Long past his prime! Dr Aycock is no longer competent. I had a breast augmentation two years ago, to replace the implants from the my first augmentation 20 years prior with an excellent plastic surgeon that retired. I thought, I was in good "hands" with Dr. Aycock. Two days post op, I was back in surgery because of a blood vessel that was nicked causing additional swelling and literally a dark black hematoma down my left arm and left breast, he asked me what I did I do?? That afternoon I was back in surgery (additional expenses for the facility fees & anesthesia costs). Then his patient coordinator Linda asked me for my insurance info to get the doc some money for his time, which by the way is not kosher...insurance doesn't cover cosmetic procedures. In the end of all this, I came out with my left breast square shaped and when I was in for post op, he assured me it will settle, but needed to wait up to a year for final results. The inframmary fold under the breast pocket was compromised during the surgery, leaving me with a deformed looking breast. 15 months later I scheduled a visit to see the doctor, to show him his final results, he said it wasn't his fault and if I want to have it fixed it will cost me!!! I left the office, sat in disbelief. He is the most arrogant doctor and unprofessional Dr I've met! I'm currently consulting with others surgeons to repair the problem. I had breast augmentation with Dr. Aycock about ten years ago. I am high-waisted, and he measured from the neck down instead of taking the entire chest measurement into account. As a result, my breasts are very low on my chest. When I pointed this out, he said it's because I'm pear-shaped, and he refused to correct it. So he insulted me as well as made the problem my fault! Dr. Aycock performed a pretty detailed and lengthy (6 + hours) breast reduction on me a few days ago. I'm still in the healing stages (obviously), and I don't think Dr. Aycock's care will have anything to do with it should a complication materialize; he's done everything possible to ensure a successful outcome. I recommend Dr. Aycock and his whole staff because he is and they are approachable and engaging, knowledgeable, caring and ready to help. The offices are clean and peaceful; not your typical doctors office ambiance. It's clinical and professional, as it should be, but the feel is warm and welcoming. Dr. Aycock is extremely talented and confident; he answers any question without hesitation and ensures the patient understands the answer - this I find most comforting. He also doesn't treat your body like it doesn't have nerve endings, as so many others do. Dr. Aycock's pre-op routine is intensive and very informative and any confusion is cleared at once. His post-op care is amazing. He is available and welcomes calls and visits at most any time -- something my regular G.P. does not do and is sometimes simply unavailable. I highly recommend using Dr. Aycock for those special issues your G.P. cannot/does not handle. read more

I recently decided to pursue laser-lipo and as a male, the physicians who were experienced with the service were limited. I agree with the sentiment of other reviewers for Dr. Aycock, his personality was a major consideration in my selection of his office. The preparation prior to the procedure as well as the post-surgical care has been exceptional. I feel that Dr. Aycock and his staff are extremely supportive and generous with what has been necessary to ensure ideal results. I had my abdominal area worked on, which included the lower abs and the right & left flanks. The results included a reduction in waist size and a smoothing out of the "love-handle" zones. Regarding other negative reviews, plastic or cosmetic surgery is not like having a cavity filled. An individual patients response to a procedure is influenced my many factors and once a procedure has been performed, the emphasis is placed on the patient to follow the instructions provided to them to ensure ideal results. Failure to follow instructions will negatively impact results. Before deciding to pursue any type of elective surgery, due diligence should be done on the part of the consumer to be fully aware of what is involved in your particular type of procedure. read more

I can tell you this is a genuine review. I am not so sure about the other 5 stars. I would give less if possible. I got a tummy tuck from Dr Aycock after having my twins and it looked like something Freddy Krueger would do! I had a ton of excess skin but very flat ab muscles, so I thought it would be pretty straightforward as he indicated. He does not really have a warm bedside manner and does seem rather dismissive, but I trusted that he was professional and qualified. Do not judge a business by location, exterior looks, staff, etc like I did. Ultimately, it's that ONE surgeon who will determine the aftermath of what your body look like. Everything relies on their skill and ability. Of course, the procedure was highly expensive and I'm still paying for it. I am so embarrassed and horrified by the end result-the scar is in the shape of a wide W across my pelvic area and my new belly button is completely off center and very abnormal looking. I wish I just stayed with my loose skin and never came to him. After going to other professional surgeons regarding fixing this, they all responded that it looked botched and poorly done. I've never been so uncomfortable in a doctor's office in my life. From the moment i entered he made me feel like i was taking up his precious time, even