First time I've been in since they renovated a few years back. As a Cypress resident I have nothing but love for our PD, they do a great job and it shows in our way of life here. :) We called and scheduled a tour for our Cub Pack and they were quick to take care of us, the kids loved every second, and it's always cool to see the workings of something you may not ever otherwise (unless you're being a naughty monkey and find yourself there, not judging). ;) Jokes aside though, I'm glad we have such a strong tie between our citizens and our first responders here in Cypress. read more

lady on dispatch for non emergencies is always rude and condescending. wouldn't let me turn in the bag of someone on a MISSING PERSON POSTER, because it wasn't "in their jurisdiction" despite it being found down the street from their department, and the missing persons hotline telling me to do so. Doesn't let you get a word in and always talks over you as if she has something better to do. Sucks that most of these people are here for a paycheck not to serve and protect the community. Even Lakewood sheriff agreed Cypress was stupid for that. If you actually need help, you're better off calling La Palma. read more

I would like to sincere appreciation for outstanding service from officer J.Perez from city of Cypress police Department for her professionalism and kindness during an accident . I had lost my purse which held value items and although many people told me it was a small case that police usually would not investigate , I decided to report it anyway . To my surprise around 11:00 pm that same night a dedicated police officer came to my house . She took time to investigate the situation seriously including taking fingerprints and gathering information . This was case #8370 ( report 25-00205 ) and I will never forget how she handled it ! I am so graceful for her work and hope our community continues to have officer like her - compassionate - hardworking and truly committed to helping people . When you need the CPD, they show up right away. I use to lived in LB and because it's a big city, it would take the police 2 plus hours to show up on a call. I've lived in Cypress for 25 years and I've had to deal with the PD over 10x in my life for things ranging from marijuana possession and license plate/no registration, to reporting my motorcycle stolen and receiving every traffic citation in the book. Let me say, the Cypress PD was 90% of the time cordial with me, and have worked with me to get thru my legal issues. Being honest with them has 100% Of the time worked in my favor, resulting in me getting let go most of the time, or taking the lesser of the charges. I wouldn't say I was just lucky, but I believe it reflects on our PD that they are here to really help and protect us citizens of Cypress. Everyone likes to talk their shit on our local PD until they finally need to rely on them for help. Give our city's boys in blue the respect they deserve because as far as Cypress goes, they are all respectable protectors. Except for the 5 foot bald, Asian hardass who threatened to arrest me if I had a record for jaywalking at 3am to get me some tacos.. you can chill out bro. Went to the cypress collage this weekend, bought a heavy table my husband couldn't carry by himself. Took my car around on Valley View ST. So he could put it in the trunk of my car. Had my emergency lights flashing, car was still running wasn't even in park. I was still in the car. Officer Carrasco didn't even approach me to see if i was in any distress. She didn't even ask a question. I've been going to that swap meet for over 28 years. Everyone pulls into the red zone to load heavy items they purchase. What was the reason with the random sobriety check point on Valley View past Saturday around 9pm? Traffic couldn't be worse and there is no way to make an U turn once you are south of Katella. We were sitting on our butt with melted ice cream in our hands and a cranky kid in the back seat. 20 minutes and 200 yards later, we finally passed the check point. What I don't understand was...1) Why do they not move the car in question to the side so that 300 other cars behind him can move forward? 2) Why did the checkpoint people just waved us to go and didn't even stop us? What's the deal?! Shouldn't you check everyone if you are doing sobriety checks? I would definitely feel better as a Cypress resident if you had. If I see this sobriety check again next time and if I can avoid it, I will spend the extra gas money to drive the extra mile and go the scenic route. read more

