The owner says my original review is false. First, I don't know if the young man I interacted with was the owner Rondal at that time. Second, such a delay may convey the ineptitude of the owner, but more important, would the owner, if the same young man, remember the event 5 years ago with so many customers since?! And if Rondal was not the the young man whom I interacted with, how would Rondal, the owner today say my review is false! My review in 2019 IS TRUE TO THE LETTER, and the poor interaction is what prompted me to write the review. Here is my review at that time: "I went in to mail a package. After Rondal took my package, I asked for a receipt. He said he doesn't give receipts because he is not a UPS store. I said, you took my package, what if it gets lost, I have no proof you received it and sent it. He said, and i quote, "That's not my problem" in a disrespectful way! I was taken aback by such rudeness, lack of good business attitude and a lack of gratefulness that I was using his business. I won't use the business again. If the owner reads this, please contact me, as Rondal [if the young man] would only refer me to his business card on the desk." The card did not give the name of the owner of the business. If Rondal the owner is the young man at the time, then maybe he has learned more respect for his customers. While I was there, there were two additional walk ins - one for a live scan and another for passport photos. Staff is professional, efficient and rates are reasonable. It's located on the west side of Village Plaza, along Vista Montana, between Chantal Skin Care & Mega Acupuncture & Herb. The purpose of mandatory live scan fingerprinting is to ensure the safety of students by conducting thorough, state-verified criminal background checks, fulfilling CA legal requirements for people working with minors to prevent child abuse & foster trust with parents & the community. SBCS asked me to come in on a Friday afternoon for the live scan after the school year ended; not sure if they made an appointment prior but I was able to walk-in. The office is small with a couple of chairs in the waiting area, & no one was there except for me; even so, it took a few minutes for them to call me in to get my fingerprints after I completed the paperwork & showed my CA driver's license. I went to the restroom to wash my hands, then I was given Corn Huskers Heavy Duty Oil-Free Hand Treatment Lotion on my fingers, & placed each finger on the scanner that captures high-resolution images of my prints. I had to re-do my thumbs a few times, & my index finger a couple of times, adding more corn huskers lotion. Chris had to squish my thumbs, rolled it a few times because they didn't read well. It felt awkward due to my hand positioning & I wanted to adjust my position to be more comfortable, but couldn't/didn't since it may shift during scanning. I explained to him that my hands are usually dry & cracked from overwashing; I later learn that this may strip the natural oils & cause rejected prints. The lotion is used in live scan to moisturize dry skin & enhance the print quality, making faint/worn fingerprints more legible. The whole process took less than 15 minutes, & I was done & out. Once fingerprints are captured, they're transmitted electronically to the CA Department of Justices (DOJ), & the agency (my son's Chinese school) will receive the results directly in a few days. I don't know the cost since SBCS was covering the live scan. The process was quick & easy, though general pleasantries exchanged would be nice & polite. Not sure if appointments are required but advisable in case you're on a time constraint. If you're in need of live scan services, I recommend #1 All Safe & Secure Live Scan Fingerprint.

We initially moved forward with the understanding that our requested move-in date would be August 24, which was intentional so our organization could complete its internal review and due diligence. After signing, we were informed that the move-in would instead occur immediately, with the rent prorated into the following month. That change had not been discussed or authorized by us. During our subsequent review, we also realized the arrangement was a sublease and that we had not received written confirmation regarding the underlying landlord's authorization for the proposed use or whether the intended use was permitted under applicable city requirements. The communication surrounding payment also became uncomfortable very quickly while our internal review was still taking place. In the subsequent response, several of my own statements were repeated back to me in a way that I felt was unnecessary rather than addressing the underlying concerns. We ultimately withdrew before making payment or taking possession, and the company did confirm that our withdrawal was processed. I wish them well, but based on my experience, I would recommend that prospective tenants conduct thorough due diligence and get all necessary approvals and terms confirmed in writing before signing or making any payment.
