This was the most amazing trip the owner was so polite Bill met us at the dock secured our personal possessions, encourage us to use our phones to take pictures and took us on the tour of a lifetime over the Everglades looking for Alligators. Then at certain places he would stop and give us the history behind the Everglades, the various types of alligators, and the different species of birds that we might see. Captain Bill is amazing! I never thought I would visit the Flordia Everglades, let alone ride on an airboat to see alligators but my nephew who did a 365 with his life insisted. Now I'm wondering why I never did this sooner! Capt. Bill made us feel so comfortable! He explained what we were seeing! I was so afraid an alligator would jump on the boat and bite us until I saw they are afraid of humans except under certain conditions. My nephew loves alligators and now I do too. Went on a private 2-hour airboat Everglades tour for two with Capt Bill, owner of Cyprus Outdoor Adventures. Capt Bill is a wealth of information about the ecology of the Everglades and the impact that man and development are having on it. Great tour with 6+ gator sightings, several from less than 3 ft away! Other tour companies use the big 15-or-so passenger airboats. If you like that "city bus feel", that may be the way to go. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED, my 1st time experience on an air boat! We went in February, before being quarantined. But If you want an adventure while still using "social distancing", this is a great way to get out there! My 13 yr old daughter was even surprised at how much fun she had! A friend had recommended & I'm so glad I chose to go with Cypress Outdoor Adventures LLC. Captain Bill is top notch with a great personality & he has so much knowledge about the Everglades & the wildlife there. I've always wanted to see the Everglades but have a huge fear of getting up close to gators. Captain Bill helped ease my fear & I was able to see several of them up close. (Don't worry folks, they don't hop onto your boat! LOL) He was extremely cautious the whole time we were out. Other air boat tours we saw seemed to have arrogant captains that were showing off, disregarding common safety rules. I was concerned at first, but Captain Bill takes safety very seriously & made sure we were never in harm's way. We really felt we were in good hands. He seemed to have a built-in radar knowing where every boat was coming from. (Yes, you can hear them from a distance, but out there, it's difficult to tell what direction they're coming or going.) He took us to more secluded areas, you know, Off the Beaten Path. I could tell he was familiar these areas as if he had made his own paths just for his tours. It was a true adventure! We saw gators, so many different bird species I didn't even know existed, an old cabin & even an old wreckage from a small plane. We had a fantastic time with Captain Bill just before Christmas. My girlfriend's mom was in town for the holiday so we wanted to do something fun and special. They are from Indiana, so this was there first airboat ride. Captain Bill was energetic, congenial, and informative. He really knew how to pace the day for our group. He has a wicked good eye for spotting alligators, and other wildlife. A particular highlight of our day was spotting an otter, which swam by our boat for about 10 minutes. We signed up for a 2 hour ride, and we got far more than that - so thanks Captain Bill! Also, I must say that the smaller airboat was quite nice -- it's a tank, so it felt safe, but it was intimate enough that we all felt close and could enjoy the ride together. Overdue review for a great experience in February in the Everglades. Took my family on a 2 hr private tour of Captain Bill's backyard, the Everglades. Bill was great, even graciously allowed us to switch days when it looked like a bad car rental experience was going to make us slightly late for the original time. He's very client driven and wants to make sure his clients have a great experience. He grew up in the Everglades and comes from multiple generations of fan boat operators. We saw a handful of gators, great birds, turtles, etc. My kids enjoyed their first fan boat experience immensely! One even did his school project on the Everglades because of our experience. This is the air boat tour you're looking for! I did a lot of research, read between the lines and singled out my best pick; Captain Bill is the "real" deal! There are other air boat tour companies out there that have a bunch of boats, different drivers, over-head to pay and run things to maintain all of that and make a profit. Captain Bill has one boat, a love for nature, an uncanny knowledge of the Everglades and a willingness to share it; and hopefully make a small profit as he is his own boss. Combine all of that and one doesn't just have a great Everglades tour, but one of the better tours of any National Park I've been to. The guy can spot the tip of a gator's head from 100 yards out (only one mud gator!) He knows the ins and outs of the terrain, a great weather app and will show you a few secret locations I won't spoil in this review. Our group was looking for a thrill and found Cypress outdoor Adventures page on yelp we were excited to go but we had a couple of problems, First we went to the business address listed on the web-site and it is a private home near western Fort Lauderdale and not a business so no luck of a ride there. Our group didnt have a lot of time to waist we had to catch a plane that afternoon so we ended up going with another private charter out on 27 in Weston Florida. We had almost missed our flight because of the confusion of the business address listed. To make matters even worse we were told the actual boat ramp is in Weston Florida on hwy 27 and not actually in Fort Lauderdale at all for Cypress Outdoor Adventures. The company should correct there business address so this wont happen to anyone else. We would of loved to have gone with them if we could only find them. read more
