    a glass of beer

it gives you the feel of hanging out with your buddies in the basement or garage... just give you a feeling like your home 12 beers on tap which is a good selection to choose from . Even with a good size crowd the bartender was quick to take your order with a smile . You will find the classic shuffle board game and a old pinball machine.

My memory seems to fade about experience details at breweries. Seeing as I've been to a couple hundred of them, take that into consideration. D and G sat on my to-do list for awhile. The Fox River/Kane between Oswego and St. Charles had little to offer in the way of breweries until a few years ago, and then all of the sudden they were everywhere. D and G is in the upper part of that class. It's tucked away in a neighborhood so the ambience back here is a little different...more chilled out. The indoor side has two side rooms and a main bar area where most of the patrons sit. One of the side rooms was more expansive and from the signs hanging, is also used for larger events like a bowling game and a drawing night. Another room has a nice sofa and is separated from the outside by a garage door, where you access the patio. Since it was a nice night we sat outside to enjoy a few. Plenty of seating out there, the only thing they're missing are bags/boards. But enough of the scenery, lets get down to the beer. Their menu was about 12 or so deep when we stopped by. It was mostly summer weighted as it should have been, but also included a couple of stouts. This is where I go fuzzy, trying to remember beer names. I had a stout and a red, and enjoyed both. I also look forward to returning for their fall/winter beers. Cheers.

Jason was very friendly and gave some great recommendations. Nice brewery in a quiet neighborhood.

With a Stout that is out of this world, a Red and Kolsh which are refreshing and some totally drinkable IPA's Alex has brought Colorado style brewing to the Tri_Cities with an exclamation mark! I'm going to love watching this brewery grow.

The outdoor (and pet-friendly) patio is yet another highlight. It's clear they continue to invest in making the space even better each year. It's such a great spot to relax, hang out with friends, and enjoy a drink (or two). Riverlands is easily my favorite local spot. Lots of interesting ones to choose from. They certainly have more than one expects, as there's plenty more in cans you can take. Good choices. It's about $6 a pint. Best one of these we had was the Taproom IPA. This is an American IPA with Chinook hops and it's one of the stronger ones. Also has a few basic things to eat. It's about $6 to get a Soft Pretzel. Baked fresh. They sometimes have frozen pizzas and other things. For sure it's one of the great places around here to get beers. It's closed Mondays. They have a limited food menu with pretzels but they also sometimes have food trucks working.

It doesn't look like a brewery would be there. Actually it is. They specialize in fruity ones and sours, so not beers that are hoppy obviously. Beers are typically hoppy to some point, but these aren't. It's for sure a type not many are used to having. These all have a lot of fruit, but what's unique is the fruit is added after the brewing process. Adds a lot of fruit flavor. These often have the consistency of a smoothie. It's about $8 a can. They brew in pretty small batches at Church Street Brewery in Itasca, and serve these at this taproom. Best we had the last time was the Bistro Pineapple Strawberry Habanero. This is a Berliner style weisse. Consistency was thick like a smoothie would be. This had a lot of fruit flavor, but it also had a tartness. For sure we could try some of these beers again. It's located on First Street. They're closed Mondays to Thursdays, pretty limited hours, so it's a place to go on weekends.

Energy City Brewing takes on a lot of Bistro/Coffee Shop flavors and transforms them into beers. Flavors like pineapple banana cream pie to grasshopper mint. Thankfully there were a couple of canned options available to sample. Their prices are comparable to other specialty pint prices. I'll definitely be back when in the area to try out another fresh option.
