I had heard about this place about a year ago from a friend. I booked a 2 hour ride for my two daughters and wife for her birthday. It was really awesome!! Liz was our guide. I was pretty impressed with how organized and on the ball they were. From the minute I walked up, they were on top of things and got us all set up on our horses. The horses are very good quality. Overall I enjoyed the experience , I was a little uncomfortable while checking in , front desk was extremely rude and unprofessional. While sitting on the horse I could hear the older woman (not sure her name ) upset because I wasn't holding the rope correctly, she came over and grabbed my legs and pressed them into The stirrups . The trail ride itself was fun and relaxing. However, I felt it to be unsafe. As soon as they brought the horses and I got on, I received no instruction whatsoever. Finally the same person that helped me get on showed me the basic steps, but he seemed annoyed while he was showing me. The "15 minute instruction" was more like 5 minutes. I was towards the back on the trail ride and it was very hard to hear what the guide was saying. I felt like there should have been two guides, one at the front and the other at the back. I felt like safety wasn't their top priority and they need to focus more on the initial teaching for first timers. read more

Had a great time and will definitely be back! Today is my birthday and received a half off coupon (so that was a plus) but just the experience would be worth paying full price. Staff was very helpful and personable. I do have maybe one-two "negative" things to say, but I feel it's constructive criticism: after every one is paired with their horse, the wranglers give instructions on how to handle the horse and give it commands; I would suggest to have everyone show you they where listening and able to control the horse before going on the trail. Some people just don't and didn't listen to simple instructions... But if it were not for the quick actions of the wranglers some people would've been out of the trail ride within 10 minutes. I absolutely loved Cream she was my horse today. And even in the pouring rain, I still had a good time and a great birthday. Thanks!! read more

Visited Cypress Trails for the first time over President's Day Weekend. My fiance and I were thoroughly impressed! Family members bought a Groupon for trail riding at the ranch, once before. They suggested we visit for a fun day out. The staff were very friendly and the horses well-trained. We waited about 20-30 minutes to get started but passed the time taking selfies with silly helmet covers, petting the ranch dogs and getting tips on riding from Presley. As this was one of the few times I've been horse-back riding (first on trails!) I was a bit nervous. I didn't really know what to expect. I watched others getting on and off horses closely. I made sure I paid close attention to the brief instructions the guides gave on handling the reigns.I really could have used more help on how to start, stop and steer the horse. I felt extremely lucky that my horse was calm, collected and fell in line with others. You're a good horse, Cytron! Parking is available on site. There is (1) portable restroom. Complimentary water bottles and helmets available. I recommend calling in advance to book start time. Trail rides take about 1.5 hours start to finish. read more

Had a good ole horsey time! this was my first time ever on a horse and the staff made it easy for me and calmed my nerves. Our guide was awesome and was knowledge about horses in general and the ones we were riding on. The scenery was beautiful and horses were sweet! This was the best horse ride I have had yet. My wife has rode horse for a while. This was my third time. My wife did the two hour package. It was great. The horses are really nice. The guide we had was really good. The trails are nice and have a little challenge as well. Next time we are in texas will come back for ride and lunch. We live in Houston and the trail ride was exactly what we needed to get out of the city and back in nature for a little while. The ranch staff, including the very friendly ranch dog Shimmishang, helped us get ready for our experience by showing us where to go and what to do when we got our horses. Our guide, Preston, was very conscientious and knowledgeable about horses and training novices like us on how to "steer' our horses. What I enjoyed most was the trail. It wound through the cypress and pine trees along the edge of a creek. You really felt like you were miles away from civilization. Once we were under the tree canopy, the usual summer Texas heat was not noticeable. It was a very enjoyable family (with teenagers) outing! I would highly recommend it. read more

Absolutely loved this place. I was visiting Texas and I've always wanted to go horseback riding. The staff here is great and friendly. The scenery is very nice and peaceful. What a great time!! We had a group of 7 people and had an awesome 1.5 hr trail ride experience. Our guides, Braden, Lindsey and Logan were awesome! All very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Took my 7yr old daughter this past weekend for a 1.5hr ride. Neither of us had any riding experience, so I was very pleased at how friendly and accommodating the staff were. They make you feel very comfortable and welcome, and they are set up for all experience levels. The horses are very well cared for, and the horses they selected for my daughter and I were gentle and easy to ride. The guide took us through the Cypress Creek river bottom, and went at the perfect pace for new riders. It was not so slow that it was boring but also not so fast or challenging that I was ever nervous about my daughter's safety.
