As I placed my order, it indicated that the downtown store was "Next Day Pick Up". Given that I wanted to pick up as soon as possible, I selected the downtown store, even though the location is terribly inconvenient for me. Approximately 24 hours later, I called the downtown store, whom after about 25 mins on the phone with various people, told me they had no record of the purchase. Of course, I couldn't go pick up the jacket, the next day, at a location that was inconvenient, because MEC hadn't even processed the Order as of yet. Great. I called the customer service line and spoke to a male who told me "this sale has caught us completely off guard and we're overwhelmed". No kidding?? The male told me that there had been staff cutbacks this year, due to how slow it had been, but suddenly the sale has regenerated sales that have overwhelmed the existing employees Ok ... the spokesperson then told me that my jacket was in Winnipeg and had to be shipped to Edmonton! What is going on here, MEC?? You hold a Black Friday sale and you're overwhelmed??? Then my next day pick up, at this inconvenient location, is in Winnipeg??? The kicker is December 16, 2024, I received an email from MEC telling me that my order has been cancelled. My goodness. I've been a supporter of MEC for over 25 years, and have never seen such awful customer service or a absolute lack of responsibility in fulfilling an order - for that matter, I don't think I've ever had a more disappointing exchange with any store, ever, than this experience. I will never again shop at MEC. Shame on you, MEC. Not the MEC I once knew

The bars I bought last year from United Cycle wouldn't stay on though since the handle bar is not a uniform width. Abdula explored multiple options including new handlebars and ultimately discovered that there were ways to reconfigure the ones I had to make them work. He spent many hours messing around and researching options. In the end he figured it out and charged me only for the time to install them (as well as a gear fix that needed doing). Amazing service. The place feels more upscale and they likely are paying higher rent. A basic bicycle tune up is now $150. And it doesn't include the wheels. A nearby bike shop is only $100. And they quoted replacement sprockets and chain would get me over $400 dollars. So this place seems expensive in my view. For that price I could just buy a new bike. Hippy types at the front counter in hoodies, wish they had clear identifiable work attire. Selection of bikes and accessories is good so I would go there for that but I would seek bike service elsewhere.

They assisted me in getting work done on my bike and even suggesting other parts and fixes that in then end saved me money and where cheaper as well. I love their attitude, I love the friendliness atmosphere and their overall attention to the customer than the pocket book. Most places are in for the money. They are in for the experience. But what made my day and struck me the most was the fact that they were able to recycle used parts to use for others instead of throwing them out. Redbike is very eco-friendly, and they exude a service that no one else can match. I would have paid nearly double at other places. They were affordable and complimentary on rates. I highly recommend Redbike over any other bike shop and store in Edmonton.

That was not their fault, however, they sold me 2 tires that were better than what I was replacing. Unfortunately, when I had the tires installed elsewhere it was determined that the tires were made for a wider rim. When I went back to RedBike the person in charge said they would take the tires back but that there would be a restocking charge. I can't believe a bike shop would not recognize that the tires they were selling me were made for a wider rim than the tire that I had enquired about and that they had shown me. The tires they showed me were substantially bigger off a rim than the tire that was the exact replacement. I learned that the wider rim reduces the diameter to the tire when it is on the rim.
