Had all windows replaced by CWD while they were located in Livermore, Family Run and Local. They have been out multiple times to "reglue" our windows. If the windows were not installed properly then glue will not correct the problem and now the glue has separated too. We have left voicemails and emails, no response. We were told by Milgard Technicians that the windows were not installed properly, go back to the company that installed them which is CWD! Now the rains will come and there will be water entering our home, bugs, dry rot, termites, the problems are endless the remedy seems outside of CWD to correct. They have to be redone properly. Why is the company not standing behind their work? We have been trying to resolve this situation for many years, so I was forced to review them with 1 star. read more

I bought 32 windows (including 13 transoms), 2 sliders, and 3 sets of French doors from Custom Window & Door (now Custom Windows, Baths & More). Some of them are casement style and others are single-hung. We also bought a craftsman-style mahogany front door. The order was complex as we wanted a specific number of divided lights in the transoms. They are beautiful! Jim was great to deal with and the office staff was helpful. All the windows and the door operate smoothly. We got extra Low-E glass for the south side of the house and the house stays nice and cool. I checked Better Business Bureau before I chose them. They got an A+ rating. They have quotes and job addresses from hundreds of customers too. I felt comfortable choosing them and I couldn't be happier with the job they did. The job was completed in 2 days, the crew was excellent, and the customer service overall was very good. There were a few lags in communication before we confirmed our project date, but our persistence paid off. A few windows in my hundred-year-old house needed frames built out around them - time intensive labor that was done well.The crew could've done just a bit more to cover surfaces / protect spaces from dust + debris, yet they cleaned up work spaces well afterwards, and when minor damage occurred in the bathroom, the team lead came back and spent a couple hours repairing the tiny dings in my porcelain sink. At first, Jim was very responsive and when I decided to have him do the work he was there in a flash to take my 50% check for all new windows and sliding doors. Then the problems began. The work was delayed and I was given the week before Christmas for installation. When I rejected that I was given a slightly better date, but only two workers showed up without the correct tools. Eventually the job took twice as long, it was complicated to have separate billing and service for the stucco contractor, and when the last few windows went in, I noticed that the latches were so high that I couldn't reach them without a step stool. My needs as a consumer weren't considered and I was never offered a choice of which latches would best suit me. Now, after thirteen months, the problem still hasn't been resolved. I recently moved to a retirement community and called CWD because Jim was referred to me by a co-worker. He came out to my place and was very nice. I asked for a quote on windows and interior doors. This was over the holidays and the quote took some time to turn around but I completely understood it was the holiday season. I received the quote. No break down of materials, labor, or any other detail than the price. I called the office and spoke to Maureen about quote. I let her know that I was not going to move forward with the window install at this time and was informed that Jim would have to re-do the quote because the cost of labor was going to go up. I was shocked! I was informed that I was given a discount on labor due to the size of the project. I have never heard of this and neither have my friends. Project gets smaller, requires less labor, they charge you a higher rate. Well.... even with the discount the prices quoted were still 15-30% higher than other bids for the same project. When I got the re-worked quote I was charged an additional $1000.00 for labor on top of the original quote. I would not use this company. read more

I actually would give CWD a 2.5 star as they're not "bad" but far from "great!" That said, I would not use them again nor recommend them. I elected to go with CWD after receiving 2 other bids. CWD's price fell in the middle of 3. Before the contract was signed, they were very responsive, then it went downhill from there. email inquiries went unanswered and calls unreturned, promises unkept. The installment was late and hurried, new windows were left uncleaned because it was the end of the day I suppose. They were shorthanded. I asked them to wear shoes covers as I don't wear shoes in the house and want to keep my carpet clean. He told me they don't have any, then hastily laid out dirty, torn covers with big gaps and stepped all over my carpet anyway. What I've learned from this experience is, when you hire a small mom & pop shop, and they're unresponsive and underperformed, that's the end of the line. I hope others who used them had better experiences than I. Perhaps I was just an "off" case for them. Nonetheless, I would not use them again nor endorse them. read more

