2nd time here in 2.5 years. We were in the Geneva area and decided to visit St Charles, too. Things are a little different now (in a good way!). They expanded and added a covered, outdoor patio. The indoor dining area is expanded slightly to have more seating. I ordered the wake and bake pineapple express. The beer was good. It was sour, but still had that beer taste. It wasn't overly sour. I didn't try any food. The bartender was friendly and hustling the whole time we were there. You should stop by. It's an interesting concept being attached to a gas station. read more

Conveniently located on Lincoln highway without that feeling of being off a loud busy road. The patio was open so we could enjoy the beautiful weather with the awning and umbrellas giving plenty of shade. Five stars for the beer selection! I had a flight with sours, a Mexican ale & a blonde ale - all were delicious & smooth. The food comes from their partner Urban Counter. Husband had the Maxwell St Polish - really good with caramelized onions. The onion rings were nearly perfect with a light crisp beer batter. Not great menu options for a vegan, I went with the southwest salad. It was okay. I'm sure it would be better for anyone able to have the dressing. Adding meat was also an option. Overall worth the stop & will probably be back to enjoy the beers & patio. read more

If you like a brewery with a theme, check them out. They are located inside the gas station/convenience store. It had been at least a year since my last visit, and they have expanded. They offer flights and a decent variety of beer. Their beer all has car themes. Service is usually pretty friendly. They sometimes have live music. read more

A gas station microbrewery that has more than beer to offer. Better than bar food sliders were a treat. The beer menu is vast and if you get the chance, try the Clown Car cream ale. There's a newer addition that gives more space for seating which is a bonus. Otherwise, you might have to wait. The service is great on a night that isn't busy. 93 Octane has some mighty good brews - there are few places that I enjoy 90%, maybe even 93% of their list! Part of the St. Charles Brewery challenge, we made our first stop here at 93 Octane. It's located on a strip mall that has a liquor store and restaurant all interconnected. You can order food from the Urban Counter. The food looked really good and priced really well, so don't hesitate to come hungry. There's an outside area where you might find a band playing. It was really hot that day, so we opted to sit inside. Some of the outstanding and unique selection is the Mystery Machine sours. It's sort of like a beer-cocktail. Surprising standouts were the tea flavored ones - Earl Grey, Moroccan Mint and Chamomile, very tasty, otherwise the Orange Habenero was really nicely balanced - good sweet citrus and a spicy finish. There was a chocolate porter which is quite light at under 5% ABV was easy to drink, similar to an adult Yoohoo. Honestly, they were all good and they offer flights, so the fun is trying as many as you can. After (almost) completing the St. Charles brewery challenge, this is my favorite out of the 6. read more

My friends drove to the back and were a little confused, but there is a sidewalk from back to the front on the side that brings you into the nicely decorated patio! The cake batter beer was delilicious! My salad was very tasty! There are games to play and they have lots of events that are losted on the window in the front. A very small ass brewery. It actually is attached to a convenience store in St. Charles. 93 Octane feels more like a local hangout for a few friends rather than a place others come to visit. Even so you can come and check it out. There's a restaurant attached so you can order food from there. Came in after going next to here to get gas. It's attached to a restaurant and convenience store, all of which appear to be owned by the same owner. This is a really small place, and there's only a few seats at the bar along with a couple tables. It hardly ever gets a big crowd, meaning this usually isn't a problem. The beer I had first was the Hugger Orange Whip. It's $6 for most pints. This one is described as hoppy sweet. It only has a slight orange flavor. This is okay. Good place for a beer. If hungry you can order food from the restaurant next to it. The food there mostly is meaty stuff. read more

93 Octane had been on my to-visit list for some time, so I was glad to finally get in here with a friend last night. The brewery is on the smaller side with some indoor tables, a smaller bar and some outside seating. This place will fill up fast once it's too cold to sit outside. There's also an attached liquor store that vends a full gamut of beer (a wide variety, not just theirs) and hard alcohol. Their stock is very impressive, especially the whiskey aisle. At the brewery they had about 8 crafts on tap and a guest craft -Burn Out - a co-lab with Brother Chimp, which I'd had over at their brewery. The first one I tried was the Autoblonde - a lighter, clean feeling beer with a lower ABV. I'd say it was above average, a nice started beer. One lightweight is all I can stand so I went with a Turbo Coffee Porter next. I'm a dark beer fan and this one was spot on. Not too heavy at 7% with a spot-on chocolatey-coffee flavor background. I would have had a few if I stayed longer. Forgot to mention, I had a sample of the 10W-30 Stout when I arrived. Also a winner. It has a similar taste to the Turbo Coffee, but more balanced out, and without the sharper notes. 93 has a food menu that's brought in by the connected restaurant on the other side of the liquor store. The menu includes a good deal of Americana choices..nothing fancy. They gave a good vibe here, good crafts, and friendly service. Great visit, I'll be back. Cheers! read more

