Looking for a great plastic surgeon? Look no further! Dr Goodman is truly incredible. I was referred to Dr Goodman by my previous plastic surgeon when he retired last year. I asked him why he shoes to recommend his patients to Dr Goodman. He said because she was extremely capable and cared deeply about her patients. Since then I have found this to be true. I went to Dr Goodman not knowing what to do...all I knew was that my face was drooping and looking in the mirror did not make me happy. While I wasn't thrilled at the prospect of a facelift I was open to anything. Dr Goodman was so open and honest about all my options and actually suggested that a facelift was not the best choice. Ultimately she recommended filler to smooth out my sags and wrinkles. The filler lasts about 18 months, is much more cost effective, non invasive and is a natural substance. I will tell you, the procedure took less than an hour. Dr Goodman did the procedure herself and was absolutely meticulous. The results are amazing and I could not be happier. Dr. Goodman performed a rather complex surgery which entailed breast implant removal and capsulectomy with abdominal liposuction transfer grafting. The nature of this surgery was very delicate, difficult and very sensitive. I have to say that I couldn't have picked a better qualified surgeon to do the job. She listened carefully to my wishes to do the surgery. She was sure on how she would proceed. She not only rushed me in in a timely manner (do to a implant rupture) but explain to me in detail what to expect and how to manage my at home recovery. Erin, (Dr. Goodman's) assistant filed all the extensive but necessary insurance paperwork for me which in doing so took quite a bit off my shoulders. I came to Dr Goodman for ear lobe reconstruction this morning, and she did an amazing job! Other plastic surgeons jacked up the price to 2-3x the amount quoted for the procedure for having to cut out more ear lobe than a typical stretched ear lobe from heavy jewelry (my ears were stretched to 1 1/2") but here they charge a fair, flat rate for the procedure. She made my ear lobes petite as they used to be, per my request. Now I just wish I didn't wait so many years! I had a million questions and was so nervous but they turned out fantastic. read more

