The cable for the brakes was not connected, the handlebars were not tightened, and the tires were not inflated. I took the bike into Chain Reaction for the brakes. They found all the other issues. I expected to leave the bike there for the repair. To my pleasant surprise, they took it into the repair area and make all the repairs immediately. They were so sweet to my 6 year old Granddaughter, making her feel like an important "customer". In addition, one of the repair guys taught my Granddaughter to ride her new bike. Then he showed me several bikes in my price range and let me try them out. I found a bicycle that was the perfect combo of comfort, ease of use and price. Because of a special on this brand, I was able to save over $300. Chandler helped me understand what accessories I would need and explained the purpose and use of each one. There was no upsell involved -- he wanted me to understand what was available. He explained I didn't need to buy everything he showed me today. What I did need to begin riding was a helmet (which he helped me with getting one that fit like a glove), a tire pump and road kit for repairs. Chandler took all the time I needed to ensure I was comfortable with the purchase. He adjusted the bike to fit me and made sure it was ready to hit the road. Unfortunately, we couldn't fit it into my car. Chandler went ABOVE and BEYOND expectations: he said he would bring the bike to my house when he got off work. You don't find that level of service many places anymore. I would highly recommend AJBW for all biking needs. Be sure to ask for Chandler B to be sure you have a terrific experience. I went to Outspokin' Bicycles first and the guy I talked to couldn't even give me an actual price to tune-up my bike, just kept saying, "It's going to be very expensive to fix this, I recommend just buying a new bike." Even after explaining that buying a new bike wasn't in my budget and that I simply wanted a tune-up, they continued to tell me how expensive it would be to fix my bike. They listed a long series of repairs, never gave me a clear estimate, and said it would be more than two weeks before I'd get my bike back. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion at Cycle Center--and I'm so glad I did! From the moment I walked in, they were friendly, honest, and helpful. They gave me a clear, very reasonable quote, completed the work in just two days, and when I picked up my bike, I could hardly believe it was the same one. It looked and rode like new!
