REALLY friendly counter service and the folks having dinner there were also a blast! My wife got the Ox Tail and vegetables, and I got a vegetable medley of collards, cabbage, beans and rice, a few tomatoes, and plantains. the cabbage was VERY VERY VERY salty, I might hope and error in the kitchen. The collards were nice and the plantain crisp on the outside but not dried out or hard on the inside...... tasty! Great service, pretty clean spot and the kitchen service area looked tidy and clean. I wrote a POSITIVE review concerning this restaurant on Google in June of this year. I just read the owner's response to my review. The owner's response proved me correct concerning the staff not being "engaging" and lacking good customer service. The owner's response, which I've attached, demonstrated that the young lady who took my order was a product of her environment. The vast majority of my review was actually in favor of the restaurant, and in my review, I recommended that people go there because the food is good. The owner's response to my review gave me pause because he/she felt I needed therapy because the customer service wasn't good. By the way, I was the ONLY person at the counter, and no one else was behind me. There was no line. When you speak to a person, and they don't speak back, and they're trying to take your order while texting on their phone simultaneously, it isn't good customer service, but the owner felt I needed a therapist. If I were that business owner and read that review, I would've apologized to the customer and spoken with my staff about the importance of representing the business well. After all, it's the customers who are responsible for you staying in business. It's just unacceptable. While I gave this restaurant on Google 4 stars, I gave it 1 star here because of the owner's response. How could you be rude on a review that COMPLIMENTED your business and recommended viewers go there? Make that make sense. It's obvious I've been to every location their establishment has leased and only gave my observation per the owner's comment about their parking lot having more spaces at the new location. I will never go back there, and I do my best to support black-owned businesses because it's a little harder for our people to prosper in business, but I will never return to this establishment. read more

The staff was very nice and helpful. The menu was flashing on the board so fast we couldn't really read it. Then the music was up loud. I got ackee and saltfish, it was extra oily I didn't taste any saltfish. I also got callaloo, it was okay. My sister got fried chicken wings and chicken tenders. The fried chicken and tenders were cooked fresh. The fried chicken doesn't taste the way it smells. I asked for pineapple juice and they tried to give me pineapple soda, it is not the same. My 1st time trying Caribbean food and boyyyy was I blown away! It was delicious!! Flavors were very rich and portion sizes were generous. My husband had the jerk wings and I enjoyed the ox tails. Every piece of meat was fall of the bone and tender. I highly recommend sharing! Just a heads up though- if you are shy to spice, the jerk wings DO have a kick. Strange to say but... the plantains were my favorite part of the meal. Everything was wonderful but those plantains were cooked to PERFECTION. You can't really get that anywhere else. I visit regularly when I'm visiting my hometown. The food is great. I have always had a great experience but some of my family members think the staff is rude. I think it's a cultural thing. In Rocky Mount for basketball (I mean who comes here for anything else) and this spot was recommended by a friend. It was walkable from the gym so we made our way over. We ordered at the bar/counter. The woman taking our order was patient and answered our questions and even made some suggestions. We sat and waited for our food. The music was LOUD but great. No frills restaurant and bar area but was clean and had an island vibe. Our food took a bit but the friendly chef/owner came out and confirmed our order and assured us it would be out shortly. A few moments later white styrofoam to go boxes came out overflowing with piping hot mounds of food! We tried the following: Curry chicken patty: So good. Flakey crust full of well seasoned curry chicken. A combo shrimp platter with both curry and jerk shrimp. The BOMB! Included well seasoned peppers, onions and carrots over peas and rice and cabbage. Oh and a side of perfectly cooked plantains too! Mouth watering and sooooo much food! Curry chicken platter with rice and peas and Mac n cheese. Another hit. Flavorful and tender fall off the bone chicken. Just the right amount of heat too. Hot gooey Mac was great too! Jerk chicken platter with rice and peas and Mac n cheese. Another hit! Spicy tender fall of the bone chicken loaded with flavor and a nice compliment to the rice and peas and Mac. Great service and even better food! Was in town for work and decided to bring some home. this is the best Jamaican food in the entire state of NC. Oxtail tender and delicious. Jerk chicken perfect level of spice and seasoning. Hubby and I went to