A small wine store with a wide selection of international wines at decent prices plus an outdoor patio,wine bar and live music on the weekends. We went on a Friday night for their Paella on the Patio provided by Le Truff Noir pop up. . The event was from 5-8pm so we arrived around 430pm since they don't take reservations. We bought a bottle of Spanish Red to go with our Paella. They do charge a 15.00 fee to drink the wine you buy on their patio . They also offer flights that pair well with the food but we preferred just a red. The food was made fresh and it was brought out to you in different courses. It was a nice evening to spend on the patio and this Geneva business inside the historic Berry House was hosting a pop up "Paella On The Patio" along with flights of three of their wines that paired well with the food. We arrived early so we went to the wine cellar and spoke to the knowledgeable staff about the wines they had from around the globe. We decided to purchase a bottle of Rioja from Spain and paid the $15 corkage fee to enjoy it on the patio and he also gave us two bottles of water. We enjoyed one of each of the tapas on the menu. There is room inside to sit and have a glass or bottle of wine. They also have a patio outside in warmer weather. I've been coming here for years. The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. Their inventory may be small compared to others but it is well curated. I regret that I have to downgrade my estimation of this establishment. my wife and I visited Geneva in December and I was looking forward to having a drink here. upon my entering the establishment the man who was on duty was busy with receipts and was extraordinary oblivious to my arrival,which I found to be particularly remarkable since the room is quite small. I paced about the floor for perhaps three minutes and there was not even the slightest acknowledgement of my presence. While I was there he did however greet someone else who entered which I got the impression he knew, this disabused me of the notion that perhaps he was suffering from temporary blindness. I made one more lap around the room and left in grave disappointment. It's really quite a shame when a business with such potential shows such rude indifference to the patrons. The last 2 times here, we were in the igloo enjoying wine and charcuterie boards! YUM... so fresh! I love The Goat Pinot Noir, very smooth, fruit forward, dry finish. Even my friend who doesn't normally drink dry red wine, enjoyed it. I took off one star because the last 2 times I reserved an igloo, the service was very slow. If we got our bottle faster, we would've had 2, but our time was up. I know its covid and they are low staff, but just wanted to make people aware to know what you want to order right away so you can get it in, because it does take awhile... it may be because both times I went was on Saturdays which are busier days as well! read more

I really wanted to do a wine tasting, so thanks to Yelp, we wound up here. It's a small wine shop in a building with a bunch of shops. But once led through a narrow doorway, we were in a room with high tops, and down below were some regular tables. Tip: They have live bands some nights tucked away inside here. The one staffer was very friendly and helpful. They rotate their wine tastings. On the day we were here, it was a Spanish flight. We enjoyed several glasses of wine for a very reasonable price. They also have a very good selection of wines for purchase, so naturally, we walked away purchasing a couple of bottles. If you're in the area, this is worth a stop. read more

Well, Cotto a Legna has some outdoor seating, Preservation has outdoor seating, Galena has some, Wildwood has some, Grotto has some, and Geneva Wine Cellars has some. How many places have outdoor seating and perhaps 300 different kinds of wine to choose from? Well, the list grows dramatically smaller...in fact, the list goes to one: Geneva Wine Cellars. Come here, peruse and perhaps try some wine, find one you like, and sit outside and enjoy some serious people watching and socializing while having your wine. There is food available from Grotto down the street, the location is perfect, and by the end of the night you'll probably have met and maybe even sat with some people you didn't know previously. You'll drink wine in wine glasses, not plastic cups, and the crowd will be upscale and fun. There are now 30 to 45 days left in the outdoor seating season in Geneva. Make sure you come here and enjoy at least one of those days drinking wine and people watching at Geneva Wine Cellars. read more

No class at all!! My girl and I fought the crowds during the Geneva Christmas tree lighting ceremony and elected to try this place for a cheerful glass of hot Gluhwein on a cold evening. I was lucky to find a table for 2 and quickly ducked in to sit down. After 10 minutes we were asked what we would want to drink and we ordered a hot spiced German Gluhwein. She told us it was not hot and it would be about 15 minutes until we can get one, and asked us if we wanted something else. We said no we will wait for our order. Not 2 minutes later she came back to the table and said it would taste better standing, meaning if your not ordering wine, get off the table! We were so totally insulted! I could not believe what I was hearing! We basically were asked to leave the table because we wanted to wait for what we wanted to drink, and didn't order something else while we waited! Totally and completely classless, tasteless, insulting and ridiculous! I was so embarrassed for my self and my date. This place and this polish or German woman has no clue about good service or could give two squirts about people. Never again will I step foot in that hole of a place! read more

This place is great. I've done Galena Cellars (just down the street) several times but this is a different experience. The atmosphere is very cozy and intimate and I like that their wine tasting menu is preselected and offers a good variety. The woman who runs the place is very personable and really takes the time to explain the differences in the wines. She brings in different live entertainment at times as well which is really a neat touch. This is the kind if place where you could just sit all day and keep sampling away. read more

