I was so panicked and had to get out of the car with him and didn't know where to go to call a tow truck or figure things out. This was the closest business that made any sense and when I came in, I was kindly greeted and explained my situation and the staff let us sit in the lobby while I waited for assistance. They were so kind as to play with the baby, offer us toys and a changing table, and kept asking me if I needed anything. I just wanted to publicly say thank you so much to everyone working for your kindness and making a super stressful situation easier. My first trainer moved a month in. Took two weeks to hear from the replacement who I learned at our first visit wasn't available when I was. So I left work early on trainer days to accommodate her schedule. She moved away three weeks later and it took another two weeks for a new trainer to contact me (so three total training weeks lost through no fault of my own). By that time, my 3-month contract was over. I asked for a refund for the three visits ($170) that were missed considering I'd held up my side of the contract and my work schedule is busy in the fall. I didn't want to extend. Denied. So be aware that there's zero wiggle room if THEY make a mistake, and you're held to paying for it either way. EDIT to add they offered a year for me to use the sessions they missed. But not being able to create a relationship with *a* trainer and now having one-offs available isn't helpful in my work schedule so I'll end up eating the money.

I have every intention of being strong and active as I get older, but other types of exercise would result in me putting my back out. A strong core helps prevent the back strain/injuries. So Pilates has made me stronger for other sports and activities. Owner Taylor is an amazing FUN knowledgeable instructor, but there are so many unique instructors that I relish learning from all of them. Finally, Rocky Mountain Pilates & Yoga REALLY gives back to the community too. It feels like this studio is part of the fabric of Lafayette. OH! I've been a member of Roots since moving to Boulder in 2012. In my biased opinion (and isn't that…read morewhat Yelp is all about?), Roots is the best CrossFit gym in all of Boulder ... and the country, far as I've seen - and I've dropped into my fair share. Let me explain: * The size of the gym is spacious, not cramped, and always clean and organized. Total win. * There's a mindful flow to class structure with a group warm-up and WOD intro that is guided - it's never a free-for-all. And the class waits to break their sh*t down until everyone is finished WODing. * The coaches are the best, most skilled IMO. They care about form and foundational movements and technique. They keep class sizes small so you get the attention you need, whether you want to admit it or not, to get better and, more importantly, move safely. * They have four dedicated Oly platforms, where is where I now spend the majority of my time. I love that. I got my own space to work on my Oly lifts or pull out a rack to back/front squat, without having to fight for space, barbells, or plates. * They have ample Open Shop time that I utilize for shizzle. No other gym in/around town is going to let you treat their shop like your own personal gym, but Roots does with near-daily Open Shop times that let you come in and do your own thing, catch up on a WOD you might've missed, or work on technique and gymnastics. * There's always a coach onsite. If you need a spot, some advice, or general pep talk, you don't have to look far to get the support you need as an athlete. I love that. Sometimes, you may even get advice from a coach without asking - that's how much they care. Okay, here comes the WARNING: If you join Roots - or even try it for a few days and classes, be ready to FEEL SPOILED. To feel like no other gym will ever meet your expectations, because that's exactly what will happen. Roots is the best, worth every cent, and very accomodating for all athletes of all ages (they have a kids program and a seniors program), as well as community-minded and welcoming. To be honest, when I moved to Boulder without knowing ANYONE, I got through that first awkward couple of years (you know, trying to meet friends and trying to feel at home) because of Roots. I started in their Women's Only program and made fast friends with the ladies, before I self-graduated myself into the standard track after doing the 2014 Open. If you're a member of Roots, I think you can agree with me - you feel like you're part of something special, something important, something worth preserving at all costs. It's not the cult-mindset (ha, like that even exists in CrossFit); it's the Roots Family outlook. When you're in, you're in.

This week at CrossFit roots after participating in a multi-day gymnastics seminar coached by Shane my wife was invited by her classmates to participate in the daily wod. When she attempted to walk into the group coach Shane asked her "what are you doing". My wife made her wishes known and was coolly informed she is not a member of that box and may not participate. Even when another athlete offered immediately to invite my wife as her guest coach Shane remained adamant that joining the wod was for some reason against the rules. This is a disappointing experience to have at such a well-established box. CrossFit Roots is known to be the home of several well-known CrossFit athletes, good coaching and unfortunately also a somewhat callous management. If you are looking to join a box in Boulder I cannot recommend CrossFit roots.

Pure Barre as an exercise modality, as well as this particular studio, are absolutely outstanding…read more I joined eight months ago as a mostly sedentary office drone / occasional weekend warrior. It was the hardest workout I've ever done, and that hasn't changed. What has changed is my strength, stamina and muscle tone. I started seeing gains at three months and it's only gone up from there. At 40 years old, I'm astounded at how far I've come in a short time. And the endorphin boost after catching your breath cannot be beat. It's all thanks to the incredible women who run this ship. Every instructor I've had has been top-notch. They run smooth, professional classes and dole out meaningful praise and helpful form correction. I most often take classes with Lindsay, Ayla, Holly and Abby, though I'd recommend them all. The women at the front desk are wonderfully kind and thoughtful, as well. The class formats bring a lot of variety to barre -- from Classic's resistance and Align's stretching to Define's weightlifting and Empower's cardio. They have frequent, reliable class times throughout each weekday plus weekend mornings. And yes, they charge $15 if you cancel soon before class. For me, that serves as a great way to ensure I choose the gym over the couch. I can honestly say Pure Barre has changed my life and health for the better. I'm so grateful to have found this place.

I get you give your employees the opportunity to go to classes. Yet it is a huge inconvenience when you are trying to reschedule or make the deadline before you have to pay. The gym has athletes that are the best in the state, and athletes who are in their 70's and are just shooting for longevity. If you want a gym where people actually talk to you when you walk in, a gym where coaches care about your progression, and a gym with expert knowledge and energy- Koda is the only place you will find it.
