A very small ass brewery. D & G is in St. Charles in the same building as Bring It Sports and Out Of Body Fitness. It kind of is hard to know where to go because the door to the entrance isn't obvious. Go into the main entrance like you're going into the athletic center and it's to the left. They share a parking lot so if it looks like it's busy it's probably just people working out and training. Brewery is a nice place whether or not you're doing any athletics. It seems mostly quiet in here except they play interesting music. This seems to be more like a garage than a brewery, which is a cool thing. Has quite a few beers on tap even though it's a small place. We tried a few of these. I had the Don't Call It A Double. It's $6 a pint. This is a Belgian Dubbel, and it's considered medium strong. She had an Imperial IPA. We needed something to snack on so we got peanuts. It's $1 a bag. There's not really much food or anything else you can eat. Cool place to check out and get some fresh beers. It's small so it means not a whole lot is made. They brew smaller batches so you get better beer because of this. read more

We were in town with friends and popped in here before our workshop at the Board and Brush place next door. The manager there, Jessica, said this brewery is awesome. We were able to sit indoors at the limited table space they had. It's a small place. They had the garage door partially open so it was chilly!!! I'm not a beer drinker so I was hoping they had a cider or a seltzer, but they did not. They did have a white wine behind the counter that I got a glass of My husband loved the stout. Can't wait to try more of their styles. We didn't have time this trip. Had to run. What was amazing, too, was the burger guy set up inside. Wow. It was called Biker Dude Burgers. Omg. Seriously the best cheeseburger I've ever had. It literally melted in my mouth. There are only two choices on the menu. Double cheeseburger with pickles or double cheeseburger without pickles haha. But damn he doesn't them well!! And the pickles were awesome too!! We will absolutely be back next time we are in the area. read more

Super cool place! Heard a lot about it but came a few Sundays ago - surprised about the area its in (neighborhood) but its very cute / old school. There are dogs, kids, music, games - its a great place. They do not serve food but your welcome to bring food from surrounding businesses and they often have food trucks. My memory seems to fade about experience details at breweries. Seeing as I've been to a couple hundred of them, take that into consideration. D and G sat on my to-do list for awhile. The Fox River/Kane between Oswego and St. Charles had little to offer in the way of breweries until a few years ago, and then all of the sudden they were everywhere. D and G is in the upper part of that class. It's tucked away in a neighborhood so the ambience back here is a little different...more chilled out. The indoor side has two side rooms and a main bar area where most of the patrons sit. One of the side rooms was more expansive and from the signs hanging, is also used for larger events like a bowling game and a drawing night. Another room has a nice sofa and is separated from the outside by a garage door, where you access the patio. Since it was a nice night we sat outside to enjoy a few. Plenty of seating out there, the only thing they're missing are bags/boards. But enough of the scenery, lets get down to the beer. Their menu was about 12 or so deep when we stopped by. It was mostly summer weighted as it should have been, but also included a couple of stouts. This is where I go fuzzy, trying to remember beer names. I had a stout and a red, and enjoyed both. I loved the location and the decor. Service was quick. They had live music which wasn't overpowering or too loud. Prices are on point. Beer was great! Food truck that night was pizza, which was pretty good. My issue with this place is the kids all over the place. Too many kids. And this is the second St. Charles bar I've been to in the last two weeks where a baby is literally sitting at the bar either on a lap, or their butt on the bar itself. I don't like it, and won't go back because of it. If the kids being there isn't a deal breaker for you - definitely check it out because it's a good place. The other thing that kind of rubbed me wrong was the people in the outdoor area by the food truck drinking Miller Lite. I'm not entirely sure if that's something normal or not, but never been to a BYOB bar before so it seemed off. Anyways, if there are adult only hours, I'll definitely go back. Our party of four came here on Saturday, November 5, to see percussive guitarist Jim Green perform. Both performance and brews were extraordinary! Service was friendly and prices reasonable. The sound system is good, but the space is cavernous and would benefit from some audio adsorption; while the performance space is away from the bar, conversations from patrons echoed throughout. D and G does not serve food, but there's a Mike's Little Bites food truck outside. Unfortunately, Mike's uninspired menu ran the gamut from hotdogs to sinewy chicken fingers with miserly sides of dipping sauce, but the French fries were tasty. I have found another brewery that makes a light beer that's easy on palate called Heartland Wheat. I don't like the hoppy beers. It's nice and crisp with a smooth taste. I came in on a Saturday afternoon. They were definitely short staffed. I only saw one staff inside and none outside. The one staff appeared very overwhelmed with the crowd. Although the outside had a large area, I didn't see tables getting wiped down. They had a food truck from a local vendor available as well. read more

We just discovered this local brewery and it's my new favorite! The owner is very passionate about his beer and gave us an impromptu tour. He described his operation as an oversized homebrew shop and he brews beer he likes. The tasting room is pretty large but still has a small feel because there are separate little seating areas. There were about 10 different beers the night we were there, something for everyone. I loved the brown ale and the IPA. read more

Ah I can't believe I'm only the second review! We first tried D&G at the Tri-City Brew Fest summer 2018 and I was pleased to hear we would have a local option (other than Penrose). My husband and I have been there a few times since they opened, and I think they will continue to grow. It's nice to support a family-owned local business! They have a nice beer selection, and I particularly like their Stout. Food trucks have been on-site too. Kid-friendly (at certain times of the day). With a Stout that is out of this world, a Red and Kolsh which are refreshing and some totally drinkable IPA's Alex has brought Colorado style brewing to the Tri_Cities with an exclamation mark! I'm going to love watching this brewery grow. read more

So happy I finally made it here! The beers are awesome and Alex and Nick were wonderful to meet and chat with. My favorites were the imperial IPA and the oatmeal stout. Alex is truly a superb brewer with a lot of experience and it shows. Super impressive place with extremely hard working people behind it. Hidden in a residential area of older homes in St Charles, this place rocks! Awesome selection of micro-brews that are brewed onsite and are priced very reasonably - $5 for a pint. No TV's, which is the point, they want people to enjoy a beer and conversation together. Great service and hospitality. They don't serve food, but they often have food trucks in the parking lot. You're also welcome to bring in your own food. They even have a nice outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to. read more

And by the end of each, they all seemed to be the same.. very malty, even the Kolsch. A small nitpick...not a fan of barstools without a back on them.. End up slumping over the bar...