though his office asked me if we could move my appointment forward one hour and i agreed. The first thing he said was "So you got your lips done somewhere else? Why are you coming here then?" I felt vaguely accused, and sort of surprised to be challenged like that (I'd assumed he'd be happy for my business), so I stuttered an answer: "I um - I saw you online and I um, I thought you looked like a place I wanted to go,," He looked at my paperwork and said "It says here you're allergic to epinephrine. What happens?" I answered "My heart starts racing extremely fast". He sort of gave an annoyed laugh and said "Everyone's heart races fast on epinephrine, doesn't mean you're allergic". I've been allergic to it for years, it's in my paperwork at Kaiser. I'm allergic. Why was he challenging me? Did he think I just... made it up or something? I was already annoyed but now I was offended. "It goes really, really fast and doesn't slow down. I could die." I said flatly. He changed the subject and asked me what I wanted, and I said I was thinking about dermal fillers in my laugh lines, and botox. "What about your eyes? That's the first thing I saw. Your eyes always this puffy or you have allergies Are they always puffy and bagged like this?" I was honestly speechless. He had the bedside manner of Triumph the Comic Insult Dog, except I wasn't laughing. Still, I'd come here to get fillers and maybe botox, I'd gotten on the freeway (which I hate) and I'd really been looking forward to it. I asked if he used a numbing cream to put on the skin before he did the botox, and he said yes, and I asked what it contained (since I didn't trust him to mention if it had epinephrine because apparently my allergy was all in my mind), and he rattled of three different anesthetics, two of which I hadn't had before. I started to ask him about one of the drugs, and he turned around and he had the anesthetic cream on a wooden spatula. "So you want the botox right?" he said as he came at me with the cream. "No-", I started to reply, and he looked exasperated I'd wanted it actually but I'd just wanted to ask him a question about the medication. He put the spatula down and sighed, and I decided it was time for me to go. The whole time he made me feel like I was a bug and he was looking at me under a magnifying glass. I felt no respect, no empathy, no real interest in my goals for my face... and he quoted me a price for botox which was double what I was quoted elsewhere. Sure if you have expertise you can charge a bit more, but double? At this point all I wanted was to leave. I made up an excuse and he seemed puzzled as to why I was leaving. I left and sat in my car for a moment before starting it up. Had that really just happened? I contrasted it with my experience at another drs office the previous week when I'd gotten lip fillers - I was spoken to warmly, not made to feel I was ugly for the things on my face I wanted to fix, not made to feel like I was wasting anyone's time or my medical issues weren't real. I told the dr at that office about my allergy and she assured me there was no epinephrine in her anesthetic and told me "But if you feel funny we'll wipe it off anyway." I felt cared for and sure that if something did happen I'd be in good hands - and they were almost half the price of Dr. Aycock. Just goes to show that paying more doesnt always get you better quality... or class. read more

Dr Aycock is amazing - his "bed side manner" is the best in the business and compared to every other doctor i have encountered - pediatricians to ophthalmologist - he is the kindest MD I have ever met. I wish he could be my doctor for everything or at least give some compassionate lessons to some of my existing doctors! He cares, listens and has his patients' best interests at heart at all times. His entire staff - especially Linda - is welcoming, genuine and they make you feel comfortable and at ease. He is very knowledgeable and a extremely skilled plastic surgeon. Buyer beware. Aycock puts on a good sales pitch, tells you your going to look fantastic, pats you on the back, and then, not only fails to do a good job but neglects to tell you about all the possible things that could go wrong. His disclaimers are very vague. I had a lift and laser. I haven't been able to lay my head on a pillow without pain for months, nor can I lay on my side because of ear pain. Actually, my head hurts all the time. Also, I have several bald spots that will not grow back because there are no follicles due to his misplaced incisions. Now I can never wear my hair up or back. After my several request for resolution he became a different person than the one I met before surgery. He is very condescending and above reproach. His post op care is horrible, he just wants to get you in and then forget about you. He does not like to be challenged. He never offered any help or remedy. Also, his Botox injections didn't work and had to be redone 2 more times. And, my neck is already starting to sag again. I don't know what I'm going to do because this experience has been so draining. I suppose seeking compensation to have another Dr. repair his mistakes is my only option. If, in fact, they can be repaired. I should have read all the Yelps before I chose him. My bad. Somehow or another many of the bad Yelps have been filtered. We'll will see where this ends up. After my initial consultation I knew that he had listened to me and understood exactly the result I was looking for. His office is extremely well organized and professional. I was even given