DChill Spot for some oxtails. This was our first visit to this Jamaican restuarant... Portions were really good and the seasoning just right! We enjoyed the chill vibe with the gentleman behind the bar. We had a pleasant chat while we waited on our meal to go. Based on the customers that came in after us, you could tell that they were regulars because the manager already knew their favorites. I though that was so cool! Had a great meal here for lunch today! The jerk chicken was amazing! Well seasoned and a real good amount of spice! Keep in mind that I like it real spicy so probably not for the faint at heart. The rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains were all cooked to perfection! I'm here for work from Delaware so it was a roll of the dice and I got a seven! Best decision I made all week. I ordered enough food to get me through my entire trip, but if I happen to overindulge, I'll be back during this trip. The ambiance was perfect as I felt like I was back on the island. The rice and cabbage was good but stay away from the oxtails They appear larger than other restaurants but they were so full of fat and very little flavor. I ordered rum punch but it tasted more like dish detergent. The service was fast but the young lady at the counter didn't smile or seem to care about taking my order. We cleaned off our own table while another female worker stood and watched Note she was walking around on the phone and very intimidating with a gun on her hip. I visit Rocky Mount Event Center often for basketball, and this was my go-to spot in between or after games. I went for dinner last night and encountered my first issue with this establishment. I had stew chicken and my son had curry goat. My son had a hair in his meal, and the owner refused to provide a refund, insinuating my son was lying and I didn't want to pay for my meal. As he stated in his establishment, "the customer isn't always right". Granted, my son did eat half his meal before pulling the hair out his mouth off the goat bone, but anyone willing to use a little logic and reasoning would see it wasn't my son's hair. The length, texture, and curl pattern didn't match. Unfortunately the owner was extremely defensive and I'll have to find a new place to eat near the Event Center. read more

The food here was outstanding. The staff is very helpful and nice. They could turn down the music a bit though which is why I'm giving this place 4 star instead of 5. I felt like I was at a Reggae Concert. I like all types of music so this isn't bashing the type of music that was playing this is simply pointing out that the music was too loud for me and the person I was there with so it wasn't just me. This is my first time eating here but getting it togo. this place is very unprofessional, they have like a 10 year old at the front taking orders in which she barley understands what is being asked, so i got rung up wrong unfortunately, there are kids running around the place throwing balls in which it is hitting the customers, not to mention, we're still in a pandemic and none of the workers have on masks. While on a business trip to Rocky Mount I came up this awesome place. I like to go unique and non-chain restaurants while I travel and this one hits the spot! It was a nice relaxing vibe as you enter with music playing in the background. The man running the front was really helpful and friendly. I asked him if he had a recommendation for my first jamaican food experience. He recommended the brown stew. Oh my goodness it was absolutely amazing. I got a ginormous plate of food, i maybe ate 1/3rd of it before taking the rest home for leftovers. The chicken fell right off the bone, you could tell it was cooked for a very long time with some amazing spices. The rice was flavorful and and the cabbage was delightful. I asked for beef patties was told they were out . the ones in warmer were sold already. said it would be a 30 min wait for fresh ones . i waited a hr when I got my food I was giving 2 of the 3 beef patties I ordered only to find out they was the ones that were already sitting in warmer and they were dry and tasted old . I asked what happened to fresh ones i was told that's all they had and they wouldn't be cooking anymore. asked for a refund . then I ordered fried chicken and curry shrimp my chicken was tough when I asked for some different chicken owner said it's all the same was told they were xtra busy . i guess that's why they couldn't fix a paying customers order then when I went to bar to get my refund they were putting fresh Pattie's and warmer . I said I thought u were out . The waitress said they were sold lol . I will never go here again. the owner didn't even care . (Continued) I don't have to lie on you sir ! The fact that u came up here and called me a liar is more pitiful then the service we received! if you can't provide good service cause you and your staff said you were busy then u shouldn't run a business. All orders are prepaid b4 you even receive food . So how can I order something and not want to pay . Makes no sense. I paid with $100 bill so clearly I can afford what I ordered. Have a good night .
