Visited this studio with a GF that is interested in signing up. I have been bragging 'bout how much I LOVE the Midtown location and with Member Appreciation Weekend, this weekend - she was able to get in a free complimentary ride. First of all, this studio is huge. With its theater-like set up, what's nice is the bikes are set up on different levels so it makes it super easy to see the instructor. The bikes are pretty decent (different from Midtown). I loved the openness of the actual bike studio. The sounds quality was pretty good too! Kaylyn, the instructor is amazing - as one of the CycleStar training instructors - she really knows her stuff and plays really good music. If you're looking to try a new workout, CycleBar is the place to be. Not only is it great cardio but it's a full body workout that will leave you feeling so darn good after just 45 minutes. Give it a try!

Thanks to ClassPass I've been able to check out a few studios in the area since I'm new here and travel a lot! This was the first class I attended and loved it! The girls were so nice and the instructor took time to teach me step by step how the bike works, how to use the special bike shoes (I'm new to this!) and to not worry if I didn't get the hang of it right away. The class itself was great for me as a first timer, I was able to follow allow and burn calories. The amenities are also neat, biking shoes provided if needed, filtered water station, showers, cool towels after each workout and lockers. I'll definitely be coming back and possibly go full time as a member!

Review #100! Thrive…read moreNutrition & FITClub offers FREE Cardio Drumming and Strength Training classes Monday through Saturday. As of summer 2022, 1-hour weekday classes have been 6 pm, and Saturday classes are 8 AM Strength Training and 9:30 AM Cardio Drumming. Strength training classes are on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It is suggested you bring your own mat and hand weights, but there are some provided in class. This was my first experience with cardio drumming. Caroline is our beautiful, fit instructor. It's super fun and clever way to get in your steps and cardio effortlessly. Class is clearly popular and addictive with a loyal following. My favorite routines are the ones with salsa and arm movements. Cardio drumming classes are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Cardio drumming involves using drumsticks to pound on an exercise ball on top of a laundry tub set to the music. You might stretch, squat, lunge, or dance in front your ball/tub set-up at times. You might lower yourself to pound on the laundry tub. You might be pounding the exercise ball to the left or right your own ball. Some people run around the ball as they drum. Here's a video clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTnjelSLoBA If you want to pick the perfect spot to exercise for cardio drumming, arrive 30-45 minutes early. Beginners should start in the 2nd row or further back and be centered to have people in front, behind, left, and right of them to copy. The instructor and experienced cardio drummers stand in a line in the front of the classroom. Regular class attendees can often tell you are new and will greet you and help you get set up. There is no formal sign-in sheet, I don't think. Thrive is located in Sierra Meadows Plaza, where BarnBurner, Jing Jing, Kathrin's Biergarten, Wally's, and Sushi Kakogan are located. It isn't hard to find a parking space, but if you're bringing your own equipment, you might want to find a closer spot. Arrive at least 10-20 minutes early if you want to place an order for the shake service or mega tea. Shake service consists of 3 drinks: a pre-workout aloe shot, an energy & metabolism tea during workout, and a post-workout high protein, low calorie shake. Most shakes are 200-250 calories and 24 g protein! You can also place your order ahead of time: Call 916-259-1964 or text 916-835-2228. As of summer 2022, shake service costs $11.50. You can order a 2-drink service of the aloe shot and tea for $3.50. The energy and protein powders are Herbalife brand. Rhonda Hansen and Char Avila are co-owners with the Tsutakawas and skillfully handle the food and drink orders. Rhonda impressively memorizes your name over time as she takes your orders without any formal introduction! Aloe shots come in 3 flavors: Mango, Cranberry, and Mandarin. Mango is my favorite. The energy and metabolism teas come in these flavors: Original, Lemon, Peach, Raspberry, Pomegranate, Green, Chai, Cinnamon, and NRG. Raspberry is the customer favorite. Shakes comes in over 80 flavors!!! These are some customer favorites: #15 Butter Pecan #34 Coffee Toffee Crunch #39 Cinnamon Toast Crunch #19 Chocolicious #67 Chocolate Butter Pecan #23 Reese's Peanut Butter Cup I enjoyed #26 Cherry Garcia, my very first shake, and a sample of #50 Banana Split. Craig's favorite shakes include: #12 White Chocolate Caramel #39 Cinnamon Toast Crunch #48 Banana Nut Muffin #80 Lemon Pound Cake (+$1 for juice) #53 Raspberry Lemonade (+$1) There are seasonal and holiday flavors. Ask for the Secret Menu, or look for a specials menu. From Facebook, I gathered this information on special menu items: #80 Lemon Pound Cake #81 Candy Cane (winter) Pumpkin shake flavors are available in the fall, starting in September: #74 Pumpkin Cheesecake #77 Pumpkin Latte #85 Pumpkin Pie #86 Pumpkin Toffee Cheesecake #95 Pumpkin Toffee Popular Mega Tea flavors include Pink Lady, Watermelon Jolly Rancher, Summer Breeze, and Beauty and The Beast. Pink Lady and Summer Breeze are Caroline's favorite mega teas. On Sundays, you can order a Waffle Bowl Sundae, a breakfast shake made with 1/2 of a hot protein waffle. 31 grams of protein and 350 calories. Thrive also sells protein cookies in a variety of flavors. They also sell protein donuts on Tuesdays. Group photos or videos are taken every class. Most people are unmasked in this indoor class. Hand sanitizer, masks, and disinfectant spray and wipes are by the cash register. I'd recommend taking a fun trip to Guitar Center in Roseville to choose and purchase your own drumsticks from a huge selection. I got Size 5A drumsticks. 5B is thicker. Timbale sticks are similar to Cardiostix. However, Thrive has plenty of equipment if you don't buy want to buy your own. The free cardio drumming classes got me start exercising again after a torn calf muscle, so thank you very much to Caroline and Craig Tsutakawa for getting me into Thrive. What a wonderful, generous, and healthy contribution to our community!

