Windstorm a few weeks back blew a 7' piece of flashing off the verge rafter on a gable end. Called on a SAT and Don & Clyde were able to get out to reinstall it on TUE AM. While it was 30' up, no materials were required (a handful of nails), so it was a little pricey for a ~30 minute repair. But it had to be done, a man's time IS worth something and my days of getting that high on a ladder ended a few years ago after I lost my leg (I wear a prosthetic now). With the wind storm two nights ago, part of our aluminum trim came down and was hanging off the side of the house. Called D&R later in the day and they arrived 30 minutes early this morning to look at what needed to be done. The quote was reasonable and they returned to do the job a couple hours later. The replacement piece is perfect and I am thrilled with how wonderful it looks! D&R was friendly, efficient, and very professional. I highly recommend them!!! read more

I called D & R yesterday in the morning. Woman answered with just a "hello". Asked if this was the company. She said yes I'm answering their phone while on a job. I gave my name and # with a request of an estimate for a roof. Honestly didn't think I would get a response back. This is the 5th company I've called in Livingston county. No one seems to want to return phone calls. The man D called a few hours later said he would be there at 3:30. I thought perfect. At 3:13 he arrived. I thought he's early. BONUS. I walked out. Said with a happy tone HI. He got out of the truck with no hello. Immediately looking down at a scrap piece of paper looking at it then up at the house about 5 times then gruffly said "are you new owners"? I said noooo. He said" I've given an estimate 3 times on this house. I WILL NOT do it again." I said " no I got a roof in 97" he said "' BULL I'll go check my files and prove it if you want. I am NOT doing another estimate." And got in his truck and left. And still haven't heard back. Obviously still looking for the IMAGINARY 3 estimates. Very disrespectful. Obviously didn't want to do the job. I have never gotten an estimate from any company since my roof was put on in 1997. Maybe D being a little more classy and a good business man he could have said... Ya know I think I've given an estimate before. Let me go check my files. Pull the estimate And update the pricing. I called D & R Roofing and he came over and gave me an estimate on a roofing project. The estimate seemed fair so I agreed to proceed with the project. He gave me a start date which was one month away and said it was his first availability. I agreed. He said he would order the materials. I called two weeks before the start date and left a message saying that I was going to be out of town and unavailable the week before the project start date, but that I wanted to proceed with the project. However, when the start date arrived, I waited but he never showed. I called and he said that he was working on another project. He suggested several other dates in the future. I selected another date. I then called a few days before to confirm the date. He called back the day before the new start date and indicated that he would not be able to come and that he had not even ordered the materials for the project. When I suggested that he had plenty of time to obtain the materials, he tried to make excuses saying he didn't receive a down payment for materials. I reminded him that he never asked for any down payment and if he had, I would have written him a check. He then became very rude, he said "well I guess this ain't gonna happen" and he hung up on me. If he was too busy or did not want to do the job he should have said so. Agreeing to do the work and then not showing up (twice) is no way to run a business. read more
