You need not be an avid cyclist to shop here, though, as the staff makes up for it. Every member of the shop's staff that I have met throughout the years has the utmost care and concern for you and your bike, even if you bought your Huffy at Meijer's. Not many shops in Michigan can say that. I unfortunately worked for some. If by some astronomical chance you are not Karen and something goes wrong, the staff will happily work with you to make it right. There are not many good cycling shops in East Michigan, but this shop is one of the best, if not the best. They say you get what you pay for, but here you get more.

I had raised the handle bars and the cables were 2 short. the owner ask if I had Hydraulic brakes I called back after verifying that I did. I was told the price would be 189. I brought the bike in the next day and was quoted a price of 325 plus he was telling me that the extender I purchased form a Giant dealer was no good and I should replace that too for an additional cost. I was not happy and told him that and expressed I was stuck and if I am paying that price it better be perfect. He said he could not guarantee that and refused to do the work. I would not recommend this service to anyone the bait and switch and then the push to purchase more unneeded hardware in the extension shows he is only in this to make money. I would not take your bike here for service.

Was also told the brakes were really bad and the wheels were really wobbly. The same bike had been ridden in a competition 3 days prior to that. I was told that it would be at least $100 and the bike would be barely rideable. I feel like they saw a woman who didn't have a clue and they could take her for a ride. Well guess what not happening. I watched the man test the brakes, while holding the brake handles and trying to push the bike it didn't really move. So tell me again how the brakes are really bad. They just wanted to see how much $$$ they could get. They are getting nothing!!!

They have some of the best service I have ever received when it comes to bicycles. I have personally bought my own bike here 3 years ago, and it's still going strong. They really took the time to assess what was important to me in a bike and made suggestions around that. They seriously have about 60+ bikes for adults in the showroom along with another 20+ for kids as well as one of the most complete parts/accessories selection around. You're a skater you say? No worries. They have you covered as well. Boards, wheels, bearings, tattoos, meth...Hey you kids! Stay of my grass! Damn kids, with their hip and their hop! Okay, so I have no clue what boarders like or need, but they have a nice selection of things that one could ask for....I tried to be like Tony Hawk and do a 920 McTwist, but wouldn't you know McDonald's doesn't serve anything like that. I think Avril Lavigne was there last time but that's unconfirmed :) I have twice been here in the past 3 months getting tires fixed (flats) that cost me less than $12 (including labor) each to fix. - That's fantastic! They are quick to greet you, take your bike, and get it fixed all while you are waiting. The owner, Al, has been there every time I have been in there which says a lot to me as far as being hands on. I have found him extremely kind, funny and genuine. The bad? Really nothing. I can say that the other employees are young (late teens - early 20's) and aren't very polished with customer service skills/interactions so it seems that they are very awkward speaking to people. The prices for the bikes (not accessories) are higher than your average Target or Trash-mart (Walmart) but the lifetime tuneups and service well make up for it. Plus, I'm a huge small business supporter. Do yourself a favor, next time you are in the market for a new bike or board, need service or just have questions, take a trip to Al's Quick Release - it's well worth the trip. Now, if you don't mind, I need to squeeze into these bicycle shorts (illegal in 35 countries), and go meet Lance Armstrong...

I have wanted a new bike for a long time…read more Although I looked online and could have likely found a slightly cheaper price or brand, I wanted to have store support when I needed assistance. Dave and the Walled Lake staff have been nice. They have helped me upgrade my base purchase of a Verve 2. Best part of buying a Trek bike is that it comes with a free adjustment and free tune up within one year of purchase. Compared to my previous bike, it is solid, quiet, and lighter due to the aluminum frame. I would purchase a different style bike from here. Look forward to diving deeper into the biking world.

I was trying to give the local shop some business with a certain possibility of purchasing a new bike in the not so distant future. The shop owner was very rude and I guess they didn't need anymore customers because there's a snowball's chance in hell that I will purchase anything from this shop. They have a very superior attitude and they had turned down another customer right before we got there. Good luck with the pending recession!

We browsed for about 5 minutes before Doug came by and gave us the rundown on her options. She settled on one quickly and Doug had her out back on the bike for a test ride. He had her try a couple of other options to make sure she knew what she wanted. We bought her bike and I had my own bike in for a tune up the same day. What a great experience. Thanks DTFBS!