We had a wine tasting here recently, Liz who lead the tasting was great and everything was as to be expected. The reason for the one star rating is because of the treatment my group received after the wine tasting ended. Similar to other posted one star reviews, a tall blonde employee took over for Liz and then proceeded to treat our group very poorly and also talked down to us as well. We spent quite a bit of money that night, only to have it ruined by this employee after Liz went home for the night. No one in my 9 person group will ever be back. We left and went upstairs to the Mexican restaurant and received way better service. She was completely rude, unprofessional, and shouldn't be in a customer facing job. Plenty of places in Geneva that respect their customers, however Geneva Wine Cellars is unfortunately not one of them. I suggest going anywhere else instead of this place. read more

She came up to us four times but we never ended up getting any wine because she just kept walking away mid question. No not recommended. Small wine shops are among my favorite places to purchase wine. Smaller stores have the ability to purchase unique offerings that sometimes won't be carried by Binny's and larger style chains. Couple the unique selection with the proprietress Aline's genuine knowledge and familiarity with wine and you have a 5 star establishment hands down. The Champagne selection is thoughtful and provoking and the international selection is stunning. She also keeps an extensive selection of higher-end Rieslings and German wines which are unparalleled in the west suburbs. The French selection is extensive, with unique and exquisite items including a fantastic Sauternes collection. There is even an outdoor patio to enjoy purchased wines, so this certainly classifies as a "date" place. I will most certainly return soon, as soon as my last case runs out! read more

We came here thinking that we could do a little wine tasting like other places where you pay so much for so many tastings. This place is a little different. They have a few wines that you can try (a variety of red/white) for free. They have a little patio upstairs outside, and a table downstairs in the cellar that you can sit at. Downstairs is very small, and not exactly warm/inviting. It's literally a cellar. They have a huge variety of wines at a really decent price. Their staff is very friendly and helpful, but one person seemed a bit busy unloading new wines, and I just kind of felt like we were getting in the way. I wish that they had more wines you could try with a little more space downstairs. read more

I had high hopes going in. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the reviews. My husband and i were going to purchase a bottle of wine to drink on premise (with a corkage fee) but we changed our minds after experiencing the customer service of the tall blond employee. No idea what her name was but she had a British or Australian sounding accent. She talked down to us from the moment we arrived. We couldn't decide between 2 bottles to purchase and drink on the patio. My husband had a small taste of one but then she refused to let us taste the other. Really? ! At a wine bar? Where we are paying $10 more for you to open it and let us drink it there? It's not as if we were asking to taste multiple. It was between 2 bottles and we were going to purchase one of them. Definitely not going back. There is a better wine bar less than 100 get away, that had excellent customer service and makes their own wine. read more

I called a couple days before and they told me that they do wine tastings on Saturdays. They never told me what time they ended on Saturdays. We get there about 6:50 p.m. to simply walk around 1st. I was not impressed with the ambience at all. Anyone's basement looks better than that place! We waited at the front counter patiently as the woman who works there is catching up with people she obviously knew personally. Then she was about to take other people who just arrived even though we stood there for 5 minutes already! I spoke up and told her we were there for wine tasting. She said it ended at 7 pm. To me that was very strange because it was 7:02. That was completely unfair and uncalled for in my opinion. In addition, she saw us walk in and she could have been more proactive about it. This was not some high-end Winery that had a line out the door. She essentially turned down at least $16 worth of business because she was busy socializing and decided that we weren't entitled to the wine tasting. She claimed that they couldn't risk it running out of glasses. I realized she was a snobby bitch and we left. I have been to wineries where I arrive 5 minutes late and they still took us. They made at least $50 off of us. Don't go here people. This is not inviting place. read more

It is unfortunate I have to write this review. I have been to this place a handful of times and enjoyed the vast selection of different wines. Unfortunatley, the owner decided to berate me in front of other guests when questioning a $10 cork fee on a $9.99 bottle of wine. I have no problem paying a cork fee, but when the fee is more than the wine, I as a consumer have the right to question it. Instead of calmly explaining that this is the fee, I had to hear how he is $60k in debt and if I don't like it I can just leave. There are plenty of other places to taste and enojoy wine in Geneva, so I will stay away from here from now on. read more

Went last evening for a wine tasting of French wines. We were lucky to have a small group which made it a particular treat since you are able to learn more about wine, the region and ask questions. I think that might be difficult with a larger crowd. Al had one of his distributors run the tasting. Boy were we lucky! Not only was the man a Sommelier but he was close to becoming a Master Sommelier which if you are familiar is one of the hardest certifications you can attain for any kind of career. Very impressed with the selection of wine. The group I was with all prefer red and were all pleased with the selection of white that was on the tasting menu for the evening. I was excited to learn they offer a catered dinner each month and that you can bring your own food in and enjoy a night there at the table. Al was extremely knowledgeable about wine. I was surprised to see a large variety of European wines under $20. I plan to come back with a group of girlfriends for a ladies night of wine and apps! read more