a tour of the surgery center which made me feel much less nervous since he has a first rate facility which is completely outfitted with everything you would find at a major hospital. Hello. While Robert G. Aycock is certainly a well-practiced and knowledgeable cosmetic surgeon, there is one thing about his practice which I will never understand. Why, I constantly ask myself, would such a wise and tasteful gentleman bother including his middle initial.. The dreaded "G". As a boy growing up, I am sure having the word "cock" in his last name was difficult enough. This being said, why make it even worse by including his middle initial, in his professional title, searing my mind with the word "GAYCOCK" every time I drive past his business. I have tried emailing him and questioning his reasoning for the inclusion of this "G", but he did not respond, leaving me to forever ponder what was going on in his funny little G. He has a formula for placement instead of looks at the individual body, and my breasts were too low and separate from each other. He refused to do them over unless I paid the full price again. Methink not is an understatement. i loved my technician laura, but the entire office was unprofessional. they forgot to take my "before" photos, and then when they mailed me the "after" shots they lost my before shots so i have no idea if any progress was made?!?! during my 5 sessions, dr. aycock WALKED in during the sessions twice without even knocking, as did an office mgr. On August 2nd, 2010 I had the pleasure of Dr. G. Aycock performing my breast reduction. First let me tell you that I interviewed three plastic surgeons. From the moment I stepped into his office to the present I know I made the right choice. From the pre-op first visit, the meeting with his assistant, right up to this minute I am still smiling. He told me on my first meeting with him that he was going to change my life. Well he did. My cousin who was in medicine for years calls me everyday and asks, "well, is today your bad day?" and "do you feel the pain yet?" the answers to those questions are, I never had a bad day and I have no pain. Today is day 9 after surgery and I am looking forward to my appointment tomorrow to see Dr. Aycock and his lovely staff. His assistant, Linda and I had the best connection from minute one in her office. We were laughing like little school girls when he came in. I love her! If it hadnt been for Linda, working diligently with my insurance company, this dream would have never happened for me. The day after surgery, Dr. Aycock took my drains out and three days after surgery he removed my pain pumps, I never felt either! I had a breast reduction/breast lift (and laser lipo) with Dr Aycock, and I can honestly say that i know i chose the best plastic surgeon in the greater Bay Area. I'm living proof. I am a 52-year old mother and advertising professional -- and before I walked into his office, I did a lot of research. I ended up with Dr. Aycock because of his (and his staff's) experience, professionalism and warmth. I am not exaggerating when I say that these procedures -- while certainly not painless or inexpensive or simple -- absolutely increased my confidence and changed my life for the better. I waited until I was 50 to do my "work", but from now, if I ever consider plastic surgery in the future, I would never change doctors. Not only is Dr. Aycock of the highest caliber, he is a perfectionist and an artisan. My breasts went from uneven and sagging to high and perfectly even, without silicone -- and the scarring was minimal. The laser lipo he did on me removed several pounds of fat cells from my stomach, rear and thighs and they are still slim and firm today. (I have just remarried and I give Dr. Aycock a little bit of the credit for giving me back the body I started out with.) There are no miracles but there is a lot to be said for the right doctor. It's true that the terms "liposuction" and "breast reduction" are scary, but if you are willing to move forward with the decision to do them, and not smoke cigarettes during your recovery (this is crucial to prevent scarring) and if you do your homework, the results are just amazing. read more

I am a retired plastic surgeon myself so needless to say I did my "homework" before selecting a plastic surgeon to operate on me! I initially was interested in lasering of the face and a chin implant along with eyelid surgery. My research led me to Dr. Aycock even though I live in Phoenix. (Well, Marin County is a short plane ride away and it is MY FACE we're talking about.) I was very happy with the results of surgery and very pleased both with Dr. Aycock and his staff. Everyone was very professional and helpful in arranging surgery and recovery for an out-of-town patient. I was so pleased in fact, that I went back to have liposuction on my neck, abdomen, flanks and thighs. Again I was just so pleased with the results. Now I am happy to be seen in a bathing suit since that is what we live in here in Phoenix in the Summer! I have just gone back for another facial lasering as Dr. Aycock recommends it once a year and he is one of the country's laser experts. Yes, it is a long way to go for lasering but he does a deep lasering on me that could lead to scarring in some doctor's hands. I have checked out Dr. Aycock's training and he is a REAL plastic surgeon-- not a gynecologist or dermatologist who did a weekend laser course! (And believe me, there are tons of doctors out there calling themselves "plastic" or "cosmetic" surgeons who have