Beyond thankful to Shereen Tan for getting me back or should I say in BETTER condition than I have ever felt..words aren't enough to show my appreciation for her expertise, understanding personality, and being my motivational leader to me while I was injured. I was throughly impressed by Shereen's medical insights, and the ability to identify my bad habits that were also attributing to making my injury worse.. She took the time to educate me on the ways to practice my new physical therapy regime everyday. It is true what they say "knowledge is power." Previously before coming to Cynergy, I went to PT before at another practice in the city (which was one of there reasons I was hesitant about getting into PT again) and it was ok, but I spent most of my session by myself doing the exercises that I could have been doing at home. Cynergy is a whole different type of physical therapy. I knew immediately how different it was- I just smiled on the inside:) Every session was one on one with Shereen.. and that is quite amazing! I had her all to myself and actually got better much quicker and felt excited to go to my sessions. I had wasted so much time being injury, I was eager to get better. And I certainly did... I also had the pleasure to get to know Shereen personally and she is quite an inspiration to listen to. I will miss coming to Cynergy fro my PT sessions, but wanted to write this review just in case someone was in need of a team of physical therapists that really love their patients. I've had the opportunity to work with Laurence Agenor in the Midtown East location. Being a professional dancer I've met a lot of physical therapists and she is by far the most skilled, patient and understanding. Not only did she help me target areas to strengthen but she also adapted each exercise so that I could relate it to dance. I felt supported and prepared physically even in the midst of a pandemic with a tailored approach which has been a privilege to experience. Each session has helped me improve my performance, increasing my range of motion and better knowing my body which is extremely necessary as I will be performing in the Lion King in Paris which will be very physically demanding. The care Ms.Agenor put into making sure I had an understanding of the reason each exercise was being done made it possible for me to reproduce those on my own without fearing to injure myself. By the end of those 4 months of weekly training I was given a tailored dance warm up depending on the environment or time I'd have as well as tons of tips. Laurence is incredibly passionate, skillful and caring. She shared her knowledge with no limitations and went beyond by explaining how to adapt to different hazardous situations that could come up in the future seasons. I highly recommend for any dancer! Dance is often taught from the way it looks on the outside and the shapes we have to shrink our bodies into. Laurence will help break the thin line between what we think we should look like in the movement and guide you to a tailored correction of what's fitting for you. read more

Hi there. Just writing a quick review about the services at Cynergy Physical Therapy and more specifically my therapist Christine Rodriguez. I am a professional performer currently working in Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and have been working in the industry for 15 + years. With many visits to physiotherapists over the years, my experience with Christine was unparalleled. She is warm, inviting, easy to get along with and most of all brilliant at her job. She is a consummate professional. Always on time, always consistent and extremely knowledgable. I had an injury related to my wrist which can take months to heal, but alas with constant therapy from Christine, and following doctors orders I was able to get back to work within 4/5 weeks. Case to case may vary but I was grateful for the work she did on my wrist and would be happy (and have) to refer any one to Cynergy and Christine. With out a doubt. Cynergy East has been a complete life changer... more specifically my therapist Christine. I am finally feeling so much better and stronger than I ever thought was possible. I had a complicated arm injury that was affecting my right hand, combined with terrible posture and sitting at a computer for long hours - no fun. My doctor recommended Christine at Cynergy, as she is a Occupational Therapist and a Certified Hand Therapist to treat my condition, which I know understand how rare such training is. My experience at Cynergy was excellent through and though. Monisha (Mo) is a phenomenal physical therapist and an incredibly smart, knowledgeable, and thoughtful practitioner. Her expertise in pelvic floor and related issues was wonderfully helpful from beginning to end. Although I was initially anxious about starting PT, I cannot emphasize enough how positive and healing the experience was for me, with Mo as my coach and guide. Beyond the exceptional 1:1 experience, Cynergy provided such a friendly, welcoming, and efficient environment that always made me feel comfortable and cared for as a new client, a new mom, and someone new to physical therapy. There is no better place in NYC for physical therapy. The midtown east location is a large and new facility that is on the same floor as one of the world's top clinics for orthopedic surgeons. I went to Cynergy after having surgery on my arm. I had a bad fracture and they installed hardware which limited my mobility. I am a professional musician and it was critical that I be able to play again. Christine is the most gifted therapist there is and her knowledge, gentle touch and caring personality is truly amazing. After many months of therapy I am at a good place in my recovery and happily back at playing concerts again. I want to also thank the staff at the front desk. When you are in pain and scared of the medical system it is a important to have such professional and friendly people help you. They were always great. read more

As a primary care physician undergoing treatment for my knees, I would like to share that from the professional intake by Tamara at the front desk to the professional care by Ivan Mah (and his former trainee Luke) I was treated with the utmost care. Ivan Mah is skilled, personable, supportive and an outstanding teacher. As an avid bicyclist & hiker, I can attest that my treatments were well-presented with clear instructions and demonstrations. The unit is equipped with all the materials needed to hone in on individual needs. The treatments so far have resulted in a significantly greater comfort level with all of my physical activities. After each session I receive an email with written and video assignments to perform at home between sessions. read more

