I wish I had done more research. She also does not communicate with her patients when they should remove bandages, when they can shower after surgery, give you any tips for preventing scarring or any post surgery care that normal surgeons would communicate to their patients. It's very strange. You are just expected to read their 100 page pamphlet and figure it out for yourself. If you are unhappy with your results, she gets very defensive and will make you pay for a follow up surgery to fix her mistakes. But she still doesn't fix them. Find another plastic surgeon.

Unfortunately, they did not tell me I needed a preauthorization, nor did they fill the form out to request preauthorization so I was completely screwed over. I had requested a reduction to a B cup size -- that was not the case as I have been comfortably fitting in a D sized bra. I did give it a year post-op to be sure that it wasn't swelling and sure enough it was not. My nipples are totally botched, it looks like the bottom part of my right breast is completely missing part of the areola. The scarring I have is absolutely horrendous, and my breasts are uneven. For the amount of money paid to receive quality care I would expect to be happy with the outcome, but if you can do research and find a better plastic surgeon, PLEASE DO.

I called them, I was in their "clinic" 4 separate times - they visually say this wound. Their response was non- emergent. I am now day 3 in hospital. Day 3 of continuous antibiotics- due to this unsafe - in surgery practices. Lift and 100 cc does not look like this and now with the fluid gone they are sagging and implants infected. They will be removed in a few hours and I will have to start again with my desired lift in a year after reconstruction and recovery. Again no apology's, no email, no calls. I asked him why he shoes to recommend his patients to Dr Goodman. He said because she was extremely capable and cared deeply about her patients. Since then I have found this to be true. I went to Dr Goodman not knowing what to do...all I knew was that my face was drooping and looking in the mirror did not make me happy. While I wasn't thrilled at the prospect of a facelift I was open to anything. Dr Goodman was so open and honest about all my options and actually suggested that a facelift was not the best choice. Ultimately she recommended filler to smooth out my sags and wrinkles. The filler lasts about 18 months, is much more cost effective, non invasive and is a natural substance. I will tell you, the procedure took less than an hour. Dr Goodman did the procedure herself and was absolutely meticulous. The results are amazing and I could not be happier. Honestly I would give 10 stars if I could!! Both for Dr. Hvistendahl himself, as well as for the whole experience and group of people I worked with. A friend recommended Dr. Hvistendahl for my breast augmentation, since she had just gone to him and thought he was amazing. So I looked him up, did a lot of research, read reviews, etc. and decided to schedule a consultation. And imagine my pleasant surprise when I found PSS was doing a special study (related to placement of a numbing shot, or something along those lines), and if you participated you got $2000 off. From the very beginning I was impressed. First I talked to Renee to schedule and talk about pricing, etc. Great communication, extremely helpful, very friendly. Holly, who I met when I got there, was amazing as well. Very nice, friendly, and made me feel very comfortable and well-informed through the entire process. She was there with me at my consultation, post-op, and actual surgery day. Helped me feel more comfortable having someone I recognized there with me...especially on surgery morning! Everyone else was great too...my surgery nurse, the front desk ladies, etc. As to the actual office. It has a fancy spa type feel. Only one time have I had someone else waiting there in the waiting room at the same time as me. And it's not for lack of clients...I know that they are a very busy practice. I took in a picture of what I wanted, thinking that it would be hard to match exactly....but pleasant surprise....he really did match the picture almost exactly!!! Very VERY skilled doctor. My scars are also tiny and very well hidden. :) One thing that especially impressed me was how after the surgery they don't just "drop" you since you're paid and done. Amazing and thorough post-op attention. I had accidently given a wrong phone number, so didn't get calls after the surgery. I thought maybe no one would think anything of it because they have surgeries every week. But my first post-op appointment the first thing the Dr. asked was what number they had, because it was definitely wrong! I guess him and Holly had called several times and were worried since they couldn't get ahold of me. I was very impressed how they really cared. Like I said earlier, not just a faceless person in a crowd of patients. For any procedures, without a doubt I would go here again. I highly recommend Dr. Hvistendahl and Plastic Surgery Specialists! My concerns began on the day of surgery. I waited more than two hours at the surgery center before my procedure. The staff member assigned to place my IV was unable to do so successfully, and a manager ultimately had to be called in. This increased my anxiety significantly right before surgery. To make matters worse, when I was escorted to the restroom before surgery, I exited to find no staff present. I was left standing alone in a cold hallway wearing only my surgical gown, which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. Unfortunately, my postoperative experience was far worse. After surgery, I developed a significant seroma. Rather than placing a drain, Dr. Rankin repeatedly managed the fluid buildup by manually expressing fluid from my breast during office visits. At the first visit alone, approximately 100 cc of fluid was removed. This process was repeated multiple times over several months and was physically uncomfortable, emotionally distressing, and, at times, humiliating. Most importantly, the prolonged seroma ultimately affected my surgical outcome. The swelling and fluid buildup distorted my scar revision and altered my inframammary fold, leaving my breast visibly misshapen. In addition, the fat grafting on the affected side did not take well, which I believe was related to the ongoing complications. What was most upsetting throughout this experience was how my concerns were handled. Whenever I asked questions or expressed worries, I felt dismissed rather than heard. My interactions with Dr. Rankin often felt condescending and paternalistic, and I did not feel treated with the respect, empathy, or partnership that patients deserve when facing significant surgical complications. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Rankin or NorCal Plastic Surgery.
