To the Value Drugs worker who was rude to me and my friends today, get a hobby and a job that pays more than minimum wage you old frail cunt. Me and my friends went out to breakfast in town today, and afterwards we decided to go to Value Drugs to go and get a graduation present for our friend who's party we are going to tonight. After making out purchase, our parents said that they were coming to get us. Since they would be there in 10 minutes, we decided to just wait in Value Drugs for them. We knew that we couldn't sit on the cushioned chairs in the front of the store, but since there was no sign on the patio table chairs and the store was mainly empty, we thought it was ok. There was another worker around when we had sat down, and they said nothing about how we weren't allowed to sit there. All of the sudden, we hear someone say "What do you think you're doing?" in an EXTREMELY rude manner. I assumed it was someone we knew, and looked up smiling. When i saw a women wearing an earpiece, i realized that we didn't know her. We told her that we were just waiting for our parents to come and get us. She said, "Not in here you're not.", and kicked us out of the store. I understand how old people may have negative views on teenagers, but we weren't being loud and disruptive, and there were only 2 other people in the store. As people who frequently go to this Value Drugs, we are extremely disappointed in their lack of respect for paying customers, and just blatant rudeness. read more

Value Drugs. I spend way way too much time here. It's a very strange store and the name is very deciving when you break it down. For one there is no actual value. I actually find it to be a bit overpriced if your shopping for everyday items. Second is the word drugs. Yeah it is a drugs store but, you can literally find anything you might need here. Here's a current check list of things I have purchased: - aspirin - light bulbs - bottled water - bacon airfreshener - teakwondo cookie cutter - poop emoji hat - an over priced shirt - pool floats - a hammock Besides this strange list you can also purchase outdoor dinning room sets and bbqs. I like this place. Probably bc it's weird, but has everything you're looking for. Literally, everything. Half of Value Drugs is like hardware store 'light'. You can get anything you need for an apt form garbage cans, toilet seats, towels, laundry bins, duct tape, goldfish(!), extension cords, etc. The other half is filled with typical pharmacy stuff plus a pretty bangin vitamin / healthy eats section. I usually deal with Loren since I met her 18 years ago from another store. She always answers my nutritional questions and makes sure I understand her. Her suggestion to take D-Hist was a life saver. Back in the day, I managed the Exotic BIRD store across the street. This Pharmacy was very helpful in helping me fill the customized Veterinary orders for my animals medications and Specialty nutritional items. Conveniently located just across the street ,this Pharmacy was also was the best go for sterile gloves, oral syringes ,feeding tubes and other pharmaceutical items that I required. I was here almost every day. Now.. returning to Huntington Village years later, I can see that the place is pretty much the same. They did have a very big interior makeover a while back. I've always liked that you can get almost everything you need under One Roof here . The vitamins are plentiful and fresh and you can get anything from pharmaceutical items to summer clothing ,BBQs, seasonal supplies, every item your household may require. After taking a few photographs for Yelp, I became aware that the employees were staring at me out of the corner of their eye. Hey that's my job I usually do undercover security at pharmacies. I sure I know when I'm being looked at. Even though I was nicely dressed in a suit and tie, (Green of course for st. Patrick's Day). I still was aware that I was attracting their attention. Nobody did ask me if I needed any assistance and I was in the place a good 25 minutes. I attempted to be social with the young lady at the front register. Personalities here tend to be a little stiff I think. As I didn't feel all that welcome here today, I bought my breath mints and went on my way. Oh by the way, the ATM here does not work here and has not worked for some time. Hey folks I am REALLY your longstanding customer, (37 years) How about some more smiles and interaction with your folks that want to spend their money? (Hi sir can I help you find something).. which I did not hear. I have managed and worked in many retail operations. I cannot emphasize how important it is to get to know your customers ,get them a shopping cart and help them as they make their purchases. They will spend 5 times more. Just saying. This store also serves as a great cut through going from Main Street to Wall Street. I purchased a Bona spray mop from your Greenlawn, NY store. The product started malfunctioning in few days. So I took the mop back to the store for returning. However, I faced with an uphill battle with the manager, and felt the situation so intimidating that I left the store without the merchandise. I moved to Greenlawn area back in August, 2016, and visited the store about 20 times. During these 20 times, I have come across this manager about 5 times. Even though this was the first time that I visited the store for returning any item, my wife and I both felt a bad feeling from this manager. I never felt welcome, which majority of customers seemed like receiving. I believe it is because the way my wife and I look. I find the store is very convenient, but I cannot continue visiting unless you as a company start respecting your customers regardless of their races. read more

There are two entrances, so if you're looking for a drink, go to the entrance on New Street because that's where the fridges are located. They have a decent organic section which I love. This store is my favorite after the holiday seasons because all the holiday decor goes on MEGA discount. The pharmacists are really knowledgable here which is another plus. read more

