The thing that sets this park is it has a lot of lovely large trees providing shade. It is also a certified wildlife habitat. At this park you can play half court basketball, bocce ball, or volleyball. There is a pretty basic playground with swings along with a jogging trail that runs around the perimeter of the park. There is an exercise area set up with fitness stations. Other park amenities include a bathroom, picnic pavilion, and a grill. There is ample parking in the lot.

We arrived early, and although the parking lot is pretty large, it filled up quickly because of the event. I'm sure on regular days parking is much easier to find. Right at the entrance there's a drinking fountain, which was nice on such a hot Florida day. The park has two playgrounds -- one for younger kids and another for older children. There's also a covered pavilion area where the restroom is located. The restroom itself looked quite old and unfortunately wasn't very clean. Also, the park closes fairly early (7 AM-7 PM), and they actually lock the restroom at closing time. Huge thanks to the park ranger though -- my kids needed the restroom at the very last minute, and we literally ran to make it before the door closed. The ranger saw us coming and kindly waited for us. Very appreciated! One thing I really liked about this park is the amount of shade. There are huge trees all around the playground, so even during the heat it feels cooler and breezy. We were also surprised to find a small gazebo with a roof fully covered in solar panels -- it even had lights in the evening and a spot to charge your phone, which was such a cool detail. There aren't many benches around the playground, so my little life hack: bring a folding chair or a picnic blanket. And definitely bring mosquito spray for the evening. The playground surface looks like rubber, but somehow my kids still ended up super dusty and dirty after playing. An ice cream truck came by during the event, and the entire playground rushed toward it immediately -- of course we did too The ice cream was actually really good. I got the orange & cream flavor, and my kids chose mango. Around the playground there are walking trails and a lake with a small bridge nearby. Just something to note: the bridge doesn't have side rails, so keep an eye on little kids. Overall, it's a nice park with great shade, lots of breeze, and a relaxing atmosphere.

See if you can be the next Anthony Rizzo? Diamonds! Prefer to just "accidentally" jog a lap and call it marathon training? The walking trail is a mile and a half--perfect distance to earn that snack from the concession stand without breaking too much of a sweat. Parents, the playgrounds here are basically kid energy vacuums. Bring them in bouncing off the walls, take them home napping in the car. Win-win. And sometimes, if you're lucky, you'll catch live music at the amphitheater. It's like a mini Tortuga... if Tortuga had free parking and no sand! Speaking of parking--there's plenty, which is rare enough in South Florida to deserve its own round of applause. Honestly, Pine Trails is the kind of park that makes you forget you're in suburbia. This park is made up of three 40 to 50 foot tall hills that were created when the C-14 canal was dredged on the southern edge of the park. The park was landscaped and ficus and oak trees were added. A playground was built at the northern end of the park. There are only three parking spaces which discourages people from using the park because it makes it difficult to get a spot. People like to use this park for exercising. It is hard to add elevation to your run so having hills like this to go up really enhances your workout routine. The park has just recently reopened. It closed even before Covid-19 because coyotes were reported to have chased down a jogger who fell and tore a ligament. There is literature available at the entrance of the park that details what you should do if you encounter a coyote.

Fairview Park has a parking lot and restrooms which you don't usually find in a neighborhood park. There is also a picnic area, basketball court, open lawn area for play, and a playground with a tot section and one for older children. Fairview Park can be rented for private events. Winding through the park is a paved walkway for exercise and walking your dog. I was impressed with the many trees are in the park adding beauty, shade and a home for native and migrating birds. As I was walking around people were setting up a tent to sell food providing a real sense of community. Parks like this one are an important recreational resource for their neighborhoods.

It's in a residential area that I didn't know even existed. And it's a nice bit of open greenery for the residents in contrast to the industrial buildings on Dixie. There's a small playground for kids that looks new -- or newly painted. There is a basketball court, walking path, and restroom facilities. Under a stand of trees is one picnic bench and a bbq grill. The large green lawn area is perfect for soccer, frisbee, or possibly a concert. There's a parking lot for cars or for just hanging out with your friends -- as we observed when we stopped by.
