I had an amazing class here and just thinking about it, I can feel the endorphins! At the time of my class I had a couple knee issues but I didn't want that to stop me from trying new things (without pushing myself) and spin/bikes are pretty safe for me to use. I let the instructor know about my injury so if she seen me take it easy or go slow, she knew what was up. She was so supportive and understanding! The other members of the class were friendly, chatting to one another before the class and saying hi to the newbie, me. One of them helped me get my shoes attached to the bike since I didn't know how and another helped me with the bars. It was a collaborative environment of strong women which was amazing to be in. I am a plus size lady and while I dont let that stop me from being active, sometimes I feel like an outlier size-wise. But in this class there were women of all sizes and shapes and everyone was getting their workout on and having a blast! I love how we all sang at the end of the session- this class was the definition of a fun group class environment. Great value for the class and everyone should try it. read more

Just wanted to update my review since I've been a member for a full year now! I love it even more than I did when I first started! I have felt so comfortable and welcome since day 1. It's now under new ownership and the new owner, Alli, dropped prices of memberships AND childcare. She has even shown up to cover childcare rather than cancel it if someone is sick. She is also so open to trying varying class times to see what works best. I was so nervous to try a new gym, I had no idea what I was doing, I figured spin class was a work out for your quads and nothing else and I was certainly wrong! I LOVE that I get such a great work out in just 45 minutes. Whether spin, strength, or barre every instructor is so great! They help you and accommodate you and constantly motivate you. I recently had surgery and Alli even reached out to all the instructors and told them to keep an eye on me to make sure I didn't do too much. I could go on and on but I am so thankful I found this little community and honestly bummed I didn't find it sooner! read more

I honestly don't know how this place has such good reviews. It must be because of the really great staff and instructors, because it is NOT because of the owner, Alli. The amount of slander and "trash" I have heard her talk about her staff and employees is honestly appalling. I would never recommend this toxic environment, which really sucks for the outstanding work the staff does. I just can't get behind such an incredibly bigoted and size discriminatory owner of a fitness studio. People are there to work on their fitness for god's sake! To hear the things I've heard the owner say about the staff makes me so self conscious, I can't imagine showing up for classes and being constantly judged about my size. Shame on you. read more

My first time ever cycling was at TrueNorth and I thought it was the most challenging but fun workout ever! A few weeks later, I tried the 2 week membership and realized how much I enjoyed it. I love coming to TrueNorth. Everybody is very friendly and make an effort to know you by first name basis. I have always wanted to try SPIN but never knew what to expect. My friend suggested I go with her and try it. Bought a coupon on Groupon and have been hooked ever since. I come here when I'm in town as I split residences between the Bay Area and Sacramento. I mostly attend the classes led by Christie B, a GREAT instructor who really makes you work hard, incorporates weights, and nice cool down. What I like most is she emphasizes "this is your ride" Ride to your level but try to keep to the beat of the music. It is a GREAT cardio workout and calorie burner. Also, TrueNorth is not about competition between you and the other riders (don't have an electronic board displaying each individuals stats). Again it's my ride. Trust me when I say I am spent after each class and what a great workout!! It took me a couple of classes to get use to the lingo and moves while riding...still get mixed up from time to time...but those legs are still pumping :) Thank you TrueNorth! read more

