I would not recommend getting even a simple bike fit here due to safety concerns. I paid $100 for a bike fit and trusted the technician to properly adjust my bike. During the fit, my saddle height was changed and the seatpost clamp was tightened using only a hex tool. My carbon seatpost clearly states a maximum torque of 5 Nm, but no torque wrench was used. I assumed everything had been done correctly and didn't think to double-check their work. Shortly after leaving, I was riding at about 20 mph and hit a very small bump in the road. My seatpost suddenly dropped under my weight, which completely threw me off balance and caused me to crash into the nearby grass. This could have easily resulted in a serious crash. Because the seatpost slipped, the carbon seatpost was also scraped when it slid down into the frame under my weight, which is concerning for a carbon component. To make matters worse, after spending $100 on the fit, I left without any documentation of the final measurements or where my saddle height and positions were set. I essentially walked away without knowing what my final setup was supposed to be. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. I trusted the shop to properly adjust my bike and ensure it was safe to ride. Instead, I left with a slipping seatpost, damage to my carbon seatpost, and no record of the fit measurements. For something as important as bike setup and rider safety, I expected much better. read more

Been going here for years and this is my first review. Every time I go in the employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I broke a shifter cable on my Trek. Rode it up there yesterday expecting to drop it off and walk home. The guy (didn't get his name) put my bike on the fixture, and had it fixed in less than 10 minutes. Thank you. read more

I was in need of a bike, as I just got back into mountain biking. I called around to a few other stores and it seems there's a bike shortage because nobody had stock. I spoke with Mike and he was excellent in finding me a bike in my price range. I ended up with the Giant Talon 4 and couldn't be happier. A+ selection of bikes, and they have an excellent repair shop. Labor rates are reasonable, and the turnaround time is fast. The sales staff is quite knowledgeable, and as a bigger guy getting back in to cycling to lose weight they had the know how to help me outfit my old mountain bike. Also when I needed a part they couldn't get (no local stock and none in their supply chain) they were still helpful and informative. Even though they couldn't get a sale they still showed class to me. They have a full section of the store for hockey gear, as they are D&D Bicycle and Hockey, but I haven't shopped that side so ill let some one else review it. read more

I called regarding a bike showing in stock. They said it needs to be put together and would be a couple days. Left my number with the promise they'd call when it was built. No call back. A few weeks later called and was told two days. Still no call back a few weeks later. Called their Berkeley store because they said the same Bike was in stock but they wouldn't be able to assemble it for 3-4 weeks. The lack of follow up and indifference is pretty amazing. Most bike shops have limited stock however D and D has a decent amount but apparently don't care to sell them. read more

I must say this is actually the only bike shop which seems to stay open after 6pm - THAT MAKES ME VERY HAPPY. Ok honestly this place isn't good for looking at bikes if you are on a really tight budget - when i walked in the first price i saw was $150 (that's for a small bike) Holy Moly!!! **Don't knock this place just becauses of their prices** Luckily I wasn't coming for a bike but looking for repair - I had a simple flat tire but with no sign of the tire ripe. Obviously after getting it repair it was the inner tube - the entire replacement was $16 ($8 for inner tube / $8 for the labor). I really not sure what's the cheapest price but I only wanted my bike fixed. The guys were very nice and sweet - as my bike was getting repaired in the bike one of the guys made small talk and they even offered to put my bike back on my rack. (Pure sweetheart even if it's probably part of their jobs) Lol! The store was clean and exterior was nice as well - please note there parking is tight in the back and it's also ONE-WAY so if you miss the entrance and try the exit part, just be aware that it might be blocked due to cars in the rear. So why 4 stars - of course expensive bikes and their price isn't listed anywhere. I'll return in the future. :) read more