This is by far the worst police department I've dealt with in my life. Yesterday, a CPD officer cited me for violating the hands-free rule in CA. His evidence? He saw my phone screen was on. It was obvious from my VIDEO RECORDING (Yes, I recorded our interaction and I'm glad to have done so as Cypress PD is rated among the worst by both Yelp and Reddit) that he was gradually building up his argument and fleshing out his scenario. At first, he accused me of "being on the phone" which is a hazy generalization at best. Plus, it doesn't imply that I was actually holding it. After all, isn't speaking on a speaker phone "being on the phone"? As I told him that I was merely charging my phone but not using it, he accused me of having my cellphone screen on and manipulating the screen. Even if this accusation is true, it once again does not imply that I was holding the device. The screen turns on with every incoming call, text, or notification and screen manipulation (I'm still puzzled as to why he chose the term manipulating the screen. Maybe he's a comp-sci major or a coder. I don't know) doesn't require that the device be held in hand. I insisted that the phone was on the passenger's seat while charging and he finally accused me of "holding the phone in my hand" and putting it down when I looked over to him. So there we go. He presented two statements that can be best described as overly general, ambiguous, vague, and even humiliating and what did he achieve? Nothing. He failed to imply that I was holding the phone in my hand. Finally, he had to resort to a groundless accusation. He saw my phone lit up and came to the conclusion that I was holding it. Furthermore, he stated he would not have been able to see it unless I was holding it. Despite my detailed explanation that the visibility of the phone was due to his proximity to my vehicle (less than 3 ft away), him towering over me on his motorcycle, more or less dark surrounding after the sunset, and the screen brightness, he issued a citation in the absence of concrete evidence of wrongdoing. I then went to CPD to obtain a complaint form from one of the sergeants. While the first sergeant I spoke to was courteous, he maintained biased towards the citing officer throughout our conversation and kindly refused to give me the form. After contacting CPD once again to share my dissatisfaction with its service, I was told to come in once again to obtain the form from yet another sergeant. So I drove there twice just to obtain a simple form. My encounter with the second sergeant proved to be a nightmare. 15 minutes into waiting outside past midnight, she came out and yelled, "What can I do for you? Time to go home." Why even offer to help when you're hell bent on sending me home? From the tone of her voice and her attitude, it was obvious she was not willing to help. She had me wait outside yet again for an extended period of time but finally brough out the form. However, she resorted to foul language (f*ck) addressing me for no reason whatsoever. Moreover, she insisted personal information must be submitted for the release of the complaint form, which is a blatant lie. Such insolence and abuse of power by law enforcement officers I have never witnessed in my life. I'm contacting one of the lieutenants on Monday to bring this matter to his attention. I'm hoping and praying that he'll be courteous, responsive, and calm during the conversation and take appropriate measures to prevent such obvious police abuse and misconduct. read more

Absolutely terrible. I had an encounter with Officer Edwardo Pastor on August 2018 on my way to work and he pulled me over for my dealership license plates. I explained to him that I had purchased my car a month ago and that I was going to be getting my real license plates and registration tags in the mail in 1-2 weeks. He did not believe me no matter what proof I provided. I did not want to waste my time bothering with an ignorant fool so I decided to take the ticket. Luckily, it was just a $25 fix it ticket, but I was still frustrated nonetheless. After that whole situation, I cannot trust people like Officer Pastor nor will I ever recommend him for anyone's problems. read more

I just fell trap to the "no turn on red" sign at Lincoln and walker. I wish I would have seen it!! The officer was polite and yet cocky and what's extremely hilarious (sarcasm) is that I run a local business just two blocks from there and bc of the location, there are a ton of crack heads roaming around, when I call these cops, they either don't show up or show up 20-30 minutes later which by then is too late to apprehend anyone. But it's my fault for falling for their trap as these signs are small and places in inconspicuous areas. To write the ticket, two patrol cars showed up, how many cops does it take to write a ticket?? I have had nothing but poor experiences with cypress PD from a business standpoint. When u call they do nothing except tell u that the masturbating crack head outside your window has rights too and that he can loiter outside your office all he wants... The cop actually told me this! Before my many experiences with Cypress PD I actually wanted to be a cop, now I've lost respect and trust in law enforcement as I've encountered nothing but big heads and small minds and an attitude of "I don't feel like doing anything". It's so disappointing that we hire and pay these people to protect us yet they do so little when needed. I will say, in one of the over 30 times I have called cops to come to my property, one time I had officer J. Krok come I a Nd he was extremely helpful. I have no problem with DUI checkpoints. Tonight though, Cypress PD, you tricked me. What I thought was construction turned out to be a DUI/ California DL checkpoint which prolonged my commute home. I think Cypress is going a little overboard with the DUI checkpoints. This is the third one I have seen in a little over a month and I have been stuck in two of them. After working what seems like a never ending night shift at work, it sucks having my trip home delayed another 10-20 mins. If Cypress had nightlfe like Newport Beach, Huntington or Fullerton, I would understand the need to do so many checkpoints but Cypress? Uh no. I do appreciate the looking out for drunk drivers. But maybe give a heads up to the employees who work down the street from your nice little checkpoint so they can soberly take an alternate route home? read more

