Given that I wanted to pick up as soon as possible, I selected the downtown store, even though the location is terribly inconvenient for me. Approximately 24 hours later, I called the downtown store, whom after about 25 mins on the phone with various people, told me they had no record of the purchase. Of course, I couldn't go pick up the jacket, the next day, at a location that was inconvenient, because MEC hadn't even processed the Order as of yet. Great. I called the customer service line and spoke to a male who told me "this sale has caught us completely off guard and we're overwhelmed". No kidding?? The male told me that there had been staff cutbacks this year, due to how slow it had been, but suddenly the sale has regenerated sales that have overwhelmed the existing employees Ok ... the spokesperson then told me that my jacket was in Winnipeg and had to be shipped to Edmonton! What is going on here, MEC?? You hold a Black Friday sale and you're overwhelmed??? Then my next day pick up, at this inconvenient location, is in Winnipeg??? The kicker is December 16, 2024, I received an email from MEC telling me that my order has been cancelled. My goodness. He spent many hours messing around and researching options. In the end he figured it out and charged me only for the time to install them (as well as a gear fix that needed doing). Amazing service. Hippy types at the front counter in hoodies, wish they had clear identifiable work attire. I love their attitude, I love the friendliness atmosphere and their overall attention to the customer than the pocket book. Most places are in for the money. They are in for the experience. But what made my day and struck me the most was the fact that they were able to recycle used parts to use for others instead of throwing them out. Redbike is very eco-friendly, and they exude a service that no one else can match. I would have paid nearly double at other places. They were affordable and complimentary on rates. That was not their fault, however, they sold me 2 tires that were better than what I was replacing. Unfortunately, when I had the tires installed elsewhere it was determined that the tires were made for a wider rim. When I went back to RedBike the person in charge said they would take the tires back but that there would be a restocking charge. I can't believe a bike shop would not recognize that the tires they were selling me were made for a wider rim than the tire that I had enquired about and that they had shown me. The tires they showed me were substantially bigger off a rim than the tire that was the exact replacement. I learned that the wider rim reduces the diameter to the tire when it is on the rim.

Please read the whole experience for a twist at the end. I went in last summer (2025) after visiting a few bike stores to pick a new bike to be able to qualify for events around my city. This store won me over by offering a $2150.00 bike on sale for $1700. It was perfect for me at the time as I was planning to up grade the bike to a professional spec as I figured out what needed to be changed on it to fit my riding style. I was a professional mountain biker for 6 years and know what I need to do to customize a bike to work best for me. The very first thing I wanted to change were the tires. I was having issues slipping going up hill so I found grip that helped specifically with that. I called them up for the up grade and they responded with the tires are to expensive, they didn't tell me the price of them, they were just to expensive. Im guessing because I picked a brand outside their carried brand names, they just said no because I gave them my contacts information to get the tires and they made an excuse about not being able to buy them from another store. My contact had them for a very good price and if I bought them they'd put them on. Sooo like, its to expensive for them, cant buy itbfrom another store if they're affordable. I still wonder to this day if there is anything I could've done or said to get them to order these tires. Although I wanted this grip change, there was an urgency to this order as the factory valve kept on leaking. This is an issue I brought up with them, I had mentioned the leak sealant came in clutch and they never brought it up again. They actually changed the subject. Next I wanted the handle bars customized, I'm not racing over super technical terrain where an extra 2 or 3 inches of width would be beneficial to control the bike, I want to be as small and compact as possible to be able to pass people in gaps on single trails. They said they didn't recommend this change, almost as if they are clueless about this style of racing and basically flat out refused the modification. Most recently, I wanted to order a new front chain crank. Im a 6'3", 220 LBS guy. That means I have a lot of weight to push down on my pedal which allows me to be very aggressive in my pushes on a bike. I brought my bike to the store to ask about this. Now, this may just be me, but I would think ìf someone took the time and effort to bring the bike into the store. Working out a solution to the reason they are there would be a priority. There are tons of solutions I. Would've entertained as I have a small issue with the drive train (that when i brought up was told it would work it self out) but yet again, the part i need is un available and nothing they can do about it. I mean, im not quite sure why this store exists. The staff doesnt know how to set up a bike professionally. Their source for parts are non exsistant. The shop doesnt want to do any work according to the few times I've dealt with the salesman's. The only good reviews I could find on this store are parents bringing their kids bikes in for repairs. Which leads me to think thisbstore as a whole is equivalent to my next door neighbors dad with a tool box. After all the above was said and done, and as being a 43 year old that is retired. My disposable income allows me to make very rash decisions about what I want to accomplish financially. The issues I have been having with this bike and the store I bought it from made me so frustrated I marked the bike as sold on bike index and then left it in the park behind my house for someone to steal it and get it off my hands. I am now on a new brand of bike dealing with a store that can get parts and wants the work. I can not recommend this store on this app any less than 1 star. We felt like we were begging to buy something. Is it your shops practice to not offer other sizes other options for ordering or the correct thing? I was met with the feeling "we are done here" or maybe confusion? every time I asked for help to buy something. I wanted a helmet, maybe a water bottle holder, some shit to spice my spin bike. Let me? As a business owner this would be discouraging to hear, especially with covid - but we literally have to buy elsewhere as your associate gave us zero options for a product YOU SELL.
