I needed to extend my lease 2 months while waiting to close on my house. Tonti Property Corporate office management had no compassion and raised my rent approx. $400 more for those 2 months. This was a 50% increase from what I was paying monthly for my one bedroom apartment. Absurd!!! My friend who lived in Botanica apartments across the highway was only charged $100 more a month to go month to month. That's reasonable. I would have never moved here if I would have known this prior to signing my lease. When I reached out to corporate office, their reply was that's why we gave you options for a lease renewal 60 days out. I find it unreasonable. I suppose I could have lived in my car while waiting for the closing on my house. The office staff on site was nice and very compassionate. I could tell their hands were tied by corporate office. I moved out in September, and its December as I write this review. It still makes me tear up to relive the financial burden they put on me. Those 2 months soured anything positive I would have written on this complex. If you live in the back right of complex, there are apartments on both sides of street. Parking is not adequate. If you are a foreigner made sure you stay away from this apt complex or the Maneger will completely ruin your credit score , they scammed ppl who don't speak English properly and made them pay more then $3000 just for canceling two bed two they waiting on they never even Sign anything or move in!!! The Maneger treat ppl like shiiii and their apartment caught on fire and rebuilt one whole unit and lied about it and SOME OF THE NORTH SHORE CHURCHES ARE FILLING LAWSUITS AGAINST THEM AS WE SPEAK! My mom lived at cypress lakes for about a year or two give or take. I rescued a dog and was trying to rent an apartment there. I was skeptical because i was told i need to put a deposit down to see if i would even be approved, Months go by haven't heard from anyone about the situation. I was not told if i was approved or denied, In the meantime i found another apartment. I asked for my deposit back and was told they could not give it back due to submitting an application even though i was not approved nor denied. When i told the leasing agent i was nervous as a first time renting an apartment she assured me i could get my deposit back if anything goes wrong. I ended up getting corporates number and called, when the leasing ladies found out they hurried to give me my deposit back. This place is horrible, run down and overpriced!!! They will try and take any and all of your money. Don't recommend!! read more

Terrible maintenance was very slow took forever to fix anything for how small and average these apartments look the price is high

I currently live at cypress lake apartments and we just started the summer and it is 88 degrees form 3pm-10:30 pm in the apartment. I am on the fourth time getting Maintenence to stop by and try to remedy the issue. They have been nice and trying to help with the situation. But nothing is coming from it. Was told that a portable unit will be coming as they don't know what to do to help. I can only imagine what the apartment electricity bill will be at this rate. They offer no help with this. They need to take a serious look at this. I am only renting temporarily as I moved from out of state. This was a very bad decision. The apartment is very old with very little done to insulate the property. If you want to rent a decent place get a newer apartment and pay the extra for the comforts of a first world country not a third. I wouldn't complain as much and would just get finished with the lease but I have two young kids staying with me and a dog. read more