The workers (Isiah was the lead) were comfortable with their assessment of need for repair, and did the work quickly and thoroughly. We just had 39 windows installed by Custom Windows Baths and More in a 6 day installation in our home. We were dreading the process but it couldn't have gone any smoother. Despite temperatures above 100 degrees for several of the days, the crew of Brockton, Edwin and Aaron were troopers. Their communication with us was flawless, they were professional, courteous, friendly and cleaned up after themselves every day. Everything you would want from workers in your home ~ they were that and much more. For a little additional background: We originally had 3 companies out to measure our windows to give us estimates ~ all three came highly recommended. Two sent us their estimate, the 3rd never did. We had pretty much decided to go with one of the companies but couldn't get them to return our calls. By a wonderful coincidence we happened to see a YouTube video by this company explaining how retrofit window installation works compared to new construction windows. I was missing a part for my Milgard sliding glass door (the piece the latch connects to for locking the door) and called them to see if the part could be ordered. They were more than helpful. I told them what the door looked like and they were able to figure out what door I had and actually gave me two different parts that they had on hand to see if they worked. I didn't want to have to leave a bad review but unfortunately I was left with no choice. Earlier this year I had Jim and Josh come over to give an estimate and take measurements for new doors in my home. They said the doors were a few weeks (4-6) out so we went ahead and ordered the doors through them and paid a deposit . When the time came around for the doors to be installed, there was a delay and they pushed back the installation another month. I had ordered and paid for the doors in early June and end of August still no doors. I really needed these doors installed and could not wait any longer so I asked to pick the doors up on my own and have someone else do the installation. When we picked up the doors, two of them were the wrong size, the front door was different from what we had picked and we had an extra pre-hung door which we never ordered. When I called about the issue with the doors it took weeks to get a response back, finally I was told they would come pick up the doors and I could get a refund. After another couple of weeks they said they'd have someone come pick up the doors but would not give me a refund check at the time the doors were picked up! I told them that I would wait until the refund check was ready and then I would take them the doors myself. That was last week and I still have not heard from this company. All I want is to return these doors and get a refund. Needless to say, I have had a not so great experience thus far with this company. read more

If I could give 6 stars, I would. For years our sliding glass door has given us problems and had got progressively worse to the point where it was almost not openable. After calling around to a number of places, getting ignored or getting the run around I was referred to CWD. Maureen got back to me right away, was super friendly, helpful and honest about what they could or couldn't do. Within a week we had a solution. Clarification, the owners get 5 stars. Installers get 3 stars. I got many bids and went with Custom Windows Baths because I really liked the owners. Some of the othe places I got bids from didn't seem interested in my business and I had to call them several times only to have them screw up the estimate. Custom Windows Baths always got back to me promptly and when I changed my request they adjusted the estimate happlily. They were low pressure but always friendly and prompt. Ultimately I was happy with the end product when they put the windows in, but the guy who who I hired to set up the alarm sensors for the windows thought that the installers didn't know what they were doing with the alarm wires. He had to fix some of their work and almost had to pull out a couple of windows to get the sensors to work. read more

I can't imagine getting better customer service from a construction industry company, and would give more starts if Yelp allowed it. We bought windows from CWD some 15 years ago, and ran into problems with the Milgard products which back them were considered one of the best options. When leaks and water damage started showing up, now 15 years later, CWD gladly came out to evaluate, during the holidays. Although the cause was not certain to be on their part, they sent out a team to reset/re caulk the windows, including a guy that could fix the water damage and rematch our drywall texture. After they had finished that, I noticed during a rainstorm that some water pooled inside the Milgard windows...they sent out their guy again and documented everything and initiated warranty work with Milgard. I have rarely experienced the level of customer support that CWD has given us, and wholeheartedly can recommend them as a reputable service provider with proven integrity. read more

This is a family-owned and operated business. The workmanship is fine. The office staff is helpful. Had 90% of my windows replaced 15 years ago by the former owner. Since then have had two sliders and one window replaced under this owner. I was hoping to obtain the energy tax credit on my Federal Tax return for 2010; however, it wasn't until I read the tiny fine print on the invoice (at tax filing) that I discovered the windows and doors I purchased didn't qualify. The sales rep never stated that fact out loud. Wish they were more direct about the "fine print" issues and what the "total price" includes and does not include. read more