But here goes..... How do you thank the person who saved you from the possibility of horrific disfigured future? Dr. Goodman reached down and rescued me from a very deep dark place and I'm eternally grateful. Last December and the beginning of this year I had two separate basal cell carcinoma surgeries on my face done by my dermatologist using Mohs micrographic surgery. First surgery left a deep 25 cent coin size hole in my left cheek. The second surgery left a deep hole bigger than a dime on my left nostril. My dermatologist is excellent in the craft of Mohs surgery however he is not skilled in reconstructive surgery. He was up front with me regarding this and his office manager recommended Dr. Goodman. After checking all the frightening sites with photos of Mohs surgery provided on the WWW , I decided I'd better make appointments with Dr Goodman after each Mohs procedure. Dr. Goodman is truly a confident, gifted and skilled plastic/reconstructive surgeon. My scars are not visible at all. If I didn't tell you about the holes in my face you would never ever know. My upper eyelids had always been asymmetrical. One side drooped a bit more than the other. Previously, I had learned to do my makeup differently to make them look more symmetrical. As I got older the one side started to noticeable droop significantly more than the other. But I was extremely hesitant with surgery - I have seen the scary pulled-tight skin around the eyes. So instead, I tried botox, fillers, tape, and whatever else was recommended. Nothing worked. My eyes still looked wonky. I'm a breast cancer patient who was referred to Dr. Goodman through my oncologist. I should say she was on a list of plastic surgeons. I did my research and she had the best online reviews. I don't particularly trust online reviews regarding doctors but I had nothing else to go on. She is truly amazing. I just had surgery a week ago and I only have expanders in but my breasts already look great. She was able to save my nipples and my nurses at Marin General kept asking to see my nipples because they looked so perfect. I feel fortunate to have found Dr. Goodman for my reconstructive surgery. I am a breast cancer patient who required a double mastectomy and lymph node testing on both sides (in the arm pits). Dr. Goodman assisted my cancer surgeon with the removal of both of my breasts. This was a complex and long surgery due to my many past breast biopsies. She also assisted him with the lymph node biopsy site closure and then she took over for my reconstruction procedure using tissue expanders and Allermax grafts. I have thus had extensive surgery by Dr. Goodman and have put her skills and her office staff to the test. Her work is impeccable. I am in the midst of the repair process and every day I see the transformation from heart breaking disfigurement to what is becoming a beautiful and normal appearing chest and decollette. In fact, I may actually end up with a better looking chest than before my cancer surgery, which is nothing short of a miracle. When I received my cancer diagnosis I was devastated, I researched reconstructive breast surgeons in the North Bay and decided she was the best fit for the type of repair that I wanted. I also asked other physicians and plastic surgery offices about her and her reputation among her colleagues is excellent. Her before and after photos of breast cancer reconstruction were also the best I had seen anywhere, and again my research was extensive. Her initial evaluation was thorough, she presented the options and pros/cons clearly, she was realistic and also willing to try to overcome some unique limitation with my original breast anatomy that another plastic surgeon had no ideas for, her staff are friendly and competent and the service I receive in her office is excellent and efficient. I know that I have received state-of-the-art reconstruction, again because I have done a lot of reading on the subject. Dr. Goodman has a down-to-business bedside manner yet she has been available for my worried post op telephone questions when I am concerned. In addition, I expected the post op filling of my expanders to be painful and it has not. In short, I highly recommend her as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. I went to Dr. Goodman right before Thanksgiving in 2010, for reconstruction after Moh's surgery for squamous cell carcinoma above my lip. She was thorough, calm, educated on the process, and best - prepared me for the surgery and post op. Because of the location of the skin cancer, I couldn't have a skin graft, and was worried about the appearance of my face, mouth, etc Dr. Goodman was referred to me by another plastic surgeon and I couldn't be happier to have had her. The surgery was a 3 hr procedure in the hospital; and at no time were questions unanswered, was I worred, nor unprepared for the recuperation. Now, 6 months later, I have no visible scar, have my smile back (!) and happily shop for lip gloss, something I knew might be a change. I look great - by everyone's standards...and I would and have recommended Dr. Goodman to anyone. I also had my right hand trigger finger done by her in March of 2011. Again, it was a thoughtfully done procedure, with minimal down time. Just finished my hand therapy and again, the scar is minimal and function is just about perfect. This is a small office with Erin at the front desk, and appts are on time, and phone calls promptly returned. In September I had eyelid surgery and a brow lift. Dr. Cynthia's office staff was always very professional and kind. I never had a problem getting an appointment before or after my surgery. I went to Dr. Goodman last month when I was looking for a plastic surgeon to handle reconstruction following a mastectomy. Dr. Goodman came highly recommended by another physician--and now I understand why. Dr. Goodman spent over an hour with me during an initial consultation and spent a good deal of time with me when I returned for a follow-up (with a long list of questions) as well. By the time surgery day arrived, I felt well-informed and confident in my choices, as I felt confident I'd made the best plastic surgeon selection. Dr. Goodman brings flawless attention to detail to the table: something I want in my plastic surgeon! Dr. Goodman placed a tissue expander in me as part of my mastectomy surgery. After just a couple of "fills" to the expander, I went straight home, stood in front of the mirror, and couldn't believe how good my breast looked! Now, exactly one month post-surgery, the incision couldn't look better...the tiniest stitching you can imagine, resulting in a very fine line. One side note. Some refer to Dr. Goodman's personality/manner. I would describe Dr. Goodman as a pragmatist--absolutely focused on her art and delivering the best results possible. While she's not naturally warm and chatty, she has always spent the time necessary to answer all of my questions--in a very direct manner (appreciated on my part)--as she's engaged with me when I've initiated. Dr. Goodman's focus and intensity should not be misconstrued as disinterest or rudeness. Also worthy to mention is that Dr. Goodman's office manager, Erin, is incredibly efficient, warm and helpful. She has her finger on the pulse and has always been friendly, responsive, and able to answer all my questions. I'll update this post when my reconstruction is fully complete following chemotherapy. Meanwhile I can't recommend Dr. Goodman highly enough! ***Update: I'm terribly slow with this update, but not for any concern. Dr. Goodman completed my breast reconstruction following mastectomy in the fall of 2011. A year later, I can report I had absolutely no issues following surgery and am very happy with the cosmetic results. This is the one year anniversary of what other doctors have told me should have been a minor surgery. But Dr. Goodman did what could have been a "in office procedure" in a hospital. After following all the post surgery instructions, my wound became a 2 X 3 hole in the leg. When I asked Dr. Goodman who to go to for the wound, she responded, "I don't Know". She said if it was plastic surgery she would know but since it wasn't . . she just didn't know. I did find help, it took from the end of August until the first of November to heal. I went to Cynthia to get a cyst removed last year and she did a great job. I had previously had it done by a general doctor and it left a bad scar and returned so I decided to go to a plastic surgeon the second time around. She's young and very accomplished and although she may not be overly friendly (what surgeon is?), but she's very nice and did great work. She really made an effort to keep the scarring down and it paid off. I would stay away from Dr. Cynthia Goodman - plastic surgeon. I went to see her yesterday because I have a hematoma on my face which hasn't resolved 5 weeks from a bad fall, and I wanted advice. Granted - this visit wasn't going to be a big money maker for her, but she did agree to see me and I waited two weeks for the privilege. The first think she did really made me uncomfortable and mad. I showed her pix of my face and the swelling/hematoma right after my accident so that she could compare that with my current appearance. She started arguing with me about what side of my face the injury was on: "your pictures show your injury on the left hand side of your face, but here it's on your right side". Apparently she didn't realize that taking a picture reverses the image, and appeared to think I didn't know what side my injury was on (?!) Very weird! Then....she tells me that the swelling may never go down and my face might scar. I asked her what could be done about this - and she said "nothing". When I pressed her on this she said that she could build up the other side of my face to create symmetry. She seemed really annoyed with me and my questions and finished our consult in less than 5 minutes. When I asked when I should come back for a follow-up - she said: "3 months, no - make it 6". Let's make it never! She was hostile, unsympathetic and unhelpful. I'm willing to hear bad news, but she delivered it in an unkind, brusque and annoyed manner. read more