I love True North. I miss True North. Not only are the instructors extremely talented in what they do, but they exude such enthusiasm and motivation - you can't help but get caught up in it. I enjoy the spin classes, and no matter how good or bad I may be feeling when I walk through the door, the atmosphere is so electrifying and positive that I'm immediately transported into a state of euphoria. Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration, but you get my point. I attend 4 morning classes per week and my instructors are Melissa, Brie, Amanda and Christie. All awesome, all encouraging. TrueNorth Cycle AND Barre is such a great place if you want to work out your whole body. This is a perfect combination for workouts. The Barre classes are terrific. They even have a beginner class, for those new to Barre, which is a fantastic combination of strength and stretch. Very experienced instructors that are friendly and helpful. Officially I can say that I actually like working out! The high energy level classes make it actually enjoyable. I always leave drenched in sweat and feeling the burn! I can't push myself as hard on my own so this is great for me. I love that they provide you with a towel for during your workout, plus an essential oil cloth at the end to clean up and feel fresh. Quiana classes are my favorite (so far ) and remembered my name even after only my first class with her. Sarah is so sweet and so helpful at setting up my bike and I love the energy that Christie brings to the room. This place has fabulous instructors that make you feel comfortable no matter your skill level. Though I live closer to a Team Ride location, service, amenities and energy keeps me driving the extra 15 minutes out of my way to TrueNorth. Tried out my first class today and the instructor was super high energy and motivating. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The facilities are very clean and I love that they provide spin shoes for you and towels as well. They thought of everything well except one thing..... This place would get a higher rating from me if there was more air circulating in the studio. I am an avid cyclist who also train indoors at home when I need to. I always use a fan when I am riding indoors. I have also raced in 100+ degree weather in Davis and Lodi and ridden 50+ miles in Malaysia (the most humid and hottest place ever) and even then there is breeze. So yes you get a VERY sweaty workout here but no breeze. All the spin class I have been to always had fans blowing around as well ..... It was a fun class and I am impressed by the high energy instructor and the quality of the studio but I need more air circulation. read more

Two words... FREAKING INCREDIBLE! I have taken Soul Cycle before and loved it. Regular spin just doesn't do it for me. Let's start with the bikes, shoes and the facility are very clean. Love that. I think the cost is to high. We purchased the 3 pack for 40 dollars, which expires why? I would like more choices of commitment. Good place, great idea! Just need to cater more to the casual/occasional bike rider. 40$ monthly max 4 rides I would sign up for that, I could ride once a week just to change up my routine. Seriously beyond impressed with this spin studio. Payed $15 for a single ride and felt like it was worth every penny! The shoes were amazing I've never rode with cycle shoes before. Makes a difference. I loved the ambiance. The spin room was beautiful. The lights were amazing and the music was the best part. The instructor went above and beyond! We did a total body workout. I left dripping sweat to a point that I didn't even know I could sweat that much! They give you a nice cool towel to wipe off with when you leave it was awesome which I thought was the icing on the cake! So impressed with this studio! I hope they expand and come to Elk Grove! I became instantly obsessed with True North the moment I finished my first class. I love the spinning community and you can tell the girls who run it are like family. Everyone there is always so friendly and happy and it really makes the world of difference in my day coming to class and seeing everyone's faces. The studio is badass and they nailed the vibe. I love how each instructor brings a different feel to each class through their music playlist, intensity level, a/c and heat, lighting, etc. They also have themed rides and challenges, always keeping it fresh and never boring. I just recently lost my dog and best friend 2 months ago to cancer. Hardest thing I've ever dealt with. That being said I was on a mission to find a new hobby. My new "thing" if you will to help keep my mind busy, my body healthy and to help me on my journey to heal my wounded heart and fill the huge void I now have in my life. I had heard so many great things so I decided to try TrueNorth out. AWESOME is an understatement, its truly addicting. The staff is extremely kind and all the the instructors are very helpful, motivating and inspiring. Each class is unique depending on the instructor you ride with that day and the super fun play list they have lined up for you. EVERY class I've been to has been challenging but I felt comfortable even as a beginner who was brand new to spin. I love that the classes always leave me feeling like I got my butt kicked from head to toe. Such a great workout in 45 min and SO MUCH FUN! The culture they have created at TrueNorth is a pretty special thing. I'm a small business owner in the Folsom area, and the culture/atmosphere of a business is one of the first things I notice. I've been going to spin class at True North for about 5 months. I started when I was pregnant and I'm still going strong. I love this type of spin class. I always leave drenched in sweat (the only way you should leave an exercise) and feeling like I went to a dance party. It's challenging but flexible for anyone's needs. I have also used childcare for my almost 2 year old and he was a bit clingy to me at first, but the ladies we extremely helpful in his transition and he always left with a smile. I have been going to spin classes at my gym for years and thought I would try this place since it is close to work. The workout and the instructor were great, but the room is kept very warm (it was 76 degrees during my class) and there are no fans. I was not expecting the heat, there is no indication on the website that the heat is turned up for the class. I would give 5 stars if it was 70 degrees with fans in the room. read more

