I ran into this organization at a showcase in Santa Rosa and couldn't wait to do business with them. I had a woman who had worked hard for me for 8 years, who finally made partner. I was excited to get a nice wall display made with her newspaper article that the Press Democrat did about her promotion. When I called, I identified myself and where I was calling from, and the owner promptly said he wasn't interested in my services and hung up on me. He then avoided my call several times. Then he finally answered and said, "Wasn't I clear?" And then I explained that I was a prospect looking for help with a display and asked if he meant to treat me the way he did. Had such an amazing experience here! Dennis was a pleasure to work with. I called on 12/23 and in my mind wanted something engraved for Christmas. I was too embarrassed to ask though since it was so close so hoped to get it back by the New Year. However, Dennis was the one who asked if I needed it for Christmas and said if I could get right down there I could pick it up the next day. Sure enough on Christmas Eve, less than 24 hours later, 2 shiny medals for my husband were beautifully engraved and ready to be wrapped! Fantastic experience! I made the huge mistake of going to another engraver in Santa Rosa who botched my trophy and still charged me for the errant work (Jay's, please don't ever set foot near this place) so I was somewhat frayed and cynical went I entered D&S. Long story short, the woman I worked with (Sherryl) was super easy to collaborate with and had my work done in ONE day after the other place taking two months and screwing up the work. I don't know if Sherryl sensed my frustration and went out of her way to expedite my work but she managed to take really, really miserable experience and make me almost happy about it since I now know about D&S. I came here late on Thursday, as I was pulling up the gentlemen was actually locking the front door. So I became one of those customers, asked the obvious question " are you closing?" He said he was and asked what I needed. I told him I wanted a flask engraved. He said he could do it and invited me in. Gave him the flask and what I wanted, he said no problem and will be ready in about a week. Again, I became one of those customers and said I needed it in two days. The owner/operator of this business was exceptionally rude and stubborn toward me. I sent him some artwork to etch onto a beer growlers. He sent me a proof via email that had a large portion missing, so I told him that. He said it looked fine on his end, but I knew there's no way it could have. I explained in more detail exactly what was wrong. He realized what was wrong and his response was just "The world of electronic art," as if the mistake was with the computer or program. The work eventually got done and it looked fine. My coworker paid him upon picking up the growlers. The owner then emailed me an invoice to pay, and I paid it, assuming he kept records of who has already paid. When we discovered that D&S had been paid twice, I requested the owner send the check back to me. He offered to shred it. However, according to our accounting department we have to destroy the check ourselves, or else we have to stop payment and pay a fee to the bank. The owner had a problem with that and criticized the efficiency of my employer. Inappropriate. He offered to send it "if you don't think my shredder is good enough." He said he set it aside and will get to it when he has time, and complained about having to pay his bookkeeper and time and postage. Just for returning a check that he hadn't opened. He said I could pick it up, and since I didn't want to wait for him to put it in the mail, I drove across town to pick it up. The gas/time the drive surely took more than it would for him to return an envelope. After he saw this review, instead of contacting me, he contacted my employer to request they violate my first amendment rights by having me remove my review, and he lied to them by saying he couldn't contact me even though he had my email, phone number, and address, and could message me via Yelp or reply publicly. Then he repeatedly harassed me for posting this review, which just reaffirmed he's a bully. Most business owners/managers would simply apologize for their inappropriate comments and poor customer service. Through his rebuttal it was clear he failed to grasp that my problem with him was his treatment toward me rather than his work. Find someone else to etch your trophies. read more

I have to say that D&S has been a great company to work with. I own a marketing company... and no they are not a client, but they are a vendor that I trust for quality work and products as well as treating me and my employees in a respectful and helpful manner. The owner, Dennis, has a dry sense of humor, but it never comes across as rude or not caring. He has always shown a great amount of knowledge for the products he offers and especially his custom engraving. I feel fortunate to have a wine bottle trophy sitting in my office that was purchased by the presenter, through D&S Awards. I dropped in to see if an acrylic award that fell off my shelf could be repaired - the base had detached. The gentleman showed me how it was originally barely adhered, gave it an injection of special fluid and I was out the door in no time with advice to let it completely adhere for 2 hours. There was no charge for the repair service and the award is back on my shelf. I offered to pay but he wouldn't take any money-asked me to post my review on Yelp instead so it's 5 stars based on my experience. I contacted Sherryl for an engraving on a soccer trophy. The season was about to start and I needed a rush. I couldn't let the U10G's go their first game without one of them receiving the player of the game trophy. I dropped off the trophy on Friday and was quoted Tuesday. That was OK, my fault for leaving it so late and D&S are very busy. I get to my office and Sherryl calls and says "Hey that trophy you just dropped off, we can make it happen today.
