We went to Cyra's to celebrate our 19th year anniversary. I had called ahead to make reservations and asked to speak to the chef. The staff was AMAZING! The chef prepared a special four-course meal for us. Everything was perfect! The food was top quality (hard to find in Dalton), flawlessly done and creative. I am so happy we decided to stay local, normally we would drive to Chattanooga or Atlanta for a good meal. Coming from Chicago, I have had my share of GREAT steak house steaks, Cyra's is right there! Just had an amazing lunch here! Crab cake appetizer was all crab and very fresh- beautifully presented. Flounder sandwich special also very fresh and served on a baguette type roll that was perfect. My husband had the Waygu roast beef sandwich and it was very tender and flavorful. We normally would not order desert after lunch but everything was so good we had to give it a try. The blueberry pound cake was fresh and definitely homemade. We were in Dalton for a doctors appointment so came early for lunch. We will make a special trip back to Cyra's again!! We were driving through Georgia around dinner time we were close to Dalton and checked restaurant reviews to decide where to eat. Cyra's had excellent reviews, well earned. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu We started with the house salad with hot bacon dressing---it was outstanding!!!! Followed up with the single pork chop---again outstanding. This was a really terrific find and an unexpected awesome meal. They opened Monday and I went this evening. The food was outstanding and the service was great! Enjoyed the avocado appetizer and French onion soup. The salads all had homemade dressings. For the main course my wife had the homemade pasta and shrimp, and I had a ribeye with asparagus. All the good was cooked to perfection. With 5 stars, and up at the top of Restaurants Vegetarian in Dalton, GA, we were intrigued. The menu descriptions were irresistible. My wife had the Cilantro-Citrus Ahi Tuna, medium, and was a bit worried about how much red was still showing. No need! Any further done and it would've lost flavor and been -- a dead fish! I had the spaghetti squash/chick pea dish. Fantastic! We were both stuffed but had to at least share a dessert. The creme brule matched high expectations of a prior customer, "better than any in France!" Our waiter, Zach, was both knowledgeable and helpful, serving the entrees when we were finishing salads, rather than having to make room for the next course. read more

My husband and I were travelling to Florida and had an overnight stop in Dalton, Georgia. We decided to try Cyra's after reading some positive reviews on Yelp. We were welcomed and seated right away. Our server was very friendly and came back several times during our meal to inquire how we were enjoying our food. Ventre We both had wine - for me, a Sauvignon Blanc and for my husband, a Rioja. My husband ordered a steak and I ordered a noodle Jambalaya. My husband's steak was cooked rare rather than very rare as he had ordered yet, but most restaurants cannot get it rare enough for my husband. My Jambalaya tasted wonderful but visually was rather unappealing because it was served on a flat dinner plate with way too much sauce. It looked more like a suit or a stew swimming in sauce than Jambalaya. It was a huge portion which I could not finish. That said it was very tasty! I I mentioned the visually appealing aspect of the Jambalaya to our server, who commented that he would pass along that information to the chef. We would certainly both go back to Cyra's again if we are ever in Dalton, Georgia! read more

Opened on Monday -- this is my second time here. I have a highly limited diet because of medical issues, and the waitstaff & the chef were highly accommodating to my needs. The first time they made me a fish entrée that was both low fat/low carb and ... most importantly, delicious. This time they are making me a bison burger, also very low fat, and have substituted a side salad and asparagus for the potatoes. Local mom and pop downtown Dalton. This is the finer of foods. The portions can be smaller with come things, but it's so worth it because it's fresh and higher quality of food. You need to try the crab cakes and avocado fries! Oh and the crème brule is awesome!!! read more

DINING CONFIRMATION QUICKLY EMAILED, COMPLETE WITH WRONG ADDRESS LOCATION to visiting out-of-staters who were celebrating their 50th year reunion as Army helicopter pilots returning from service in Vietnam. The looks on our faces as we approached a closed, abandoned main street site complete with Cyra's name on it and tacked up note indicating that this would be 'opening in the near future' startled us all. If it were not for a lady passing by wanting to know if we were lost, ~ we would have been eating at a local café, coop or drive-in. After navigating one way streets, alas, we found Cyra's. When told what happened, the restaurant's hosts didn't seemed startled at all for the occurrence, but rather ushered us out the door, through an open-air seating patio and into another spacious setting which was nice, but not quite the more formal setting anticipated. Oh well, now for the better part of all this. The tuna, steak and lamb presentations were spot on. A reasonable wine menu, though not a single Georgia vineyard example, carried us through the night with good memories. Adequate service attention. read more

