Not a good mechanic and auto service. John, the owner lies about the price just to get your business and then jacks up the price to triple his original quote. He gave me the "new" price after the work was done and it was too late to cancel. I could have gone to another mechanic on Route 109 for half the price. Visit Date: November 19, 2020 So my tire light came on and I famously ignored it as I tend to do because I like to run around like a lunatic and over extend myself until it was pretty much flat. I got in the car on Thursday morning and hoped to get my son to nursery school and to a tire place safely. I saw East Neck Auto and turned around after I bought my son to school to drop in. They took my car real fast (which I always appreciate) and had the tire fixed (maybe plugged) I'm clueless with car tires and auto stuff in maybe a half hour probably less. It was $20 to fix the tire and I appreciated the honesty of the business. I was expecting to pay a few hundred for some new tires. I gave the guy a $10 tip said thank you and promised a good review for their service which I am writing now. As a woman it feels good to know of honest shops out there especially when it comes to cars. I'm getting a divorce so if my father, brother or brother-in-law (maybe future boyfriend if I get one) aren't going to be around to come with me for a car repair or car service it's good to know of a shop out there that won't be looking to snow me because I'm a female. I'll be moving to Nassau County but will still be visiting the area to pick up my son when I have him so if I need a repair and I'm this way this is the shop I'll come to! read more

I had a problem with my jeep showing service 4wheel drive on the screen so I went to this shop as I saw good reviews on yelp. I met the owner John, who was at the front desk at did my work order. He called me back after with the diagnostic results and an estimate of the work. I gave an ok for all the work to be done,and he showed me the bad unit,they replaced ,a power transfer unit, they spent all day working on it, it was a big job involved, and they had it ready for pickup at the end of the day, but I got it the next morning. I'm happy with all the work they did, all on my invoice, and my jeep is running very well again. I will be back here to have any other work done in the future. read more

East Neck has serviced my old Buick for years and years - keeping it alive and kicking. John the owner was always honest and straightforward when it came to repairs and maintenance. Finally last year when I took it in with some issues he said it was going to be not worth it for me to repair it and I should consider a new vehicle. He gave me some opinions about what might be a good car for me based on my budget and needs. Now he gets so much less business from me since I have a new car - so it has just been inspections and oil changes. He could have made a lot of money off of me by repairing my older car but instead he was honest and for that I will never go anywhere else! read more

We had passed East Neck Auto Service for years and hadn't used them because we "assumed" such a professional looking auto/truck service center was probably over priced. Well we couldn't have been more wrong and sorry we hadn't gone there sooner. I called John & he said bring your truck right over for an estimate; in a little more than an hour, he diagnosed the issue, which was exactly what my husband expected was wrong and had it repaired that afternoon. The price was fair and reasonable. John was a pleasure to work with and his staff was just as professional. He thanked us for the business. What a pleasant surprise from a business owner. We had two other service stations who've we used in the past, put us off for several weeks as we were told that our truck was too large for their locations and they would call when space opened up. We had to continually call to see when they could get to our truck. They continued to do other work ahead of our repair and kept putting us off. Was our cash not the same as the other customers??? If you can't take the business, just say so. The repair was not a difficult diagnosis or fix. I say good riddance, we now found the right place!! We are so pleased that we made the effort to call and stop in to East Neck Auto Service and have now found our new service station for our truck. We highly recommend East Neck Auto Service! This place is no good. I went in and after about a 20 minute wait, John showed up at the service desk. I asked if they could take off 4 tires on my car and mount 4 complete tires (no balancing, etc needed) and the price wouldn't matter and before i could finish my sentence his response was "I'll pass". This is the second time i go into this place because it's local and i try and support but it's the second time they are rude and rather just push business away even though the shop was empty. I have seen this place a few times driving by. I was looking for a place to do some minor work on my SUV. I mentioned I wanted a oil change, inspection and rotors changed. When I brought up I had my own rotors his reply was "oh we don't do that how would I make money " I replied "I will pay for the labor" he replied "we don't do that.. see ya!" And walked away. I went to 3 other auto repair shops to get my fan for my ac/heat working and each one of them charged me anywhere from $400. to as high as $900. and it still didn't work, so I stopped into East Neck Auto Repair and spoke with John and left my car with him, he called me 2 hours later and told me his shop fixed it, well I went to pick it up and they repaired it, and it was working perfectly, and it still is working great and the bill was only $220. wow after all the other shops couldn't fix it and charged me absorbent amounts of money, east neck auto repaired it for a lot less money and it worked great, this is the only repair shop I will use for all my cars they're the best !! read more