The "Great" reviews you been reading of these apartments are either from new tenets who just moved in and management hasn't shown their true colors to yet, or when management isn't busy they're hitting up Yelp with their friends as well themselves writing good reviews of these apartments. I know as a fact because I happen to be good friends with two of its former Managers that corporate fired along with the other dozen of managers - if they get many good reviews they get promotions, pay raises, and awards. So yeah, be weary of good reviews because everyone I know that lives here are dissatisfied and can't wait to move out. First and foremost, don't believe all their bullish-t. They say anything to get you to sign the lease. Apartments units aren't "updated" as they say -- unless you consider a fresh coat of paint and MAYBE newly laid carpet as updated. As of the moment I write this, they have ONLY one guy doing maintenance work. Although he's nice and courteous, but considering the repairs theses buildings are in desperate need of. I honestly don't think he's skilled enough to do them. And while we're on the subject of repairs, I STRONGLY advise you to document what repairs are needed for your apartment and when you informed them of such needed repairs. I've learnt the hard way when there were a couple things needed to be repaired and although I sent work order requests in multiple times, they never showed up to do them. Then finally when the repairs became bigger and more costly to them. They falsely cited I didn't report the damage in a promptly time -- which I did, but still...somehow, it was my fault because they never showed up. They also like to hire third party workmen to do some of the repairs and maintenance. And hide behind the we're not responsible if they mess up because "it wasn't our maintenance staff." Most of Tonti Properties will offer up a stay in a hotel or a vacant unit if say your a/c is out, etc. and they cannot get it worked on right away. Not Cypress Lake. Even if it's something where it's actually dangerous/hazardous to remain in your apartment. They will tell you to leave and leave you up to your own devices for a night or so. I'm just gonna say that if you don't want to wake up one morning and find a workman in your apartment without your previous knowledge, than make sure you put the deadbolt on. They walk right in, whenever they want. Depending on which building you live in, expect some problems and critters you'd need to live with. Buildings A and B has mold and flooding issues, there's brown smelly water coming out the facets in building C, building D is known to have rats and mice, E floods and has rates and mice, F has electrical problems that actually caused a major fire in the 3rd floor unit near the office a few years ago, G has mold, don't move in building H if your planning to have cable tv - the wiring is bad, both buildings I and J has Mexican Roach infestations. Don't swim in the pool, a kid recently took a dump in it and I have yet to see them properly clean out the pool. Enter the hot tub at your own risk. People oftentimes have sex in there in middle of the night. The gym is a joke. It actually use to be the public laundry room. From what I heard they're planning on scrapping the racquetball court to expand the office and gym. The dog park is sorta in a bad spot if you ask me. It's off to the side of building E behind the dumpster. If there's a bad rain it floods there and at night it poorly litted. Speaking of flooding, during heavy downpours the parking lot floods up quickly. If you wanna save your car the only safe spot is parking it by the leasing office. Unfortunately a lot of us long term residents know this and there's like 8 or so parking spaces so good luck with that. Garbage collection is MIA sometimes so occasionally dumpsters will be filled to the brim, leaving people to leave their trash on the side of the dumpster. Depending where you live at you may have ample parking. Buildings H and I are normally less congested. Buildings A, B, C, D, E and F are the worst when it comes to parking. Out of my 10 years of living here I've noticed a decline in quality of people moving in. I'm starting to think they're not screening people like they were when I first moved in. I'm seeing more and more drug addicts and 'trailer trash' moving in lately. Speaking of which I see more people moving out than moving in. About a third of these apartments are vacant. The manager is shady, two-faced, a smiles in your face type. She like to come into your apt and takes pictures, without your consent. Corporate is a waste of time. Just as long as they receive your rent money on time they don't care about anything else and really wouldn't give you the time of day. To be honest, if you could budge $100 more, I suggest Botanical or Mandeville Lake. They're much more spacious and updated. read more