I have gone to every other instructor and I have loved every class- So Naturally I really wanted to enjoy this class because the workout itself was genuinely good and challenging, and I definitely felt like I got a great Pilates workout in. Unfortunately, I found some of the instructor's commentary throughout class pretty uncomfortable and distracting. There were several comments made about not liking when men attend her classes because they grunt and sweat too much, along with jokes about being unhappy when men are in certain classes. It wasn't just one passing joke--it came up multiple times, which started to make the overall atmosphere feel unnecessarily negative. I also think it's worth remembering that exercise isn't always quiet or pretty--people sweat, breathe heavily, and sometimes make noises when they're physically exerting themselves, regardless of gender. I completely understand joking around and bringing personality into a class, and I actually think that can make a workout more fun. But I also think a gym should be a space where everyone feels comfortable walking into a class, whether they're a man, a woman, or anyone in between. I would hate for someone to try Pilates for the first time and hear comments that make them feel like they aren't wanted there. At one point, the instructor even joked about being able to imagine someone leaving a negative review about her and said that she just has to speak from her heart. I respect being yourself, but I think there's also a difference between how we joke with friends and how we speak when we're leading a class in a professional setting. The workout itself was good, which is why this was disappointing. I left feeling like I had gotten a great workout physically, but the overall vibe of the class made me feel more uncomfortable than uplifted. I think the class would have been significantly more enjoyable with less commentary about who should or shouldn't be in the room and more of that energy directed toward encouraging everyone who showed up to work out.

I tried out a free cycling class at Cycle Bar with my sister, and let me tell you, it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Emily at the front desk, who was incredibly sweet and welcoming. We signed up for the 5:30 class with Sabrina, and she was simply amazing! She helped us get setup with our bikes. As first time cycling, they welcomed us with our names written on the lockers... ahhh so cutesy!! Sabrina's energy and positive vibes made the 45 minute ride fly by, and I can honestly say that this class surpassed any cycling experience I've had before. The atmosphere at Cycle Bar is so authentic and friendly. Everyone we encountered radiated good vibes, which made us feel right at home. We were jamming to EDM music while cycling our hearts out, and while it definitely kicked my butt, Sabrina's energy kept me motivated throughout the class. It was such a great experience, but we didn't want to commit to a membership since we already have one at a gym. We thought about it for a few days, but then decided it was worth it and signed up for the new members package, which includes three rides for just $49! I'm not sure how long that deal will last, so I recommend hurrying to take advantage of it! Katelyn, the manager, was super helpful in getting us set up for our next class, and there was another staff member with beautiful green/blue eyes who was equally sweet and initially helped us (sorry, I forgot her name!). We also tried the hip hop class with Addie later that evening, which was just as fun but offered a different vibe from the EDM class. I love hip hop and rap, and I appreciated that they played the original versions, not the clean ones! It definitely made my cycling experience more lit, lol. Both classes were great in their own way! Cycle Bar truly goes above and beyond with their amenities. They provide cycle shoes to borrow, fresh towels, and even a minty towel post ride. The bathrooms are stocked with feminine products, hair ties, and everything you might need, making it super convenient. Plus, they have a water machine for refills, and all these extras are complimentary! Just freaking wow!! I love you guys!!! lol I had to come back and edit and add another cool thing. You can download their app which tracks your rides!! Super cool. And you can also download their playlist from the classes, book your classes etc!! Amazinggg.. As someone who has been a Yelp reviewer for years (8 as an elite. I'm trying to get it back this year), this is hands down one of the best places I've ever visited, and I'm soooo excited to share my experience as I'm writing this. This is actually my longest review, and I'm telling you, you're missing out if you haven't checked out Cycle Bar! How do they only have 6 reviews? Come on, people! If you're looking for an uplifting and genuine cycling studio, look no further than the Folsom location. Trust me, you won't regret it! I can't wait for my next class next week, eek!