I've never felt the need to actually hug a mechanic before today. (I didn't actually get the chance to because the counter was in the way, lucky for him haha.) Anyway, I have been experiencing problems with my car for almost six months now, and I took it to another mechanic who told me it was fine and sent me back on the road, because 'it wasn't making that noise for him.' Today, my problem was resolved once and for all. I was helped by John, and Liam (I think his name was Liam) and they were so friendly right off the bat; they assured me my problem would be fixed. Sure enough, I get a call a couple hours later that they ran a whole bunch of tests and got to the root of my engine problem. It was misfiring, I needed some coils replaced and a new fuel filter, since my fuel was contaminated. Now I will admit when he gave me the price to repair it, I almost had a mini heart attack, but I also felt so much relief knowing that my car would finally be fixed. And fixed correctly at that. John actually went through each item on the receipt and told me exactly what he did and why it cost what it cost. He told me about a few other things that needed to be fixed, which I knew about already, but he did not try to sell anything to me at all which is so refreshing. He gave me his card and told me if I am ever stuck or need help, they answer their phones 24/7. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area if you want quality, honest work done on your car. read more

I brought my car in for what I thought would be a lot of work. I was pleasantly surprised when the owner called me several hours later to inform me that only very basic maintenance was needed. The owner: John is extremely honest. Though it was clear I know nothing about cars he explained everything to me in layman's terms and did not take advantage of the fact that I have little knowledge of cars. I found the mechanics to be very thorough in their diagnosis of any problem with my car. I had to wait for several hours for them to get back to me but it was well worth the wait. Since I live in the neighborhood I was even offered a ride home after dropping off my car. They also offer 24 hour towing service. I will definitely be bringing my car back to them and will recommend them to anybody that needs a good, honest mechanic. read more

I bought a truck cap from them 3 years ago, no problems. I needed to get a new one for a 2019 truck and they told me the same cap was 1k more then the 2016. I did my research and found that the cap had not gone up in price that much. I confronted Mike and he stuttered and said he thought we were including all the options. I expect quality work when I pay for a service, especially the amount auto mechanics charge, so saying this place does good work is neither here nor there. Plenty of shops do good work. What this place does to is consistently act in a rude manner, specifically the owner who is often working the front desk. After having taken my car here on a few occasions for regular maintenance I stopped frequenting this shop after a few specific incidents: once when I needed new tires and I knew the best prices are online (and the prices he was quoting had some obvious "padding" on them), I asked what he would charge if I brought the tires in myself for mounting. His response was, "What, I can't make money on the tires?" Sure you can, but not from me. Took my car elsewhere. I then once took my gf's tire to get fixed, and her rim was bent. Did he suggest a rim shop to have it repaired? Nope. Started quoting me hundreds of dollars for a brand new rim. Took the rim to a rim shop where they fixed the rim and replaced the tire for a fraction of what he was quoting me. Last straw was when my gf was going to be taking my car in for an oil change and asked for a mid morning drop off time. He literally laughed at her on the phone and said, "Lady we start at 7am, so be here at 730." I can deal with someone being rough around the edges. This guy isn't that, he's worse and doesn't seem to want to keep newer customers and I have no problem obliging him. Take your car somewhere else. read more

Got a new ARE cap installed on my 2016 Tacoma. The sales process went well with Mike checking in and being really on point to get the best product. The price is a bit high, but in line with LEER. The guy at the service counter is tuff and terribly a Trump supporter. I had to bring my truck back as the cap leaked. They pretty much fixed the issue by adding more seal, I realize these aren't totally waterproof. They don't encourage you waiting or watching the work done. read more

You can take your car almost anywhere, save a few bucks and have them half ass the job. I did that for a long time. You know what happens? You end up paying more in the long run. East Neck has professional mechanics who know their stuff. If you want the job done right, you're going to pay a little more, just like anything else in life. I go out of my way to frequent this shop even though I don't live nearby anymore. You know why? John, the owner has turned business away when it wasn't the right thing to do. I wanted him to do some modifications of my Camaro's exhaust system to get more horsepower. Though completely legal, he refused saying it would shorten the lifespan of my vehicle. He could have taken my money. When was the last time you used the words "Mechanic" and "Integrity" in the same sentence? You can here. And to the one of the other reviews....seriously, the owner is a Trump supporter? Is this what we've come to, America? What does that have to do with anything? He could be a Stalin supporter for all I care. The shop does good work, reasonable prices and they don't fleece their customers. read more