I am beyond disappointed in the police department. I had a Birthday party over the weekend within an hour of starting it,my neighbor threw a big rock through the window hitting one of my friends leaving a big bruise! But we were the ones getting trouble for "causing a scene" I'm sorry I think being upset about that is normal not only did he do that but he spit on another friend and threw another ones phone. The police did not ask if anyone was injured or hurt they did nothing involving that incident. Apparently it's okay to throw rocks through people's window. I've had people call the cops on me while i was sitting in front of my own house in a car for a "noise complaint" but several times I've called to put in an actual complaint for people being disruptive and disrespectful late at night LIKE TONIGHT, no one shows up. I'm trying to rest not listen to cars and annoying people be loud. No one should be at the park at 2AM. This is probably the 4th time I've had to Complain about noise that this lazy department does nothing about. Some asshole peed at the park too, Oak Knoll Park, while you didn't bother to show up. In the 15 years that I've been driving, I've only gotten 2 traffic tickets & both were in Cypress. The first ticket happened on Holder & Ball road. The day I got the ticket was also on the day of my birthday. I was driving back home from the doctor's office in the morning. Officer C. HENSE stopped me & wrote me a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign. What kind of asshole cop writes a ticket on someone's birthday & for something they didn't do?!? I clearly made a COMPLETE stop, Idk what he was paying attention to. It was early in the morning & I was too tired to argue with the pig so I just accepted the ticket. By ruining my day, I bet it made his. There's a reason people despise cops, this is def one of those reasons!! I will never forget that horrible day. The second time I got pulled over was on Lincoln & Walker street. According to officer YU I turned right on a "no turn on red" light. Which wasn't the case, it was yellow when I turned & then it turned red after I completed the turn. Plus I see people turning when it's red all the time! Why are some people let off & some aren't?? And why the hell do you need 2 cop cars to pull over 1 lone female driver? Cypress cops are incompetent. They need to solve crimes & capture criminals not write tickets because they're bored cruising around. They should transfer to South LA or Compton police dept, where they'll have actual work to do & more criminals to nab. Writing traffic tickets is not a priority; getting burglars, rapists, pedophiles, murderers, & child molestors off the streets IS the priority!! read more

This police department is incredibly unhelpful. Having been a resident of the city for more than 20 years, my family has had their share of unsatisfactory encounters when we have contacted them for assistance. To begin with, they are very biased and refuse to hear the facts. They do as they want and do not bother to take into account any potential danger they are placing their community. They go out to your residence and assume they know everything- no notion of attempting to go beyond their call of "duty"; they just want to leave as soon as possible while doing the bare minimum. They lack empathy. There is a serious lack of confidence in our police nationwide- sentiment that has been felt for a long time within our community. We are conditioned to think that the police is there keep us safe, yet the police can be called out multiple times for the same reason, yet we are told to, "stop calling the police so much, we have other things to do". We cannot confidently say that we trust this department to keep us safe within our own community, or even within our own home. We love this city but their is a resounding dissatisfaction with this inefficient police department. Some suggestions: 1) Listen to the community. 2) Make the community feel that you are here to help/protect us. 3) Empathy training. 4) Take action- let us feel that our concerns are addressed. 5) Put an end to the abuse of power. Change cannot be made overnight- we understand this. And this is not to say that there is not a possibility that they have officers who are dedicated and care about the community- I just have not encountered one yet, but the community should not have to think twice about calling for help. We shouldn't have to debate whether calling the police is the right thing to do or not. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Ok I stole a can of monster when I was super baked at a Costco in cypress when I was really dumb and young. but these "cops" r out of control. They r over stocked with weapons and cars they don't need, for a small ass city with very little crime they have way too many units. And they're border line is so fucked up u can't tell what's their city property from another's. and 1 person called the cops on me and I ran cuz I was so high I got scared. in the matter of 2 mins I had 8 yes 8 cop cars (mostly SUVs) chasing me down the street with guns pointed at my chest. I was scared for my life so I laid on my stomach and waited for them to dig their knee caps into my back. I'm no criminal really, and they wanted to arrest me but the best they could do was a few mister minors and called released me to my mom in handcuffs and in the back of a squad car. They r ridiculously over policed. Sometimes I'll see 20-30 cop cars in cypress go by all at once down the same street. Like wtf man this ain't Compton I was there last week lol. read more

I don't know if this is standard procedure for Cypress P.D. but my car was hit/grazed by a kid who took off. I felt the hit, but didn't know the damage. So, I followed the car to get the license. Then I tried to flag down a police car but no luck. So I went home and called C.P.D. and reported it. The clerk told me I would have to come in to make a report and I could do it the next day since it was late. The next morning I went to make a report and the clerk told me I should have called when the incident happened and make a report at that time. I explained what the other clerk told me and she told me that wasn't correct. So she took my report and had me wait for 1 1/2 hours for an officer. Then the officer looked at my car and said that I could buff out the paint and it wasn't that bad! I thought a hit and run was against the law!!! He asked me what did I want and I told him I want him to find the driver and they should talk to him! He said said blah blah blah and I was so disgusted having to wait and listen to bad reasoning I gave up. read more

Congrats to the cypress police department for being some of the biggest a-holes on the planet for 1. Threatening to arrest someone that has stated they just got out of the hospital and sick with an ear and throat infection and was just given a bunch of steroids and stated it was a judgement call not to drive in that condition. 2. For threatening to arrest someone for parking in a back parking lot where no signs are present that state parking might not be allowed and while that person is a member of the gym and pays monthly dues to be there. 3. Failure to assess a situation that is initiated and over dramatized by a young and inexperienced security guard with a comic book view of the world looking to villianize people that are not doing anything wrong and are not breaking any laws! 4. Now because of that security guard causing problems when there were none in the first place i am now on cypress pd's radar and in danger of being arrested for going go my gym for doing absolutely nothing wrong and am writing this so that i have some type of record should i be a victim of their harrassment again. read more
