine. Staff members lucci and Carolyn were not only incredible to me but other customers!! They were so sweet and accommodating to each customer picking up rx. They really tried to help each customer and brighten their day. I was considering switching pharmacy's before this experience but now I believe I will stay because of the great service.
