Especially classes with Kris, Hannah C, Hannah Z and Tonya are always highly encouraging easy to understand and make it easy for anyone even beginners to feel comfortable to ask questions and talk to. Having been here since it opened, I would recommend this place to anyone (and already do!) For someone who has lived in Sacramento for 13 year now, I KNOW this gym has everything you'd need and there isn't others like it. Update:their 100 Class Celebration is much appreciated !

I have gone to every other instructor and I have loved every class- So Naturally I really wanted to enjoy this class because the workout itself was genuinely good and challenging, and I definitely felt like I got a great Pilates workout in. Unfortunately, I found some of the instructor's commentary throughout class pretty uncomfortable and distracting. There were several comments made about not liking when men attend her classes because they grunt and sweat too much, along with jokes about being unhappy when men are in certain classes. It wasn't just one passing joke--it came up multiple times, which started to make the overall atmosphere feel unnecessarily negative. I also think it's worth remembering that exercise isn't always quiet or pretty--people sweat, breathe heavily, and sometimes make noises when they're physically exerting themselves, regardless of gender. I completely understand joking around and bringing personality into a class, and I actually think that can make a workout more fun. But I also think a gym should be a space where everyone feels comfortable walking into a class, whether they're a man, a woman, or anyone in between. I would hate for someone to try Pilates for the first time and hear comments that make them feel like they aren't wanted there. At one point, the instructor even joked about being able to imagine someone leaving a negative review about her and said that she just has to speak from her heart. I respect being yourself, but I think there's also a difference between how we joke with friends and how we speak when we're leading a class in a professional setting. The workout itself was good, which is why this was disappointing. I left feeling like I had gotten a great workout physically, but the overall vibe of the class made me feel more uncomfortable than uplifted. I think the class would have been significantly more enjoyable with less commentary about who should or shouldn't be in the room and more of that energy directed toward encouraging everyone who showed up to work out.

Review #100! Thrive…read moreNutrition & FITClub offers FREE Cardio Drumming and Strength Training classes Monday through Saturday. As of summer 2022, 1-hour weekday classes have been 6 pm, and Saturday classes are 8 AM Strength Training and 9:30 AM Cardio Drumming. Strength training classes are on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It is suggested you bring your own mat and hand weights, but there are some provided in class. This was my first experience with cardio drumming. Caroline is our beautiful, fit instructor. It's super fun and clever way to get in your steps and cardio effortlessly. Class is clearly popular and addictive with a loyal following. My favorite routines are the ones with salsa and arm movements. Cardio drumming classes are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Cardio drumming involves using drumsticks to pound on an exercise ball on top of a laundry tub set to the music. You might stretch, squat, lunge, or dance in front your ball/tub set-up at times. You might lower yourself to pound on the laundry tub. You might be pounding the exercise ball to the left or right your own ball. Some people run around the ball as they drum. Here's a video clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTnjelSLoBA If you want to pick the perfect spot to exercise for cardio drumming, arrive 30-45 minutes early. Beginners should start in the 2nd row or further back and be centered to have people in front, behind, left, and right of them to copy. The instructor and experienced cardio drummers stand in a line in the front of the classroom. Regular class attendees can often tell you are new and will greet you and help you get set up. There is no formal sign-in sheet, I don't think. Thrive is located in Sierra Meadows Plaza, where BarnBurner, Jing Jing, Kathrin's Biergarten, Wally's, and Sushi Kakogan are located. It isn't hard to find a parking space, but if you're bringing your own equipment, you might want to find a closer spot. Arrive at least 10-20 minutes early if you want to place an order for the shake service or mega tea. Shake service consists of 3 drinks: a pre-workout aloe shot, an energy & metabolism tea during workout, and a post-workout high protein, low calorie shake. Most shakes are 200-250 calories and 24 g protein! You can also place your order ahead of time: Call 916-259-1964 or text 916-835-2228. As of summer 2022, shake service costs $11.50. You can order a 2-drink service of the aloe shot and tea for $3.50. The energy and protein powders are Herbalife brand. Rhonda Hansen and Char Avila are co-owners with the Tsutakawas and skillfully handle the food and drink orders. Rhonda impressively memorizes your name over time as she takes your orders without any formal introduction! Aloe shots come in 3 flavors: Mango, Cranberry, and Mandarin. Mango is my favorite. The energy and metabolism teas come in these flavors: Original, Lemon, Peach, Raspberry, Pomegranate, Green, Chai, Cinnamon, and NRG. Raspberry is the customer favorite. Shakes comes in over 80 flavors!!! These are some customer favorites: #15 Butter Pecan #34 Coffee Toffee Crunch #39 Cinnamon Toast Crunch #19 Chocolicious #67 Chocolate Butter Pecan #23 Reese's Peanut Butter Cup I enjoyed #26 Cherry Garcia, my very first shake, and a sample of #50 Banana Split. Craig's favorite shakes include: #12 White Chocolate Caramel #39 Cinnamon Toast Crunch #48 Banana Nut Muffin #80 Lemon Pound Cake (+$1 for juice) #53 Raspberry Lemonade (+$1) There are seasonal and holiday flavors. Ask for the Secret Menu, or look for a specials menu. From Facebook, I gathered this information on special menu items: #80 Lemon Pound Cake #81 Candy Cane (winter) Pumpkin shake flavors are available in the fall, starting in September: #74 Pumpkin Cheesecake #77 Pumpkin Latte #85 Pumpkin Pie #86 Pumpkin Toffee Cheesecake #95 Pumpkin Toffee Popular Mega Tea flavors include Pink Lady, Watermelon Jolly Rancher, Summer Breeze, and Beauty and The Beast. Pink Lady and Summer Breeze are Caroline's favorite mega teas. On Sundays, you can order a Waffle Bowl Sundae, a breakfast shake made with 1/2 of a hot protein waffle. 31 grams of protein and 350 calories. Thrive also sells protein cookies in a variety of flavors. They also sell protein donuts on Tuesdays. Group photos or videos are taken every class. Most people are unmasked in this indoor class. Hand sanitizer, masks, and disinfectant spray and wipes are by the cash register. I'd recommend taking a fun trip to Guitar Center in Roseville to choose and purchase your own drumsticks from a huge selection. I got Size 5A drumsticks. 5B is thicker. Timbale sticks are similar to Cardiostix. However, Thrive has plenty of equipment if you don't buy want to buy your own. The free cardio drumming classes got me start exercising again after a torn calf muscle, so thank you very much to Caroline and Craig Tsutakawa for getting me into Thrive. Lifetime Folsom is not a gym... it's a full-blown civilization…read more Met a friend here for a workout, and since she's not a member, we had to do the whole guest pass process first. You know... the "tap here, sign here, acknowledge that squats may humble you today" routine. But I've got to give credit where it's due -- the front desk made it ridiculously easy. They were handling a phone call and getting my friend squared away at the same time, and somehow still made it all look smooth. No chaos, no confusion, no "uhhh let me get my manager." Just straight-up professionalism. The second we walked in, she looked around and said, "Is this a city or a gym?" I said, "Honestly... both." Because Lifetime Folsom is not for the weak or the directionally challenged. This place has everything. Pool, spa, cafe, workout floors, recovery zones, pickleball, tennis, locker rooms that feel fancier than some apartments... at one point I'm pretty sure if you turn the wrong corner you accidentally enroll in a wellness retreat. And my favorite part? The confidence people have before a workout. She came out of the locker room with that movie trailer energy like, "Alright, let's do this." Looking at me like, "Bring it." And I did. I coached her through the workout, and for the first 20 minutes she was hanging in there strong. Then somewhere around that 1 hour and 30 minute mark, the spirit left the body. By the end, the look had changed from "I got this" to "I would like to formally unsubscribe." And honestly? Respect. Because the workout was solid. We laughed the whole time, had great conversation, and got after it. That's what I love about Lifetime -- whether you're going hard or just trying to survive the stair climber without seeing your ancestors, it somehow still feels fun. After we wrapped up, we grabbed our stuff and headed to the cafe because recovery was no longer optional. She needed a pick-me-up, and honestly, probably a new set of legs. We grabbed shakes, sat down, and started coming back to life. Then out of nowhere she goes, "Ummm... tacos?" And I looked at her like she had just spoken the Lord's language and said, "Yes." Then she hits me with, "I got the spot. Follow me." Now THAT is elite leadership. So basically this place gave us: a killer workout, laughs, smoothies, and the launching point for Taco Tuesday. What more do you want from a gym? A zip code? Actually... Lifetime might already have one. In all, Lifetime Folsom continues to prove it's way more than just a gym. It's an experience. It's a fitness amusement park. It's where confidence goes to get tested and where post-workout taco plans are born. And honestly... that's beautiful.