I am upset with my experience here. I feel duped by one of the mechanics (Muhammad) as he, without a doubt, sold me several wrong/unnecessary tools. Here's what happened: I had recently bought a new set of wheels for my road bike. I needed to buy and install a new cassette and chain on my bike. I came to D&D and spoke with Muhammad. I was going to have the part installed at D&D, but they weren't going to be able to finish the job for a day or two so I decided to just buy the tools to do it myself (I do most of my own bike repairs). Muhammad walked me over to the wall and informed me that I would need 2 chain whips ($30 each) and a cassette tool ($10). He then pointed out the specific tools on the wall. I let him know that I was pretty sure I did not even need 1 chain whip, as I was only installing the cassette, not removing it. He assured me that I was incorrect, and I ended up buying 1 as a compromise (He said I could alternatively use 1 and an adjustable wrench). When I got home to install the cassette, I found out that he had picked out the wrong cassette tool - it didn't fit the shimano cassette that he had sold to me (you would think an experienced mechanic would know what tools are used to install something as common as a cassette). I also found out that I did not need the $30 chain whip that he had sold me, and I most certainly did not need 2. Needless to say I went to another bike shop to get the proper tools, and I do not plan to go back to D&D read more

Bad company! Never buy from here ever! Was ripped off on price and my bike was returned with missing parts and their response was "Those parts weren't on the bike when it was brought in." It was a complete bike that needed some work and was returned missing a pedal, loose handle bars, and loose seat. I will never be back and I tell everyone I know to never go there. We drove 2.5 hours to purchase a 2022 Specialized Bicycle that was listed on D& D website, after calling to confirm the bicycle was in stock of course . Upon arriving the manager was friendly but you could tell she knew very little about bicycles. We were sold the bike and headed home. I had asked a few questions as I didn't think the components looked right. I was gaslit into thinking some had been changed due to covid, i.e : Used Giant grips on a specialized brand bike. Upon getting home something didn't sit well. I sent an email pointing out the differences in the specs. I never received a written response. I assume they didn't want proof of their poor customer service. The next morning I proceeded to register the bike with specialized. The bike was not the bike we had driven down for . In fact the bike was a lesser model and a 2020 discontinued bike and the registration link proved that. When someone from the store finally got back with me via phone he said he would have to "look into things" like I was lying. I presented actual facts and photographic proof that the bike was not what was advertised or the bike listed on our receipt . They basically pulled a bait and switch . The owner (Trisha M) couldn't be bothered to call me but another "manager" did. When I presented him with the solution of a 10% discount on a 2 yr old bike that they essentially fraudulently advertised and marked as a 2022 he laughed at me. His solution? A $25 gift card to a store I will never step foot in again. Won't even send us the proper grips for our daughters bike. I have the tag, receipt and photos all proving this was a bait and switch. Don't even get me started on the "mechanic" who didn't even know how to adjust the brakes. Avoid this place and save yourself a headache. The quality of service is appalling and the lack of bike knowledge is even worse BUT the shady tactics really are the icing. No wonder they lost their retail agreement with Specialized. I wouldn't want to have them representing my brand either. read more

Visited this store June 2021 for a bike repair. The staff was very helpful & friendly. Unfortunately they only repair bikes purchased from their store. The carry a lot of very nice high end bikes (kids & adults) and bike hitch racks. This is definitely the place to go if that's what you're looking for. Also, the store has definitely gone through a nice remodel. They do not have a red street sign as displayed in older pictures. They are in a gray brick building with a sign on the front of the building, which was a little hard to see when passing by looking for a red street sign. read more

The store is essentially split between bikes and hockey. I have never patronized the hockey section so this focuses on bikes. PROS: - Hours - Open 8am-8pm everyday, one of few specialty stores open 12 hours a day. - New bikes - Lots of Trek and Giant bikes at competitive prices. These aren't $100 Walmart bikes but you get what you pay for. - Accessories - Fantastic selection of helmets, gloves, clothing, etc. - Service - Fair. They are outgoing but not the most knowledgeable. The one mechanic on duty was probably the only one of the three workers who really knows a lot about bikes. CONS: - Parts - I brought in a mountain bike to replace the front wheel, a common 26" rim. They didn't have the part in stock and said it would take a week to ship. Actually, it took nearly two weeks. How does a bike shop not have standard parts in stock? One good thing is that they did take a couple dollars off my bill. - Used bikes - very limited selection. Last time I checked, just 8 used bikes available, 6 kids and 2 adult. OVERALL: Good place to buy a new bike and gear. For repairs and used bikes, look elsewhere. read more