I went to Cynergy PT after a very acute overuse injury from running. The road to recovery is slow. My PT was Alexis Allmaier whom I highly recommend. Alexis is knowledgeable, professional, friendly and easy to talk to. She carefully evaluated my progress and running form, and designed a progressively escalating home exercise program focusing on different muscle groups to build strength and flexibility. This program (which she supplemented when PT ended) will be useful going forward as my initial injury may have resulted from a muscle imbalance. Cynergy is the best physical therapy practice. Period. Over the last 20 years, I have seen many physical therapists in New York and elsewhere for issues involving my back, hips, neck and shoulder. The standard approach of other physical therapists is to assign you a set of cookie cutter exercises that you perform while they work with other patients, checking back with you occasionally. The physical therapists at Cynergy provide individualized therapy tailored specifically to your needs. You feel the difference immediately. i can't say enough good things about Melissa Lam. Right as the lockdown started, I developed debilitating sciatica and could not even walk one block. I started Zoom sessions with Melissa a couple of times a week. She was incredibly patient, and was able to explain exercises/stretches and correct my position perfectly on Zoom as well as she could have if she had been present physically. Now I am completely recovered and continue to work with Melissa to prevent future injuries. Melissa helped me more than any Dr. did and I give her full credit for my recovery. I saw Melissa Lam over a year ago when I had a torn tendon in my foot. She was terrific and completely solved the problem. Unfortunately, I have been back again because of another problem: SI joint pain. She has been her usual attentive, caring, thoughtful and intelligent self in pursuit of a solution. I'm already feeling much better and she's gently pushing me to do my exercises at home to get back to 100%. The whole team at Cynergy is great. The staff at the desk could not be more helpful in working around my schedule even with last minute changes. I injured my hand in January and had my final appointment in December of 2017. In the intervening year, I received absolutely wonderful treatment at Cynergy Physical Therapy. Not only are the office staff professional, helpful and understanding, the physiotherapists are simply stellar. I occasionally worked with Erin who was really terrific but had the vast majority of my appointments with Christine. Her skill in bringing movement back to my thumb was matched only by her patience in explaining every part of the process and her unvaryingly sunny disposition. Cynergy's Christine Rodriguez is an extraordinary Occupational and Physical Therapist! I had a very bad shoulder break that involved extensive surgery including a metal plate with 9 screws to put my shoulder back together again. I was in enormous pain and was sent to Christine. She is very experienced and professional. She not only helped me regain function and the use of my shoulder but soothed my frayed nerves. She listened intently and then set about working on my shoulder giving me exercises to help me recover. I recommend Christine highly. Cynergy Physical Therapy is the best, with special shout outs to Melissa and Tamara. I have been going to Cynergy for almost 20 years, whenever an injury pops up, and they always sort me out. Melissa has been my therapist for over 10+ years and her balance of skill, patience, instruction and empathy is unmatched. She listens, she helps, she explains, she cares. I have had occupational therapy in several facilities before for my shoulders and arms. Visited the facility and i found the staff very friendly. The facility is quite new , clean and had private rooms ( which i love). The session was one-on-one . My OT was Christine Rodriguez . She targeted all the areas that needed attention, gave me exercises to do at home and relieved my arm and shoulder pains. Christine is very pleasant, knowledgeable and i felt very comfortable with her. Will definitely recommend her and this facility . Definitely 5 star service and facilities! read more

I had gone to Cynergy PT Midtown West before and this is the first time to Midtown East location. I needed treatment for my left knee from an ACL sprain. Alexis has done a very very good job in helping me recover. Over a period of 2 months, she was careful to review my case, set up various routines, and push me to the next level without being over stretched. My ankle has been painful for month. One visit with Cynthia G. at Cynergy's newest location on Manhattan's East side and I feel better already. I was so impressed by the new space. She has all the equipment necessary to help heal all sorts of injuries. However it's her passion for what she does and knowledge that makes the difference. Front desk was very quick and respectful who made schedueling quick and east. I worked with Nathan on an ankle injury over 8 weeks and have since recovered to 100%. As a college athlete (wrestling) I found Nathans approach very effective as he adjusted pain tolerance and workout intensity for me instead of taking it too easy. I also learned so much from the conversations we had about anatomy, exercise, and recovery which will without a doubt help me in my future as a college athlete. Overall a great experience. read more

My doctor recommended that I see Melissa Lam at Cynergy for physical therapy. We began with a personal visit to my home, followed by telehealth sessions on the computer. Now, I am going to her studio in Manhattan. I have been to therapists before, but Melissa is quite special. She does not offer boiler-plate exercises, but tailors to my needs.