I've lived all over the United States and have been spinning/doing barre for years and this is one of my favorite studios ever! First of all, the girls that work there are the absolute sweetest from the front desk to the instructors. They're kind, they take the time to care about new people, and they care about each person that comes in. The workout is amazing, I leave there drenched every time. Everyone's welcoming and it honestly feels like a family/community. The childcare is great too. The workout is only 45 minutes and insane. Don't hesitate to join here! I decided to come here because they were offering a free first class, and I thought why not try it out? When I first got there, the front desk staff did not even acknowledge my friend and me. They kept talking to each other and to other members. We looked at the desk and there was a sign in sheet, so my friend and I signed in then told them we were new and didn't know where to go. One of the front desk ladies did not even acknowledge that we said that and walked away, so the other lady told us there were cubbies we could put our stuff in. Okay, so can you please tell us where the cubbies are? While she told us that, she gave us waivers to sign but she didn't even go over the dangers of spin. My friend and I are both college students and enjoy going to spin classes, so luckily we knew how it worked. After, we went to the cubbies and changed into our cycling shoes then walked into the spin room. I would expect the instructor to walk around to help people, but she didn't. I have never used cycling shoes so I had to figure out how to hook them onto the bike myself. When the class started, the instructor didn't even introduce herself to the class. It seemed as if she was acting like everyone already knew who she was and that we all knew what to do. I know what spin entails, but it would be nice if she went over all the positions and how her class worked beforehand since there are actually people who have never been. Since it's a new studio experience for me, it would have been nice. During the class, she just started clapping and everyone knew what to do, but I was highly confused. After class was over, she left the room and was talking to all the members, probably regulars. My friend and I said thank you, but it would've been nice if she had greeted or said goodbye when we left. When we got to the car, my friend said that her left shoe kept becoming unhooked when we would be cycling fast, and everyone would look at her every time it happened. It got to the point where she said she wanted to get up and leave. The instructor was walking around the room enough, she could have noticed that one of the bikes wasn't working and tried to help. Overall, while the workout itself was pretty good, the experience was not. Customer service is very important to me, as I'm sure to many others. Especially to new customers! I read another review like mine, and I agree that if this would have been my first spin class, I would not be going back. I am not going back as it is. It would be nice if the studio treated each person as though they are new to spin. I am home from college for winter break, and I would've considered buying a package. But now, I will not be giving them my service. It's a shame, since I love going to spin and enjoy friendly customer service but this experience was highly disappointing for me. read more

Today was my first visit here. Actually my first time at a spin class anywhere. My fitness level I would say is a 1. My usual exercise routine is getting in and out of my delivery truck to deliver packages and that's about it. :) I had a great time in class. Energy level was great. Music was great. Loved the instructor. I basically sat in back and went at my own pace for the 45 minutes and I didn't feel any pressure to do more than what I could handle. I love TrueNorth!! My very first spin class was in August for my friend's birthday ride. After that, I was hooked. I now go three to five times a week and feel great. The classes are high energy and motivating. The instructors push you to your limits and afterwards you feel amazing. I been going consistently for three weeks now and I can feel a huge difference. Seriously, this is an amazing company and they are owned locally by two of the instructors. I don't know about you, but I rather put my money into local businesses than corporations. I really like this spin studio. They are nice and eager to please. There is only one...really big problem. They don't turn on fans during the workout. They have said that they keep the a/c at 74 degrees (I think that is still too high) but don't use fans. Team Ride does put the fans on to keep you cool and energized and their staff is equally as nice. Because of the excessive heat in the spin room, I opt to go somewhere else. I really wish they would fix this because I would put a better score were it not for that one (major) issue. read more