I drove 5 hours to the Warehouse sale based on assurances given to me by the owners son via email and text of their truckloads of vintage goods and upon arrival was shocked that it was only a few tables of what appeared to be leftovers from their swap meet set up. Gave me bad advice creating more repairs. Nearly charged me twice. Wasted my time by saying my work would be done sooner than it was, once over the phone, and once in person. Are generally very rude. Dropped off a wheel to be trued. They couldn't do it, so sold me another for $60. The man with greasy black hair told me I could transfer the old wheel cassette to the new wheel using a ratchet. On my day off I undid the bolt of the old cassette as suggested and ball bearings went all over. I brought both wheels in and they told me it would be a $15 dollar repair. Rather than finish my business the man with greasy hair, the same man who originally gave me the bad advice about using a ratchet, walked away from the counter when I suggested that I leave me info. I called later they said it would be another few minutes and couldn't remember if I had dropped one or two wheels off. I set the record straight. I arrive an hour and a half later and the wheel isn't finished so I wait. They tell me it will be another fifteen minutes, again, after my first fifteen minute quote was an hour and a half. about half an hour later they finally bring out a cassette to sell me. I pay about $32. Still won't take name and number down. (Same guy with black greasy hair). I come back half an hour before they close (5:30pm) and they have the wheel finished don't welcome me into the store, at first show me someone else's wheel and then disagreed amongst themselves on whether I paid for anything. smh. That was the boldest scam that I have ever nearly been trapped by. If you go there for a repair expect to produce much frustrated laughter as I did. read more

This place seems to hit the mark pretty well. I am a cyclist as well as a hockey player so I use them often. Previous reviewers stating the prices were high on bikes are simply not understanding the difference between a K-Mart bike and a professionally assembled, high quality bike. They give you 3 years of maintenance and flat repairs w/each bike purchase as well. I recently went looking for a Girls 20" bike and found the Trek Precalibur. They did not have the color I was looking for but quickly informed me they could have one in the correct color in a few days. I placed the order and 3 days later they had my bike. The head bike mechanic double checked the assembly before I left and sent me out pleased. read more

Went a few days later to purchase the bike and they had sold it. They found one at the Berkley store and had it arranged to be brought to the Westland location in time for her birthday. I came to this store because they sold Electra bikes. I walked in to the shop and not one person asked if I needed help. There were a few workers and only one of them were talking to a customer. I had to go up to one of them to ask if they had the bike I was looking for. I was looking for an Electra cruiser bike and they told me that they did not have one. I asked if they could order it and they guy asked me what one i was looking for and I told him and he said it is out of stock. Then I asked to you have any Electra cruiser bike in stock so I could test drive it and he told me no. As I walked out the door there was a Hawaiian red Electra cruiser sitting outside of the store. That bike is over $500.00 I guess he did not want to sell it to me. read more

Poor combination of inventory. They try to be both a bike shop and a hockey shop, but instead theyre just a incomplete bike shop and a very incomplete hockey pro shop. Incredibly incomplete hockey lineup; some Bauer, some Warrior, nothing from Reebok or CCM, and many others. The bike side carries like 20 bikes, zero variety, nothing interesting, and tons of outdated components and accessories. Decent skate sharpening (from one guy) but literally nothing else going for them staff-wise. Upon one visit, i witnessed the owner walk through and ignore half the employees while speaking incredibly poorly to the others. I'd like to support local business, but from what i've seen and what i've heard about the owner of D&D, they'd be better off closed. Wouldnt let my friends or family work for someone as snobby, elitist, and disrespectful as that guy. Overview: Its business not worth supporting, not only because of the staff/owner, but also because they just dont offer that much in quality or quantity.
