Because this is a very busy shop, I always try to make an appointment in advance and show up with a printed list of concerns, a completion time request, and a further request that he call before working on anything that is significant in time and cost. I always go through my list with Nick or his son, Kevin. If there are expensive repairs, Nick usually gives me alternatives that meet my budget. Over the 15 years, this approach has never disappointed me. When emergencies arise, I always have AAA tow my car to Nick's for a rapid response that is reasonable in cost.
