I used to have a gf that was a Cyborg. Hot, automated sex. Fun times. We broke up so she could date antoher machine (although I, too, am a machine. Ahem. A sex machine. Ahem), so now she's my Cyb-ex. These guys know how to make cardio machines! They are responsible for a lot of the equipment in a lot of gems of gyms especially YMCAs. There are other rival companies that just don't cut it. This is the only equipment I look for when I'm looking to get a good workout especially the exercise bikes. Thank you side effects I mean Cybex for making such awesome and sturdy and reliable exercise bikes. No thanks to side effects at all. For anything. And since I wrote this draft, they have got rid of ALL the Cybex machines at my YMCA. I am furious. Idiots. read more

I ordered the products from the representative named Lee Bingham. I have mixed feelings about him. He is quick with email responses, but sometimes I felt that I did not get as much information on the products as I should have. I had to send him additional emails to get more basic information. Apparently, we customers can get a discount on the products if we pay by checks. That's a good thing. However, the dollar amount listed on order confirmations do not match the ones that I write on the checks. That's the one thing that really bugs me.... I did bring that to his attention, but he never really gave me an explanation. I guess it's a company policy? Why didn't he list the same amount that's written on the checks when he already got those checks? I don't get it.... read more

History

Established in 1970.

The original Cybex was founded as a division of Lumex, Inc. a therapeutic health and hospital products company that acquired the patent for the first Cybex product, an isokinetic testing device, in 1970. In 1981, Lumex relocated the Cybex division operations to Ronkonkoma, New York as the company prepared to expand the Cybex product line into the medical and fitness markets. The Cybex division of Lumex continued to produce rehabilitation equipment in Ronkonkoma and in 1983 Lumex acquired Eagle Performance Systems (a fitness equipment manufacturer based in Owatonna, Minnesota) and established itself as a supplier of variable resistance strength systems to health clubs. In 1995, Lumex sold its medical supply business and changed its name to Cybex (AMEX:CYB). In May 1997, Cybex merged with Trotter, Inc.