I joined this gym specifically because of loving to play pickle ball. Their app is very helpful and let me know they had open play on a Monday morning so I showed up, but everybody was already playing and it wasn't clear how open play worked because it looked like nobody was waiting but me. So I went back into the club and asked the pro how it worked, he walked me out and asked a group of ladies if they would mind me rotating in. They told him sure. However, they joked around about who was gonna get stuck with me on their team because I was new. I had a lot of fun playing, but it was really clear that when it came time to rotate, nobody wanted me on their team. I didn't think I played that badly. I came back when I could play with my husband and loved it. Then the club had a tournament so we joined. At the beginning, I ranked in the bottom tier, which was fine because I was still new and there were others in the tier with me. During the tournament I met other really nice people who were also figuring things out like I was. However, I progressively got better and kept moving up the tournament ranks until one night I made it onto a pretty decent group of players who I hadn't yet played with. The first serve to me was a screwball serve, so I missed it. They immediately stopped the game and said I didn't belong there. All 3 players walked off the court and got the pro and told the pro that I must be in the wrong court. She assured them I was on the correct court. It was humiliating and very awkward because I was definitely not welcomed. And it was hard to put my head in the game, so I reinforced their assumptions by not playing my best. Interestingly, when that same man served to one of the others, she blamed the ball saying that there was something wrong with it and threw it away, but when I had missed, it had to be something with my abilities. Just very unfriendly. I tried another open play another time, but it was also awkward. Everybody seemed paired off, and there were no rotations or invitation to join. I kept wondering if I simply didn't know the protocols and the pros/staff were no where to be found, so no facilitating the game play. My husband went to another night's open play and he said it was super awkward because the pros/staff weren't facilitating that night either. So he stood around like I had, and not sure how to get involved since the pro/ club staff seemed MIA that night too. I think the experience would be so much better if the pros or staff facilitated open play. Players definitely have feelings about new people so a structured facilitation would be really helpful. Overall this club has so many great features but open play pickleball isn't one of them.