Ian D. is absolutely right about some of the young female cashiers. There's one with long brown hair with a MAJOR attitude problem: with so many people out there needing jobs, why is she still there? She never, ever, acknowledges that there's a customer in front of her. She is SO bored, poor thing. Some little princess needs firing, Value Drugs, and soon. However, Tom, Chris and Sandy in the pharmacy are wonderful, wonderful -- so helpful and friendly to the extent that they know their customers names and go out of their way to make sure we get what we need. The "vitamin lady, " Lauren, is so peppy and knowledgeable -- she's hoot just to chat with. The male managers can be gruff and distracted, but, for the most part, they will strive to make sure that you find what you need to. Their seasonal section is amazing. read more

The vitamin/herbal lady here is extremely knowledgeable and incredibly sweet. She bounces between here and their Greenlawn location, but I always seem to run into her no matter which store I go in. They also are the only place that carries my favorite Burt's Bees children's toothpaste on Long Island. They have a great selection of natural beauty products, and are cheaper than Whole Foods for the same items. My only complaint is that they don't carry Jason shampoo and conditioner. read more

Meh. Too big to have the charm and intimacy of a Mom-and-Poperation (like that? I just made that up.) and too small to have the polish and professionalism of a big chain, Value Drugs suffers from being...neither. I just went in to find something, and while i didn't find it (I probably didn't look in the right place), I did find a bunch of other stuff. Took it to the counter, and while the girl there did wave aside the friend she was chatting with as soon as she saw me approaching, she didn't say a word to me that the transaction itself didn't require, silently holding out her hand for my credit card, silently handing it back while looking for something under the counter, and so forth...no "hello"...nothing. Then on top of that, when the PINpad thing asked me if my total was okay, I didn't even have time to see what the total *was*, let alone to approve it - I was still putting my credit card back in my wallet - before The Silent One was jabbing repeatedly at the "approve" button on my behalf. *What???* the hell is up with *that??* I know counter staff at such places are accustomed to keeping things moving by navigating such electronica on behalf of befuddled consumers (of which I am sometimes one - but I wasn't today), but it's always been customary, in my experience, for them to at least ask verbally for confirmation of questions directed at the customer before okaying the action on the customer's behalf. And to okay a *dollar amount* - of *my* money! - on my behalf...that's unacceptable. If you're my girlfriend, yes: such control is yours to exercise, and I'll love you a little bit more every time you do. But a girl I don't know...and who can't even be bothered to say hello to me?? I don't think so. Months later, it occurs to me that the girl's only alternative in this situation would have been to speak to me, to ask *me* to approve the purchase. So she must have had some very strong motivation to not speak to me. *wonders...* But wait! There's more! The transaction wound up not going through because their credit card terminal returned the response, "no carrier." Seriously? A credit card terminal that *dials up* a new connection every time somebody tries to make a purchase with a card?? I wound up leaving my would-be purchases on the counter and walking out. Had the girl at the counter acknowledged that i was a sentient being (or if I'd just been being consistent in my meditation practice), I might have been more inclined toward patience, but as it was, the patience I had had run out. read more

I have found Value Drugs prices in the store(not the pharmacy) to be very overpriced, in general, but now, with the covid-19 crisis, they are price gauging their supplies like paper towels, face masks, hand sanitizer, etc. At a time like this, with New York being the worst place for coronavirus cases and deaths, I would think that our local stores should be helping the community that has patronized them for years instead of exploiting us in our time of need. This is a go-to place for those that live in Huntington, as it kind of has EVERYTHING. If I need things that I'd have to drive out to the mall or Bed, Bath, & Beyond for, I take the short trip into town first because more than likely Value Drug will have it. Most recently, I got some Memorial Day decorations, had helium balloons blown up, got some organic pantry items, baby necessities, and a couple of books and toys. They have a wide variety of things, and the folks are friendly. I would say you will not get things cheaper here, you are paying for the convenience I guess. I will keep coming to get odds and ends on my list, and usually wind up leaving with more than that! read more

Today I was personally helped by Tom, who worked diligently to help me to significantly lower the cost of my prescription by obtaining a coupon from the manufacturer. I really appreciate his effort and kindness, as my insurance covered nowhere near the cost of the product. I was a regular at Value Drugs until today. They have lost a customer for ever. I would rather drive to the Target in Commack then patronize this store, which I am sad to say is in my own town. Here's why....I bought a lunch bag in the store last Sunday, 12/30/12. It was a $9.99 purchase and I foolishly did not save the receipt. When I went to use it the following morning, the zipper was broken. I brought it back to the store this afternoon and explained the situation. The person helping me went to the aisle to check the price. Finally she came back with an older guy. Without even explaining anything or introducing himself he tells me I didn't purchase the lunch bag in this store - so basically the guy called me a liar! I explained that I did purchase it but he was so nasty and rude. I walked out of th store telling him he just a lost a customer for ever. Hopefully someone else will read this review and not patronize this store either. What ever happened to customer service? I live in Queens but whenever I'm in Huntington I love to stop in Value Drugs because they sell everything under the sun and it's always so cheerful there. My mother and I shopped there yesterday and I had the good fortune to get Theresa as my cashier. The customer service is Ace! I usually go to Value at the same time every weekday and the same staff is usually available. One cashier that stands out is Rachel.