She radiates competence and confidence, which is so important when going under the knife. This was my first elective surgery for something cosmetic. Even though it is considered a very simple procedure I still feel that having the confidence in one's surgeon is of the utmost importance. I was having my eyelids done. Thus, I did my due diligence and researched Dr Hom prior to the actual operation. However, when I was sitting in the chair waiting to be wheeled into the the operating room, I asked the nurse if she was familiar with Dr. Hom's work. She said she was and she said that Dr. Hom was meticulous in her stitching one's eyelids up. She said she was very impressed with her work. That is all I had to hear! It gave me the confidence that all would be well. And it was. Dr. Hom attended to all my needs and concerns and even called me a couple of days later to see that all was well. All in all, I give her a thumbs up and encourage anyone considering to do this surgery to do so. It is SO worth it! read more

Very upset with ths office. After a night in MGH with broken and dislocated fingers I made follow up appt with ths office for 5 days out as instructed by emergency doctor. Was not asked who my insurance carrier is and upon arrival told they don't take our insurance. Can't get in with anther doctor unil next week. Why ddn't she ask this when I called ???? So so stressful. Had she checked I would have had an appointment in time with anther doctor. I had to get someone to drive me too :( read more

I had a hair implant procedure with Dr Goodman a few years ago and I've finally decided to comment on the process. Dr. Goodman and her staff were polite, professional and expeditious prior to and during the procedure, however several weeks after the operation it was clear my hair loss situation had not improved. Furthermore, upon discussing the results with Dr. Goodman, she suggested the failure was due to my "picking" at the grafts which prevented them from taking, or growing. I did mention to her that several of them had fallen out while sleeping as well as showering, however the number was less than ten. Considering the fact hundreds of grafts were utilized, I find it hard to conceive that less than ten would have any significance in the final outcome. For Dr Goodman to infer that it was my fault the procedure was a failure was insulting and clearly established she did not want to accept any responsibility for the poor results. She did however offer to attempt the procedure once again at a discounted but still expensive price. After spending thousands of dollars on a botched first attempt, I certainly wasn't going to put forth thousands more for an expected similar result. To this day, several years later, my hair is no better than it was prior to my visiting Dr Goodman. An overall poor and disappointing experience. read more

Cynthia Goodman really is as good as it gets. I got my breast augmentation with Dr. Goodman on 4/28/2016 --it was my first surgery and Dr. Goodman not only walked me through the process, but made herself available on and off her business hours. She has continually been available post-op, and worked with us to make it more affordable (she went above and beyond and cut the cost down almost $2,000). She truly is an artist--she made my breasts look identical to my wish pictures and for my first surgery, it was was relatively easy. My pain was manageable and virtually pretty easy (never went above a 5 on the pain scale and maintained a 4 throughout). All those horror stories about the pain with breast augmentations were a fluke, in my experience. I feel so blessed to have chosen a doctor--people I know who have gone to doctors for twice the price I paid seem to re-think their choice in doctor! read more

I sustained a serious facial injury a torn lip on a Friday this summer (2013)and the emergency room I went to said I needed a plastic surgeon and there was not a plastic surgeon at that emergency room. The emergency room M.D. said that it was unlikely that I would ever have a normal lip as it appeared the tear had severed my lip leaving a large "v' notch. I was horrified. However the M.D. and his nurse started working the telephones and found Cynthia Goodman M.D. As it turned out Dr. Goodman was able to perform surgery that day in Marin County on short notice and without an appointment. Dr. Goodman spoke with the emergency room M.D. and told him to send me to her right away. I noted as she began the surgery procedure Dr. Goodman had a keen sense of detail, and was very organized with a sense of direct purpose and noted her movements were precise as she went to work. I could tell she knew exactly what she was doing and knew I was in good hands. As I look at "where the injury used to be" I marvel at the skill in putting a lip back together that at one point looked hopeless. Dr. Goodman told me me she would do the procedure in a way that could result in markedly less scaring. Her skill and choice in method of procedure has resulted in my lip being restored to normal and three months after the procedure at this time no visible scar unless I point it out there is only a slight blemish. Dr. Goodman had provided after care and advise on how to help that heal up. When my lip was torn completely through with a huge "v" notch I has horrified first that I would not be able to kiss my girlfriend like I do and next as a trial attorney who is in public view all the time how a maimed lip would affect things.