I lived at Cypress Lake in 2013-2014 and I had such a great experience that when I needed to rent an apartment in 2018, I called them. I went onto signing a lease without seeing the apartment or one similar to the one I was moving into. The original building was C--the one I had a pretty good experience in, I believe...In 2018 I signed a lease to building J. I moved a few things everyday after work for about a week, go clean, etc. Everyday when I would pull up, there was an elderly woman (tenant below me) who would watch us and then open her door and ask if I was there to fix her car, or tires, and even yell at us when I told her no ma'am. This car she was speaking of had leaved under it and didn't look like it ever moved so I assumed it was broken, but I was not there to repair it. Some days she would just open the sliding door and watch my young child and me walking up. This made me very uncomfortable, so by the weekend I packed up what I had brought, moved it out and signed a lease somewhere else and moved in. Yes, I had occupied the apartment with my belongings for one week and I had signed a lease so I know that is what had me screwed but I will NOT live somewhere I do not feel safe and comfortable. The manager called and harassed me at work and told me that she would ensure that I would not be able to purchase a home because this would destroy my credit and she guaranteed that she would report it. I also agree with the other reviewers, the management here is very unprofessional and two-faced AND the qualification system's standards are very low. Property managers should make you feel comfortable reporting issues to them. I never spent ONE night here at this disgusting place. I'm so confused by all the positive reviews of cypress lakes. This place is the worst place I have ever lived. Since my boyfriend moved in over a year ago they have continued to try to take advantage of him. First they have not fixed any of the issues that he brought to their attention when he was moving into the apartment. The cabinets are crooked, the counter tops are so cheap that they are peeling, the lock on the front door is broken.. I can go on and on. Also the air condition does not cool off the apartment and it is only a tiny one bedroom. During the summer the electricity bill is over $200 but yet the apartment is hotter than 80 degrees all day until about 11 or 12 at night. The staff is always rude. The air filter got changed out 2x in over a year that he has lived here because it is not "cost effective" for the complex to change the filter every month like it should be changed. The tenets that live around us leave trash in front of their doors and in front of the stairway, and there is a man that lives here that goes in the gym while kids and women are at the pool and videotapes them from the gym window. Now that my boyfriend's lease is coming to an end, he was told that he has to give a 60 day notice that he is moving out... even though his lease is over. I have NEVER heard of this in all of the places I have lived. He works all day everyday and he hardly can get to the office during office hours, so his 60 day notice was TWO days late and now they are making him pay $170 of rent for those days. What's the point of signing a lease that ends on a specific date if the lease doesn't actually end on that date? This place is a joke. If you are thinking of living here because it seems like an affordable place to live please do not!! The money you spend on electricity and this place's stupidity and games equals the same price you would pay for a nice apartment! Don't let this place nickel and dime you like they did to us! The worst decision I ever made in my life to moved in to this horrible complex and ruins all my credit score... First they would seem ok to do their job but once you move in you will find out how poor the maintenance and the office stuffs, especially the manager of the office is the worst she is rude and don't know what she doing I wonder how she got that job. btw after we moved in about six months I got a job promoted in New Orleans but I didn't take it because i don't want to break the lease and ruin my credit or to pay unreasonable fees that they asked for so we stay until the lease was finished but they sent me and my roommate to the collector office because they told us we failed to return the notice form to leave the apartment and not signings the lease for another year so, they force us to stay another two months with $1600 per month which is ridiculous plus we never got any reminder to return the from to the office nor didn't get any calls but they said they tried to call me several times (which is absolute lie) they just want to make money out of me coz they know that we can afford it but all I can say is that if you ever live in this apartment complex they will try to get your money every possible way they can plus we were told the rent was $900 a month but the actual rent was $977 every month so, do not go here.....there is a whole lot better apartment complex around Covington and cheaper rent with a great environment with great people. Lastly, don't even think about getting your deposit back coz no matter how clean and nice you leave your apartment they have a blind eyes to see all the clean apartment!!! My family and I moved there 2016 and it was great . The neighbors was nice, the people in the office were amazing. It was until our family started growing and we moved into a bigger apartment there . The neighbors above us was super noisy and accused us for having weed. Which really pissed me off because it was their next door neighbor who was smoking. I was pregnant and had child so I'll never allow that in my house . Then we decided to buy house and my family and I moved out at the end of May 2019, but our Lease didn't end until July so we paid rent for those last two months. After our we paid , they charged Us $1000 plus for the rug and also kept the deposit. $200 for a cleaning fee , and I didn't understand that fee because we cleaned &cleared out the apartment in May. Now I just received a letter in the mail about having a late bill with cleco with them and we haven't been there since May. It is now October 28th . I turned the light off on June 5th, and paid the last bill there . I would not recommend these apartment read more

If you get a loft they will tell you upfront that they are HARDER to cool. What they should tell you is that the lofts DO NOT cool down at all well in the summer. They did not tell me the truth about the loft. THEY LIED TO GET ME INTO THE APARTMENT. My loft would hold a temperature of 86-88 degrees up until 10:00PM at night even with the air conditioner on high. My utility bills in this tiny loft were almost $150.00 a month and it was hotter than hot coals. It was horrible. The lofts are very trashy. So they have a rule against double parking yet their good friend Mark in building "C" parks his junky truck in the middle of two parking spots. I complained 13 days in a row and he still was allowed to double park. He should have been evicted. They still let this immature thug park this way. The management has a HUGE problem with integrity.
