By 1920 the Lions were international with chapters in Canada. In 2017 the Lions Club celebrated their 100th anniversary in Chicago where they were founded. Today there are 1.4 million people who are Lions positively impacting their communities with service projects. A charter member of the Coral Springs Lions club was Lewie Mullins, the first elected mayor of Coral Springs. Mullins was a Coral Ridge Properties Vice President who was the first developer of Coral Springs. Mullins also helped build the Covered Bridge in town. Sadly he passed away at the young age of 49 after only two years in office. Lions Park was dedicated on June 6, 1970. It was the first park in Coral Springs. The land for the park and Hunt Elementary were donated by Coral Ridge Properties to the school board who then donated back 6 acres for the park. Lions Club members John Nekich and Col Ralph Gray fundraised to build the baseball diamond which was used by the first little league in the city. The early Coral Springs community enjoyed the weekly BBQ's sponsored by Coral Ridge Properties along with baseball and softball games. The park was the end of the town parade route and held the celebrations after. Today Lions Park is still bringing the community together. Park amenities include basketball courts, benches, concession stands, grills, pavilions a playground, picnic tables, restrooms, sand volleyball courts, softball/baseball fields, a paved walking trail, and tennis courts. Love the beautiful lake where you can also rest and relax on a bench or picnic table to take in all the nature around you. Love the fact that they have emergency stations all around with AED machines and around the lake with rescue flotation devices. Definitely was built with a child safety mindset as many kids playing sports at the park etc. Park is clean and well maintained all around. Parking is a plenty but can get packed and busy with local sports in play.

There are also playgrounds and climbing areas for the kids and gazebos to celebrate birthdays. Classic family oriented Coral Springs vibe. Plenty of green areas and there are nice lake areas. Safety is always first in Coral Springs, you can find life vest stations all around the lake areas and AED and CPR stations with photo instructions complete with solar panel. Easy, plenty and convenient parking.

Also in the park is the award winning Tennis Center of Coral Springs which has 12 green har-tru courts. Membership is required to play here and participate in the programs and camps. My favorite part of the park is the Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital, a not-for-profit organization that rescues injured or orphaned wildlife. they provide the public with education about South Florida's wildlife and environment while rescuing and rehabilitating over 700 animals a year. They offer a a yearly Earth Day festival, summer wildlife camp, and programs for school groups. The Dr. Steven G. Paul Dog Park was built in honor of Dr. Steven G. Paul who dedicated his life to animals and creating this park for the community. Dr. Paul was a veterinary graduate of Ohio State University. He ran two veterinary hospitals and gave public lectures on pet care, wrote newspaper and magazine columns, and appeared on local television to give pet tips. Dr. Paul attended veterinary conference in Massachusetts in 1992 and saw a dog park in Boston Commons. He loved the idea of dogs playing freely and decided to bring the idea back to South Florida. The dog park was built in the mids 90's in the Coral Springs Sportsplex. New agility equipment and water stations have been added for the dogs and there are benches and shade areas for the people. The Florida Panthers Ice Den where the NHL Panther practice and the public can ice skate. They have a pro shop and ice hockey leagues and figure skating practice. The Coral Springs Sportsplex Park also has the Rotary Community Garden, picnic tables, public art, sports fields, a playground, and a walking/jogging trail. I have been here many times through the years to bring injured wildlife to the Sawgrass Nature Hospital, to take my daughter ice skating, with camp groups to use the pool, and with my Jack Russell Sunny to play at the dog park. I have a lot of great memories here. I can't think of another park in the area that has so much to appeal to so many.

Baseball is a little too separated to watch kid play baseball and other kid play at the park. It's near a nature center and right off the sawgrass. I definitely wouldn't shy away from participating in an event here or renting the pavilion for a bday party. 2 places to park! I like to park at the dog park, but there is dedicated parking for the sportsplex. I like the dog park is across the street and you enter the park almost in the middle vs parking waaaaay down at the end in the parking lot.

The new playground was built at a cost of $508,550 and features two play areas with a green and blue camouflage theme, one for ages two to five and another for ages five to 12. Other park amenities include barbecue grills, open play area, picnic pavilions, pickleball courts, restrooms, tennis courts, basketball court, and exercise trails. Many of Parklands city baseball, soccer, tennis league, and lacrosse programs are held in the park. While this large park is perfect for sports, it can be enjoyed by anyone who wants to take the kids to play or who enjoys outdoor recreation and exercise.

She happened to be in town on business & wanted to have Kermit give support through this time for the Parkland shootings. This is a wonderful spacious area that showed tribute to the recent deaths from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. There were several therapy dogs on hand lending support in the memorial & just to be present for the families & victims. I was glad that I was there to assist Melissa & Kermit. This park is amazing, clean, & wonderfully taken care of. The volunteers as well as the staff was present & had water on hand to help & give assistance. They are there for the community & for the people. I just want someone to be aware that this exists for others if they wish to pay respects for the current events & thank the community for such love & support to the families & victims. My heart goes out to the community & thank you again for having a place of solace & support during such a tragic event.

Burrowing owls are considered endangered, threatened or of special concern in nine U.S. states. Unlike other owls, they are not strictly nocturnal and are active during the day. They make their nests in underground burrows, which are dug out by ground squirrels and they prefer open grasslands. They are pretty timid and will pop back into their burrows if you approach. In addition to all of the great sports amenities in the park, the city offers family friendly events like movie nights and concerts. The central location of the park in the city makes it an easily reached and valuable recreation resource for the community.
