Privacy fence, wood fence, vertical garden
    Krystee M.

Our privacy fence fell over one night due to wind and a heavy vine, and we were left staring straight into our neighbors bedroom. Dave came to our rescue and built us a brand new and improved wall to give us all back our privacy. We decided to take this opportunity to create our very own vertical garden, and we couldn't have asked for a better result. Not only did he execute our vision, but he also coordinated having the anchoring neighbor wall refurbished so it would be a sturdy and safe base for the privacy wall. His concrete guys did a great job, and then Dave came back with the beautifully stained walnut wood and built it in 2 days. We can't wait to start building out the vertical garden to complete the vision. Dave delivers what he promises and has some great stories and conversations along the way. Highly recommend him as a trustworthy, talented and kind contractor for any of your home projects.

Lastly, we also had a major plumbing issue, and David was quick to refer an amazing plumbing company.

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Even after everything was finished, they guaranteed that they would come back and fix anything that needed fixing. Cannot recommend them enough if you want to improve or build your new home!

Shawn was easy to reach, responsive, and great to work with throughout the project. The crew showed up on time, kept things clean, and finished everything in under 5 weeks. We did new tile, vanity, lighting, and a walk-in shower, and the quality really shows. Hard to find a contractor this consistent and reliable. Pricing felt fair too, especially for the level of work. Definitely recommend MDM Remodeling if you're doing a bathroom remodel in Los Angeles we'll be using them again.

We searched around for a local contractor/handy man and D-lux git back to us quickly with a fair bid. They showed up on the day promised and went on to fix the wall. They got the wall up pretty well for having crazy plum lines with each large concrete block. After the initial job we had some concerns with the mortar and over spill of it and Dean and his team came back to assess the concerns and validated them. They did another pass, helped with the overspill and it looks great now. Dean communicates well, knowing he is a busy guy and in jobs everyday and stands by his work. I can't say how appreciative I am for him being communicative keeping us in the loop during his busy schedule.

He's a nice guy and had a lot of good suggestions about details to make our home reno look high end…read more(e.g. screwless electrical outlet plates), but overall we had a very poor experience and would not use Dean again. Dean did a good job on retiling our fireplace at our old home. When we bought a new house and planned a big remodel including fireplace, backsplash, counters, wood floors and painting Dean said he could do it and provided a competitive quote. It was a big job and he's a young guy, so we weren't sure we should trust him with the entire project but he assured us he'd done big remodels before. So we moved forward trusting him with our full reno. Dean has the best of intentions, but he managed our project poorly and was often MIA - not responding to texts or calls for up to a week when he was busy with another job. During the project I had several conversations with Dean about it. He admitted he should be more professional / responsive and not disappear. However he did not improve. At the start of our project, we repeatedly asked Dean for a project timeline with payment milestones. He kept promising to provide it and never did. He made some big decisions without consulting us, e.g. he repainted the entire house before the renovation work started to "stay on schedule" - it would normally be done last to avoid a lot of touch up painting for renovated rooms, he didn't consult us on the island counter design, etc. Since Dean was often not onsite when work was being done, there is limited quality checks while work is being done and there's a big rush for Dean to try to fix things and complete the project on weekends. When our reno fell behind schedule, Dean promised it would be completed on time, but didn't ask his crew to work longer hours or keep them accountable for daily punch list items. Dean tried to do as much as he could on weekends. That may work on small projects but doesn't work on large renos because there's too much for one person to do. We had to delay our move in when Dean said he needed more time to "dial in" in the reno. When we did move in the house was filty and the work incomplete. We have a toddler. It became very frustrating because we had to clean-up behind Dean and the crew to make it safe for our son as the work dragged on. It was especially frustrating when there were do-overs for poor quality work (e.g. the backsplash and countertop grouting fell apart because a bad batch of grout was used and Dean didn't inspect the work, touch ups for sloppy painting, lights hanging out the ceiling when we moved in, big gap between the fire place mantle and fire place tile, etc). Towards the end of the job he was ready to move on to the next one and kept asking for a final payment before all the work was done. He repeatedly promised to stand by his work after the reno was done and fix any issues with it, but once he got the final payment he disappeared leaving a lot of construction materials in our driveway and never returning numerous texts or calls from my wife and me. He also left all the extra wood for the floors in the driveway exposed to the elements without mentioning anything to us. We found this very unprofessional. Judging by other reviews he's disappeared after receiving final payment and not completing the work. So I'm glad we withheld the final payment until the reno was complete. There are issues with some of the work he did, but we'll need to hire someone else to fix it.