1st of all, the BEER, every one I tasted was great and I am a beer snob! The outdoor patio was very nice, made the place feel very big. The food was pretty damn good too, cheese curds, fresh made burgers on pretzel bun, yes please. Finally the service was impressive, one guy running the taps, serving the bar and the tables, he was a superstar, Welles I believe was his name, treated us like vip, joked with us when he could and turned up every time we needed something, that guy deserves all the kudos.. Highly recommended read more

First visit, beer only (they offer food but I didn't have any) I've had some of their beer at other venues so I wanted to try the source. The taproom is small but there is an outdoor, covered area adjacent that more than doubles the indoor seating. There are heaters so the space can probably be used (near) year-round. Very clean and appears to be relatively new. Friendly bartender which is always a plus. Would recommend. Minor nit that they may have no control over. I tend to ride my bike to various breweries like I did here. There was no apparent bike rack or recommend place to leave them. I'm OK leaving my bike along the rail but if a large group rode in, there maybe an issue. Edit: I forgot to mention, the patio playlist is outstanding. I'm also 61 years old and they have been playing Bowie, Styx, Doobies, all the faves from back in the day. read more

Nice indoor/outdoor seating...had the feeling of sitting in someone's garage which made it nice... they are combined with the 2 other stores in the plaza a liquor store and restaurant which was different had to walk thru the liquor store to get to the washroom any food ordered came from the adjoining restaurant which had a good selection. I can't complain here. Beer is Out-Fu*king-Standing. Alex is doing a amazing job with the beer!! Out my 32 years of living, I've finally found beer I like! My go to here is the Pride piper, 4x4, and the peach flavored beer. I keep forgetting the guy bartender, but he is super nice and very knowledgeable about the beer selection. I keep coming back here often. The food served here is from a different vendor but it's pretty good. I normally get a burger and fry's with a few tasty beers. read more

Hubs and I love to come here for awesome beer and great conversation! I happen to think this place is VERY special and whomever does not agree can go pound sand. Jon is one the best beertenders I've ever had sling me some suds, and his weekly Mystery Machine flavors are incredibly creative and flavorful. Plus he's just an awesome dude! Every person that works here has been super nice and fun to talk to. We've had some great discourse with regulars and newbies, too. Besides the Mystery Machine flavors, where even the quote-unquote "bad" ones are still really damn good, my favorites include the Hugger Orange Whip and Clown Car. The food is great, too! My husband and I visit different Chicagoland breweries, but this one (and one other in Niles) stands out from the rest. I love coming here because the two servers, Jonathan and Welles, make you feel welcome. They go out of their way to provide a good experience. The stouts are amazing so I thank them for having them available. I love the fact that this site has an adjoining liquor store and food counter. Our friends also think this is cool. Moving from Texas where craft breweries are on every corner, it's nice to finally have a NEW local spot. I've lived in the Tri-Cities (Geneva) for about 8 months and have struggled to find a cool spot that IS NOT crazy expensive just because it can be. 3rd St in Geneva is super high-end and downtown St. Charles is more restaurants with some craft beer available. Octane 93 has been my new favorite go to. The atmosphere is awesome and the staff is great. They have created a very barber shop feel here. The price of their beer is extremely reasonable. I've tried most of the beers they have listed and they have all been great. They rotate enough to keep you interested and keep some good staples (Autoblonde) on tap at all times. The food is also great. Great portions at a great price. Not sure if I've stressed pricing enough here. The flavor of the drinks and the food is top not. It's refreshing to see a local business that isn't following the inflation trend just because. Keep that mindset. If you have not tried this hidden gem, please do so. You will not be disappointed. My only complaint is that I didn't find it sooner. read more

My friends and I decided to go here to try something new, it ended up being a perfect spot . The beer selection was big , all different flavors and types which we liked. I liked that they offered different sized glasses for all the beers for instance of ones you wanted a little taste of and then ones you really liked. They also had food which is always a plus in our group, it came from next door which was urban corner and that was also delicious, the burgers are huge, apps were good , BLT was pretty good. Cheese curds we're 10/10. It was a smaller place but perfect for a small group to get together . I liked the vibe they had and the aesthetic of the brand 93 octane. Oh my goodness!! This place is a gem!! Were there early on a Saturday and the beer-tender was delightful! He's so engaging - very thoughtful. There were some annoying customers there (my opinion) but he handled them with respect and grace.
