Their guy came in and wouldn't even look to see what was wrong with my unit. They immediately told me that I needed a new system and quoted me an outrageous price. They told me that they needed to rip out all my walls to put it in. I wanted to get a second opinion, so I put a request through yelp. Dan, the owner of Max, emailed me within an hour with his cell number. Stacey, the office manager, called me first thing the next morning and sent out Joseph, who did a careful analysis of my system. It did need to be replaced. Paulo came out and did an outstanding installation, over 3 days, staying late on a Friday night to complete it. My walls were all kept intact. Dan and Sam have been stand-out with the depth of their answers to my questions. I appreciate that immensely as a demonstration of how much they care about the subject matter, and how much they care about ensuring I'm properly informed on what is happening. Sam and his crew were out all day yesterday dismantling the old boiler and installing the new one. They were friendly and engaged the whole time letting me observe the process. Sam called me over throughout to show me up close what had corroded in my old boiler, and to explain to me how it happened. He did the same during install of the new boiler to demonstrate all the critical aspects for maintenance--including letting me unscrew and rescrew a piece to practice for future cleaning. The new boiler is running smoothly right now. I feel like I understand its pieces. Sam even took an interest in diagnosing why my bathroom heating panel (which has never worked) wasn't heating. He cleaned out its vent and it has heat now. My cat is very happy to be warm right now. From the way Sam and his crew talked through all the aspects of the work they were doing, it was clear they take pride in the quality of the work. This wasn't just a job to get over and done with. We knew the furnace was on the last of its nine lives so Richie came and took a look and let us know our options! We chose to go with a new electric heat pump over just replacing the furnace because our air conditioning unit was older too and we wanted to get it all under control! LeBlanc Mechanical are impossible to work with and I would not recommend them to anybody…read more I reached out to LeBlanc because my A/C isn't working. First they tried to push out my scheduled appointment by a week, claiming that they were dealing with a lot of "no A/C" calls and needed to reschedule routine maintenance calls. When I scheduled the appointment, I clearly told them that my A/C wasn't working - this wasn't a routine maintenance call! When they did come out, they determined that the condenser was broken and that I needed to update my system because it uses an old type of refrigerant. They were supposed to get back to me within a couple of days with a quote. It's been nearly a month now, during which I've called them several times to check on the status of the quote. Each time, they assure me that they'll get back to me within 1-2 days. Each time, they don't get back to me at all! To this day, I still haven't received a quote. If LeBlanc doesn't have the capacity to service my home, they should just tell me that. Giving me the run-around for nearly a month is incredibly unprofessional - especially when we're dealing with unprecedented temperatures and I'm trying to keep the house cool for my children. Whatever is going on over at LeBlanc, they clearly can't be relied upon and should be avoided in favor of other, more responsive companies.

Basically, Aundrey came here for less than one hour and cleaned the dust off the the coils of both of my air conditioners for $650 and didn't even complete the job. He did not have a wet/dry vac so he used mine. He did not bring a ladder so he used mine. He did not provide replacement filters. Breakdown of the cost: From the invoice- 'Service call fee covers technician's trip to the job site, including travel time and transportation costs.' I asked Aundrey where he came from. He said from the office which is right here in Newton. 2.6 miles. 8 minutes. = $150 First Air Conditioner: He diagnosed it immediately. Then he cleaned the coils with a brush and he used my vac as well. Look, I have no problem with him using my equipment. I just never had a worker not have his own tools. I had already bought a new filter for this air conditioner so he didn't have to replace it. Total time, about 15 minutes. = $250 Second Air Conditioner which is in the attic. There is nothing in the attic but the air conditioner unit and we do not go up there ever. You need a ladder to get up there. Aundrey didn't have one. He used one of mine. Same problem. Also, This unit needed a new filter as well and it's a different size than the one downstairs. Aundrey left it without a filter and gave me the size of the filter I should get so that I can install it myself. Again, I can't get up in the attic because I'm physically limited. So my air conditioner is currently running right now with no filter. So, he cleaned the coils for about 20 minutes and left the job undone. = $250. Invoice: $150 Travel Time and Transportation costs. $250 Coil Cleaning and installing a filter that I provided. $250 Coil Cleaning and leaving the unit without a filter _________ $650 Oh, and this nonsense about them getting back to you in 10 minutes, it's an automatic text that tells you to call them. I called after I didn't hear from them for an hour or so. That's a big sum when Aundrey took an hour total including his drive time of 8 minutes and the gas he must have used to go 2.6 miles and then not finish the job while using my tools.

I must have called eight different plumbers or companies. Three would not provide free quotes or estimates, and they would have charged outrageous service call fees that one has to pay regardless of whether one accepts their quotes. Three companies offered free estimates and quotes. One quote was so ridiculously high, and when I questioned the price they described that the price included "Isolating water supply to unit by means of water main; relieving the pressure...." and the list went on and on, including a ridiculous list of normal steps for any plumbing job, including checking for proper functioning and leaks, as if these were the reason for the high costs listed on their estimates. It was a bit insulting. Petros was the last person I called, and he was refreshing. He asked for pictures of the valves in question, and before he gave me any quotes over the phone, he explained the options for repair and recommendations. He described the cost of the different types of valves (spoiler alert---they are not that expensive)--and explained his fee. No, he was not cheap, but I so appreciated the no-nonsense explanations and upfront pricing. I knew what the job was going to cost me, and exactly how much of the cost was going to materials vs. labor. Old fashion-business model and transparency that I appreciate. When he came to the house, he was friendly, efficient and professional; he explained and showed me what he did and what was wrong with the valves that were broken; and left the premises clean when he was done. He is a two-man company/team, so I cannot attest to how it would work calling him for larger jobs or emergency jobs, but I will definitely use his services again in the future.