I'm a Johns Creek native who stopped by for fried green tomatoes to satisfy my nostalgia. What I found was better than I could've imagined- and my expectations were high. I had the slow roasted prime rib and after one bite I knew it was the best I'd ever had. The wine selection was superb and would find a way to satisfy even the biggest of wine snobs. The menu reflected the creative touch of the owner, TJ and the decor had the aesthetically pleasing touch of his wife Danielle. I will definitely be back. Yelp, you did it again! Acting on the five-star recommendations, Cyra's located in the historic district, 234 N. Hamilton, Dalton, exceeded our expectations for lunch at 3 pm on a Monday. Unique fresh, clean food (avocado fries, a specialty burger of the day, chef's gourmet sandwich made with the freshest salmon, and creme brule for dessert) arrived with the most tantalizing flavors. The staff went out of their way to treat us special even sending us home with extra homemade ciabatta bread and dipping sauces. Absolutely fantastic experience! Firstly, the food was sensational from avocado fries to grilled caesar salad to grilled free-range chicken. Little details like the lemony delicious pesto dip and fresh bread to the smoky, earthy mushrooms and sundried tomatoes in the risotto did not go unnoticed. My husband and I went tonight for the first time, the night before Thanksgiving. The restaurant was less than half full when we arrived. Our waiter came to give us water right away and we asked for a few minutes to look over the menu. It did not look good and was not a very large menu. I asked about the portion size of the appetizers as none of the entrees appealed to me at all and he suggested it would be enough for a dinner. Thus, my husband I both ordered the french onion soup, two appetizers, and two side orders of veggies. Before the soup came, we got some fresh bread with a dipping oil full of fresh herbs. It would turn out to be the best part of the meal and it really was quite enjoyable. It took a little while for our soups to arrive, but not too terribly long. When they came, they were served in huge bowls and they had a piece of bread lying on top of each bowl. As it turns out, it was kind of a deconstructed french onion soup. Traditionally, you have a piece of bread on top of the soup and then gruyere (sp?) cheese melted atop the bread. Instead, they had essentially made a grilled cheese sandwich and put it on top. Presentational? Very. Tasty. Not so much. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't real french onion soup. So I was disappointed off the bat. As for the soup itself it was way too salty and had almost no onions in it. It tasted of onions sure, but I like some actual onions in my soup. I tore up the sandwich and tossed it piece by piece in the soup. Because it was grilled and not just toasted, it was too greasy. When I ran out, I tried a piece of the bread they brought to the table in the soup and it was much better. I only ate about half my soup and had to drink about two glasses of water before my tongue no longer felt as if it were coated in salt. So then we waited. And waited. And waited. Remember, the restaurant was not very busy. A few couples came in after us along with a large party, but our orders went in before any of theirs did. So the kitchen was taking forever. I was ok to wait, however, because I fully expected my food to be delicious. I had ordered their salmon appetizer and had asked for it to be well done. Keep that in mind. My husband had ordered crab cakes. And we were going to share the carrots and asparagus. When our food finally came, the crab cakes were ridiculously small, even for being an appetizer. My salmon was a good size for a meal, but I looked at it in horror, poking it and asking, "is this even cooked?!" I think it was the owner or maybe the chef who brought my food, so he went into an explanation of how it was chemically cooked with sunflower seed oil or something like that. I didn't care. I couldn't eat that, and I mentioned how I had asked for it to be well done. Shouldn't my waiter have caught that I thought I was ordering something else? Shouldn't the kitchen have caught it on our ticket?! There really wasn't anything in the description to signal it would be anything other than grilled, and it really had sounded wonderful on the menu. To their credit, they took the dish back, removed it from our bill, and asked if I wanted something else. Of course, as that was the only thing that sounded good in the first place, I declined. My husband didn't care for his crab cakes. Again, they put presentation ahead of taste. I don't know what they are called, but I'm certain they had been cooked in these metal cylinders which allow you to essentially stack food higher and make it hold together to look all pretty. They did look nice, but with that cooking method there was no way to get a good crispy finish to the cakes. They had a minimal crunch on both sides and that was it. Despite the tiny portion size, he ate only one crab cake and we brought the second one home to our cats. As for the veggies, I thought they were pretty good whereas my husband thought they were undercooked. They were rather raw, but I personally prefer undercooked veggies to ones which are overcooked. However, they were difficult to cut with our forked. I was always afraid they were going to slip off the plate and slide across the room. My husband also pointed out that they were not hot when served. I thought about it and agreed. They had not been. Plus, both sides were served together on the same plate and there wasn't a lot there when you considered we ordered 2 sides of veggies. I have more to say, but Yelp is cutting me off. So let me say this--I thought they were going to be a health food restaurant, but they dumped that to go too upscale, probably to make more money. That alone makes me sad. I don't wish them to fail as a business, but I do hope they will change to offer more choices, be faster in service, have clearer descriptions on the menu, and maybe offer the gluten free, non gmo health food they originally advertised before opening. They went too upscale and too pretentious. Unless they change A LOT, we won't go back. read more