not really put in the time to train like Dr. Aycock has.) I referred a friend from New York who went to see Dr. Aycock and had him do a facelift and eyes on her. She was also very pleased with the result and how she was treated. I got a nose job in 2010 and Dr. Acock certainly did a number on my face. I wanted my nose to be slightly smaller and to take care of a slight hump. $10,000 later and what used to be a straight fuctional nose now has a beautiful and very NOTICABLE S curve down the front of my face and I can't breathe at night. Some cartilage was taken from my septum to do a spreader graft of my sinuses. Too much was taken which weakened by septum to the point where it bent. Certainly didn't help that he forgot to tell/teach me to splint my nose after surgery. He seemed to care less and only comment about it was to look in my nose and say "oh what's that doing way over there?" and say "well the profile view is nice". After bringing in some lovely "before" and "after" photos I put together to put on the table in the waiting room showing my newly mangled nose- he offered to do another surgery to harvest cartilage from my ear but warned that it would be put on what I call my "good side" aka the only nostril I can breathe out of and that it would make my ability to breathe even worse. So I came in with a slightly larger nose and would leave with a mangled ear and a completely occluded nose and have to walk around with my mouth hanging open the rest of my life? No thanks. So, I now have had multiple sinus infections and photoshop my nose straight in every picture I post on Facebook. Funny how they took a "before" picture before the surgery but never offered an "after". Guess they like to sweep the mistakes under the table. Problem is that I live with his mistake every day and not a day goes by that I don't look in the mirror and regret my choice to go to Dr. Acock. A little side note- they chipped my front tooth when they intubated me and I left surgery with strep throat. 'm now 26 and need to come up with an estimated $20,000 to go to a real professional to have it fixed. All the Dr.'s I've seen after we're completely shocked at the state of my nose and thought it was Acock's first attempt at a nose job- unfortunately not. The two most important words here are STAY AWAY! Dr. Aycock proved himself to be surgically incompetent to my dismay. He encouraged me to have multiple surgical procedures at once and I ended up looking OLDER and feeling scarred and self-conscious. He really lacks talent, using old school techniques that made me look older v. younger. He left me with scars that are not only large but inelegantly sutured, both on my eye lids and my breasts. After surgery, he reverts to unprofessional bedside manner. As I healed I saw major flaws and when I asked how they could be fixed he rolled his eyes, made exasperated noises and scoffed, saying it isn't that bad. I will now have to go to another surgeon to hope for revisions to his bad work since I wouldn't trust him to touch me again. This was so surprising given the before and after photos he shows and his staff's encouragement. But the high turnover in staff now makes me wonder. Bottom line, don't let him near you. read more

If you like torture and bad service, then this is the place for you. Last year I purchased a package deal to get facial laser skin resurfacing. The procedure was extremely painful, and I had to stop midway to take additional pain pills. I would have endured the pain and awful follow-up if I had seen a great improvement, but I hardly noticed anything. Before getting my second treatment, I asked for before and after pictures. I was very unsure of the results and nervous about being tortured again. I called many times, but they kept forgetting to get them. I finally secured an appointment and after waiting a 1/2 hour in the waiting room (after coming in earlier at their request), I was given a book of other patients' photos! They told me that they misunderstood my request. They then showed me black and white grainy before photos of my skin. Obviously, this did not help me decide if the treatment had had any effect. I then requested my money back. However, since it was a package deal, they doubled the price of the initial treatment, and I got no money back. To tell you the truth, I was happy to be rid of them. Please Ladies beware of Dr Robert Aycock. He has an office in Walnut Creek and Greenbrae california. I am recently seeing my primary care Dr because I got an infection from a breast implant surgery that he performed on me in his Greenbrae office. Originally I was going to him to go one size bigger, after that surgery he left me with a permanant wrinkle in my right breast. His suggestion to fix it was to have ANOTHER surgery to replace those implants with silicon. After that sugery I got an infection in the right breast which put me in the emergency room. When I got out of the hospital I went to see Dr Aycock. He said he would have to charge me to remove the implant. I didnt get any sympathy from him or his staff. I ended up leaving upset and confused and went to Kaiser were I found a caring & compassionate doctor to help me. It was a horrible thing to go through and I have so much more to say but have to make this short and to the point. This doctor only cares about making money and he wont be there for you afterwards if something goes wrong. Please try a different plastic surgeon who has not had any prior patients with infections or wrinkles from an underfilled implant ect. read more
